Cherno Journo Twitch.tv Stream Kidnapping Event
chernojourno posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So due to the popularity of the Stream kidnapping event last time we’ve decided to run it again. For those of you who missed it last time here’s a chance to be a part of the fun and frivolity this time around. You can watch the highlights of the previous kidnap event for an overview here The Stream Kidnaping event works like this. I will stream my feed on a server live for 5 hours at http://www.twitch.tv/cherno_journo - During this time I will spawn in at Cherno and I’ll stay in Cherno until I am kidnapped or the bodyguards meet up with me and move me. If you want to kidnap me just fire a weapon over my head or nearby and I will comply with all orders. I need you to fire a weapon to prove you have ammunition – you don’t need to hit me you just need to shoot near me. No shot - no compliance - simple. Once I’m kidnapped do what you want to me – except kill me – killing is bad and all that happens is I respawn far away from you. You can take me anywhere, break my legs, disarm me or barricade me into a building. I won’t ALT-F4 the whole time. The only thing is you can’t do it put me in a vehicle or boat or take me away from the kidnap zone – see the attached pdf rules and map for details of the kidnap zone. Kidnap Event Rules The catch is I’ll have bodyguards and like the President that will defend me to death. And once you have me they will still be able to watch the stream and set up a rescue attempt – I hope. The stream never stops and I’ll be broadcasting my location over side chat every 10 minutes once I’m kidnapped. There are a few rules outlined in the Rules PDF Document For the sake of expediency I’d ask that all kidnappers place a [K] in front of their name for the event and likewise if bodyguards can use a . As last time the bodyguards had no way of communicating with each other the bmrf admins will set up a teamspeak channel that is password protected for the bodyguards. I won’t be on it but you can all communicate with each other using that channel. To obtain the password you must have a in front of your in game name and will need to PM one of the mods of the twitch.tv stream either before or during the event. The teamspeak details are on the BMRF forums If kidnappers want a channel set up they can but we haven’t done this from the outset as last time there were two distinct kidnap teams working against each other to nab me. There's some time for you to log in and gear up before the event. I’d encourage teams or clans to gear up and pick a side, either is a lot of fun and it’ll make a welcome change from battles at NWAF. So onto the important details. Server: Billy Mays Remembrance Foundation. This is a whitelisted private hive so you’ll need to sign up here http://bmrf.me/ to be whitelisted. Once you make a forum account whitelisting is automatic so you can join even if the event is in progress. They have 3 servers and I’ll announce which one on the stream. The servers all share a hive so it doesn’t matter which one you pick to gear up on but there is a 10 minute timer on server changes to discourage ghosting. Time: Sunday 4th of November at 10pm UTC Follow the link to see what time it is in your part of the world. Duration: 4 hours from start -
Maybe some other noobs find reading this interesting. Especially if your idea of fun does not include: - Getting shot in Cherno + Electro trying to find some basic gear. - Spawning in the south, running a trillion miles to the north without having basic gear. Was fun the first time I did it, now even thinking about it sends a chill up my spine. Disclaimer: To me, public hive is "anything goes". Shoot on sight, shoot to kill. Private hives are there for more serious play. Public hive has one objective: Find some good gear. Stash some gear. Find more good gear. Kill people attempting to get even more good gear. And so on and so forth. Serverhopping/Ghosting: Well, not in ongoing firefights. But logging out at a nice position in the middle of a city or on some hill -> yes [The gentleman thing to do would certainly be to log out in the woods somewhere, having to flee cities before logging out and approaching them each time, not logging out at nice positions in the middle of cities] Only thing I don´t do in public hives is logging out in an ongoing firefight. Lose a firefight -> die. So here is the story of my first "succesful" play, aka getting good gear and holding on to it for more than 2 minutes! Took many fails before that happened, luck is always involed. If you get lucky... don´t take too many chances, is my advice. Not the very first time. - Join a server. Spawn near Cherno. Go to southern church. Barricaded by barbed wire. Hear flies buzzing. Circle the church, find a dead bandit and a dead regular guy lying right next to each other. Mkay... bandit has AKS Cobra with ~20 bullets, toolbox, matches, compass... lucky start. Church is empty though. - Log out. Join empty server. Find more mags, food, drinks. Log out on the hill near the hospital in Cherno. - Join full server. Approach city. Enter some roof. Don´t know the city, have no idea what I´m doing. Get shot at by someone with a silenced weapon. Strafe around more insanely than a headless chicken, get down ladder and ruuuuuuuun. Somehow survive with plenty of health despite being hit at least one time and bleeding a good while. Flee the scene. Wouldn´t have entered the city anyways