    SobchakZ Custom Mod Private Hive

Hi DayZ Community, I would like to introduce you our Private Hive Server, which runs a customized version of DayZ. Server Settings Map: Chernarus 50 Slot Server Veteran 3rd Person: on Waypoints: on Crosshair: off Nametags: off GMT -5 Automated restarts every six hours (12:00 AM, 06:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 06:00 PM) Over 70 vehicles (You can find a list in our forum) Custom Mod Now you guys are probably wondering, what makes your custom Mod different to the regular DayZ? Well we revamped the loottables to make the game more survival-like. Weapons are rarer, food is much rarer, backpacks are rarer (having one is luxus). Stary Sobor now has its own loottables to make the loot of higher tier than the usual military loot (but not as high tier as the barracks). Before I write down everything, I think it is better to make a list about the most important features: New buildings added to make not interesting villages interesting Revamped the NW Airfield, NE Airfield and Green Mountain Added random military- and hospitalbases throughout the land of Chernarus HD textures for the Ghillie suit Unflip function for vehicles and bikes New temp, hunger, thirst, and blood icon You can drink on wells without the need of having a waterbottle Over 20 new lootable skins Over 30 new and balanced weapons The old bandit skin makes a return Completely removed all peripheral dots and included Zombies spawn at a much further distance so you cant tell from zombies that players are nearby Zombies and loot spawn although you're in a vehicle Barracks have a higher Chance of spawning weapons than generic loot New forces of nature (earthquake, snow, wind etc.) A custom Debug Monitor (Not a debug monitor anymore, it just shows your stats) Removed most of the trash etc from the roads And also we have added random zombiehordes, which are roaming through the woods and valleys of Chernarus. I have a little video of me stumbling upon a horde (a relatively small horde ;)), while testing the mod. It also shows the new weathereffects (wind, snow, dense fog (these are not the default settings, the weather is still dynamic)), which add a completely new atmosphere to the game. Also it shows the custom debug monitor and the new GUI icons. Notice how beautiful and scary DayZ can look like: Getting the mod and Installation If you are interested in playing this mod, all you have to do is download it here: Click! and unzip it into your Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory. Now if you have the DayZ Commander, just change the Dayz Directory in the settings from @dayZ to @sobchakZ and you're ready to play. Now you can either filter the server by typing in: sobchakZ in your ingame browser, or you enter our server over the ip: 46.4.36.84:2322 Community and Teamspeak So we are offering you a new server (all vehicles have just spawned, no players with high end gear), which is actively administrated (there is literally no time, where no admin or moderator isn't online). That of course offers a really short reaction time to get rid of hackers. Keep in mind, since the server is now the first time introduced to public, we don't have many regular players, other than from our community. Hopefully some of you guys will get excited in the mod, so that you will join us. We have a nice little german community of gamers. There we have a forum, where you can report bugs or hackers, find the latest updates for the mod, ask questions or simply talk to other players. The Forum can be found here: Click! We also host a public Teamspeak 3 Server, which you can find under the ip: 46.4.36.84 If you have questions don't hesitate to contact an admin or server moderator. We hope to see you soon!

  4. After fighting with hackers for three weeks, and practically pulling my hair out sifting through logs, I have decided to go with a password only server. The server is up this now as a "trial with no membership" so you can just log on, and try it out. I am using a blogspot page for membership requests. Script kiddies are everywhere, and at times on my old Chernarus map I'm fairly certain over half the players had some sort of exploit, or spawned gear, invulnerability, invisible vehicles, radar, no grass, etc, etc. It's sad, and while I didn't play on the server myself regularly, even I was effected on a couple unarmed Hero/Bambi rescue missions, and that was despite spending maybe 2 hours total time on the server! Passwords make it more personal, and if it can weed out even more cheaters, then that is what we will do! Dayz is too awesome of a game for me to let them ruin it for the people who play fairly, and enjoy the challenges of the game. If you would prefer some anonymity you can still apply for membership by simply messaging the blogspot community site I will provide below. Also there is a Ventrilo server, although I am seldom on it myself. I am going to do my best to provide a great server for people to experience Dayz. http://shastasdayz.blogspot.com/ A little about my server; We have just launched a Taviana server, which I am very pleased with. The map has been modified slightly to have slightly fewer .50 Cal sniper guns, and fewer military grade vehicles as a percentage of the total allowable vehicle count. While PvP is always an adrenaline rush in Dayz, this is probably not the server for a militant "squad" that prefers only PvP with other squads. My server consisted of mostly groups of 2 to 5 friends and survivors. The zeds hit hard, and there are plenty of them. I am fairly active as an admin, but would like to have a community that needs very little policing. I am not planning on playing on this server as Arma2, and Namalsk has taken up nearly all my game time, but I might make an occasional unarmed Bambi rescue. It's a good, persistent community, and side chat will not be abused. We do love our Bandits too, though! All play styles are welcome, we can just do without the cheaters. I have 50 slots, but will increase to 65, and possibly 100 as needed. Because of time zones, I expect to have 100-120 members. Dayz commander entry; DayzTaviana|ShastasDayz01 IP; 173.192.200.76 port-3238 Again the passwords will be required in February, before that time you can still come in, and check it out. Recently switched to an East Coast US host! Great performance.
  5. got in finally thank you dayz commander. loving the new map and vehicles. i flew a C130 and a harrier Osprey all in one night, freaking epic!!!!

