Here's my 2 cents. I really hope at least some of this reaches dev team. Please discuss constructively. #1. For the love of God, NO BATTLE EYE. #2. Characters bound to specific server with game allowing for maximum 8-10 characters different servers. 1 character per server max to prevent item swapping and building up with "disposable character". This will easily fix combat server hopping, storing items in camps on secure servers, spawn server hopping etc... This will also be consistent with vehicles and tents being server bound. This will also develop communities because instead of people hopping servers they will play with same people eventually developing rivalries or friendships. #3. Time out before log out (like in other mmo RPG/FPS such as Planetside or Wow). Time out should be server side and independent of gamer client. I.e. if you alt F4, you character will stand around on the server for 15 seconds and can be killed. #4. Active equipement slots for : primary weapon - 2 handed, secondary weapon - 1 handed, Tool - 1 handed. Cannot use anything else while using 2 handed items obviously, but one handed items can be combined. Example: Firefighters Axe = 2 handed. Rifle = 2 handed. Flashlight = 1 handed, Makarov =1 handed, combat knife = 1 handed. So you could use handgun+flashlight, flashlight+knife or knife+handgun simultaneously for example. All actions such as cutting wood could be appended by item and accessed without explicitely equiping the item. So you could use 2 handed axe or a small hatchet to cut wood for example. #5. New "household/improvised" weapons for beginner civilian spawns: - Melee: Stick, Shovel, spetsnaz shovel (entrenching tool), baseball bat, baseball bat with nails, kitchen knife, hunting knife, hammer, axe, CHAINSAW (yeeees!... uses jerrycans as ammo) - Ranged: flare gun (one shell magazine, shoots flares similar to M203 grenade launcher. however they do damage to player/zombies), Tazer (knocks players out, inefective vs zombies), Bow, Nailgun (industrial spawn, short range, random low-moderate damage, uses nails as ammo), #6. Ability to craft weapons, devices from junk you find : Hammer + nails + baseball bat = Baseball bat with nails String + 3xempty can = crude alarm (makes loud noise when triggered) string + kitchen knife + stick = Makeshift Spear String + Grenade = explosive trap (will probably be overused kinda like barbed wire near firestation now to kill noobs, but will force people not to run through cities speed looting, and will defend your camps... Could present balance issues, should not credit kill to player) #7. Ability to upgrade vehicle to adapt them to post apocalyptic environment. Example: You may find a broken Ural, fix it to working condition, then add a spiked bumper, armored plating on the sides, engine upgrade and a machinegun on top to make it into a true zombie crusher. And it would look bad ass. (Google trucks made by mexican cartels. here is one) #8. Rivers / lakes / marshes / islands. I worked with Operation Flashpoint engine (which is essentially early version of Arma2 engine) and I know it doesnt take kindly to rivers. Hopefully Arma3 engine (which I assume Dayz Standalone will use) can better handle it. Having a network of rivers (with islands of different sizes!) that can be navigated by boat will give a whole new dimension to survival and safety. You can find a boat and go up stream without fearing zombies, you can make a fortified camp on an island and claim that territory. It can give place to Vietnam like situations of riverside ambushes and people using boats at night to travel etc. It will also create new very dangerous zone: bridges. Being the only way to cross a river if you do not have a boat, they will quickly become sniper magnets. As obstacles, rivers can also serve as sort of boundaries for beginner, intermediate and advanced zones on the map... VERY interesting gameplay possibilities IMO. Unfortunately one of the least developed gameplays in the whole franchise as well. Subject to balance of course #9. Ability to restore power to cities. Fix a powerplant, and it will light up the city at night (for a certain number of days lets say). Also maybe the zombies are not comfortable with light and they will leave a city (stop spawning) if lights are working. The loot should stop spawning as well for balance (if town is safe in real life it will be picked clean in hours). Or maybe powerplant can power some sort of constructable Towers that will repulse zombies (infra sound generators for example). Zombies can periodically spawn to attack these towers giving players a mission to defend those towers if they want to keep town zombie free. This can create "safe" zones (safe from zombies) where players can interact. Either establish claimed territory or create a hub for trading. #10. A variety of clothing, including camouflages, Facepaint :thumbsup: , ghilliy suits as they are in game now. Ability to change hats, and maybe other pieces of clothing (probably will be impossible under arma engine though) #11. No visible distinction between friendlies and bandits should be made (like in real life). #12. Possibility to create squads. Making