It's a great server for learning the game. You can get used the the guns and vehicles found in DayZ much more quickly, as you aren't getting killed. It's much easier to learn how to headshot, when every shot doesnt attract any player within a km. You learn can how to navigate the night, and how to avoid zombies. It's also a nice place to go to relax, if the normal pvp servers are getting a bit bothersome. Also, there are admins on literally all the time. Even at 4am, there are still a couple on.

I'll take the same example : how much thrilling would it be if instead of just finding a book and magically having a +1 at repairing, you would have to learn some basic mechanics stuff from real life, that would be needed to repair the car? You could follow a wiki online (which would be slow) or if you want to get it done faster, memorize each step and train yourself, and after a while repairing cars and different vehicles you will not need the wiki anymore, and be so much faster and efficient than you were back at first try! What I think of is pretty similar to Take on helicopters where if you don't learn the start process by clicking the right thing at the right time your chopper won't start properly. I think a skill feature is not good for DayZ, because it just doesn't fit with the authenticity, the simulation parts of the original design. -

I have created scenes with the vehicles as though people were trying to get out of Chernarus and away to safety abandoning their vehicles. there are 200+ cars and around 10 heli's mostly little birds. Currently its daylight but once we have more players online it will cycle day/night. Small load out also. Only online for a day so there's plenty of cars on the coast. I stumbled upon this gem while searching for a good server and i think it is ashame that more people don't play on it. And i can honestly say that If you are looking for a fun server to play on or if you know of anyone who is looking for one then this is deffinetly the place. This server is for everybody, new or expeirienced players. Are people playing DayZ like CoD/BF because..

The reason people play dayz like a death match is because there is not enough content to realisticly play it any other way. Theoretically Dayz could develop incredibly intelligent AI, and flood the game with mechanics like getting sick to hinder that style of game play and promote a more collectively friendly atmosphere between strangers. But. That isn't what people play Dayz for in general. Most people fall in love with Dayz for it's introduction of open and vast world player vs player. I don't see anything wrong with that, and I think this should be harnessed as much as possible and incorporated into the long term development. Dayz is like BF 3, but bigger, with no structure, and incentive to not die. That is AMAZING. However, I do see your concern. I see how 95% of private hives are influencing the Dayz population in a manner which promotes more expendable gameplay where killing people becomes the only objective. I think the battles should have meaning behind them. For example, over resources. When you add in to much extra vehicles, hospitals, military grade loot, and stores the gameplay becomes expendable. No one is afraid of dieing, and the gun fights become just killing people for the sake of killing people. This is where I think Dayz could take a page out of the guidwars2 playbook. Specifically dynamic events. It's not enough to just make zombies more efficient at chasing you, or disabling you, or harder hitting. There needs to be a reason behind interacting with zombies, if you have any hope of players whom don't know each other working together. What if the zombie Apocalypse had friendly AI? Like a retired General that knows the location of a weapons stash. Imagine a server wide announcement that the General is offering rewards for anyone who will help escort him to this weapons stash. The location where the general spawns would be completely random, his pathing to the stash would be random, and the location of the stash would be random. Along the way of the escort Zombies from areas relevant to the path of the general to the stash would starting leaving their posts and migrating to areas where they might intercept the general. Upon successfully reaching the stash, a crate could spawn which showed items specific for individual players who looted it with a % chance to give various loot. Maybe you need someone there with X lockpicking skill to open it. Now, this creates a much more rich atmosphere. You aren't just creating additional pve content. There will be bandits along the way to also hinder your mission. It sort of a mix of GW2 and Wasteland, with a zombie Apocalypse flavor. This is just one tiny little example of the possibilities the dev team have available to them for long term development. I really think dynamic events would add the content to this game which it needs. This type of thing adds so much more to the long term viability of the game then focusing on things such as just simply making it easier for a zombie to kill you, or sickness, or broken legs. Instead of focusing on making the game frustrating, how about we focus more on making it fun. I also think that there needs to be skills implemented on characters. When a character dies their skill levels get reduced by a certain %. This is probably the most effective way to insure the game is about surviving, not careless expendable death-matching. Sort of like the BF3 unlock system, but of course developed in a way specifically for the purpose of Dayz from the ground up. -
I apologize if this request may seem to picky, but unfortunately I'm having trouble finding a decent, suitable Panthera server. At the moment, it appears the server cache has filled up with absolutely crappy servers, full of people who think having everything on spawn and vehicles within 12 feet of eachother is fun. In fact, this is so far from what DayZ truly is I don't even think they should be listed! So, where is a server I can find that has less than 100 vehicles, no extra weapons, just DayZ weapons, and a decent spawn loadout that is not at all different, or very small in variation, to the regular spawn gear? Looking in DayZ commander, I don't even think a server like this exists. Absoulutely ridiculous. Shame on you community, SHAME ON YOU! I want to play DayZ, not Zombie DayCare where you can have any toy you want without working for it. I found ONE server, but it appears to be down. I want to play. I have a problem. Anyone have fixes?