    My DayZ review

So you have wandered into this DayZ mod and you want to know more about it? Well, I will tell you what I can. Keep in mind this is from my own perspective and is only an opinion. The Good Big open world environment, lots of items and weapons, post apocalyptic zombies (who doesn’t like zombies?), vehicles, an interesting hunger/thirst system. The Bad Incredibly clunky controls, All in-game signs are written in Russian, almost no character customization (everybody looks almost exactly the same), a massive population of hackers/cheaters, no persistent character advancement, very anti-social community. The Review Over the last few weeks a number of friends started playing this game mod en-masse. They seemed to be enjoying it. So I asked them some questions about the game and decided to pick it up so I could play with them. I have played my fair share of games over the years, although I knew a few of the problems with this title before buying, I felt I could manage. The first major hurdle was learning the control scheme. I must say that these are some of the worst and most clunky shooter controls I have ever learned. The resident evil series remains on top of the list for clunky controls, but only barely. DayZ tries to be a first person shooter with standard controls. But they are very complex and half the time do not function properly. These controls are so clunky that I could write an entire page describing how bad they are. As “The Angry Video Game Nerd” would say, they are bad – like Dark Castle Bad. If you haven’t played it, you have no idea how shitty these controls are. Aiming is nearly impossible, and picking up items is like attempting to pick up a melting ice cube with only your elbows. And for the love of god – don’t try to climb ladders, you have a good chance of just falling off and breaking your legs. Speaking of broken legs. Everything can break your leg. You can trip over a fence and break your leg. Yes I just said that. Walk up to a fence, press the proper key to step ever-so-slowly over it, and viola~! Your leg is now broken and you are bleeding out on the ground. Opening a door is even worse, if you are standing in the wrong spot when you open it, the door will hit you, possibly glitching you inside a building, which will break your leg, wound you, and possibly knock you out. Zombies hitting you can also break bones far too easily. The zombie runs up, hits you once on the chest, you fall down with a broken leg, bleeding, and knocked unconscious, the zombie then chews on your unconscious broken body till you die. Zombies also zig zag all over the place, randomly teleport short distances, or glitch through walls doors and buildings. This makes zombies quite difficult to kill without getting hit and very possibly giving you a broken leg and knocking you out in a single blow. Fun times. Then there are travel times. Think incredibly long. If you remember Oblivion you may be familiar with extremely large game maps, DayZ is roughly equivalent in size and a lot more boring. So you start the game, it randomly drops you in a starting area, and you decide to go meet up with your friends. Expect to spend the next hour (or possibly two!) running across the landscape just to reach their location. There is no fast travel system of any sort. And if you happen to be killed, expect to start all over again. This leads to my next point. Nothing is persistent in regards to your character. If you die, everything you own is dropped on the ground, anyone can take everything you had, and there are no sort of learned character skills which can be built up as you progress. This encourages players to simply kill each other to quickly obtain items and equipment. Expect to start at square one with a fresh character for most of your DayZ experience. Then there are the hackers. Oh yes. This game has a massive amount of Hackers and Cheaters. Almost always their entire goal is to ruin your day. I had heard a horror story of one from one of my friends before I started. He had a run-in with a cheater who teleported him out into an endless flat plain and left him there. He could not die, he sat there in game for literally 4 hours real time till his character eventually starved to death – finally allowing him to start playing again. I figured it could not be too bad, the game designers must be aware of the hacking and be actively trying to stop it right? Not so. As it turns out, DayZ is incredibly easy to hack and has been since its inception – just google 'Arma II ***/hacks' if you want and find out. The game has an anti-cheat system installed, but it obviously does not work. This leads to players with ultimate equipment, teleporting around, killing everyone, modifying the game world, spawning vehicles, items, and generally abusing other players in an effort to get their twisted jollies. Finally I should address the community. This games 'end-game' seems to be purely designed around fighting other players. It has a veneer coating in the form of a large, post apocalyptic world. Initially the goal seems to be survive and gather items to perpetuate your survival. But beyond that there is absolutely no goal. No quests, no storyline, no faction groups to align or fight against, no area to run from or get to -- Just you and some other players in a large zombie infested game map. Someone I know summed it up for me in a rather disturbing way, he said; “other survivors are like item filled meat bags”. The idea being – to simply kill them and take their stuff. Most people playing this game seem to regard this as their goal. Since you can’t trust anyone else, it is easier to simply shoot everything on sight – making this game Call Of Duty with zombies. It also creates an incredibly anti-social environment for new players. Since the world is full of cheaters, hackers, and people who get their jollies from generally abusing and hurting others. There are also a surprising number of people who do not care about items, they just get a sniper rifle, sit up in some well-traveled area, and shoot as many people as they can. Now don ‘t take this the wrong way, I completely understand what makes games centered around PvP fun. I just do not think it fits in a game where most players are just trying to survive against hordes of zombies. This is not some sort of ‘Left 4 Dead’ where some players are zombies and others are real players, This is purely real live players vs ai controlled zombies initially. It is player choice which causes people to attack each other – and often it is over petty items. I read a post a while ago where a player gleefully