  1. I am running a DayZ private server through HFB. When I searched through my database via phpmyadmin, I found the expected possible vehicle spawn points for instances: Chernarus, Namalsk, Lingor, Takistan and Panthera. However, HFB provides map packs for pretty much every other DayZ map out there. So here is my problem: if i would wish to run say a Taviana map for a while, apparently, vehicles would never spawn especially not "natively" according to "official" spawn point locations, because in my world_vehicle database, there aren't any spawn points present for Taviana. What I do not understand is why did HFB even provide the other map packs if they were not going to add vehicle spawn points for them in the database? This is severely annoying, as before I began getting into looking around the database, I had tried to run a Celle map, and waited days for vehicles to spawn never knowing that even despite running the vehicle spawn script a few times, vehicles could never spawn. My question for those in possession of pertinent knowledge is, is there anything I can do about this to enable vehicles to spawn in the "official" locations they should on these maps I've mentioned, or is this just a case of my server provider not doing it's job? I have support tickets in with HFB, but many hours can and usually do pass - or days - before they will answer multiple questions.

An easy way to build bases

i like the general idea. its simple. what i suggest is to not only allow it in certain areas, instead let us decide where we wanna make a base. the most well known example is probably the factory between polana and orlovets. but there are other places already ingame that i thought of "this would be an awesome base" most of the time this thought was killed by the zombies and the inability to really fortify it and having a open/close entrance. so yeah, vehicles to block the door, kill all zombies so they dont respawn. great!
  3. We have added the following:- Hourly backups so we can minamize loss from hackers / scripters. Server reboots every six hours to clean up destroyed vehicles and respawn new ones.

An easy way to build bases

Since many people are day dreaming and posting about base building but mostly do not provide concrete ideas how it really could work ingame I would like to show you a simple way of building bases in 3 easy steps... As joe mcentire suggested somewhere else before, we could use predefined places/structures (new areas placed by the devs for this pupose only) for building camps and bases. Places that are protected by static walls, fences or barricades anyway like prisons, small military camps factories or farms. Of course such structures would need an entrance.that can be closed somehow, I would suggest to use large vehicles or gates that can be pushed to block the entrance ( like the prison fence gates in The Walking Dead). This vehicles could be used for this purpose only of course.. Pushing these vehicles/gates should work only from inside the walls. This way opening or closing the gates of the camp would always require at least one player inside the base.and since blocking the entrance would take a while, other players could could take the chance to attack the gate and get in. Barbwire, sandbags, tank and bear traps could be used to fortify this places even more. Inside this bases players could build their tents, campfires and park their vehicles. Of course structures should provide a water supply but not any loot spawns. Since such bases would use only stuff that is used in the everywhere ingame this would not have any bad impact on the performance !!! Before a group of players could use such a structure as their base they would have to wipe out all the zeds there, which should be a very hard task of course. Only a well armed group should be able to do this. As soon as all zombies in this area are killed the base status turns to safe (simple script ). Zombies will stop spawning and the gate can be closed. From here on nothing fancy is required to run the base. The Players just have to make sure that there is at least always one player inside the camp to open and close the gate. This means also, at least one member of the group has to be able to respawn inside the camp. If no player activity is recognized by the game inside the base for a longer timeframe ( let's say for example 12 hours) zeds would start spawning again and the vehicle/gate blocking the entrance would revert back to its original position (base status not safe) simulating that the base was not guarded for a longer time and overun by zeds again. To make sure that no server hoppers spawn inside the camp a simple game mechanic or script could be added that only allows players to spawn inside the camp that have saved on the same server. 3 easy steps : 1. Create a new small area on the map (lets say a farm for example) including some buildings surrounded by walls and fences flodded by zeds. 2. Make sure this place has only one entrance and somekind of gate (or vehicle) that can be pushed (forwards and backwards) to close and open this entrance. 3. Create a simple script that does something like this : if number of zeds in predefined area > 0 set base status = 0 (not safe) if base status = 0 (not safe) set zed spawn points = activated & gate = deactivated (can not be pushed, reverts to its original position) if number of zeds in predefined area = 0 set base status = 1 (safe) if base status is 1 (safe) set zed spawn points = deactivated & gate = activated (gate can be pushed) if base status = 1 (safe) & number of players in predefined area > 0 set owner status = 1 (guarded) if base status = 1 (safe) & number of players in predefined area = 0 set owner status to 0 (not guarded) if base status = 1 (safe) & owner status = 0 (not guarded) set timer = 0 (game hours) if base status = 1 (safe) & owner status = 0 (not guarded) & timer = 12 (game hours) set base status = 0 (not safe) game checks if player has saved on the same server and inside a safe camp ...if not player is spawned at the coast ( to prevent server hopping) that's it...the basic idea at least.... PS: I never looked into arma scripts so I used something simple ( similar to the scripts used in TES or Fallout) to show what I mean....
  5. One of you server admins, take a look at gbwireworld and take some notes, servers dont need 200+ vehicles, chernarus only needs 40-50 vehicles on the map at all times, you don't need 24/7 daylight, take out the op 50. cal snipers, But for the love of god do one thing they have never done, GET anti-hacks, so when accusations go flying all over the place of "hackers", Good players that are legit wont get banned, and have a good server pulled out from underneath them.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.6.1 Hotfix

