Demystification of the DayZ loot spawn system [SPOILER]

Vehicles spawn when the server is started. How many vehicles or in which condition they spawn is kinda random as far as i know. If the server is connected to the main hive you don't have any control over that. Private hives have unique spawn mechanics for vehicles and often have 50+ vehicles spawned. It's been a long time since i have answered here. I was kinda inactive for a few months because hackers ruined my fun :( As i've seen there are community updates now and they are working on changing the zed and loot spawn system. As soon as these community builds go live i will analyse them as best as i can and update this thread here :) //edit Roughly 18k views on this thread, wow! It's gonna be a massacre after a server restart. You could earn a helicopter, some vehicles and get completely geared out by just having a sniper rifle, because I'm pretty sure all the UBER CLANZ would be racing on who hoards most of the heli loot. There would be nothing left for new players. -

(cant gain hero suit unless you all ready have it) blood: reduced 20% blood bags: give 30% players that use blood blag -10% medical supplies spawn: -50% weapon spawn: -30% automatic weapon spawn: disabled (you can still use any gun if you had it all ready) scoped guns spawn: -50% ammo spawn: -60% food/drink spawn: -20% tents/backpacks/cades spawn: -40% vehicles: only 3 vehicles spawn. jerrycans/vehicle parts spawn: -40% animals: -75% gps: disabled hatchet damage: -50% (and can break after 50 uses on trees or attacking) zombie death: head shots only/or 50% more health (can still shoot them in leg to make them crawl) zombie damage: +100% zombies can spawn in open fields near citys. this mode takes true stealth survivors. or you can switch modes to run through it all just so all your 2 hour gathering hard earned stuff gets taking by someone else.

Havent played this game for 4 months. Played earlier today with all my old gear. Found a jeep with a IR-MARK STROBE or something that I picked up because I thought it maybe was a new thing in the game. After that I found alot of vehicles I did not recognize and thought this must be hacked stuff and I dropped the IR-MARKER after I searched for it on the forum and here was nothing about it. Now I joined a server that said somehting DAYZAustria(KLL) 200vechicle+survivor startinggear or something. Now I started fresh on the beach day 0 with no gear. Immidietly I dosconnected and tried another server but still day 0 and all my stuff is gone.... Why did my stuff dissapear? Because I picked up a potential hacked item or was it that server named 200vehicle+survivor startergear that did something to me? Thought this buggy shit with stuff dissapereng would have been corrected now after such a long time...

I read the title and got a little excited, but from what I can see, it's just the regular dayz with more vehicles. I long for a server where ammo is rarer than weapons, where soda and food are almost impossible to find, therefore a water bottle and knife are the most valuable things in the game. Imagine, you may have the best gun in the game, but if you've only got 2 bullets, are you really gonna waste them on some random Bambi? -
New Lingor Server! 100+ Vehicles! Bambi Friendly!

This is a very new DayZ server, the map of Lingor Island is a great tropical island with tonnes of places to setup base, cities filled with loot and easy to get around! This is a great map for "bambies" to get used to the game! As admin will answer all questions and may come to your aid if you need assistance! We have active admins who will NOT abuse their powers! It is hosted in Chicago and has 50 slots (If you live in Australia or New Zealand, dont worry thats were the admins are from and you will have none or very little lag!). Side Channel is enabled so you can type to other survivors and meet new people and make new clan/teammates. We encourage PVP but we are against the slaughtering of innocent "bambies". We also have 60+ vehicles so there is no shortage! Also we are trying to keep it as hack free as possible! I also am going to setup a support email so if anything goes wrong, reporting players/hackers or you just need help in general with DayZ the admins will be happy to assist! I didn't vote (I assume this poll is for players on the Balota Buddies server). Just to say though... The server I play on uses it just now. It works really well so far, especially since there are only ever between 5-25 players on. It's not realistic by any means, but it does give potentially more 'hot spots' for PvP (if you don't have 15+ players on Chenarus, player encounters can be too rare for most people's taste). To a certain extent it actually prevents people with vehicles/choppers from madly rushing around raping crash-sites, as they need to be far more cautious and ensure the area is cleared of other players before approaching (especially now that you also spawn zombies in a vehicle from 300m). Bear in mind how the crash-site spawns work in the latest versions. Instead of all spawning in at once on server reboot, one spawns in randomly every thirty minutes to an hour. You hear a loud crash/boom for a few kilometres around the new site. A few minutes later it is automatically marked on the map (if you have one in your inventory). However, players who are not on the server when the crash-site spawns cannot see the marker when they subsequently log-in. Further, only the latest crash-site is ever marked on the map. It's not like you can see all of them all of the time. So if you join the server five hours after a reboot, there are potentially six or seven crash sites for which you don't know the location (I don't know if the number of sites is capped - it doesn't seem to be). The server I play on restarts every 8 hours and I still come across older crash-sites that no-one visited and that I didn't know about. I've also yet to be sniped at a crash site. In my opinion, you should run it for a few days (with a server message explaining it's just temporary) and then have your poll, to avoid any knee-jerk reactions. -

In my oppinion They should Not make more maps, but rather make The existing Map bigger (4 Times it size??) Maybe a Capitol to The West (with a Ton of buildings), colder regions to The North with Mountains an such (pretty much like namalsk), some islands and ships in the south and so on. I think Chernarus is to small for dayz The Map should be so Big, that you Need a helo or at least a Car if you are Not Planning on walking 3 hours (It would give vehicles a more vital role) And if it is True and they are Planning on increasing The Player count on One Map They should Even more do so, otherwise it will be 200 Player Elektro deathmatch -
No vehicles spawning on new server.