after that, no way in hell. So either log out or go somewhere else. As I said, on a public hive I want deathmatch, not marathon. *disconnect* - Join full server. Approach city. Enter some building, go to roof. Hear shots, see trillions of zeds gathering at some building. Nobody there? Aha, look upwards. It´s the highest building in the city. Even see guys up there... take some shots at them, they hit the floor. Leave building, approach enemy position with care. Throw a smoke grenade to lure the trillions of zeds away from there. Enter building, slowly crouching. Blood is raining through the ceiling beneath the roof. Get up the ladder, see a sniper looking at the ladder. Get the fuck down. Sniper goes down the ladder. Guess he was trapped between a rock and a hard place at that moment. Shoot him, get really nice weapons and gear. Reeaaaaalllly niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Hang around for a while. Too nervous, log out. Cowardly. Yes. Nobody was actively shooting at me, or probably even knowing I was there. But I´m not sure I could´ve fled the city without dying. Anyway, just too nervous about holding a sniper rifle in my hand for the first time. Haven´t even configured the keys to really use it yet, never mind about zeroing etc. - Join emtpy server. Learn how to use sniper rifle. Find tent. Stash all my shit in tent. Go to city, find another backpack + m4a1, having a sniper rifle + assault rifle + sweet tools + best backpack stored in a tent. - Join full server with m4a1 + empty backpack, ready to die without a care in the world or get more sweet, sweet loot. Now at this point, at least for me, the game starts to be more than a frustrating, hellish chore. I can interfere in some firefights with a chance of winning them and if I die, I don´t have to start with absolutely nothing(as long as my tent is not looted). So, people who play this game for ages now and have every extra rare weapon stashed a trillion times on a trillion different servers, you now may bash me for being a coward etc. trying to get a foothold in the public hive without being everyone´s bitch again... and again... and again... and again... :D

SWC-Dayz Private Hive 3PNo Nameplates Full Moon Nights Custom Heli Spawn
tsmhicks posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I am not the owner of this server nor apart of this community, I am just a player. I just started playing on it last night and I'd have to say this is probably the most exciting DayZ Private Hive I have played. The server configuration makes it to where it was 1.4/1.5 . AS50 and L85 are gone and the overall playstyle is like 1.4/1.5 alot of teamwork in this server and Many clans (just going off tags). Def a refresh after I stopped playing this for 2 months. Im back and playing on this server for sure! I am just posting his server stuff from Reddit to here. SWC-DayZ Server - Private Hive Server: DayZ Bliss SWC-DayZ (v1.7.2.6/build 97771) [Veteran|3DP:ON|CH:ON][GMT-11] - http://www.SWCombine.com Website: http://www.silverfalls.org/dayz/ We are a group of players from another game that have all become addicted to DayZ. Up until recently we were hosting US 2881, a public hive server. Due to all the hackers and inability for us to do much of anything about them, we have decided to go private hive. We would like to build a community of players around our server that want to have fun and play DayZ. You won't be banned for killing admins or stealing our vehicles though we may hunt you down like the bandit you are.! Features: Running a Bliss 50-slot private hive server on a VPS - meaning there aren't other DayZ servers on the same machine. Running 24/7 Veteran Difficulty 3rd: On - Tracers: Off - NP: Off - CH: On - DM: On Currently 130 vehicles including 2 helicopters (this may change) Custom Heli Loot (removed L85 and AS50, put in new weapons) Always Full Moon at night Custom buildings for groups / clans Vehicles / Tents properly saving Side Chat enabled (though we don't want people using it for voice chat) Updates / restarts happen pretty fast and you get prior notice Server in US Database backups every 30 minutes Whitelist, application process and password used to minimize hackers Our own private Mumble voice chat server Rules: Things not allowed No hacking No duping intentionally No ghosting - pretty much this shouldn't be possible on our private hive, but just in case someone finds a way to do it.. don't. No hoarding of vehicles - if you're two people, you don't need 5 vehicles. If your group has 1 helicopter, leave the others alone. This does not mean you can't steal vehicles from others, it just means don't create a parking lot of unused vehicles. No Alt + F4'ing to escape other players. Don't care if you do this to get away from zombies. Refrain from killing fresh spawns. You won't get banned if you happen to kill one, mostly what we mean here is don't camp the beaches looking for new spawns to kill. (Robbing, taking em hostage is fine). No using barbed wire or tank traps to block off popular spawn sites (fire stations, churches, etc). Exceptions to this are if you are inside the building at the time or if you are using the location as your home base. No begging admins for weapons or vehicles. If we want you to have it, we will add it as a spawn to the map where everyone can compete for it. No VOIP in side chat. We don't wanna hear your music, heavy breathing, TV, etc. No trolling or harassment over side chat. No excessive use of bad