a squad gives you a slightly better way of spotting your squadmates (like in arma 2 SP now). This is a game and we have to compensate for lack of visual inputs after all. Friendly fire is still on, so if you team up with wrong people its your funeral still.... #13. Body armor. Rare obviously. Found in police stations (Bullet proof vests) or army installations (camo flak jackets and helmets) #14. All buildings should be explorable (probably impossible under arma engine :(. Oh well) #15. Camouflage nets, to mask your vehicles and camps from air ad ground. I also heard ideas of underground structures discussed by Rocket. Thats cool. #16. Separate attachements for weapons. ability to add silencer if found, scope if found. Subject to compatibility between weapon and attachement. (i think its already in Arma3) #17. Ability to claim regions on the map. Cities , forests, islands etc... Not sure on mechanic and implications #18. Diferent infections player can catch. Cold = pneumonia (cough, cure=antibiotics) , Zombie attacks = The Virus (player turns into zombie after 48 hours, cure= Vaccine), any wounds that are not treated for a while = infection ( vision blurry, cure= antibiotics, in not treated may kill) #19. Player with broken legs that takes morphine still has his mobility reduced for some time. #20. Fishing, trapping. Considering it is a survival mod, it makes sense. A mechanic has to be worked out however as I doubt people will sit for 15 minutes on one spot trying to catch a fish with snipers around. Maybe nets, that you can come back to and get fish out of them. #21. A very "light" set of skills. No skill trees, and they could be learned semi randomly through books found in game. For example : Survival guide = Trapping learned OR firemaking learned, Army fire arms guide = slightly less recoil (or rather normal recoil. beginner character has amplified recoil) OR slightly faster reload (or rather normal reload. beginner character has increased reload) Some of these skills, like fire arms handling should also be learned over time. This kind of skills are well represented in ARMA editor by skill slider (in Operation Flashpoint at least). In OP you could play a mission as a recruit that has trouble controling his breath, and next mission as a spec op who is a cold professional with pin point aim. Evolution like this in Dayz could be cool as we all start as "civilians" as long as it doesnt gimp new players too much. --- EDITED 2012-08-19 --- New ideas #22. Improved object throw mechanic. Having a choice between lighting flare or lighting and throwing it. accessible through "firemode" selection. #23. Ability to make signals with road flares/chemlights. Action accessible from mousewheel menu when you are holding a flare. You could for example wave the flare above your head to signal. #24. Urban camouflage. Maybe also some rare high end version of specops night camouflage (without going too much into sci fi) #25. Repairable trains. the railroad is already pretty believable in Arma 2. Putting 2-3 trains that can be repaired and driven one or more cars would be cool i think. Just need to make sure no collisions are possible. can be attacked and disabled/destroyed. #26. adjust weapons spawns to ensure that majority of new players have civilian weapons. getting an AKM within minutes from spawn is a little unrealistic. Some testing will surely be needed, but maybe make all weapons more rare to make people improvise/cooperate more? #27. different zombie types. not just way they move like now, but different power (military stronger than civilians for ex) , different speed, different awareness. Again, more challenge to force people to work together --- EDITED 2012-08-21 --- #28. How about more random AI "special" encounters. Like a rare spec ops team for example doing reconnaissance on the ground. They can arrive by chopper (thus alerting players to their presence), move through several waypoints on the map, engage zombies in towns, and kill players on site (their orders are anything = zombie) and, if alive extract from a different point on the map. This would have a kind of resident evil flavour, government investigation... they would carry rare military weapons, good equipement, if players get lucky to catch them while theyre loading / unloading, they could even get a working chopper... should be a very rare encounter, much less likely than finding a chopper for example. And they should present serious danger to players. A watered down version could be a more common encounter of a small military camp with Ai soldiers being attacked by zombies. or a small military vehicle convoy trying to get out to their evac point.... Again all encounters _could_ be hostile, but then again, there could be some that are friendly and give trade / quest options... Would give a little more rpg flavour to the game, but would keep sandbox gameplay as long as these events are kept very rare... #29. Giving players possibility to use bloodpacks on themselves, basically a last resort do or die choice. Probability death = 67% Probability survive and full HP restore 33%. that way people would use it only when faced with certain death.