Bug with HMMWV having too small an inventory, the ATV has an inventory the size of a UAZ so it seems that these two vehicles might have had their inventory sizes switched around at some point by accident.

    Introductions? Semi New Guy Here

Thanks I wont forget it this time. It is under the same IP as this account, but I will be moving soon, so my IP will change, I dont need to send any special messages or register for a multi IP address do I? And thanks guys. Arma 2 is amazingly fun all on its own. I been playing that to get an idea of what the cities look like without zombies or snipers trying to take me out lol :D Cheers and Thanks. Yeah I love how DayZ has that realism effect. Actually gutting animals for food and what not, finding parts to repair vehicles. THIS is survival. Accept no imitation :P So I have noticed!! DayZ 2017 was a real different treat. I also figured out how to avoid zombies lolol, No more endless running, just need to lose line of sight long enough to duck in bushes. Once my move is complete, I will be a permanent resident of this mod, forum and future SA edition.
  9. Looking for a small group of people the run with. Been playing since August 2012. I've played solo and in small groups before and have had loads of fun being serious, and just goofing around. After playing solo for the last little while, I miss being in a group. I do record a number of my sessions, so hopefully you don't mind that. Desired specifics: People who play 3+ days a week. (Not required, just desired.) Skype or Teamspeak 3 needed. I want communication. (We can decide which one to choose when grouped up.) No experience required, but it would be nice if you had some. No hacking. That stuff ruins my videos and greatly degrades the entertainment value of the game. I'm good to play on any server, but please note that I am in Mountain Standard Time (MST) aka (GMT -7:00) and I work until 5:30pm MST Monday - Friday. I think you will find that I am easy to get along with, so please don't hesitate to join up or have me join up if this criteria fits. Also: I can run with bandits or heros. Can operate heli/jet/plane proficiently. (Not 'Elite pro,' mind you. But I can manage them without damaging vehicles/players while maintaining a decent speed/pace.) Proficient with snipers and rifles as well. Age: 24 If you are interested, send me a message and we can get things sorted out.

Tired of KoS? Do something about it!

