I don't think ya'll get what I was saying but this post is old and idc anymore. But ya'll act like I want M119 with Arty computers, M1 Abrams and F35 jets in the game, and M134s... witch is silly. But people are going to try to find a tactical advantage over other people in anygame that has PvP. in a game where authenticity is key... I don't see the harm in adding low grade vehicles and weapons that could change the course of a battle. Just because zombies are in the game doesn't mean Dshka or M2 are not real. -

We don't need armor vehicles and warplanes. DayZ is not ArmA 2. Yak-7b's can go way faster that 370 mph. There are yak pilots that shot down Me-262s. -

Actually everything you just mentioned is all very real and possible. Rappelling down the side of a building, and you can take that rope on the helecopter to the point where about 8 total people can attach and be extracted and be hanging under the helicopter as it flies. It's a pretty sweet extraction technique. Also shooti g out vehicles haha But what I want to be unrealistic...? I can't really think of anything. If they make the weight carrying system and stamina system realistic in tandem with food and drink it would add a whole lot off planning. Instead of just running everywhere, you would have to plan routes and stuff and it would gwtting where you want that much more awesome. And if you wanted to go somewhere fast you rake an extremely light load with little food or water. It would be very interesting! -

It's a sandbox game, you make your own objectives. I generally try to get the essentials to survive to begin with and then work on finding/repairing/keeping vehicles. Saving newbies on the coast from griefers can be fun too. -
Just cruising around with my friend in a white GAZ when I notice zombies were trailing out of town in a line which usually means a vehicle has very recently passed by. With my foot on the gas and with one of the fastest and quietest vehicle in the game we charge after them. We catch them, a convoy of two vehicles at a T junction most likely checking their map. They didnt hear us coming, my buddy jumps out and takes out a tire of the car in front and I launch a M203 HE from my M4A1 Holo at the car in the back. The driver in the first car goes down with a M24 round between the eyes and another car lurking behind a bush high tails it. I double tap the two occupants of the burning wreck and we give chase. We dont get far before he turns his green rust bucket around and drives by us towards his dead friends. Buddy jumps out again and puts a bullet in the back of the drivers head before he makes the turn. We then set the remaining car on fire, hide the bodies and take the rust bucket back to base. Another time with 4 friends in the White GAZ and me on a motorbike roll towards stary sobor. They run into a road block where another group of 6 are repairing a vehicle. A gun fight ensures, the group taking cover behind the 3 cars and my friends pull off the road and take cover behind their car. I flank round with my motorbike and rain fiery hell down on them with M203 shells. 1st shot goes wide but second shot is a direct hit on one of their vehicles and take out 2 hostiles and the car as well as taking out a few tires from a close by vehicle. The remaining 4 freak and make a run for it. 1 makes it to the remaining car and other 3 head for the trees. The driver doesnt get far and the then a long drawn out chase after the remaining 3 starts. Got to love explosives.

My best kill(s) was on the 'DoormanIsGod lingor' server. Me and my boys where ambushing ppl at a overpass. We stayed there for over a week total and got food from the ones we killed. There were many groups with and without vehicles that tried to pass but they usually didn't have a very good day. We ended up in pretty intense firefights from time to time. we got fully geared to. When i Finally died to a sniper i had a total of 31 kills without dying and my father ( yes im playing with my father) had 11 kills and my fathers mate had 9 kills and our bambi friend had 4 kills. /MrChrille

What should not be kept realistic: unorthodox tactics. I want the ability to tie rope to the top of a building and climb down the side one balcony at a time (actually, this is very possible and only seems impossible). I want the ability to tie a rope ladder to helicopters, and shoot your normal weapons from all vehicles (heli's included). As far as I'm concerned, the zombies need a major revamp, but that's for another thread. -
Yeah, working on the vehicles. Uploading some new screenshots. I also noticed that the need for new buildings excluding the new town, is not needed due to celle 1.8's addition of buildings.