described shooting someone simply to get their matches. He could just have easily found his own matches, or shared the fire with the strangers, or teamed up with them until he found his own. But instead he chose to kill these random strangers for a pack of matches… I still feel sickened and disturbed by his actions. And this is common behavior! It seems it is not enough that most people in this game world are dead already, the survivors feel this need to kill each other rather than working together. Synopsis This is DayZ. The game rewards those who hurt others. There is no punishment for harmful behavior. Turning the game into an incredibly antisocial environment. When combined with the prevalence of hacking, amazingly clunky controls, a written in-game language which most of the world can not speak, a very glitchy game world, bugged zombies, glitchy buildings, and killer doors, a complete lack of character advancement, no storyline/factions/quests. There is very little reason to play this game. So why did I try to play it for the last week? Three reasons. I enjoy games in a post apocalyptic setting. I had a number of friends playing it. I could not return it and get my money back. However I can no longer justify playing it for these reasons. So I felt it was time to post a bit about my experiences and shelve this title. If you are a player looking for good post apocalyptic games, check out the following titles: Fallout 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, Id Software's RAGE, Wasteland, Metro 2033, or maybe even Borderlands 1 or Borderlands 2. For games due out in the future, keep an eye on Survarium (a free-to-play game made by the same people who made the excellent STALKER series), and Metro Last Light - both due out in 2013. But stay far away from DayZ.
  7. Friday 1st Feb - 7:30 - 11:30 GMT - Wireworld Survivor Special Event, rules and details below: Survivor Special Rules Server will be running a clean database for this event, your usual characters WONT be affected. Squad All participants should form a squad of up to 4 players and submit the names to [email protected] before the event start. Please also pick a name for you squad as this will be expected to be worn as a tag on the night. Pre-Event Please be on teamspeak with the rest of your squad half an hour before the event is due to start. As this will give us time to make sure everybody understands what is expected of them. Start All Players will be spawned in together on the map with no weapons at all. Every player will start with a tent in their inventory as this will be the only way to store loot that counts towards your final score. You can then run off and play the game however you see fit. End The server will shutdown after 3 and a half hours of play time. During the last 2 minutes of play time please do not shoot anybody or pick up/change any gear, we need to give the server time to back up. Please make a note of vehicles you have left at any point in the game and leave at least 3 distinct items in the inventory (e.g. painkillers, morphine, can of coke) and write down the vehicle you have left and what is in it. We will then ask people at the end what vehicles they have left and what is in them and people will get points for operational vehicles, but not for vehicle inventories. Rules These are not in any particular order!! 1. During the last 2 minutes of play time please do not shoot anybody or pick up/change any gear, we need to give the server time to back up. 2. Shooting opposing players whether they are armed or unarmed is allowed. 3. Hiding bodies is allowed. 4. Combat logging is not allowed. This means if you have been shot at recently and/or are pinned down/surrounded by the enemy, you do not log off. 5. Logging off in non-combat circumstances is allowed. Though we will not accept “substitutes” (i.e. one player switching for another in the team). 6. Farming/loot cycling is allowed. This means you are allowed to remove loot from an area, so more can spawn in. 7. Duping is not allowed. We have had some problems with previous builds which made this easy, but it should now be a lot harder to do. Any instances of duping will result in disqualification from the game and possibly the server. 8. Shooting another player’s vehicle(s) is allowed. 9. Stealing from other players is allowed. 10. Killing yourself to get a better spawn position is allowed. 11. Camping positions on the map is allowed (even if you are sniping in Cherno!!). 12. Only player inventories and tent inventories count towards your final score! Vehicle inventories do not. Teamspeak All users will be required to use our teamspeak server. You will be assigned a channel for your squad. Please show some restraint/respect when wanting to talk to other squads. i.e. DO NOT jump in their channel until you are certain conflict with that squad is finished! Also, if players request you leave their channel upon joining it, then please respect that and leave. Tents Tents will score the same points whether they are in your inventory or erected on the map. You cannot “take possession” an opposing team’s tent. If you have placed a tent then it and all of the contents placed inside it will belong to your team for the rest of the game! So the best thing to do if you find a tent not belonging to your team is steal from it everything you require and/or destroy it. Vehicles/Aircraft Most important to note: Points will only be awarded for vehicles/aircraft that are functional at the end of the game. INVENTORIES OF VEHICLES WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR SCORE Squads will be allowed to repair vehicles and use them however they see fit. It is vital when leaving a vehicle/aircraft that you record the contents of the vehicle/aircraft and make a rough note of its position on the map and whether it is functional (i.e. operates normally). Make sure you leave at least 3 items in the vehicle! We will test the functionality of all of the vehicles after the server has closed. You can “take possession” of an enemy vehicle. It is vital that you change the inventory slightly when you have taken possession of the vehicle, so that I know it no longer belongs to the other group. Vehicles can be glitch/bugged in DayZ. If you come across a vehicle that is then it is just bad luck. We will consider helicopters that are out of fuel and have moved from their spawn point and only require fuel to work again as probably being a glitch when closing the server and still award points for the vehicle. We have limited Team spaces for this event, please book your slot asap Kind regards Mr Mac & Mr Jack