The only way to deal with it is to KoS yourself? Here is a grand idea: Don't shoot them, and maybe they won't shoot you. And for the last thing, you are simply complaining about folks who do not shoot players. Why alt+F4 when you could follow them to their camp, steal their supplies, then destroy it? Steal their vehicles? Creep them out? Make their life ruined?
  13. Tired of KoS? Do something about it! Lately there have been many threads and lots of discussion on KoS. It's not getting anywhere, both sides in the argument claim they are right and both sides make up stuff that isn't necessarily true about the other just to "win the argument". The arguments generally boil down to this for the respective sides: Bandits, KoS kiddies and PvP crowd The other side doesn't know how to PvP. It's part of the game, deal with it. Crying about it isn't going to stop it from happening. Go play another game if you don't like it. Friendlies, Heroes, Medics, PvE/PvZ crowd The other side doesn't know how to PvP. They are ruining the game. Go north if you want PvP. Go play CoD/BF3, this is DayZ. I am not taking sides here in this thread. That's the core arguments about KoS from each side. I consider myself to be a Bandit/KoS "kiddie" and PvP person and i have tried to remedy the situation in the past. As much as i enjoy the cries and outrage from those i kill i also consider myself reasonable. I want them to succeed, learn from their mistakes and become better players as much as anyone else. I just don't like the friendly approach. I don't want to cuddle someone and carry them on my back hoping they learn from what i tell them. I want them to learn from experience as that (IMHO) is worth more than a thousand words. Now, to the bread and butter of this post/thread. Survivor: "I don't like KoS and i want it to go away!" Fair enough... What have you done about it so far? I haven't seen much done about it really aside from a couple of rage induced posts on these forums. I feel posting about your loss is entirely the wrong way to go as Bandits and KoS players alike (me included) will feed on your complaints, rage and tears. It has the opposite effect because the killers get recognition and a sense of achievement from your posts. I am not saying this is always the case, some may change their minds based on your complaints and think in other ways, doing less KoS as a result. But in total your postings will have the opposite effect. The one thing i haven't seen too much of is ACTION. Words is not the same thing as action mind you... What can i do to reduce KoS??? There are a number of approaches you can take and depending on how YOU want to play not all of these will be applicable to you. But at least one or two should be! What follows is an index of some possible actions you can take, after that i will go in depth on what each item on the list entails. Shoot them yourself. (PvP) Ask someone else to shoot them. (Get an assasin for the "cause") Join a group of players to kill them. (PvP with others) Become a warmonger. (Entice others to go to war against the offenders for the "cause") Fund a war. (Give out weapons, ammo and resources for others to fight a war) Become a warlord. (PvP with a group of players against the offenders but as a leader of a bigger group) Ignore it. (Do nothing at all, avoid it) 1. Shoot them yourself. (PvP) This is (IMHO) the least likely option for many reasons but if you want to retaliate on your own terms i will not deny you that and will encourage you to do so as you will learn a whole lot from the experience. The reason you are less likely to succeed is because it's you against many and you will have a hard time keeping up with them all in terms of weaponry and time. You will become the lone warrior, a guerrilla if you'd like. You will hit them when they least expect it and do as much damage to them as you possibly can. Your biggest obstacle will be that they too are like a guerrilla force. They will move (contrary to popular belief) and will blend in to the environment and you can't at a glance differentiate them from other players. Beyond that, you killing them once will have little impact since they will come back and gear back up rather quickly. They will learn from their mistakes and will have their spirits lifted as they are back in the game. They will enjoy you killing them unless you manage to kill them over and over again. Now, i am not saying it's impossible and there are many things you can do to increase the odds in your favor, should you choose to take this path. Get a good sniper rifle. (AS50 is preferred above all others due to it's low noise level, high accuracy and superior stopping power but any less will still do fine) Find a ghillie suit. (Easier said than done but without one you will be killed easily) Announce your intentions! (WHAT?!? No