language, racist comments, basically use your common sense. We're not gonna kick your for expressing your displeasure in the fact that we just killed you, but just don't go overboard. Things we DO allow Kill on sight (KOS) is allowed though we encourage you to interact more with other players as we are trying to build a community here. Bandits are welcome, though we'd much prefer you truly play a bandit - hostage taking, robbing, etc are encouraged over just shooting on sight, though you won't get punished for KOS. Base building at major locations. If you can protect it, it's within your rights to own any spot on the map. Be prepared to really have to fight hard for the more popular spots. Role-playing is encouraged though not required. Anyone purposefully trolling or abusing someone attempting to roleplay will be dealt with harshly. Forming your own groups / clans. We'd love to have other active players on the server, whether bandit or survivor. If somehow you lose your gear / vehicles due to a hacker, the admins will work on replacing what we can. If you lose it due to zombies, bugs or glitch, we will not replace it. Sorry for this but it's impossible for us to prove you really lost the stuff this way. Interested in joining? Just visit our website and fill out the application. We'll get you processed as soon as we can, but note we like to play the game too so it may take a few hours. If you haven't got a response in 24 hours let us know. Once you are accepted you'll get a PM on our forums with the password. You'll then need to join so we can add you to the whitelist. -
We are now looking for serious players to join our hacker free private server. We are a friendly bunch, more into survival, who are looking for other serious players to join. Maps are rotated by vote and difficulty is set according to map (read: Chernarus can be set harder than a new map). 40 slots available and the idea is to have two teams (20 on 20) that battle it out. Shooting fresh spawns on the south coast, ghosting, DISCO in PvP, racism, harassment and other game ruining behaviour = immediate kick and ban from server. Competitive trash talking (within the boundaries of above) is allowed. Side channel is on, but only for contacting game admin. Server is located in Luxembourg, routed through Frankfurt, Germany and normal ping from UK, Ireland and France is around 40ms. 160 vehicles maximum on map + care package drop. Normal vanilla loot table for now. Server is rebooted once a day. Timezone is UTC with full cycles. If you feel that this is what you are looking for, contact [email protected] First come, first served.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?
IncognitoNico replied to TGH's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually think that for the sake of making the game harder, there should be a lot more guns, a lot less military grade equipment (Including rangefinders, NVGs, and yes all of the guns like make only 2 military grade assault rifles, like only the ak-74 and the an-94, maybe even make the only sniper rifle be the dragunov) and a lot more civilian equipment, a lot civilian/hunting weapons that use different ammo types, so maybe the ammo won't be as rare, but it will still be hard to find the right kind of ammo for your gun Actually to prevent server hopping/ghosting/al-f4ing, they only need to make it so you can't disconect inside towns/buildings if you alt-f4 your character would just stay still/dies not only in the cities, a player can alt-f4 in the woods if they find somebody And if you built a base, they wouldn't be able to ghost in there, since that base would only be in the server you built it in. And I think the best way to prevent ghosting/server hopping, is to just have different characters for each server, like if it was a private hive But anyways I think they should only implement these things when the hacker are pretty rare since you could save your 2 weeks worth of looting and gearing up by alt-f4ing if a hacker kills everybody -

Depending on how long you were away, Private hives are all the rage now. Pro's - Way less hackers, regular faces, get to know people and form a community, no ghosting, no server hopping. Most bugs fixed. Con's - Passworded , need whitelisting, gear is only saved on that one server / hive. Check out - http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-private-hive-discussion/ -
I like how people are using the word 'exploit' like it's a bad thing. Exploiting is to make full and complete use of something. Like an in-game mechanic developed for the purpose of creating new loot for players to obtain. I also like how people seem to think that exploit and cheat/hack seems to mean the same thing. To exploit is to take full advantage of a previously-existing mechanic to your advantage. To 'cheat', in it's most primitive form, is to act dishonestly to get an advantage. Using a mechanics that was purposely put in the game to do what it's currently doing is not cheating. Loot cycling, ghosting, combat logging, etc. are ALL part of the game. Though I don't combat log or ghost, I do loot cycle. I don't use any third party programs or anything like that. I just play the game. If you get mad because of that, then go ahead. Be mad. If ghosting and combat logging become universally bannable, then that's fine by me. It's a shitty tactic anyways. However, loot cycling doesn't hurt anyone, nor does it disrupt their gaming schedule. It's just a smarter way to play.
