How To Improve My DayZ Performance (tried everything, advice on components appreciated)

Recommended Posts

I can get anywhere from 14 -20fps sometimes (only ever out in the open with not many trees etc) I will reach 40 but a lot of the time it is at around 20 and in woods it always drops below 20.

I run game booster, have AVG Tune Up and run all the performance software as well as Advanced System Care (free) also whilst playing the game I run GameBooster3 which disables explorer.exe and other things. Even with all this my game still frequently drops to around 14-20fps in certain areas, rain does not help and sometimes it's just being an asshole no matter what.

Processor: Intel® Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6450

Hard Disk Total Space: 953.8 GB

File System: NTFS

Model: ST1000DL002-9TT153 ATA Device

I'm was thinking of getting a new graphics card, perhaps a better processor is what I need though? But I can't get anything too expensive. Any help for components to buy (preferably no more than £100) or software to install, things to edit.

I've heard about increasing power usage to components to increase performance? I've not looked at overclocking much as I don't want to overheat anything.

Have you tried the ramdisk trick? Didn't help me, but it worked wonders on a friends laptop. You can find it on the youtuberz!

Try the startup parameters and config file edits mentioned in an earlier thread of mine. If those don't work try some stuff in the first list. You don't NEED a new video card to get performance.

Done most of those but I'll go through them again and do any I haven't I have AMD I went in to the catalyst control center and in gaming there was a few things I set all for best performance. There is AMD Overdriver which allows me to overclock some things but I think I put it up too much the first time and it started fucking up my screen.

build yourself a gaming rig mate, seriously, it will pay out dividends. If you have any questions on how to do it, just send me a PM.

a little bit over your price range but a good card for the money

Same graphics card but different manufacturer or something?

Also been looking at the GeForce GTX range and HD Radeon 7850.

this game (Arma 2) is particularly troublesome. people that have the best rigs complain about performance. I would wait to see what the stand-alone is like