really, if they feel insecure you have landed the first blow, they will be paranoid all the time and will be scared to move about as freely as they did before) Pay attention to the side chat (should it exist) and gather intel on the bastards. (If someone suffers KoS, ask him for details. Get into a skype convo with the victim if you can. The less they know of what you know, the better!) Once geared up, stay near the coast but let NO ONE know where you are. (Be within walking distance of Cherno/Elektro at all times. The longer it takes you to get to them, the less likely you are to find them.) CAMP ALOT! (Your best bet is to be invisible and lie in wait for them to move about. Find the best vantage points into the twin cities and wait for them to make a move then strike) Once you engage and possibly kill one of them, don't stick around! (The last thing you want to do is let them flank you and kill you.) The one thing no list can help you with though is EXPERIENCE. You will never become good at PvP if you don't actively engage in it. If you don't have a sniper rifle and ghillie yet you are better off fighting in close quarters for a while to learn the ropes. Learn to think like them, learn to play on equal terms with them and your sniping career will be much more rewarding. When you get good at it, the KoS crowd will start to fear you. As a result, their activity will diminish as they now take more precautions before shooting an unarmed player. All of this of course depends entirely on what YOU want to do. Most "anti KoS" players are against PvP alltogether and as a result will not chose this path in the first place. 2. Ask someone else to shoot them. (Get an assasin for the "cause") This is very similar to the first option except you are not the lone warrior. Someone else is! You really don't have to do much at all, if you know something about the offenders then tell the server about it. Or... At this point you have a number of options... Go solo PvP to retaliate. (Section one in the "what to do list") Offer assistance to others wanting to kill them. (Join them on skype and help them with intel, scouting and/or equipment) (3, 4 and 5 on the "todo list") Entice others to join the "cause". (Become a warmonger, item 4 on the "todo list") Do nothing more, just tell the details and move on. The last thing you want to do here is engage in a long conversation with them about how wrong it is to KoS. Just tell the details and ask for assistance or retaliation from others. Be mature about it and others will take you seriously. (assuming they trust your intel) 3. Join a group of players to kill them. (PvP with others) This is obviously based on trust for all involved. Normally you should seek to team up with other "less armed" players and form a counter squad. You will need good communication (Skype, Teamspeak etc) with the others in the group or you are bound to fail before you start. Unlike the solo PvP option, you will focus on sheer force. Grab whatever weapons you can come by and rely on intel from others. Strike the bastards down and split up or stay together. Some things you can do as a group: Have a decoy to lure attention away from the rest of the group. (Make noise to lure the bastards in) Use a target dummy that will be fired upon. (The longer he survives the better, he needs to know how to dodge bullets! The rest of the group will flank or return fire) Use scouts that survey the area and provide intel as well as possible cover fire. (should he have a sniper rifle etc) Cover larger areas in shorter timeframes as well as lock down certain regions. Some things to consider: Bad communications are a recipe for distaster. ("Where are you?" ... "I don't know." ... "Is that you?" ... "I am near a house" ... "But this guy is in a house" ... "Where?" ... "I don't know, i am going to shoot him!" ... "Wait, i am in a house now" ... "What weapon did you have?" ... "Uhh, a rifle..." ... "This guy has an AK, i am shooting now" ... *bang bang* ... "Aaaah, someone is shooting me from the school" ... "I am in the school!" ... "I am shooting back" ... "No, that's me!" ... "But he is shooting me?!?" ... "Ok?" ... "Oh well, i am dead anyways.") Good communications can have great results. ("I am on the school roof" ... "Ok, i am at the hospital" ... ... "I see zombies running to the east" ... "Ok, i will get on the hospital roof" ... "The zombies are running to the store" ... "I am on the hospital roof now, looking at the store entrance" ... "I see a guy in the store, he has a bandit skin" ... "Good, what weapon does he have?" ... "I can't tell, he is running around too much" ... "Ok, keep an eye on him." ... "He exited through the back of the store" ... "I see more zombies running to the west. They are moving towards the school." ... "Ok, the bandit is running into the school now