Yesterday I had vehicles and tents on my server and today none of them are being spawned. I have restarted my server several times now to try and get them back with no luck. Checking the RPT log file, there is no evidence that the tents and vehicles are being streamed in. Are any other public hive servers having this problem? Is it a known hive issue? -
Also the new buildings seem to spawn loot, yet there is a disturbing lack of vehicles for my tastes. (Hate to pile on requests but this is my only dislike about the current state of the server)

Server just started yesterday, all fresh spawns are most likely still there for vehicles. It has a day and night cycle, with a active mod (and looking for more if people are interested.) Only one ~ two server restarts every 24 hrs so your game will be minimally affected. None of all that auto refuel and free weapons you have to earn it. I was referring to the hiding body aspect. I generally don't destroy (situational) camps because i'll write down the location and use it as a supply depot later on. Besides, camps are generally out in the tree's, forests, hills. Bodies are generally in a town/city where it is easier to stumble across. Plus bodies are a lot easier to hide/destroy than camps are. Saturday on Lingor Island I came across a giant base in a military hanger with about 15 vehicles. They had a sniper on look out pegging anyone that got close. I spotted it from about 700m out before the sniper spotted me. Luckily he wasn't a great shot and he missed me, so I was able to escape. I couldn't get close to it at that point as they had more people around that kept running me off. After a while I had to log out. But when I logged back in the next day I was hell bent on trying to destroy all their vehicles. It was going to be fun! Sadly though, they had moved their base sometime during the night and they were no where to be found. -

Those are not bandits, those a players confusing DayZ with a big fragfest. I only read enemy player, enemies, enemy vehicles...looks like Zeds really are just a side dish. -
Actually, it's an Anti-Materiel-Weapon, designed to be used on vehicles, in contrast to anti-personel-weapons, designed to kill people. But in general it should be categorized with rocket-launchers, rather than sniper-rifles. That you can use these rifles with a backpack, something you can't in arma 2, makes them even more interesting for players to use. Imagine if you couldn't use a backpack using Anti-Materiel-Weapons or LMGs, like you can't in arma. I don't think they would stay as popular. Especially if you reduced the spawnrates for their ammo to something more realistic. Having 10 bullets for AS50 on a server makes it difficult to go on daily kill-sprees with it, but still make it a vital tool to get down enemy helicopters or to stop an URAL approaching your base.

I think a bandit stands for everything he does. Switching servers, changing names to avoid people knowing you are a bandit. Begging for weapons and cars, just to betray the people. Those are no treats of a bandit. A bandit has to honor the game. When he robs people, he lets them know he robs them. People who just want to piss others off are trolls and people who kill not to be killed themselves are cowards. The bandit doesn't shoot out of fear to be killed himself. The bandit does not fear being killed. The bandit thinks about creative and funny ways to rob and kill people. But he always trusts, that he is better than the others. So good in fact, that he doesn't need to cheat, to prove that he's better than everyone else. Depends on the camp. I looted some guys camp for more than a week once, before I cleaned out everything and changed the parking-spot of all their vehicles. Was a nice camp I made myself using their stuff... If it is some noobs camp in the forest, 1 tent, some basic gear in it.. why destroy it? maybe he thinks you won't come back and continues to put stuff in. But If it's the base of a very aggressive clan, you should look in the surrounding area if they have any extended camps as a backup. You wouldn't want to have them be able to use their backup-gear, would you :-D I also destroy camps if they have an unfair amount of cars there. I hate it when clans horde the cars in their camp and no one else can find one. But nothing the team of DayZ Horders can't fix. -

I play daily. Hero, survivial style. Loving new patch and run around with xbow, chest vest and repairing vehicles. Looking for relax, active, mature players to group with. I'm on east coast time.

Well, technically you didn't address the last one, which, in my opinion is the most important one. Old players have no advantage over new spawns that happen to get lucky with loot. How is THIS realistic? Relying on the randomness of loot to determine who has an advantage in a firefight?? BUT an old player that has done nothing should not have as much of advantage as a semi-new player that goes on all sorts of foraging expeditions or has killed a bunch of zombies. I have played the game as is, and it is far to easy to loot farm, kill players rinse and repeat. Within a few hours of being on a server, my friends and I are at 'end game' meaning we have vehicles, tents, and more weapons than we could need. And guess what. We don't have to kill any zombies. BUT WE WANT TO. My God do we want to. But why should we? why should we shoot a zombie, waste ammo and alert people and the horde. Simply, there is no reason to. Arguing that this is not an issue is pointless. Frankly it detracts from the game. What are the point of the zombies anyway? It needs to be addressed and killing zombies needs to be a risk vs reward scenario. You want it to be about the player, but This is after all, a game. A game where you are playing as a character and, due to the nature, the survival of your character is IMPORTANT. Therefore, your character should be dynamic, changing and getting better. It shouldn't be as easy as 1. Spawn. 2. Acquire top weapon. 3. Acquire vehicle. 4.???
