I would like to see more "signs" of the zombie apocalypse.

- Police cars abandoned in the streets, shotgun spawn inside. Yes! - Other rescue vehicles left at the scene. Yes! - Hospitals overrun, lots of corpses, extra medical tents and so on. There is evidence of this currently, look better at the Cherno East Hospital, they set up medical tents accross the street next to a factory as well as looks like the military tried to protect the hospital itself with barbwire. Berezino's hospital looks the worse off, I'm guessing it was the last stand for Chenarus' Military. - More corpses in cars, apartments etc. Yes - Less clutter in the roads(road blocks), more abandoned vehicles. How would this be a sign of the zombie apoc? People were panicking and try to get somewhere 'safe'. People are shitty drivers under the best conditions, now add OMG ZOMBIES FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK! and there's gonna be a lot more accidents. People would try and hunker down and defend against something, maybe set up roadblocks to keep people infected from going into their village or to try and stop the zombies with the blockades. - Some areas still have power/limited power. Rocket has pretty much said no to this, any power generation would have broken down or 'tripped' to use his words without people to keep it up and running. Even a hydro electric dam needs to be maintained, power surges happen which need to be dealt with and repaired, not to mention shit just breaking down without routine maintenance and the power infrastructural itself going tits up. When we play we are Months to Years after the infection started and we don't fully know what transpired during the outbreak (might have been EMP blast or something, a power surge caused during the outbreak might have destroyed/knocked out the entire grid, ect. - Hoards roaming through the map, players will have to fight or flight. I'm all for this - Some houses should look like someone tried to barricade them. Pretty sure it's gonna happen. - Some signs on houses saying "survivors inside" etc. Like in 28 days/weeks later.' Помогите! Из водки! is more likely, forgive the joke. Seriously though Выжившие внутри! and other signs in Cyrillic. Theres little 'scenes' all around that kinda tell the story while still leaving you wonder 'what the fuck happened?' -
Me and a couple of friends have set up a server, we are currently 3 different teams playing on the server, but looking to expand! 45 + vehicles, restart every 8 hours. server located in Holland but all current players are swedish, play as friendly, or as bandit, steal, kill, help, but DONT cheat. Help with RMOD on Taviana - Vhicles? Restrictions?

We've decided to try out RMOD on our Taviana 2.0 server. I've not found a list of vhicles I'm able to spawn from ArmA2, I've only been able able to test out by trial and error. I'm building a list, but am I missing anything? Is there a RMOD vehicle, skin, weapons list? Also, does anyone know how to eliminate the script restriction kicks for #87, #20 and I think the other is #17. These occur when firing certain missles or bombs from aircraft or vehicles, that many of you Rmodders may have xperienced. Can these be fixed like the script Restriction #85? Thanks. -

hi im playing on a server on the map celle, and im looking for buddies to join me on this map. theres lots of loot and lots of different weapons, and its a big map and plenty of locations to stash loot but just need sum buudies to hook up with if any 1 is interested in playing on this server: 176.9.18.40 2682 DayZ celle server usally about 15 people on but groups of 3 of 4 and the usall survivors. so yeah add me on steam CAUSE4CONCERN00 or on skype CAUSE4CONCERN100 if you do join the server my ingame name is DAZ. my objective is to get a few good buddies to hook up with and try and establish a base camp and vehicles. hope to hear from you soon! -
Progression System in DayZ Standalone

