Good post, factions/groups will clearly play their part in stand alone eventually and the most obvious objective of being in a faction, and indeed a necessity is for a “base”. Clearly as a member of a large community of gamers playing with members of the clan I play in I’m naturally all for clan related features and I would be excited at the prospect of large scale faction warfare between large factions using large strongholds as base camps. However after playing Day since launch, givng it a lot of thought from a clan perspective and after reading many other suggestions similar to yours I’m not sure I 100% agree with the fortification or annexeing of an entire towns or city though. First of all, a town is far too big to realistically expect a community to defend. Even the largest of groups would struggle, but generally speaking there just inst the player base consistently to warrant Eve style warfare. I think even this sort of idea were introduced on such a large scale it would compromise the integrity of two fundamental parts of the game, those being balance and sandbox freedom (i.e. no game/system enforced conditions). I personally think the most suitable and balanced way of faction having strong holds/camps is expanding upon what the system accommodates now, smaller isolated camps that users find and chose themselves, rather than designated towns on the map. These camps would be relevant to the size and intention of group/fraction that founds them. I would say yes, maybe apply your ideas to building ranging from small sheds, barns, increasing to large buildings such as schools or warehouses maybe, or even at an extreme (for larger groups) farms, compounds or small villages (based on several enterable buildings), but not entire, large towns or cities. This would have far too many complications and sacrifice too much to accommodate. I think it’s impractical and obviously potentially unbalanced. The reasons for this aare simple - any player should have as many reasons to play lone wolf (or in s small team) as there is to be part of a faction, obviously the benefits of both need to different and there also needs to be some consequences of their choices too. Then you would need to consider the freedoms of the game, that would mean player actions to enforce conditions rather than relying on the game mechanics enabling or preventing too much. This would mean bases and strongholds would have to be largely organised and maintain by the players and rely on the conditions they are realistically willing to carry out. Towns /cities are presently the main spawn points for most zombies and necessary loot in the game. If there are a couple of towns that have been annexed off by factions you are already talking some disruption to the game as far as zombie spawns are concerned are “safe”. Besides that I feel the towns/cities need to be the “battlegrounds” for us all – the place none of us want to go but need to, not sectioned off forts. They are meant to be dangerous and if the disease side of the game is meant to be expanded as much as we all hope and Rocket hints towards, the last place you would want to be is in a city infested with the dead, decayed corpses, insects and human waste! I’d say it would be more realistic, balanced and relevant that more manageable fortifications could be set up in larger, none essential spawn buildings, such as school houses, barns, farm houses, even standard houses, warehouse etc It could be upto the player if they decide these are going to be in cites, towns or rural areas. And once they are secured they should not be loot spawns. They should be purely for storing items and possibly some vehicles in the case of larger buildings. The securing of a strong hold I’ve always presumed would mean having destructible perimeters or something similar, kind of like fences that need to be maintained or repaired. I like the idea of a zombie “horde” that you mentioned, perhaps these hordes would spawn periodically around “strong” holds and their main purposes would be to restrict access/exit from strong holds as well as gradually reducing the strength of the perimeter. This would make provide a double edged sword for those who construct their fortification – on one hand the horde would almost certainly make it difficult for single or small unorganised teams to get access to the strong hold (as they would have to fight their way through the persistent horde first with their limited supplies as well as then destroy the perimeter security fence) but the perimeter fence would gradually reduce in it’s strength because of the horde and require regular and constant maintenance if it was to remain in tact. This means clans have objectives other than guns, bullets and vehicle related objectives - they now need various materials (wood, steel wire fence, barbed wire, etc), tools (not just a tool box, individual items such as hammers, nails, bolts, screw drivers, wire cutters etc) and assorted hardware supplies. This would mean there was a realistic tiem period that the fortification could withhold unmanned against zombies and most opportunists, but obviously not against a pre-arranged and organised attack from another faction. This means vigilance is still needed and obviously those who are prepared to have people regularly joining the server and “patrolling” or guarding the base will fare better than those who aren’t. All in all, yes I agree that there is a lot of potential for better faction related play and there should be done in game to encourage and reward it, but not so much as it's at the expense of those who arent affiliate to a group, or it encouraging fewer but larger groups. This should be something everyone can get involved in at some level.

