Gas Siphoning Kits, Abandoned Cars, and More

Gas siphoning - good idea. But one slot is enough, they aren't that big/bulky. All you need is a lengbth of garden hose. Wish you could use that to fill the chopper... Lootable vehicles (for parts) I've thought of that but not posted. I too think is valid to be able to loot parts from vehicles... New tool box action? Eh, not sure I'd want to stand around for 2 minutes watching my character rip an engine out. Realism is one thing, boredom is another. Scavanging parts from abandoned cars is fine, but don't make the game tedious. -
Lets face it. if there was a zombie outbreak finding a vehicle would be like looking for hay in a hay stack, literally. Highways or major roads would be the home to hundreds or even thousands of abandoned cars. However, gas would be scarce and so would car parts, but I have thought of something that could be something to add into the DayZ Standalone. Gas Siphoning Kits In the modern day, some people, mostly thieves, have a gas siphoning kit, this kit is used to take or steal gas out of another. The user inserts the tube into the gas tank and sucks in, then places the other end of the tube into his or her gas tank, stealing the others gas. Spawning: This item will have a medium to low spawn rate in certain building throughout the map, the kit will take up 2 inventory slots. The player will be able to steal gas from either other players cars or the cars along the roads. That is the next thing I want to talk about. Vehicles and Abandoned Cars If a zombie outbreak were to happen as you read this, people would probably freak out, crash their cars or get out and run. In the standalone, I would like to see that the roads from Cherno to Elektro could contain any number of abandoned cars. All of these cars could be driven, but most of them would be out of gas or broken to no return. These cars will have no use-able gas, but if you have a gas siphoning kit you could manage to draw out about a half of a jerry can or if you are lucky, one entire jerry car. If you have a toolbox you could also attempt to dissemble parts of the car, if they are still use-able. New Toolbox Action If you wanted to try to get an engine from a car with a toolbox you could, but it would take you about 2 minutes of you inactive. Also since you aren't a car specialist, you only have a 25-50 percent chance of getting the part without completely destroying it. Also on the topic of car parts, those just spawning in cities and building would be decreased greatly, since how many people would keep an engine in their kitchen? Looking forward to the standalone! Good job Rocket for making such a great mod!

Found an AS50, M107, FAL and NVGs at the same crashed heli site once, that was pretty good. Best legit setup I've had (i.e. weapons not obviously hacked in/finding vehicles with spawned-in weapons) would be AS50 and FAL.

That would have been epic to have seen that happen. They were all probably butt hurt after getting all the vehicles together and following some coherent plan. Probably on their way back to their "secret base". Were you screaming over direct or side chat when diving bombing them? Should of ejected and watch the fireworks! -

DMR and as50 were shooting at different people at different times. I was shooting DMR and watched the blood sprut out as I hit, player ran around bleeding out and did not die, yet continued to stop and shoot back despite being hit 6 times with a DMR. sorry didnt see you die.....maybe you combat logged and die on another server? ummmm what near by building?? no buildings for 2k.... Or was it the building you warped to like your buddy durt warrior did with the SUV? Yeah he died, when he warped into another one of us playing, the one you killed across the map in the helo. we saw the suv and it did not explode....only one shot was taken at the suv to stop it.the rest were taken at the players, also the suv never exploded, because your buddy and fellow clanmate was warping around the map with it later on. Why would you? since bleeding doesnt affect you...... He didnt mean loot the body...since you were across the ridge from us how could you loot our bodies while we had others still shooting at you? unless you warped over....He meant loot the gear in the vehicles at the area, the ones you were blowing up with disregard....well thats easy, since you could go to another server and spawn whatever you like....maybe? you didnt destroy it you confiurmed it, thank you so much.....PS why did you come back to the boom bewm room? you where back there on wednseday, we never removed the ban and yet you got back in????? Why do you tell other to avoid it and yet you came back in???????????????????not very logical. Since you managed to repeatedly get on the server after being banned(no hacks) I ask why did you bother to tell people not to play there? You have a good day, please do us the favor and avoid the boom bewm room, your type and your clanmates type are not welcome and will be removed when you are seen. As a clan that has been in gaming for over 8 years and having 50 plus members, we find it funny when cheaters cry about getting banned.Simple fact, if you appear to be to good to be real....you usaully are hacking. We strive to make our server a freindly place and have repeatedly welcomed noobies and helped them out. Again DO AS YOU ADVISE OTHERS AND AVOID THE BOOM BEWM ROOM. I dont understand why you have bothered to repeatedly come back after crying about abuse by the admins....let alone how you can get back on with a permanent ban issued. Blood on hands if loot a player corpse. (zombies can smell the blood on you, and you can get rid by washing in a lake) High powered guns much louder so if fired near zombies they come running. All high powered guns only spawn far up north, and make it cold up north so need certain clothing, drugs & food to survive the trek. Also vehicles break down in the cold and disease spreads way quicker in the cold. All that should slow down the KOS mob with high powered guns cos if they die its a long dangerous trek to get more. -
Destructible bridges are "EPIC".