So, in DayZ there seems to be a food chain, all determined by the experience and loot that you have, but there should be ways that can sort of even the playing field. Military. This would be map and server dependent. Main Idea: There could be a somewhat constant military convoy (HMMWV (w/o guns), Camo Ural) that drives on the main highways (outskirts of the map), and occasionally to the airfields. 1. They would be hostile to bandits, friendly to normal survivors (but a bit edgy if you have a gun), and very welcoming to heroes. They would communicate though radios (if they exist), and talk to you if you are close enough, telling you to back off, to put your weapon down, or ask if you need anything (food, water, a lift). 2. This would attract a lot of attention for anyone who wants military equipment fast, but it will be a challenge to get. The number of heavily armed, trained men would be very hard to take out, but if you can, you're heavily armed and have some great vehicles to throw around. 3. This would also mean that people would be more cautious in the towns or cities near the coast or near airfields. (Imagine being stuck in a building in Cherno or Electro because the military are right outside.) 4. The Military's mood/"edgyness" would depend on the current events. For example, if they were just shot at, they would be more bound to shoot at you without warning, if they just found survivors, they'd be more bound to welcome you with open arms (unless you're a bandit), or if they are running low on food and water, they won't ask if you need any. 5. The Military's vehicles won't run on unicorn farts, they will eventually run low on gas meaning they will stop to refuel which brings up my next point. 6. Trading with the Military. If you have something they need, they will be open to trade more unique stuff, like binoculars, toolbox, ammo or attachments for a gun, or maybe even a sidearm Now, I know that the game is nearly done, and this is a big thing to add (though it can somewhat already be scripted in), but in my eyes, everywhere I look I see remnants of the military everywhere, but no one to show for it. I know people are going to say that this is "cheap" and "shows no skill" if they get the military equipment, but in reality, it shows more skill than going to a populated area, or being lucky enough to find a helicopter crash. I welcome all feedback and would love to hear from you guys and girls.

How to set server vehicle spawn limit?

Ok, I think it worked, but do you mind giving me some cords to spawn the new vehicles in? I need 1 on the NWA runway for a CJ, and maybe 2 more around the area for 2 choppers, the rest, just be random. I also, still do not understand how to read the Cords from the database and find the vehicle In-game. PS: Didn't mean to double post, my bad. EDIT: No, this did not work and I also got a reply for my ticket, here is the exact answer: "Bliss does not have such a table. Spawned vehicles are inserted into the "Instance_vehicle" table in your database." This still makes no sense because how do I increase the vehicle limit if that just tells me what vehicles are on the server? -

Yesterday I was playing DayZ in this server and went to NW airfield, the only ones online at the moment were Field Commander Delta and Field Medic Angel,so I logged in at my camp,saw that my ATV was taken so go by foot to the airfield,when I got there I saw a Heli and a Plane,when I reached the heli I saw an ATV coming and a UAZ behind it,Field Commander Delta and Field Medic Angel got out of the vehicles and told me to hide my weapon,I agreed and put my weapon in my backpack and told me that the heli was from them,that they lost it and someone put it there(?),they offered me their ATV and a I agreed,so meanwhile I went to check the plane,started the engine and tried to fly it when they started to shoot me,so I stopped and went back to kill them,don't like to be shot(who does? ) so I went back and I killed them both,checked their bodies and hid their bodies,so 5 minutes later Field Medic Angel asked me to not hide his body,too little too late,so he said he was going to enter the admin panel to ban me cause he got mad cause I killed him in a game where everybody kills,steals,destroys camps and ruins cars , so is that fair? that is a bad loser,I warned him not to ban me or kick me cause I was in the air and he was going to loose the heli and he said he could spawn a new one ... that's the spirit , thanks. DayZ Factions:Dayz Zed/Bandit Faction addon (v00)