-
This is just totally untrue. I'm done with the argument, as I have said my piece, but I will defend myself from slander. Hacking, loot cycling, server hopping, ghosting, dupping ect. These are all things I do not subscribe to, nor would I ever support.

DayZ Redux - DayZ purist focused custom DayZ Mod (Formerly DayZ DIAF)
venthos replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
To stress the point further, each server is separate. If I ever turn up a US #2 or EU #2, they too will be separate databases. I do not plan to run a multi-server hive since I cannot effectively prevent ghosting/server hopping. Think of it like an MMORPG where each server is a separate community. How is this different from if I'm a new spawn (be it first time to the server, or respawned from death) on the US server (where there have never been inbound transfers) and I login to some guy with all that same gear who just came down from his camp to kill people in Cherno/Elektro/etc.? How is he less of an impact on my gameplay than someone who transferred their character? If anything, I'd argue the transferred character is going to bugger off right quick and go try and setup a camp in the north since he cared enough to transfer his character (a lot of people just didn't care enough and started fresh anyway). I guess I just don't see what massive "advantage" they are getting that results in players not playing on the server. At any point in time for *any* DayZ server in existence, you are going to have new spawns and geared players (regardless how they got geared) mingling on the coast. You seem to suggest that unless everybody starts off empty handed within those first few hours of the fresh server being turned up, the server is forever tainted and unbalanced. I just don't see how that's different than if you login 1 month later as a new spawn vs within the first hour as a new spawn. There will always be people more geared up than you. I fail to see how you personally will have had your potential game experience changed. The EU box has been up for several days now. No doubt those 8-10 transferred people have lost their gear by now or that there are many more players who are as geared if not more geared. You won't be able to tell a "transferred" character (if any still exist) vs. a non-transferred player if you play on the EU server. That's kind of my point. Any benefit they got from transferring their gear is instantly lost the second they die. Just like how players die constantly and lose everything they worked for. If all 8-10 players have died at least once since their transfer (and didn't recover their corpse), is the server then balanced again? Say that I never revealed to anyone that there were 8-10 transferred players on the server (which again may or may not have since been killed). You've mentioned this a deal breaker for you starting up with this mod. Explain to me how you would be aware that there were transferred players on the server and (even if you weren't aware) how it would negatively impact your experience Thus far the only argument you seem to have vocalized is that they will have more gear than you do. The "on the coast" thing isn't really valid since I haven't transferred anyone in about 36 hours and I doubt they've just AFKd at the coast. So, up north, there's now a few more geared players than there may have been. Say you spawn in as a new spawn at Elektro. How does this now impact your gameplay such to the point you are refusing to try the mod? That's the part I fail to understand. If it's "there's geared players already there" then I fail to see how this is any different than someone simply dying and respawning. They, too, will have to run into well geared players. If it's "they didn't work for it on this server". True, but they worked for it on the US server which was the same mod. The didn't earn it any less. In fact, you could argue it was harder for them to have earned it on the US server (crammed with US + EU folks at the time) than to have just spawned on the EU server fresh and run to NWAF and farm items. If you could enumerate precisely how it negatively affects your gameplay, perhaps I may better understand. I'm not really sure if I'm communicating my thoughts on this efficiently, since it appears we both are misunderstanding each other. -
me and my clan are looking for good private server to join because we are fed up of hackers. we are a uk based team very experienced and play pure legit no dupping,ghosting.d/c'ing. we play proper old school dayZ. we have alot of vehicle experienced aswell so you can expect us to hoard/fix them. so if your an admin who can provide a good anti hacking server and would like to see a proper clan play dayZ as it should be let me know so we can talk. Stream Kidnapping is On Again – This Time For The Charity Extra Life