Haha, brilliant - sounds like you were all having fun, although the guy you killed was definitely confused in side chat. I am all for destructible environments, bridges especially - they add a lot of dynamics, especially when vehicles come into play. -
US 1031 is open for new players. No hacking will be tolerated and will earn an insta-ban. Plenty of vehicles in a wide array of full of fuel/all green to bone dry\needing lots of repairs all over the map. = )) Starter kit includes a M4A3 CCO and coyote pack.

I get that, but nowhere does it tell you that, and also... why would it just go *poof*? That's really the issue at hand. Disappearing vehicles, disappearing tents, weapons, gear in general, etc... these are items that should be resolved before there's work done on something like "dogs." And again, just reiterating, if they can't get a simple check or "save item" working properly it makes me question how they can hope to even charge for the alpha stand-alone version. :(

My vehicles were completely screwed as well. Luckily I back up all my data manually though. If you restore a much earlier back up, this should also work. -
If anyone is looking for a good private hive come play here. It is a pretty vanilla experience with a few added things to help out fresh spawns. Pretty balanced community when people are playing. The admin is fair, and has resolved issues when we have any. I am not a server admin, just a player trying to help out and find some new people to play here. Server restarts once every 12 hours, but if the player base grows and a need arises for more frequent restarts I am sure this would be altered. personally I like the less frequent restarts. Keeps everyone from running around with an AS50. Currently Austerror is holding a raffle (50$ steam gift voucher) to drum up some players. We are running a little light right now, and we could use some fresh blood on this server. Plenty of vehicles still to be claimed, and I believe a heli is still waiting to spawn. Here's the proof of the teleporting and some small parts of the arguments that went on. I can only upload 500kb for some reason so I've just taken the most important one with proof and a few others showing the same language he has on this forum. From the second he came online it was only "f@ck this and f$ck that and so on... Really immature responses and exactly the same as in this thread. After a while we responded in kind until I left the server myself and Walter was kicked because Mindblank couldnt handle it any more. No one on the server tries to hide the fact that they teleported the vehicles anyway. We just don't agree on the reasons why they were teleported. A completely looted camp wouldn't be a reason for me to check locations and teleport vehicles back to myself. It is for the admins on UK101. It's their server and their opinion so they can do what they want and they might even be justified to do so. I just think it's also fair that people know the way they act if this happens and I guess some people wouldn't invest time on a server like that. The foul language wasn't necessary at all and that was just childish behaviour.

I had a similar idea. I think it would be awesome if this was implemented. With spray paint or paint buckets clans or groups could put their tag on vehicles or areas. Or like MarcDaKind said, be able to camo vehicles.

Hallo, Ik ben zelf 19, speel Dayz bijna 2 maanden en ben behoorlijk ervaren. Ik speel tot nu toe met 2 andere Nederlanders (we hebben een paar mensen gedumpt vanwege kinderlijk gedrag en weinig kennis over het spel). Momenteel zijn we allen in bezig van 2 AS50's en 2 L85's. Ik ben zelf meer van onze squad georganiseerd houden terwijl de andere 2 extreem goed zijn in vehicles maken. Ik weet niet hoe ze het doen maar ze hebben altijd een auto klaar staan. Verder gebruiken we skype, zijn alle 3 elke dag online en hebben prima headsets voor een goede gesprek kwaliteit. What would you like to see in the stand alone?