Hello there server owners i made a addon for my server and i though i might release it in case it helps anyone else. For anyone that has modded their server and added AI, you probably discovered that your AI don't seem to want to kill Zeds that want to kill you. Currently the only solution is to set the Civilian faction to enemy, this has the side effect of locking you out of the corpses and/or other containers. This addon changes the side relations for zeds and bandits so that the side attached to the unit is correct to "Resistance" all zombies and "OppFor" for the two bandit units. This will allow any AI added to the game to identify the unit with the correct reaction. This is outside of my control as the FSM for zed ai does not look for non player targets perhaps with the next update the group will be seen the same as vehicles and that may or may not change, probably not. At least that is what i have gathered so far, post below if you have any issues however I may not be able to provide any kind of support. So mine will be different, I must look for a table or something similar, anyway, I must go for an hour or so, I will reply when I get back and took a look throughout again. See you later. Also a quick note, my hosts Control Panel allows me to click a button and it will automatically add vehicles to the server(basically adds vehicles to the instance_Vehicles table for me), but because I cannot find the max vehicle limit on my database, I am only getting about 60 vehicles total on my server. -

Good plan, if you can get help, its maybe better, i'm not familiar with your database structure. But still, the 2 tables are found. The "vehicle" table just houses all vehicles that can be spawn, they are all just 1 time in that table, you don't have to change anything exept the "limit_Max", but here comes the trick, for insance if you have "limit_max" for a "UH1 helicopter" at 5, then the table called "instance_vehicle" needs to have 5 entries for a "UH1", they all have to have a different "world coordenates". Lets find the script that does the spawning now, just have a good look trueout the database and see if you can find anything like this: It will NOT be the same, but maybe you can find something like it . PS: Is this an "official Hive" server ? What are those V_* files ? -

Thanks for the praise Anon, and for the suggestions. Several of those are changes I've been intending to implement in the near future, and now that I'm done with exam week, I should have the time to do so. High end guns on both the civilian and military scales are planned to be less common, so we won't be seeing as many 1866s and DMRs in the average survivor's hands. I'm still unsure how to handle the lower end weapons, the pistols and double barrels for example. I'd definitely be making the suppressed variants less common, as well as the G17 and M9. While it may have been a typo I made during initial setup, I've looked at the database and there only seem to be about 50-55 vehicles appropriated by 3TOG. Regarding adding more vehicles, I wasn't planning on putting a large number of MTVRs or anything like that, just more beaten up sedans, more bicycles. Food and soda we intend to make less common too, it seems like one can just traipse through a supermarket and come out with enough food for a few days. In reality, those would've been some of the first buildings cleaned out, so we'll be making the hunting knife and water bottle a bit more common. Pity there aren't normal plastic waterbottle models that I know of, only the canteens. Starting loadout may also be changed, to something a bit less generous. We've been leaning towards keeping 3rd person, and AIrborne made the exact argument you did. With the binocular vision you get in first person (While you can change the FOV, it leads to some pretty bad fish eye effect at high numbers) it's usually hard to evaluate whether you're in cover or not, and 3rd person is a way to compensate for the lack of tactile feedback and proprioception. Thanks again, and we're glad you like it already! ETA: AS50s and thermal sights will be soon gone, and M107s will be MUCH more rare than they are now, as well as their ammo. Doesn't much matter if you have one of the best weapons in the game if you only have one round. -

I like the idea because it forces the player to be responsible and tactile on their decisions. If you want to be "that guy" pretending to be a wounded hero looking for some morphine then sooner or later someone is going to recognize your game is call you on it, then you either have to change your game or hope nobody calls you out in servers for it. On the other hand if your the kind of player that picks people up in vehicles or saves them from bandits your name will be remembered and (if consistent in your actions) you will become vouched on by other people on the server, or even recognized yourself. I actually hope rocket does this! BEANS!