What's your best moment in DayZ?

My best moment was actually my latest character. I hadn't played DayZ for a long time until the day before yesterday. I started playing Namalsk, and I instantly fell in love with this map and the new way of playing, especially since this server had more vehicles. It started with me hearing a chopper crash and decided to avoid the smoke I saw in the distance because I figured there'd be some decked out dudes ready to shoot anyone. I headed down to the river where I saw a Fisherman's boat in the distance. This is the first boat I've ever gotten in DayZ. It took me about an hour to swim over to it and this dropped my temperature so much that my character started shaking like crazy and coughing all the time. But the boat worked thankfully, I took off. But I noticed the boat didn't have much fuel. So I just decided I should probably be able to get somewhere before it runs out. I drove the boat for a while until I saw what looked like a military complex on the right side of the river. I thought about going there but then just decided to keep going. Then I heard gunshots, and sure enough those bullets started hitting the side of my boat from the military complex. I looked and looked but I couldn't see anyone at all. Thankfully he wasn't a very good shot and just kept shooting the boat all while not damaging it. But just as soon as I started to get away, the boat ran out of fuel and completely shut down. I tried to get it to work, but it was no use and the bullets were getting closer to me. So I dived out of the boat leaving it in the middle of the river and using it as cover as I took a while to get back to the shore of the island that I was on. I got back in the water safely and there were no more gunshots. I surveyed the military complex and still couldn't see anyone. But now I had an objective, I set out to find some fuel and bring it back to the boat. I eventually came upon an industrial complex and snuck inside a warehouse that was surrounded by zombies. I searched through it and eventually found a Jerry Can. I think started to sneak my way back out but while I was in the door way, BAM, gunshots scared the crap out of me and the bullets where hitting right next to me. I quickly prone rolled back inside and ran up the warehouse stairs. In all my time of playing DayZ before, I had never been in a firefight, I always just got shot and died. But I was ready this time. As I waited for the shooter to come through the door, I realized something. The gun he was using sound exactly like the gun the gunman who was shooting my boat was using. I thought maybe this was the same guy. I waited for a little bit longer but I never heard footsteps or anything. Then the server reset. I had had enough intensity for that day, so I logged off. Now today, I came back to the game. Now that I had the Jerry Can, I made the run back to my boat. The server had reset a lot of times, and it had been a whole day, but to my immense surprise, my boat was still there, sitting in the exact same spot I left it. I swam out to the boat and used my Jerry Can on it. Got a confirmation that it had filled the boat up to 20. I got in the boat, but it wouldn't move. The fuel meter was still empty. So basically this was a futile trip. While I was seeing what was wrong with my boat, I turned around to the shore and noticed someone standing on the beach watching me. Scared me, but I noticed he was talking to me in the chat. He said "Hello out there. Is that boat working?" I explained the situation to him to which he replied it sucked and he was sorry. Then he ran off into the forest. This guy could have shot me right there, and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, but he decided to be friendly and leave me be. One of the few times I've encountered someone like that. So, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try