too!" ... "I see another player, he is unarmed in survivor clothes and going into the school!" ... *RATATATA* ... "Shots from the school, sounded like an AK74" ... "Ok, keep watch!" ... "I see the bandit, he is moving to the second floor. The other guy is dead!" ... "Shoot the bandit if you can" ... "Taking the shot." ... *BAM* ... "He is dead! I'll cover you while you take his stuff. Don't forget to bury the bastard!") Always keep track of each other, the moment you don't know where the others are situations can arise where you have to do needless talking to confirm each others locations. Always inform the rest of the group what you are doing and where you are going and do it for every re-positioning you do. Share everything! Got spare food? Divide it among the group induvidials. Having to go back to another player to feed him is only going to increase the chance of you being spotted and will take extra needless time. Have clear roles, "I am the sniper", "I am the looter", "We are the assault team", "I am the coordinator", "I don't know this game that well", "I am hungry", "I am the intelligence officer", "I am the driver". Have clear goals... "We are going to Cherno to look for KoS bastards." ... "When we get there we will take up positions on the roofs while the looters gather food and medical supplies." ... "We will all meet up in the farm north of Cherno if we need to retreat or we are moving out". Nobody is saying playing as a group is easy in PvP. You learn through experience and your targets are likely to have more experience than you. Your ultimate goal is to make life HELL for them. The more they have to worry about you, the less time they will spend shooting unarmed players. Just like with solo PvP, this isn't for everyone. There are other options! 4. Become a warmonger. (Entice others to go to war against the offenders for the "cause") Another one of those "easy approaches" as you don't have to do anything really. Just encourage others to fight the fight for you while you go about doing your own thing. I can't really say much else about it. I have done it myself, AGAINST MYSELF. So here's a little story about what happened: So yes, being the warmonger can be surprisingly effective! And it should be right up you complainers alley! 5. Fund a war. (Give out weapons, ammo and resources for others to fight a war) If you are a lone wolf who does nothing but farm gear every day to store it in tents scattered around the map then this option is perfect for you! What are you going to do with all that gear anyways? It's just sitting in tents waiting for some bandit to come and collect and destroy the rest anyways. Gather weapons, gear and vehicles that you give to others who are fighting the war on KoS for you. Strength in numbers is one thing, being well supplied is a whole other. If you provide your services to the men and women on the ground so they can focus on killing bandits then you are a vital asset to the "cause". If there is one thing a KoS player hates it's snipers. So give out sniper rifles to the good guys and watch the KoS mentality shatter as they will feel they are being watched at all times by the counter KoS, well equipped players everywhere. 6. Become a warlord. (PvP with a group of players against the offenders but as a leader of a bigger group) Dream on... ... ... Seriously though, if you manage to get the server under your control against KoS i am going to join that server right away just for the challenge. A would love for you to succeed and maybe one day someone will. And i would love to be the target on a server like this. Hunted by everyone everywhere. 7. Ignore it. (Do nothing at all, avoid it) By far the laziest approach and the least effective... But for you it may work best, who knows? What you need to do is stay away from all possible player contact. Play on empty servers, stay far into the wilderness. Leave no trace of your existence and keep your mouth shut. If you see another player press ESC -> ALT+F4 and go on another server for the day. Rage quit as you realize you are not having any fun at all. It was bound to happen later anyways as DayZ is not for you. ---------------------------------- Thanks for reading!
  14. Please stop the ninja restarts! Today at 14.35 pm (ish) an admin made a restart, giving a one minute warning in side chat. No red text no nothing. Most of us don't know who all the admins are, and as a result of that around 6-7 vehicles were lost, and some made complaints about tents disappearing aswell. So far i've loved the server, but if there's something that's been bothering me it's these kinds of things. Same goes for admins writing "5 minutes to restart" then restarting after around 2-3 minutes. I don't like complaining but when people waste my time (as in spent getting a vehicle, then losing it) i have to.