That's actually quite valid point. I already started over new character couple times because I basically finished the game. (gear and vehicles..all that crap) My problem though was that I wasn't the first in all the last stand PvP and I've tried to avoid any / most firefights. I have nothing against the PvP thingy in the mod, I even welcome it but I feel there needs to be more to do, more to explore and try than gear up and be pretty much done for. -
I've read most recent threads and realized that there are some issues constantly emerging with some ideas. No matter if vehicles, tents or (eventually implemented) team bases, or team effort ideas (e.g. fixing up and maintaning a power plant), they all share at least at some point one problem: What happens if you and/or everyone else of your team logs off from the game? Simple as it is now: abandonment. But is this still a valid and proper mechanism, is this as good as it gets? Just some basically developed ideas from myself: vehicles, tentsas they are objects, it would be easy to attach some info to these. such as last operator/owner, time owned by this owner etc... Based on these information, these objects could simply log off along with your character as long as you're in a reasonable vicinity to them. Problem: Is this immersive at all?! team bases (hypothetical)A group could run a "base"-structure. Let's just assume again there is some mechanism that binds the "base" itself to a person. The main idea here could be that every person (no matter if it is a clan/team/group or not) becomes an owner-"candidate" as long as he is in or again in a reasonable vicinity to that base. The moment he is too far away he loses this candidate status. Now after "X" hours of being candidate you change from candidate to owner. Which means the base-structure lists you as its owner in its properties. Issue: So you have to stay in that base for "X" hours?? We are a group of 6 ppl, it doesn't make any sense that all of us must stay there that amount of time! Another idea could be to implement "quantities" which incorporate the "candidate"-idea. Let's say all candidates that stay "Y" min. together in that base-area would be identified as one quantity. So as long as >= 0% of that quantity stays in the base the "ownership"-timer still will run down. (the same if the quantity is still one single person) So how to deal with logging off? Of course it is not possible to maintain that ownership by always keeping at least one member of that quantity online. It is impossible. There are now again three possibilites: The base gets abandoned leaving the possibility for everyone to become owner, with the same working mechanism as brought to you before, leaving the owner no chance to defend.The base itself is a new instance (meaning loading screen; but only thinkable for tunnel/cave systems in my opinion).The base can get locked in some way, so no other can take over the baseIssue for the latter: What if the base-owner plays on a very unregular basis, leaving no one a chance to take it over? A "Cool-off" or "Abandonment" timer could be implemented. Let's just say 24/48 hours after the last visit of a member of the quantity the base again is free to take over; meaning the same procedure execution as above mentioned. It could be more/less fair for the opposing forces and for the team that owns the base as well. *EDIT: Of course one idea could be to build bases without the (postulated) idea of a dev-defined and fixed to a point base-area, meaning one can build (with a proper crafting-system) a base wherever and out of whatever one wants. Now go a step further: what if you have some kind of "foundation stone". By placing it you define a new base-area of a radius r = "Z" meter. This gives the chance to build more hidden bases and the chance to define the look of it way more independently. Can be almost ruled out : http://dayzmod.com/f...20#entry1204654 team effort ideas (e.g. maintaining a power plant) (hypothetical)This could work similarly as the example above. Let's just focus on the maintenace-part. Again you must stay at least "X" min/hours at the scene, so the plant/factory/whatever to start working by itself. Again two possible ideas for the autonomous functioning of the plant: You need someone after "Y" hours to come and handle the process so that it won't destabilize/shuts down again (the "LOST"-approach)or the "fuck the majority"-approach by introducing passive NPC's that pretend to oversee the process; no one ever has to come back constantly to "press the button". Who Else Thinks 1.7.5.1 Pushes Annoyance and Survival Too Far?

There is a lot of private hives and mods of dayz that have basebuilding and crafting... best of them even have similar zombies that dayz (meaning: difficult) has + more complex "infection" (different types), roaming hordes in forests, you have dogs as pets, you can build your own motorbike or ATV or a base with LOCKING etc. I really hope dayzmod-team don't make it "easier" at any point, but rather build on this 'foundation' and bring to the "mothermod" some of the great features that the "child-mods" have. Such as: Deadly and dangerous zombies is a great thing! I know even a couple of servers that have these crazy-fast zombies that wield *AXES*. Good luck trying to get them 'deathlined' to a staircase for a choppa-choppa... choppa is coming, but not the way you meant to! Loving some servers that have fiddled with Z-damage; taking four hits = death. Also loving servers that have increased infection chance; 70% risk of infection per hit. Not to mention servers that have modded the zombies hit-effect-directional thingies and have zombies that knock you out if they hit you in your back 100% every hit. Basebuilding is a really really cool thing. To build a base you need a vehicle to harvest the things needed, it really helps to have a friend to build with, so it is not a simple task but can take many dayz and livez and you risk being robbed at every turn. Crafting; there is servers where you can craft simple vehicles from piling up a lot of materials; sweet!! More illnesses! Got the caugh? Find caugh-medicine! Got common flu? Find antibiotics. Got a touch of Z-virus? Get militarygrade antidote! (crashsites) Tired of being hunted by zombies in the cities, wanna take a relaxing brake so you head for the safe-haven of "woods"? HELL NO! Forests are a death-trap for the not-so-carefull roamers with random hordes of zombies running around. Feeling lonely? Want a companion but cannot trust them human bitches? Get a dog-bitch! First you need to find it, then you need a moment for a little soul-bonding and voila; you have a companion to fend against the undead or the nasty 'other-humans'. -

I want to make clear that I have no problem with other players shooting at me, KoS and all that nonsense. If they have me on their sights without me knowing about it, I salute them. They outplayed me The berezino situation was kind of messy from our part. We had an unfortunate accident earlier in a gas station where my friend broke his leg trying to fit thru a door, lost a ton of blood and our last morphine. We had no blood bags nor meat so we headed straight for the hospital. He was all grey screen and below the random feinting blood level, and he was supposed to be my safeguard when I go loot the hospital. When we saw the 3 dudes we knew I can't just walk up to them or else we both die. We tried to scare them off, me being about 200 meters west from their group and my friend was about 350 meters, northwest from them. As long as my friend was concious I knew we had to make something quickly as I weren't able to epi-pen him up if he fainted on duty. I shot two bursts in the general direction of the group an that got them moving. They got scared and all in a tight pack they started running towards my friend with all our food and gps. When they were about 150m away from my injured buddy I told him to just take the shot as we didn't want to engage in a fully-fletched firefight at that point. Their front runner died and the whole group dc'd. I guess it woulda made my case a lot clearer if I had put effort into explaining our motives before. I don't know how long a distance would that direct comm went but we weren't in a position to start a healthy discussion anyways, also we didn't know russian and had no guarantee that they'd speak english as we were on a russian server without side channel at that time North in the ural we knew better than to take our chances when there were two vehicles on top of our lives at stake. At berezino it was our gps, DMR and ghillie at stake. Our playstyle might not be the friendliest but it's risk management that has proven effective, and at that time I expected others to do the same. After the side channel got removed from most servers I feel that the game turned a lot more hostile. When we were all newbs and stuff we asked for directions and stuff from other people near the shoreline when we were starting out. We felt that it wasn't all hostile world but without side channel and getting outplayed by others we changed our approach I do wish that we get to do a lot more cooperation in the SA so see ya there hopefully :)