Cool work man. Leader boards should be a part of the game to help track your progression and to give some players objectives, motives and even notoriety within the game world. I'm not sure if all of these are possible but Id like to see stats include information such as; - survival times (i.e. current, longest and shortest) - Distance walked/ran - Zombie kills (With headshot stats) - player kills (with stats for head shots) - Assists maybe (kills you have had a hand in) - accidental deaths maybe - humanity (highest/lowest instances, current instance, average ) - Weapon stats (such as number of times each weapon has been used, rounds fired, accuracy - Current load out - Activity times in game (i.e game world average times you play during) - Vehicle usage stats & info (what vehicles you have been in, how long for, distance travelled in etc) - Locations visited/ highest amount of time to lowest amount of time on various parts of the map - e.g. 10 hours spent in NW Airfield etc. - Food consumed, eg number of tins of beans, sardines, pasta etc eaten Mostly just ideals, like I say not sure if all of these are obtainable.- 1 reply

This sort of thing just comes with the territory when playing a mod/game in alpha state. There will be glitches and bugs that will force you to restart, and they're not limited to public servers. Playing on private only is perfectly fine, but if you'd like to play on public, the best thing you can do is find a few good servers that work well for you and you get good ping/fps and stick to those. Beyond that, to save your gear you do have the options of tents and vehicles to store gear in. If change servers and you get a glitch death or something, you merely have to get back to your tent and your gear is still there. Best of luck

Vehicles are stored in hive, and so they respawn at each server restart. You have to wait for some hive cleaning (which I think is performed regurlarly). (comment removed)

Hy Community, has anybody found a An2 Colt Biplane on an Offical Hive Server? I found all the other vehicles from 1.7.4.4 but i`ve never seen an An2 Plane. Does it Spawn on offical Hives ? and second question on which locations does it spawn. Greetings Mr Smokealoto

The zeds in Dynamic Zombie Sandbox are very scary. They are very damaging and will even tear apart your vehicles. I ran into a truck to try to escape and within a few seconds my windcreen was smashed and it caught on fire and exploded. -
I like to play on unofficial maps like Panthera and Namalsk with addtional weapons and vehicles. But I didn't find any wiki for the weapon statistics. For example, I really would like to know the weapon statistics for the L115A3 LRR or the Sa-61. Is there any way to find out this data (effective range, damage, audible range etc.)?

We are not a clan, we dont work as a clan, or like a clan. We want groups of people, Clans to make this server there home, interact with other groups of people, good or bad. This is what makes DayZ great, player interaction. With most clans having there own server, They run as a clan server. They rule and own the land, vehicles and anything in it. Anyone joining gets picked off and killed. LOL runs as a community, we have many bands of groups working against and with each other to create adventures in DayZ, all coming across each other in game creating different adventures each time. With the kill messages and name tags switched off. You have to judge everything by your own and your own eyes. This allows people to play as they want. Server Details 3rd person Death messages Care packages Wrecks 500 Vehicle Limit no name tags no kill messages Map:Chernarus Restart: 12hours Server IP: 5.63.147.44 - Port: 3085 Forum We have a forum, each faction is separated, Bandits cant read the heroes section and vice versa. How do I get my server reset? Hackers spawned in ammo boxes, crates, c130s, and many many more static objects and hacked in vehicles. There is also a thunder dome. Upon telling this to the support at clanforge, they said they only way for the removal of it would be through dayzmod.com. They then closed my ticket and I couldn't find any info on how to do this. I opened a new ticket and asked them to do it for me: http://vvcap.net/db/156nRVEP9p1Ti20C_kWX.htp ... So, what do I have to do to get my server reset? Every time the server restarts these vehicles and hacked objects show up everywhere! It's an absolute mess. I'd really appreciate being pushed in the right direction. Thanks.

I'm all for private servers. And if people want all friendly no PvP that's fine with me. I think it defeats the purpose of the game, but to each their own. I found a server where working vehicles were so common, it was easier to find a new ride than a jerry can. Every few minutes a Little Bird or Huey flew overhead. IMHO, it makes for a faster, more interesting game. But I'm sure the DayZ purist would say that vehicles should be rare items that take hours to repair. -

I play on this server, and let me tell you.... Share in Faction loot tents, get outfitted in minutes, and get picked up by helo! Shared vehicles (some, dont touch my SUV, lol), shared AND private tents... plus a huge part of the map that is a FACTION SAFEZONE. Hang out, without getting sniped in the SafeZone, have a chemlight party or grill some steaks. Come play with us!