How Will You Play Standalone Without the Mod's Exploits?

I hope it is better than the MOD, I recently purchased the components of a new system and the first thing I did was re-install the Mod, I was dissapointed with it. Perhaps it was that I have overplayed it in the past, but after a 5 month break I was expecting some drastic updates. But I am sure we all have bad days. Roll on the SA, Exploits or not, players will find chinks and exploit them, there will be new ways and means. I am expecting some issues with the SA, If rocket and co are working on it after release (Base building, Vehicles etc) I expect it to be broken a few times. -
Why is the NE Airfield so lame?

Yep. Hardly ever go there. I would prefer it were converted to a commercial airport instead of a supposed military one. You can find some camps/vehicles nearby though as lots of people seem to think the area around Willow and Black lakes are good hiding spots. -
I read that they will come later. Supposedly Rocket is designing cars so you can swap out parts and end up with a ghetto looking El Camino with the door from a Chevy Nova and the front left quarterpanel from a Ford Pinto. I hope he adds more vehicles too. The current setup where vehicles are a rare and wonderful treasure sucks. It's simply not worth it to spend hours rebuilding a car just to hide it forever at the far edges of the map for fear of having it stolen or shot up.

Same regulars on each day, im sure they are looking for some players to hunt! I'm starting to think Rockets origional game is not what people want, considering the difference between the influx of players to our Vanilla server, compared to our server with 90 Vehicles and 4 Helis.

Just wanted to add a few things. -We now have events every Friday night and Sunday evenings (EST) Lots of fun and sometimes good PvP. Lots of times players and clans coming together to finish an objective. - There's allot of custom bases\barracks with custom loot, All the Rmod weapons and vehicles that are in the game. -Theres a Trading post where players can trade anything in game to other players in a safe zone - Clan bases are created for all clans on the server. To create a clan you need 5 or more players playing on a regular basis. Theres some perks for having a clan. Protected bases, cars. - Server store: Theres a server store that you can use to buy weapons, heli, cars. Best thing is the player base which is very mature and very cool. I think if you come and stay for awhile you'll love it. What keeps me there is the continuity of the server. you feel like you have a home and you can build up your loot because there are foot lockers clans and players can have that they can hide around the map and Clans can have these same boxes within their bases to store loot. I am sure I am missing a few things but just come to Mans Last Stand and check it out. Or add me [RR] Kflo01 to Dayz Commander and join off of my name. What map do you use? Do you have any special starter gear and loads of vehicles etc? I personally am only interested in the 'vanilla' type of experience regardless of the map. Also, unfortunately being on the other side of the world i can only get on certain servers, but i am always willing to try new ones out. -

From what i understand the main focus is getting things to a point where the alpha can be released asap so people can wander around and explore. I too am disappointed that vehicles wont be included at release but i don't think the devs want to release something that they are not happy with or may indeed cause more problems if added in their current state. Tbh i much prefer vehicles and helis to be rare and like you said when you do find one it is a great moment. I think we all have to realise this is not just a port of the mod to a new engine. It is not DayZ modded to arma 3. It is a completely new game written from scratch. -
DayZ Chernarus Private Hive Test (1.7.6.1/103419) - Nice features