Seems legit. Find some player's parked vehicle while driving, get towing cable out of trunk, back up to parked car, hook up and tow it away. EDIT: About vehicle hoarders. Vehicles do not have a chance of despawning the way tents do, so some players swear by them. Personally, I keep the things I most cherish on my person because I am the single best defense at my disposal and much easier to hide.

I had been playing Dayz on and off over the course of the day. I play lone wolf style and had left my base camp and was doing a walk about up north, through the hills, looking for camps/vehicles. It had been quite uneventful, as I had not even seen a single animal. The one deer stand I stopped at had an M14 AIM, but I was already carrying a DMR and MP5SD6, so I didn't pick it up. I just took the 2 DMR mags. Towards dusk, I was approaching the fields just SW of Petrovka when I spotted some smoke and a bit of flame. Ok, I thought, helicopter crash site. Not wanting to rush right in, I started to do a circle around the site to check it out. That's when I spotted another trail of smoke about 300m away. A second helicopter in flames! So I began to flank that crash, and within seconds spotted a third plume of smoke. I eventually found there were five helicopters crashed, all within 1km of each other. It was a beautiful sight, watching all of those burning helicopters, as the sun set and they glowed in the dark. Too many riches all at once, as I did not have enough space to get everything that was dropped. I did get some things I needed. Not sure how common this is, but it was certainly an event for me.

Like Kat said, its true, every tent, vehicle and player who had an AS50 on our server the other day got deleted. Two of our guys died and lost all their gear on login and we lost several vehicles and tents. We are not the only ones either, everyone on the was server impacted by this bug who had possession of a AS50. We don't know what caused it and the only reason we know it was AS50's was due to have several tents segregated from those guns and then cross referencing with other clans on the server. Other servers reported similar issues during the last week (Do a forums search on missing items and tents) but didn't have a organized gear setup to help narrow the related item if it is even related or not it happens sadly. When items glitch out its a communication issue between the server database and the hive. The hive has deleted many items in the past by accident (Go do a forum search again), and this game is buggy at times as its still in development and is not a fully completed product. The admins don't need to explain things nor try to look for and troubleshoot bugs on their servers, our server admins do and its sad that we go out of our way to be forward and honest to players on our server like you when something does go wrong and in return you want to see us banned just because you think your the only one who was impacted. As much as we appreciate the invitation for people to come on our server and do what you cannot, is always welcome, but please do more research before crying bad wolf.

I think its hilarious you think admins have the ability to just despawn a certain weapon server wide just to spite you and a few others on the server. The fact of the matter is that 2 of our clan members were also killed on load in who had as50s, and 2 other players on the server along with at least 10+ tents a 2+ vehicles. I guess it was your first as50 or something and are really upset and just ran straight to the forums to cry foul but you can seriously ask anyone else who logged in the last 2 days. You can believe what you want obviously and if you choose not to play on our server anymore that's fine but I assure you we lost more than you did with this bug. -Kat

I agree to this. Maybe have a limited amount of fuel per fuel tank. Have a random amount of fuel spawn in those large gas tanks you find (it could be full or almost empty). Finding a full gas tank would be very, very rare and the longer a server is up the less fuel there will be. Maybe have small jerry cans of fuel spawn every now and then but rarely. Also, different kinds of fuel? Maybe have a few vehicles that run on propane or require diesel or something. Also, add more bikes and maybe some domesticated horses to ride. -
ACE 2 mod style ballistics and terminal ballistics should be patched into to Dayz. Copying the ballistics directly from ACE 2 mod would result in the following day 1. 1. More consistent damage model that actually makes sense. 2. Longer more intense firefights at medium and long range. 3. Realistic sniping and the ability to dope your rifle to within 5 meters of a range using the correct mil adjustment. 4. Wind!!!! wind will play a factor when shooting and thus you must compensate for it. 5. Ability to accurately engage targets are realistic distances. 6. Bi-pod deployment to steady your bipod enabled weapon. Weapons without bipods can still be rested on flat objects or vehicles.