refueling one more time. I returned to the industrial complex to find that two more Jerry Cans had spawned... and there was a chopper. I didn't know how to fly a chopper but I was sure as hell going to try. I snuck my way to the Jerry Cans and picked one up. But I didn't have time to clear my backpack for the second Jerry Can because I noticed not far from me, there was a horde of zombies running around. Then I saw a player. I freaked out, and ran for it. If I had tried to fly the chopper, this man most likely would have shot me out of it before I could lift off. So with only one Jerry Can, I made my way back to my boat which was yet again, still there. But this time, over at the military complex, there was a chopper, looked like it was picking people up. I was so distracted by it that when I got closer to my boat I ran right in to a player with a double barrel. He turned around and saw me and ran past me. I figured he was friendly, so I turned and started running to my boat. But bam, he shot me right in the back. Thankfully it didn't make me bleed, so I ran around so he couldn't get a second shot on me. My adrenaline was pumping, I had never fought another player. I had done my best the whole time I've played DayZ to only shoot zombies. But this time, it was him or me. So with his second shot of and him reloading, I took this my first shot. This was the first time I had even fired a weapon with this character. It hit him, but he shot back, hitting me and making me bleed this time. We ran and circled each other, he shot and missed. I took a shot, keep in mind, this was all in third person on Veteran without crosshairs. I broke his leg with that shot and down he went. I couldn't get a good shot on him while he was down, so I risked going in to first person. My character was sick and his temperature was as low as possible. He was shaking uncontrollably, making first person view very difficult. Then, the guy finished reloading and took another shot and me. He broke my legs, but as soon as he did, my shotgun was pointed right at his head. I shot and finally, it was over. Death confirmation popped up, and he completely lied down. My character collapsed his legs broken and having lost so much blood that my vision was pure black and white, blurry and shakey. I quickly bandaged my self up. I sat and rested because that was crazy. The first firefight I've ever been in. I could still see my boat, and I started crawling to the edge of the shore. But with my hunger at critical levels, my blood basically completely gone, and my temperture as low as possible, I died not long after with the boat in my view, the helicopter from the military complex flying over me and the jerry can in my inventory. I then messaged on side chat telling everyone that my boat was out there and my body had a Jerry can on it. That was utterly my most amazing playthrough on DayZ.

    AS50 vs M107

I am sniping a lot (ArmA2, ACE, Wasteland and of course DayZ) and I have to agree with the other guys. I recommend to use the AS50. Reasons: 1.) It is really quiet - your opponents have a lot more problems to estimate your position. (Compared to the M107 which I like to call the "Death Star" - hear it and you know why ^^) 2.) Damage is higher (if you use the NATO rounds) 3.) You can use the M107 rounds in the AS50 - more bullets, but lower damage. You should use the NATO rounds against vehicles and the M107 for soft targets (it is a OHK with both ammo types). 4.) Max range for the AS50 is 1600 m (M107 is on 1200 m) The MilDot issue is known - I think the reason for that is, that the AS50 is a British weapon. (They use another unit of length instead of meters). But if you are playing a lot you will learn to estimate the distance to your target. Summary: If you can choose between the AS50 and the M107 - the AS50 is winning in all categories. Noise, damage and range.

