So, anyone here who prefers the dmr over the other sniping rifles? Well, compared to a AS50 it looks like a assault rifle but i already shot ppl at a range of 800-1000m. I really like the DMR, DMR master race ftw!

I love it because of its close quarter capabilites mixed in with capable sniping capabilities, mixed in with usability during nighttime with NVGs. Also, while ammo isn't exactly abundant, there is just enough of it. It's an awsome all round weapon. It's best used in a support role, where you stay behind as overwatch to secure a potentially dangerous area while your friend goes in.

DMR + M14 AIM and M9 SD = Most versatile and useful solo setup EVER! All of the guns can be used at night, and ammo for the DMR and AIM are the same, making efficient backpack space. Mainly a PvP setup but the M9 SD is all you really need to take out a zombies. Plus you really shouldn't be more than 800 metres away from an enemy with a sniper anyway.

Depends on your style of sniping, If you want to take pot shots from different postions then a SVD, if you want urban you go m24/dmr, If you want to engage snipers then your choice is m107/as50 ( not saying you can use other rifles but these are easier) My preferd is DMR,its a beast, 2 quick shots to the body and hes dropped. Lovley close quater sniping at 100-300 Metres.

DMR is the best, THE BEST, sniper rifle, because its accuracy if you know how to use it, biggest ammo capacity and fastest follow up shots if you miss the headshot. Also the CQB abilities are awesome if needed. Too bad that DMR is hard to find, but when i find one, im gona be alive for a LOOOONG time

Its overpowered, too good when you realise that the mags are absolutely everywhere and you need only 1 mag cause of the bug, so my opinion is that its a great sniper rifle and should became more rare, mags especially

The DMR is awesome as long as you don't fall into the trap I notice a lot of players using it do: at 500+ meters, the high rate of fire and large ammo capacity will not make up for poor marksmanship and poor shot selection. I've encountered DMR "snipers" several times and every one of them missed the first very poorly aimed shot while I was running and, sure enough, each first miss was followed by that distinctive DMR boom in rapid succession. Like any other sniper rifle, you have to actually aim. There's something about the DMR that makes some players forget everything about basic sniping.

While not a one hit kill to the body like the .50 cals, I rarely see a player not get knocked down by the first shot - at least when I've used it. After that, it's easy to finish them off.

Like someone mentioned previously, the M14 + DMR combo is DayZ nirvana for me, too.

DMR is my favorite sniper, i hit a guy that was running to safety at 700+ meters in the back of the neck on my first shot once. then i yelled C,C,C,C,Combobreaker!

It's alright, but I have a hard time using a sniper rifle that allows someone to alt+f4 (yeah, i'm not too great at landing headshots with it past 500m). if i had to pick, i'd take a m14 aim over the dmr.

I love the DMR, but to be honest I'd take the M24 or SVD over it (not counting the overpowered 50 cals), solely based on the fact that it can zero. In the majority of situations I end up in, the ability to zero and ensure a hit is just that helpful.

I found my DMR recently, at Stary Sobor, on my first day of starting my DayZ back up.

Oh and get this, with FIVE clips of ammo in the surrounding tents.

it is funny that i got my DMR from a hacker i killed,,, he was hiding in a house in elektro and there was heaps and heaps of wire and sandbags all round the house,,, i knew it was suspect,, then i hear on voip STAY AWAY WE WILL KILLON SITE! from this English guy.. Then he said MATE THERE ARE FIVE BODIES AROUND HERE YOU DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH US,,, i was like FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKER I AM GONNA FUCK YOU ALL UP.. i tried to see them from the supermarket but couldmnt and i knew they had a good view out front cos of all the bodies...so i tried to get up teh stairs but there was like 5 barbed wires so i said fuck this and combat logged upstairs ... i come back to the server and lean out the room and there is this ghillie guy with a DMR bent over a hacked weapon box,, i killed him fast with an ak47 and then heard his friend who was camping the stairs move around but he quit the server.. i was so pumped because i didnt know if there was more up there he just said "us" and "we" all the time. i crawled to his body and took that DMR and his NVG and then got out some grenades. i throwed the grenades at the hack box ,, 3 of them,, but it wouldnt blow up so i said fuck this and left the server too...

THEN

i was sniping carebears in elektro from a hill, not the usual hill behind the firestation but this other hill near the high value farm building.. anyway i was just lying in some bushes and totally randomly decided to freelook around me in 3rd person and just luckily saw this guy with an As50 jump down right along side me LOL and start aiming at the same area... i dont know if he was a hacker just trolling me or if he really didnt see me but i straight away turned around and shouted BOO MOTEHR FUCKER and just shot him in the head. i swaped my DMR for his as50 becase i thought it was better,,,,,, then i moved position and start to snipe and realise there is no double zoom?? anyway then a hacker appear behind me and execute me with a makaorv.. at least i think a hacker or maybe he was just looking for snipers to kill and actually finded me legit,,either way he got the drop and i repsawn ,, then i remember that the DMR is probably still on that dumbass who proned next to me,, so i ran back and it waS!!!

since then, i bought a house on Death Mountain and never look back bros

Hmmm.

Now you see, I forgo the Zero-able sniper due to the little skill needed to use them, which leaves me with that Fantastic Scoped SVD, or the Night compatible DMR, and I think, on the stretch as my prefered play time is night, I'd go with DMR. Fantastic sniper, love it to pieces, kind of Camo'd, general all around Marksman rifle :)

I like the rate of fire with the DMR and it has a nice look to it.

Yesterday, I went up on a large building to try try find a sniper that had been firing on one of our members on Namalsk. I sat there with my binoculars out and and eventually I spotted a guy in the woods about 600m off. I was shot at but the shots missed me. I then asked for borrowing someones DMR and aimed carefully from behind a corner to get some cover. I spotted the guy again and he was apparantly aiming right for med with a DMR. I fired off a few shots to try unsettle him and this sniper fell to the ground bleeding. And then he logged out.

The DMR isn't a sniper rifle... It is a marksmans rifle, it is ridiculously overpowered and common in DayZ as well, it should be super rare.

What really rustles my jimmies is how easily found it is compared to an M24 or SVD.