chernojourno posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For those of you who aren’t aware this is here is the website www.extralife.org where basically gamers play/stream for 24 hours while raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since I ‘m unable to do 24 hours I am helping out by joining TheThintanker’s stream for 3 hours and holding my kidnapping event. So the idea is very simple but filled with all that great DayZ tension. I will stream my feed on a server live for 4 hours http://www.twitch.tv/cherno_journo During this time I will spawn in at Cherno and I’ll stay in Cherno until I am kidnapped. If you want to kidnap me just fire a weapon over my head or nearby and I will comply with all orders. I need you to fire a weapon to prove you have ammunition as last time a guy with no ammo tried to kidnap me. No shot - no compliance - simple. Once I’m kidnapped do what you want to me – except kill me – killing is bad and all that happens is I respawn far away from you. You can take me anywhere, break my legs, disarm me, barricade me into a building. I won’t ALT-F4 the whole time. The only thing is you can’t take me any further north than the line from Zelenogorsk to Solnichniy to give the other side a chance to retrieve me. The catch is I’ll have bodyguards and like the President they will defend me to death. And once you have me they will still be able to watch the stream and set up a rescue attempt – I hope. The stream never stops and I’ll be broadcasting my location over side chat every 10 minutes once I’m kidnapped. There are a few rules. 1) I may be armed but as part of the ethics of the Chernarus Free Press I will never fire upon another player. So if you are a kidnapper you have nothing to fear from me killing you. 2) I will only comply with any kidnapper’s orders once there are no bodyguards around. You need to kill or incapacitate them first before I will comply. I will never follow an order to kill another player or myself but other than that it’s fair game so be creative. 3) Once I’m kidnapped I will make attempts to escape if there is no gun pointed at me. Again I won’t shoot any kidnappers but I will try to run away, jump out of cars, etc. You’ll need to find some way of restraining me, i.e. break my legs or barbed wire me into a corner. But if I’m escaping I won’t stop because I’m ordered to. You’ll need to break my legs to stop me at that point, so I hope you’re a good shot. If you have a gun pointed at me I won’t run so it’s best to have a guard always on me. But that’s all the rules. Kidnappers can infiltrate the bodyguards and take them down one at a time if they wish – Lava did this last time and it was a great reveal. I’ll only communicate in direct chat but you’re welcome to use any TS to speak with each other. I’d encourage any well organised squads to teams to join up and have fun in either role. There some time for you to log in and gear up before the event. And any other streamers it would be great to see it from your perspective as well. So onto the important details. Server: Billy Mays Remembrance Foundation. This is a whitelisted private hive so you’ll need to sign up here http://bmrf.me/ to be whitelisted. Once you make a forum account whitelisiting is automatic so you can join even if the event is in progress. They have 3 servers and I’ll announce which one on the stream. The servers all share a hive so it doesn’t matter which one you pick to gear up on but there is a 10 minute timer on server changes to discourage ghosting. Duration: 4 hours To Donate: As I’m not playing the full 24 hours I’m not a registered participant so if you’d like to donate please use Kyle Meeks donation link Kyle Meeks Extra Life Donate Link If your US based the donations are Tax Deductible. Let’s have a great time and raise some funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Mods if this is the wrong spot please feel free to move it. -
Are you serious? That's all you have to contribute to this thread? I did mention at the top of my post that I did use the search function and came up with no results. It's not my fault the search function is less than stellar or other posters are not using relevant tags. Here were my "Search" results: " Suicide" - Didn't result in any similar OP. "Forced Suicide", results in "Website Currently Unavailable" "Ghosting" & "Combat Logging" got some hits: Safe Zones - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Log off Delay - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Save Your Location and Sleep - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Log On Delay - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Prevent Spawning In Locations - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. One Character per Server - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Hive Handshaking - Nope, not the idea I've proposed. Oddly enough, what I did find was more than few posts by you bitching about people posting. Yep, you have an interesting way of contributing to a discussion -- kind of useless by my way of thinking but each to their own. p.s. - I agree with you that leaving an active character on the server is a bad idea, and that's not at all what I proposed. Did you even read the content here or did you just decide to take it upon yourself to bitch based on the thread title? No... don't bother to answer, I question whether any response would just be equally as pointless as your last.
-
You totally have a good point regarding people just "end tasking" or who suddenly lose connection to the server. However, I would gladly suffer a forced suicide if the latter happened while I was in a combat situation if it prevents combat logging and ghosting. I would certainly rather have a viable solution to this problem than to not have one for fear of that 0.009% chance that my system or Internet will crash while I'm in combat. Just my opinion though...