    Pro Tips Please

I agree with everyones' advice and I'll add/repeat. - If you hear shots or think someone is shooting at you, keep on moving but never in a straight line. Move unpredictably, get walls, trees, rocks, vehicles (whatever is available) in between you and where you think the shots are coming from. Duck in and out of places, make yourself hard to focus on. - Like Doomsday says, only shoot your gun when you are out of other options. You will draw attention and tell everyone where you are. - Never run across fields unless: 1) you are the only one on the server 2) the only other person on the server is your mum, or 3 you want to die. - If you don't personally know someone do not let them stand anywhere close to you because they can easily steal from your backpack. So keep anything precious, like morphine, on your person, not in the backpack. - Don't worry too much about primary weapons. If you have to, you can kill with an axe in most close range situations. If the other person is a sniper then you've little chance of survival anyway. Well, unless it's some 12 year old aiming like a monkey with an explosive banana. Edit: Oh and trust no one except me. I really am entirely trustworthy. :beans:
  11. it does work on helis and i dont think you dont have to wait between refueling vehicles but you can only do one at once i believe.

    Mature 18+ Chivers!

Still looking for any DayZ bandits or heros over 18 who want to join up. We always have a surplus of weapons and vehicles and are willing to share our riches! If you don't see anyone in KCCO, we are in another server. Join the teamspeak and we'll gladly give you the IP.
  13. Hey everyone were lookin for more players over at the BlackBandits Warzone private hive! Now with 2 custom cities and barracks in elektro and cherno there is endless possibility's to earn your riches! Curious how your going to get to all these towns before others? Don't worry about the server has 200+ vehicles all over the map. You can join at 198.136.25.138:2402 or BlackBandits Warzone
  14. Add a 24/7 or business hours customer service whichever I need to chat to someone if I ever get an error or my server get screwed or I need help. I don't like going to the forum asking question and none of my post gets reply, "Why aren't my vehicles not spawning?" then 2 to 6 weeks later no responses and email service blows as well. The only thing I like from DayZ.ST is the live tools I can see my players anywhere on the map online or offline, can give players items, and spawn vehicles or add spawn points on the private server.

    Main hive anarchy

I still play on Hive servers. Dont really like private hives, Sure I haven't seen a blatant teleporting hacker, but i cant take all the mods and custom bases, custom crap and 30000 vehicles in one server. It just doesnt have the feel original DayZ had. Just like I like Vanilla Counter Strike or any other game without 200+ mods on a server. I cant wait for the standalone, for one there will be less hackers. 2, there will be consistency

    EASY MODE!

It's the old saying , "Why does a dog lick it's balls ? Because it can." Why do 90% of the servers now , have side chat , crosshairs and third person enabled ? Of those servers , 50% have "More guns and over 500 vehicles" . Of those servers 30% have "Start with weapon!" Soon enough , we will require James Cameron to do what James Cameron does because he is James Cameron .

    EASY MODE!

What the hell? Easy settings? Its ludicrous and to be honest I'm tired of hearing these sorts of requests to make things easier. This is how it should be seen: Rocket decides "I'm making a game" He then makes the game, and we play it. THATS IT. Just because we think stuff should be in it doesn't mean its part of his vision. He may use some of the stuff we say as inspiration or problem solving, but if it doesn't fit the concept then its wrong. The concept in a nutshell is its a hardcore apocalypse survival sim, where you have to struggle. He takes a risk simply by sticking to this concept because games aren't made this way usually. The devs try to give the consumers what they want so they'll get sales. Making the game easy is the biggest load of shit I've heard. Why not just make a server where loot spawns all over the floor and vehicles are everywhere and zombies do 1% damage when they hit you. If an artist paints a picture, you dont say "I wanted more red in that." You may say you do or don't like it, but its up to him what to paint and up to you to choose whether you want to buy it. I hate the infinite servers with all their options. Whats the real DayZ then? Which one is closest to what Rocket wanted? Not many I bet.