Hello, I setup a new DayZ server and I would like to have a stress test. It is hosted in Germany and it's on a 100/100 Megs Internet connection. IP: 85.25.95.93 port 2303 Since this is not my first server, I just wanted to cure some details and enhance it a little bit by adding the following features: - Self Blood Bag - AI Patrols - Auto Refuel - Heli Lift - Towing - Halo Jump - Persistent Debug Monitor There are 80 total vehicles in the server, 10 of them are helis (see picture). Server lifecycle is 3 hours, then it will restart (it will advise 1h, 30 min, 10 min, 5min and 1 min before). Heli crash are configured to spawn every 15 minutes (12 total before restart). The difficulty is set to veteran and the timezone is UTC-3 Let me know in case there will be some bugs/issues. Thanks Ilganna -

Hello, Server IP: 146.185.23.130:3391 This server is a private hive server located in the UK that has admins watching all the time. There is a increased vehicle spawn rate which means more vehicles. PvP is ALLOWED on this server. Difficulty is on VETERAN. There is a little more military loot in the game too, no buildings were added. The server is 24-Hour day Monday-Friday, And on Saturday-Sunday it is day and night based on server location. There will be a site soon to check your stats on the server. Removing vehicle weapon ammunition then adding them to a server

Hey, I am currently running a DayZ server and i want to add some more vehicles such as attack helicopters, not for their weapons but for their speed and their gunner cameras such as the Apache and the AH-1Z, however obviously before i add them, i want to find out if it is possible to make them spawn without any ammunition, so they cannot fire and instead they simply have their advantages and dissadvantages, ie, apache is fast, but not as agile as the huey, however it has a gunner camera, although it also has only 2 seats, i was also considering adding a super rare spawn of the Takistani jet the L-39, again without ammo, as it is just another fast vehicles with advantages and dissadvantages :), any help on removing the ammo will be greatly appreciated, thanks :) -

Especially with the DayZ Standalone being released within the next 2 months it's time too recruit new members. The Hellsing Organization hasn't been around since the end of 2012 so a long time. At the time we were one of the most popular and feared clans and now with the many clans new and old returning it's our turn. Now down too the basics. 1. DayZ Wise Breaking Point and Origins will be the main game played. 2. Others games can be openly played if requested. 3. All applicants must be of 18 years or older. 4. If your wondering about myself and DayZ experience i originally downloaded the mod roughly 3 days after it was released and played until end of 2012. I have been playing Lone Wolf style for the past month or 2 so i have a good level of experience i don't expect the same from most people but atleast a month of experience is welcome. We are currently a small clan as i have just left my old clan to start my own. We are looking for mature players to join our clan. Hellsing's are a UK-based group which aims for co-operative play in the world of dayz. What are some Benefits to being is Hellsing's? The ability to trade equipment with other clan members. What are the groups goals? Hellsing's main goal is to become one of the most feared/respected clans in all of chernarus. In otherwords this clan is all about being the bad guy and therefore the main focus of this clan is for everyone to have fun. This clan is aiming to have a max of 15-30 members so not to large. 4. How are we going to achieve these goals? One simple way brute force. We will use force to control towns, villages etc. This will raise the knowledge of our clan (hopefully) so that players will learn to avoid us. 5. What is being a member of Hellsings like? We want all want are members to have fun. This means that you can play whenever you want, however you want. We do not want the clan to get in the way of your real life. 6. How does the clan play in-game? In-game the clan is well organized. Depending on how many player's are on at a time e.g. groups will usually be a max of 4 or 6 so if there are 8 players online then there would be 2 groups of 4 and so on. Obviously we will still talk and chat like normal there isnt going to be any ordering people around or any "sir" bullshit. 7. Requirements for joining the clan (Below) Must be 18 or older.. We do not accept any d/cs, hackers or server hoppers. Must have played the game preferably for atleast a month or for more than a week at the least. Must know the Chernarus map and were the the main loots spots are. Must have skype or teamspeak preferably both. 8. How do i join this clan. Simple leave a comment below. There are no hive errors whatsoever.. this is wrong. Wrong. While this is a work in progress, we're working actively on updating our server files to replicate the feel of the original. Wrong again, gender and spawn locations are working fine. Loot spawn is as well.. we're working on some custom loot tables in our next hot fix. It's been mentioned before that we are working on a function to automatically spawn vehicles. You already have this function in your database, it's just not being utilized. There are over 450 spawn locations, only 160 are spawned with fresh databases.. this is why you are not seeing all of the vehicles. The vehicle locations are not guaranteed to be the same but we don't see that as being a problem. We'll be adding spawns by customer request. So you are playing Origins then? We got DDoSed. We're paying for DDoS protection and TC Admin / our website should be back up in the next hour or two. We never said anything about the creator of Origins. As we've said, this is a work in progress. We'll be releasing a hot fix for loot spawns and some various other things either tonight or tomorrow. The volcano bug can be fixed by installing the #1 hot fix from the Mod Manager. -