I'l try to explain my idea the best I can, first these are the ranks: Private: Lowest rank, a trainee who’s starting in the clan primary role is to carry out orders issued to them to the best of his/her ability. Private First Class: Pretty much the same as a private, but its recognized by having a good shoot technique and aim, or by having a superior gun. (Yes, the Private First Class, can be removed when you lose your "good gun" and don't have a good aiming, can be gained if you get another one, more than a rank is an status for the privates.) Corporal: Serves as a default team leader if no other higher ranks are available they are responsible for the Privates. Sergeant: Typically commands a squad (3-5). Considered to have the greatest impact on Soldiers because they oversee them in their tasks. In short, Sergeants set an example and the standard for Privates to look up to, and live up to. Sergeant First Class: Key assistant and advisor to the platoon leader. Generally has some experience and puts it to use by making quick, accurate decisions in the best interests of the squads. (The Sargeant First Class is a status, just like the First Class Private.) Warrant Officer: Warran Officers are technically and tactically focused officers who perform the primary duties of technical leader, trainer, operator, manager, maintainer, sustainer, and advisor. Captain: Its an advisor to the squads, and member of the second generation squad, they use to be more experienced players. (The second generation squad its a more specialized squad the integrants must be Sergeant+ but can be in normal squads too, most of the time they are going to be send to the North West Airfield, Stary Sobor and other good loot spawning points of the map, they are sent to kill other players, recover vehicles or even steal them.) Colonel: Second member of the second squad, second in command, usually has alot of experience in the game, knows alot of the map, and knows some good strategys. General: Admins of the game and extremely good players. This list is a way to categorize members, the won't limit them in the game, If it gets approved, we will use it to make a better strategy, since its not good to bulk all together and go raid the same place at the same time, the squads are not limited by rank we will use what we can use for example, there can be a squad with one General, 2 Privates and one Warrant Officer. -
So far I've found the little bird, the hind, and one of the green off road vehicles. I've flown both helis and have driven the off road vehicle.

Server Restarted, Re Added Blown Up Cars/Air Vehicles. It hasnt even been more than 12hrs on Traviana and all the C130's are blown up by fail pilots and alot of the other new air vehicles are destroyed as well. lolz -