-
Yep, that's simple enough. In my opinion it doesn't solve anything though. In example, you're in a town and get sniped at from another building. You return fire and hit your assailant, who immediately backs up into the safety of a room. Now I don't know about you, but unless you go charging in, it will likely take you longer than one minute to tactically approach that room and attempt to finish your assailant off, which by that time he very well could have combat logged to exit a situation that he started. This happens all of the time by the way, which is why I don't think a one minute timer will work for such a solution. As it stands, I think Rocket is currently considering a 5 second timer like this for stand alone, which in my opinion solves nothing, even if players are ranked for server exclusive based on combat logging events. Why even go there at all, just force a suicide -- problem totally solved and no more advantages to combat logging or ghosting.
-
Gotta take the bad with the good if your going to implement combat logging / ghosting prevention of some sort. Plus, you can always run off and hide under a tree somewhere. =) I did say "in my opinion", but I'm also not a fan of a cool down timer as was mentioned or discussed in other posts simply because, just as you pointed out, everybody has a different idea of what is an acceptable cool down time. IMO, forced suicide for combat logging with a server-side warning regarding such actions seem to solve the whole cool down timer length issue.
-
That's been discussed before, but there seems to be two big issues with it: How long should the cool down timer be? (Anything less than 10 minutes is somewhat pointless in my opinion.) If the cool down is sufficiently short, it won't prevent ghosting. At least a forced suicide would totally eliminate combat logging *and* ghosting.

Devs working on standalone, what's your opinion?
Jex =TE= (DayZ) replied to morgan32's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't know how much time they spent on dogs - and no we won't see it until the SA which is what they are working on. AFAIK dayz mod is over for Rocket and good, I don't want him working on that shit as it takes his time off the SA. As for "Wouldn't that time be better spent working on Zed pathing, AI, spawns, Loot system, making doors not kill you, Alt+F4/ghosting/server hopping and other core issues of the hive format?" That is exactly what they're doing right now with the SA. New animations, better AI for the zeds, whole new spawn system - where have u been dude? lol ;) -
Devs working on standalone, what's your opinion?
Never replied to morgan32's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just have to ask, after reading my comment in here does my post in the other read become clearer? This is why i'm not sure about the standalone. How much dev time has gone on Dogs? To have it still not working? Wouldn't that time be better spent working on Zed pathing, AI, spawns, Loot system, making doors not kill you, Alt+F4/ghosting/server hopping and other core issues of the hive format? Just seems the focus is all wrong. -
Base Fortifications?
Fraggle (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Play on a private hive to avoid ghosting. With regards to the fortifications, the sandbags and so on were only added to test various mechanics. The plan is to have underground bases eventually. -
I can undertand people's ideas and need for Safe Zones but i think these safe zones should be player created. You want to make Cherno safe? Barricade a section off and defend it. There shouldnt be any game created safe areas, and especially not areas made safe by hi tech gadgets like Auto turrets. Put players on lookout if you want to make the area safer. Unfortunately despite all the best efforts of making a zone safe the problem of ghosting makes surface safe zones obsolete. Would they work if a player could just server hop inside your safe zone and drop a grenade on the floor? I think that is why bases will be instanced and put underground. Bases can be attacked and taken over but only in the server they have been created in and only through valid entrances. No one will be able to server hop in. Truth be told, i would love to come across an area that has been fortified and protected and allows players to trade under the watchful eye of player guards, but i dont think it is feasible in the mod's current state. A few have tried and so far all have been hacked, attacked or had choppers flown into them.

Aether Services Lingor US01 - Private hive NOW LIVE
psikys posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Why is the server awesome? Constant admin presence, latest anti-cheat software, private hive (no ghosting). We've setup a trade center and safe zone, medical services, mechanic services, merc services, and pretty much we are willing to help with whatever you need help with...as long as you're willing to provide the coin. 50 player max Battleye enabled - BEC enabled Teamspeak available for those who wish to join Side Chat enabled VON enabled - but you will be kicked if you spam side chat Kill messages are enabled (makes catching hackers easier). Come join, call us home and hang out! Careful though...if you think you feel someone watching you...I can't guarantee the crosshairs aren't on the back of your neck. We are not whitelisting at this moment, but will be in the future. To ensure you are on the whitelist, let us know at www.aethergames.us Thanks guys! -

Venthos, when the EU server comes up (crossing fingers for some time tonight) is it going to possible to have characters migrated from the US server to the EU one? and are they going to be on separate databases? hoping yes to both especially last one to stop ghosting/server hopping for loot etc. If it is possible for you to migrate characters from US to EU I will give you a list of BSB that will be looking to swap over.