    Reset vehicles

Is there a way for me to reset my map so only the default vehicles are on it, without starting a new database?

    Stripping Vehicles

Hey All, I dont know if this has been suggested already, but since I couldn't find it I'm creating this topic. What I would like to see in DayZ (in the mod as well as the SA) is to be able to strip vehicles of their usefull parts. For example: you have 2 cars. Car 1 is without wheels. Car 2 without engine Now what if you are able to strip the wheels of car number 2 and place them on car 1 so you have a useful car? Since I usually find loads of crap cars I would love to see this implemented. Since you might have problems that people strip their own vehicles so they cannot be stolen one should only be able to strip useful parts if at least 1 other part is red or not functioning at all. So if you find a perfect Helicopter you shouldnt be able to remove the Main rotor part. Thanks for your consideration! Azziax

New player looking for a group in EU

Hi mate, you're welcome to check us out @ The BSB Network. (http//:www.bsbnetwork.com). We're an open social community for fair and mature gamers with our own Survival Taviana server that's well suited to newbies who are starting out with lots of emphasis being on PvE (survival) . We have our own Teamspeak server too (easier than Skype). We're UK based and all our members speak English. We've been playing and supporting Day Z since launch and have our own internal clan (split into two factions, BSB Ravens and BSB Scorpions) as well as hosting several smaller groups and clans within our community. Our Taviana server is Whitelisted and protected against hackers and has loads of vehicles (300+) , loads of new buildings and interesting cities and most points of interest are less than 1K between each other. Our server is very much suited to new players and our members are friendly and helpful and are more than willing to have you tag along, as well as giving you tips and help along the way. We run weekly events for our factions and community on the server too. Anyway more details can be found on our recruitment thread; http://dayzmod.com/f...gamers-est2002/ Server details
  18. DayZ Chernarus (1.7.6) Hello fellow Survivors, Bandits and Heros, 116TH are currently looking for 3-6 small to large groups to join our Faction warfare style server,This is a no holds barred fight for survival with one of the groups main objective of being the high power. What incentives are there for joining with your group? ''Well if you and your group join and are accepted you (Faction Leader) will be given a stakehold in the server'' What does that mean? That means that whenever a change may go through it is discussed between all stakeholders, So basically you have your say in how the server is run (i.e, Number of vehicles, What custom buildings etc) What if my group is small? Well we urge you to still come and join in the fun we have plenty of independant small groups and even single lonewolves. Multi-map on one server idea

not really. You just have to define where taviana lies in relation to chernarus. Then you take your boat in chernarus to the edge of the map. The loading-screen simulates the open-ocean-travel, respawning you on the edge of taviana map. You could require f.e. 5 full jerry cans in the boat, that are set to empty on arrival. You'd then need to refuel in taviana to get back. You wouldn't go by boat for days, but it should still make up for an hour of traveltime or more. I'd recommend an airplane :-) not really. Dayz Epoch runs on 4 or 5 different maps at the moment. They can be added to the same hive. So when you change maps, your gear stays the same. Saving the data from one map to another therefor isn't the real issue. Getting the vehicles over would require a link tough, as you could send the description and recreate it there. In standalone, when they are objects, it shouldn't be a problem anymore. At the moment they are strings tough, so it could be more difficult. The actual transfer between the maps wouldn't be more than saving your character with changed location data, leaving the server and logging back into it, on the other map, with the new location. Considering server-load this shouldn't use up more ressources than changing your clothes. One issue would be the vehicle spawn tough. People could abuse that, to get all planes and helis from all maps to their base. To decide how migrated vehicles behave, how long they exist and when or where they respawn isn't something to be ignored.

    SUV spawn?

Assuming the server admin hasn't altered the chance of it spawning, it doesn't always spawn. I edited my database so all vehicles have a 100% chance of spawning on my server.

    KoS, an examination

From my experience (played 5 times a week since the first week this mod was released) there is 4 types of players you'll come across in dayZ. The solo survivor: generally this guy will be friendly, he plays solo and is most likely new to the mod. The solo bandit: this tends to be the guy who sits up on a hill with over watch of an area and shoots anything that moves from little bunny rabbits to unarmed players. The survivor group: they tend to be mostly hostile as they have enough players in their group and plenty of gear, mostly they will try to communicate with you before they rob you of your beans and pride. However some groups can be friendly but just keep an eye on them. The bandit group: much like the solo bandit but these packs of rats work in groups, mostly setting up road blocks and missing vehicles that go past with terrible aim, they will give make no attempts to communicate and play to KOS. When playing dayZ the best advice is to treat everyone as a threat, don't become another douche bag and KOS, try to interact with the players, get them to drop their weapons and rob them or if you feel they are safe just let them go. You will have much more of a rewarding feeling if you communicate with someone and get them to drop their weapon rather than just sniping an unarmed player from an undisclosed location.