Updated 27Dec12 Rules: -No hacking, obviously. -No voice in side chat, unless your group is the only individuals on the server. -Combat logging STRONGLY discouraged. If we hear too many reports of such, warnings and eventually bans will be handed out. Current state of The Shack: -As of this writing(27Dec12), the server seems to have picked up a few regular groups. The night-time crew has filled out, as has the morning crew. People seem to be staking their claims, and developing positive and negative relationships towards one another. This is good, and what we want to see. We've seen some very creative uses of the large number of vehicles provided, some fairly epic groups formed, and equally epic fights on the ground and in the sky. -There are a few issues with map bugs - to be expected with such a new map. Current bugs as of this writing(13Dec12) are: 1) Sometimes people spawn in deep water. Contact admin to see if we can help you out. [update: should be fixed in tavi2.0] [update #2, this does not appear to be occurring any longer.] 2) Players logging in may find themselves in the same location they left, but in a swimming state. Moving around some seems to fix the issue. If it does not, contact admin. [update: should be fixed in tavi2.0] [update #2: This bug persists with less frequency. Workaround remains the same - move in a direction until you pop up, or if near a vehicle, get in and get out.] 3) A player has reported that his gun/packpack went missing between logging off and logging back in. Admin have not been able to replicate the bug, but some players have decided to place essential weapons and gear in vehicles before logging off. Update 18Dec12: It's been five days and so far we have been unable to replicate this bug. We're assuming it was a one-off event. 4) There is an error at login associated with one of the building types added to the map. There seems to be no ill effect to the error, and we have determined that the building in question adds far more value than the annoyance of the message takes away. Also provides combat loggers with an annoying window, so hah. This has been fixed. 5) In-game repeating messages seem to be broken again - rules posted above in the meantime, warnings will be given out manually more frequently. [update: haven't found a specific fix yet, but hopefully will be included in next bliss update] 6) Using the 'refuel' option while in a vehicle will result in BE kicking the player with a script restriction 44 error. This is a known bug, and apparently a workaround is in development. Note that this does not extend to using the 'refuel from x vehicle' option offered when near a refueling truck - this still works perfectly. UPDATE: The refuel option will work without kick if you are in/on a fuel station. It is only outside of these locations where you will be kicked for using the refuel option. [update: fix in the wind between tavi2.0, new bliss, and Ersan magic] [update again - looks like Ersan magic worked first. just tested, no kick.] -Darkness has been set to around 11pm PST. The rationale for this time instead of 24hr daytime is to allow people who work or go to school to still enjoy DayZ with daylight without completely de-valuing night-time equipment or denying individuals the relatively easier looting to be had at night. -We have set some non-spawning weapons to show up inside of certain vehicles. Check those vehicles, people! Expected future features: -The next version of DayZ(1.7.5) should include: 1) The G36 family of weapons added to loot spawns, 2) The SA.58(vZ.58) family of weapons added to loot spawns, 3) The M40A3 added to loot spawns, 4) The MH-6J littlebird, 5) Zombies spawning while players are in vehicles(no more rolling through empty towns) 6) Zombies damaging vehicle glass. Once glass is gone, players inside vehicles may be damaged. 7) Zombies pulling players from open vehicles. 8) Gender selection screen. 9) Combat mode activated by more events(zombies damaging players) 10) Mi-17 and UH-1H door guns max ammo of 100. 11) Crash sites won't spawn at restart, but rather at random intervals throughout the game. 12) Cargo space of helis and some aircraft reworked; Mi-17 now holds double what the UH-1H can hold, and the AN-2 is a transport monster. 13) Czech vest pouch now holds 12 slots. 14) Zombies talk to each other when within 100m of each other? (no idea what this means, but it'll be fun to find out!) 15) Loads of bugfixes. -The next version of the Taviana map(2.0) should include the following: [update: All now available, undergoing last bit of second stage testing, no major issues yet. Will be deploying over the next ten days or so] 1) M7 Maule bushplane. Hell yeah, a bushplane that isn't huge. 2) Repair trucks. Administration is currently discussing how best to implement these. They may become as rare as fuel trucks are in the current map. 3) UAZ with DShKM HMG. We're particularly excited about this, as the DShKM should provide effective counter to the heavier helos. The DayZ Taviana guys were particularly smart in adding variable ammo counts for armed vehicles - which gives us another tool in which to balance things. 4) MV-22 Osprey. Not sure how we'll handle this - it might just provide the best of both worlds where the C130 and heavy helos are concerned. Balance will be an issue. 5) The GAZ Vodnik and GAZ Vodnik MedEvac. Administration to debate how best to add these(would have really preferred the BRDM-2 HQ - amphibious capability would have been interesting). 6) The Kamaz family of deuce and a half equivalent trucks. More variance in the MTVR/Ural class of vehicles will be nice. 7) HMMWV Ambulance with healing disabled. 8) C-130J without radar, although radar-enabled version is still available. 9) Loads of bugfixes(wood easier to gather, spawning in while swimming issues resolves, etc) FAQs -"I saw a player with a weapon/vehicle that is not in DayZ! Is he a hacker?" Probably not. We have set many access paths to obtain weapons that do not naturally spawn, and just about every vehicle has been tested at some point or another. -"Can you spawn me a car tire?" No. (I was thinking the FAQ might have been a bad idea until I got a decent question:) -"Why are you running the taviana.com version of Taviana instead of the .eu version?" Fair question. Taken at face value as of this writing(18Dec12) and using the 1.7.4.4 version of taviana.com, the .eu version is probably a superior map. We feel that the development of the taviana.com version will put us closer to our goals with the server through a wider selection of vehicles and very open development staff. We can easily track all changes coming in the pipeline and make plans based on that information. We have every confidence that the taviana.com version will be as valid an option as the taviana.eu version in the near future. [any other questions? post 'em up and we'll answer them] -
I'd recommend doing a little troubleshooting to see what works. Spawn in, find some form of loot, can even be an empty can, then relog and/or change servers and see if it is still there. This is probably no way to regain what you lost from the first server, but you can test other ones to rule out this issue on your side. All else fails, just reinstall, your private hive gear should be fine. As for that lack of a character model, I actually experienced that on one of my servers I played on. At least for me, in first person I looked a bit like soldier clothing, and since that skin isn't supported by dayz, there is no model for it. You are basically invisible. I tried everything I could think of to get rid of it, but nothing worked, I ended up having to abandon that server, one of which I had 3 vehicles and 2 tents on. But life goes on. Thankfully that's a server side issue.

Everyone is welcomed to play. We are a growing community , With active members. Admins are online 24/7. Our admins are 18+ with plenty experience.