    Thoughts on the M107 / AS50

I think the 107 at least should stay because it is possible American (or NATO) troops would mobilize and along with their current arsenal, include a .50 caliber rifle in case of scenarios that they needed them like disabling vehicles that belong to bandits. In order to balance the larger rifles, the crosshair should be removed in all difficulties and in order to shoot without a ridiculous amount of sway, you must first get into "position" which includes lying prone and folding out your bipod. Someone earlier said we should have no scopes and semi/full auto weapons so that leaves... Lee Enfields for everyone!
  19. Active admins and a variety of maps. Not a huge fan of whitelisting (my month old Balota Buddies application is proof of this, tried a few times to go into teamspeak but I have bad timing apparently) but I do understand why many private communities use this tool. I can take or leave the starting gear, finding decent stuff is really not that hard after you get the hang of the game but I do enjoy easy access to vehicles. I am starting to rethink my aversion to whitelisting though, the private servers I have been frequenting lately (anzuswargames) have become very popular and with those full server lists the hackers have been getting a little more prevalent. They are very quick to drop the banhammer and even have extra detection but another layer of protection could be effective but would also drop server population so a double edged sword. Edit: Nice to see Derpy Hooves, been awhile since I saw a post from him and was starting to worry. Edit: Whitelisted last night and had a blast. Not that hard of a process, I am just lazy but it was quick and painless.

Public Hive Hosting, Development, Maintenance, SECURITY moving forward?

I don't have the time to through all of this but some of the statements you make are flawed. The vehicle ID position and contents are all stored server side, the hive only checks to see if the allowed number of vehicles are there which it screws up on a lot and they have to go through and run a script to remove duped stuff and illegal set pieces (cargo crates, ships, thunderdomes etc)... SOMETIMES you can get away with shutting the server down for a couple minutes and restarting it and upon reconnecting with the hive it detects banned items and removes them but it does not clean out the duped tents or the duped unbanned vehicles.... Public hive vehicles are server side, for example the UH1 has 5 or however many possible locations on a public hive server in chernarus, but on each server they spawn in the same spot EVERY time they get destroyed... Originally due to the spawn chance percentage you weren't guaranteed to EVER have one spawn, and if it did and no one accessed it that day it did not become get stored as existing on your server... someone had to save the vehicle... so it would be gone after the next restart and it would be a throw of the dice every restart after that as to whether or not it would spawn again....Only when it's been accessed and manually saved by a player did it save as a persistant vehicle. Then again it's location is stored on the server... that's why only gear transfers from server to server in the public hive not vehicles and tents.... ONLY player location and equipment and health are stored in the Public Hive... The rest of it just checks to ensure that the server's DB isn't corrupted with banned items. Banlist is spotty, BUT I have a good feeling that "Doc" is going to keep Banzlist going and keep it improving... so there are two resources and one that is VERY active.... MUST GET BACK TO WORK....
  21. Today our group went on a roadtrip through chernarus looking for good stuff and blablabla, the usual. Nothing worthy to tell happened, but the deal is, when we went back to our camp (8 tents, full all of them, with GREAT stuff - as50 , SD weapons, etc - Our Ural Civilian Truck was destroyed. Completely destroyed, exploded. Nothing was missing, nothing, not a single item. Also the rest of the vehicles were ok. All the changes since we left was the exploded truck. WTF?? I mean, if someone found the camp they would have made a party in there with beer and bitches due to his luck, and leave the place completely wasted but no, they just destroy the truck an leave? cmo'n! I dont buy that. I think the vehicle exploded espontaneously. So the question is, how is that posible? Some info: - The truck hasnt been used in 48 - 72 hours (However, I though it takes a week to respawn from disuse, and I though it would disappear, not explode) SideNote: There's a story with this truck. 3 days ago we got raided by a SUV group with 4 full geared guys in there, they started unloading his weapons on us and our truck while we tried to run, the truck exploded and at the same very second the server crashed. When the server went online again we entered and the truck was still there NOT exploded, but fully wasted, needing a full repair of all his parts. Is it possible the truck exploded with a 3-day-delay?? (btw, the SUV wasnt there or near around anyway, which is also strange). I though of hackers also but I don't know... and the admin says can't find nothing out of the way in logs,

    EASY MODE!

Just look how many servers are out there with 5000 vehicles, custom spawn gear etc. While this is partly brought on by scripters frustrating other players by destroying their vehicles and robbing their gear, it is a trend of this generation of games to be easy. Working hard with blood and sweat for your gear creates a fan base of people who are skilled. However, the initial phase of learning is really hard, hard enough to deter this fast food generation of players to skip the queue and go straight for the fucking happy meal. Which would be the servers where most shit is just given to them.