Been about a week, still no natural vehicles spawning. Any estimates on when InstanceID's above 20,000 are likely to be fixed. -
Well, after a few days of hard work from my group of 8, we acquired 5 tents full of supplies including over 30 weapons and also found and Offroad Military Truck, S1203, a motorcycle and a Mi-17 helicopter. Our base was located very far north so it should be very difficult to find. However, while one of the guys was at base, the hacker tele'd to him. Our guy shot the hacker multiple times with a Remington so he should have been dead. The hacker just laughed and killed him. He also spammed "Admins are pussys" on everybody's screen. We left the server and came back later to find all of our vehicles gone, all of our tents gone, and all of the trees around us gone. So we got screwed and we only have what we disconnected with (except that one guy, he died). Last time we play on a server without real dedicated admins.

Hey all! Me and my friends want to open a server. Before we do it, I just wanted to know what abilitys the server owner has and what abilitys the admins have. Because we have some admin friends, we know that you can place spawn points for vehicles. But what about buildings? Because I've been in servers with extra barracks, but I never know if its stock like that or the owner/admin changes it. What other stuff can admins and owners do? Thanks! Happy new ywar

Currently our server is limited to 40 players, but based on results we do have plans to increase the maximum population in the future. Invitations will be sent via Forum private messages. rMod - Our server now uses rMod. This mod will open up our doors a lot wider for more character models, vehicles, and weapons that DayZ restricts. This mod will allow us to do a lot more in the game, providing an even better experience for our players. This being a private server is not illegal in anyway, nor is it a drastic change. NOTICE: All players may be required to also download this mod to access the server, it is a simple, fast, and easy process. -Server location: Kansas -Server Time: GMT -5 Chernarus The world was far from her peace time, though the nations of the Earth held no quarrel with another that would spark conflict, many small bands in many countries still interrupted the calm as they always have. During this short time of respite The Russian Federation's military had witnessed several engagements with local terrorist, cleaning them up well until they saw refuge near the Tunguska Crater. Upon engaging them at their camps they noticed the hostiles seemed to be suffering from a strange disease causing their flesh to rot, and adrenaline to activate without reason. They were described as mindless, savage, and insane. Soon the Russian soldiers began to experience the same symptoms, feeling ill, and woozy. The sick soldiers were sent to hospitals to be cured, however, all attempts failed. The same savage nature the terrorist had began to engulf the soldiers, clawing, and biting those who watched over them in various hospitals over the country. To each bit, or even scratched by these infected would join in the insanity, the numbers of deaths, and infected spread rapidly all over the country like a virus. The Russian Federation fell into a state of emergency, calling upon her allies for help. Militaries from around the world gave their aid, fighting these infected people, and aiding the clean population. The wounded, and sick soldiers were returned to their homes, now the world faces the same fate, governments collapse, people starve, safety left in the hands of each individual. The United States, and British Armed Forces assisted with the evacuation of Russia's eastern border, what forces remained were given orders for a rapid retreat, leaving many behind including a small group of the 3rd Infantry Regiment, who now spend their time doing what they can to help those left behind. What we offer -Loot drops for the most part remained unchanged from default settings, never running too short, and never over equipped. -150 usable vehicles to find, and repair. -Play how you wish. Sprinting can be used by double tapping your "W" key, great for getting away from hordes of zombies, bandits, or chasing someone down. Running, sprinting, and rolling use up a lot of energy, causing you to have poor aim, become thristy, and hungry even faster. Remember food, water, and ammo is scarce. Recommended that players either hold down their "Left Shift" key to remain walking, or double tap it to reverse it to be held for running. RULES No hackers. No griefers. No trolling. No pointless running around and killing new players. Please refrain from Sidechat voice usage. All broken rules will result in perma bans with limited warning based on insult. -
This in ARMA would add so much depth and realism! You could then add an entire new class of vehicles which would be mobile revovery/repair teams that would drive in and use a tow cable to pull out the stuck truck then would repair it on the side of the road so it could rejoin the convoy! Sadly, this looks like it is pretty advanced stuff and might be a few years off yet to be implemented into a game like ARMA.