I have a friend (leader of my team) who's currently running a Taviana server. One of those servers where it's 500+ vehicles, weapon boxes around the map, added custom bases, added scripts, etc. It's not constantly just PvP unless there's 50+ people on, but it still feels like Wasteland with zeds most of the time. Many of the regulars (including me, and the rest of our team) have become bored and mainly aggravated because of how the server is played out with how easy it is to get geared up, the amount of vehicles, and especially the kind of community and players it attracts (which, none of us are very fond of). We've told him about what we think about it and maybe under-going some changes to make the server to have a more "DayZ" feel to it. With having said among the lines of; removing a majority of the vehicles, remove all the weapon boxes on the map and deleting a majority of the added in bases. Even though we remove the weapon boxes, we could also stabilize it by adding in barracks to some of the custom bases remaining on the map so that not all military loot would be coming from the Martin Barracks as a main focus for players (It would also add diversity to the map and makes it reasonable to travel around the map). Of course, after trying to reason with him, he insisted on saying no, and keeping the server how it is. No, I'm not starting this thread because he said no (It's his server, he can run it how he wants to). I just would like to see on behalf of the DayZ community, what kind of server would you rather have? The 500+ vehicles, gearing up completely in 15 minutes of game time, etc. (Wasteland with zeds feel). or A more survival feel; what DayZ should be, with the difficulty, the struggle, and time consuming fun that had began this mod all together.

This host is not using the right databse for origins, or the correct hivext. Which is why there are child/hive errors; Essentially, this isn't origins. Seeing as things aren't being fully verified by the database, (the server.pbo reads the database and defines bb_bse variable via the player_data and player_login tables.) If it can't find these tables, the following ceases to work: Gender select Spawn location select Base/House building. The reason you don't see vehicles spawning in their correct locations, is because the 'host' is essentially just importing his own vehicle spawn locations. You're basically playing Taviana with.. AI, Origins map, and origin zombies. The reason the loot is spawning so slow, is because of the player_data table missing. But that can be fixed by raising the loot chance, and removing the spawnCheck dependencies (on humanLty). Apparently the host does not fully understand what he's doing, so he's releasing an unfinished product. This is obviously NOT a good thing. -------------------- OVERALL, It's blatant that he's using the recently leaked files, instead of fully emulating the origins server side. I'd honestly like a refund, seeing as I was lied to. There is no "instant setup", or "good support". I've been waiting 6 to 7 hours since I purchased my server. I like how he mentioned that the creators of "origins" were money hungry, yet here he is. Lying, and scamming all these people. Making them think, that he will EVER get the origins servers to work properly! HA! -

I did say I would be uploading images of the added vehicles. With the removal of Rmod this has resulted in alot of the vehicles now not being available. Here is a sneek peek of a couple of the vehicles added to the server. i will update the main post with a break down of added vehicles once i have redone the vehicle spawns. -

I wouldn't say a lot of people are losing interest. I mean the SA hasn't been released into alpha and it hasn't even got an official website yet (these forums are for the ArmA DayZ mod, not the stand alone). Once it has a website and gets on with some proper advertising, you will see a fresh surge of interest. Don't forget that whatever does get released will not be a finished product either. I'm fairly certain it's already been said that there will be no vehicles to start with. Only one map will be available. There will almost certainly be bugs to resolve too! -