Everyone has likely heard the news about the stand alone game. What kind of improvements/changes would you like to see? I know there is already a suggestion thread, I just felt like posting this kind of stuff in there would be off topic since it pertains to the standalone game and not the mod. I'm sure some of this stuff has all ready been suggested for the mod, and may already be on the white board for coming changes. Moderators, please forgive me if that is the case. I will continuously update this post with new suggestions so check back every once in a while! Who knows, some of this stuff might actually make it into the game. A few ground rules we should all agree on before we begin: -Search the suggestions (or quick glance at the tl;dr) to see if your suggestion is all ready in. -Leave the "no hackers", "fix bugs", "Arma3 Engine", blah blah out and try to post unique things that you would like to see. -Lets assume that we all want more weapons, bigger/more maps, more vehicles, etc. All posts shouting MOAR! Weill be ignored. -Anyone who suggests making the game "less difficult" will not only be ridiculed, but beaten up and have their beans taken. -When you post a suggestion,post some description. Any post like "I want turtles, that would be cool" will be ignored. -I try to respond directly to everyone (everyone who contributes) but sometimes I'm sure I miss some of you. Tell me if I do! Suggestions Melee Weapons Guns Gear Other Equipment The World Terrain and the Elements Bases and Command Centers The Ruins of Civilization The Inhabitants Movement Life and Death The Infected Other The Vehicles Other The Game tl;dr RPG Elements EDIT: Many, many changes have been made to the OP. Some of the key points of debate are whether or not Classes, Skills, and Perks have their place in DayZ. Also, I would like to point out that I snuck another suggestion of my own in there. It is under "The Equipment" > "Guns" > "A Realistic Ammo System". Please read it, let me know what you think, and we will either improve on it, or take it completely out. Thanks! While I agree that the communication and everything was good, and I am happy things were brought back online swiftly, I'm still upset about the backups not containing everything... I went online to their IRC, and was pleased that things have now been corrected and everything is now getting backed up. The "OTHER" company you like to complain about had to reset my backup... and it was the Whole backup.... I'm pleased that ST now modified their backups, but I will now also backup myself, and am now looking at 4 hours or more to add over 100 buildings, walls, and my vehicles are all screwed up, but I will correct that myself. -

it is indeed taking pretty long, it if it was just a hardware related issue and waiting on a replacement then there would have been the time to communicate more. I hope it is just character instead of entire db, so tents, vehicles etc. etc. Useless panic mode on?:) -
Molotov coctails are great for a number of things if the game were fully realistic and destructable. First off, decomposing bodies give off a number of flammable gasses (methane and hydrogen sulphide) which would make them go up real nice. A molotov coctail is much easier to come by than a grenade which also makes it a great tactical weapon. Somebody held up in a house, tree stand, behind a rock, etc would not be able to dig in so readily if a molotov was available. I also think molotovs would be great for destroying vehicles (mostly the tires if ignited, or a massive fire if it entered through the glass), destroying tents and even buildings. A few molotovs into a barracks and goodbye. This goes along with my theory that certain servers should have finite buildings and items. All the barracks destroyed on a server? Much fewer people with high powered guns running around in the end of the world

hey guys i have luckily found this server on this forum, and let me start off by saying this server is totally amazing. The guys are always adding new buildings, millitary and residential. Vehicles are easy to find, the helicopters are far from hard to find, and the admins are super cool and fair. ZERO HACKERS which is a big plus, and for those who like pvp this is the server for you, and those who like teaming together this is also the server for you. Such a good mix of teaming together, and killing the bad guys. Were else are you going to get in a epic helicopter chase to 1200 alt and nose dive to 500km + and escape death, you guys should Really check this server out, im going to keep comming back and its usually 20 plus player but would be a totally different animal with more people!!! thanks again to ventZero and samirocks for all the help on getting me started in this server!!!!!

Vilayer Servers Down?

Both my ViLayer servers are down. The one hosted at the Dallas data centre went down first, followed by the Seattle one a hour or so later. My assumption is that they are currently fixing the back end hive/server files to fix the damn auto-repairing vehicles issue. Just keep checking the updates page for a new update that will fix the server/client side of the problem. The above is only true for ViLayer DayZ Package servers.. normal DayZ servers (ones that are connected to the official hive) should not be affected as they use the standard code released by the DayZ devs.