Some of the newer maps (AKA not Chernarus, Lingor or Namalsk) I find are allot more vehicle friendly with freeways and allot of large, paved roads. Most servers I have been on usually have a drastically increased number of vehicles so staking out at a choke point (like the bridge on Taviana) a vehicle will eventually approach wanting to get through this choke point. It may take anywhere from 2 mins to upwards of an hour, but it can be done and I have done it to great effect. Another good way of getting vehicles or just stopping people to rob them (vehicle or not) is to use a baiting technique. Sometimes a broken down old gaz with a missing wheel conveniently placed in the middle of the road is just too tempting for other vehicle owning survivors and they stop, get out and walk over to the gaz to check the inventory. Or if you have no vehicle to bait with you can use dead bodies, map markers, flares or even just a very visible and bright pile of loots (has to be bright and obvious as to be easily seen by a passing car or survivor). Once target has taken the bait, use your tiger ninja powers and shoot his leggies out. Yay! You get a car and a whole bunch of "please don't kill me" whines.

Hi, I was recently banned for no reason on a amazing server, it was a Veteran server with 3rd person, no nameplates displayed, player location on map (spawned with map), cross-hairs, and death messages could someone point me in the right direction please! the server i got banned on was called: Neuse's Server - Starter Gear - 300+ Vehicles (1.7.4.4/100296) Bandit Country | DayZ.ST (It had around 40-50 players daily until an admin banned everyone because hackers gave them illegal items in the inventory and no one could stop them, so eveyone got banned from the Anti-Cheat because of a hacker.) I am looking for a server like the one I described thanks!!!!!!!

Sounds great! Welcome to game! The game is the most fun when you just start and have no idea what's going on. :D Let us know if you and your friends have any issues installing and getting up and running. In regards to public vs private hives, I played for months and months on the normal public hive servers. I've since switched to a private hive (Balota Buddies, coincidentally), and have yet to see any type of hacking going on there. There are pluses and minuses to each kind. Public hive servers allow you to jump around to different servers if you want to be on at a specific time of day (ingame), and your gear will carry over. Private hives are singular in that if you chose to go between a couple of different ones, your gear is individually saved to each server. When you join a new Private hive, you start the game with just the beginig gear (which may be different depending on how the private hive admins have set things up). Private hives might change the loot tables (what goodies spawn where) and add extra buildings or vehicles which you may or may not want. As stated above, the chance of running into hackers on private hives is greatly reduced, especially to ones that whitelist your GUID (game id code) prior to letting you on. Also, we give out beans as a form of forum reputation, so if you dig someone's post, or they've been helpful, click the "You have my beans!" button on the lower right hand side of their post. I think you guys will find this game alot different than The WarZ. :thumbsup:

Basically, this is my opinion on how maps and GPSes should function in DayZ. After reading the 1.7.4.5 changelog and learning that helicopter crashes are going to marked on the map, I became rather concerned, as this upcoming feature (if I'm understanding it correctly) will be completely unrealistic. Normally I don't mind a lack of realism in games, but I like DayZ because of its firm commitment to realism. Firstly, if this suggestion were to be taken, I would want maps to become much more common and for GPSes to be added to the civilian-level loot list, albeit still fairly rare. GPSes could also be made a bit more common in military loot. I believe that maps should only include things that it is logical for maps to include. This means that it only includes static, non-moving things such as towns, military bases, natural features, and the like. It should not include players (including the owner of the map), zombies, helicopter crashes, other vehicles, or map markers made by other players. It simply is not realistic for a map, especially a map almost definitely created pre-zombie-apocalypse, to have these things not only marked, but have the markers magically move. GPSes should be changed to essentially be upgraded maps rather than a map add-on. They could have some features that would be silly to be included on a standard paper map. The GPS could include the owner of the GPS, map markers made by other people (although, perhaps the manual placement of a "GPS beacon" item or something would be required), and possibly even helicopter crash sites. Any and all feedback/constructive critizism is welcome. Sorry if I rambled a bit or was unclear, I am quite tired.

If they're putting crash sites on the map, they're gonna clusterfuck the game ever worse. Right now, it's like this: by yourself? DON'T GO TO NWAF! PERIOD. When was the last time you went into the barracks alone? I don't. They're a deathtrap. So you go and hunt for a heli crash site to get a decent weapon that will work against the magic OHK sniper rifles. But if heli crash sites are marked, the little guy is just gonna get shit on. Why? Because the only people who have ANY chance of getting to a crash site first are the ones with vehicles and/or helicopters. It'll be a massive clusterfuck of a clan a server, going to every single crash site the moment it spawns, and getting all the loot from them while murdering anyone that gets close. Vehicles already give them a massive advantage in finding crash sites. Having them marked on the maps is just going to make clans with vehicles have access to as many AS50's, FAL's, NVG's, Ghillie suits, and ammunition as they could possibly want. And fuck, it's not much of a thing right now, what with the rampant duping. But for the standalone? This will pretty much break the game a bad as duping does.
