Who would drive these vehicles? If you had a cruise ship would you really pick up random people off the shore of some third world country. DayZ is about authenticity. This is not authentic IMHO :| How would a ride from Chernarus to Japan (or anywhere for that matter) take 20min? :huh: The idea of making other areas available has been throw around a lot. This isn't the best way to do it, I feel. Sorry to rain on your parade :|

No worries, I know there is a lot of footage there and it can be difficult to pinpoint the abuse. I left with my crew of eight players after the Admin started spawning in tanks, jets, attack helicopters, and rocket launchers for himself. My friend U53R and I tried to explain that op vehicles and gear were a horrible idea because they could fall into the hands of the ordinary player, and of course they did. There were so many other abuse moments that occurred before I had recording software, such as two times where the admin used tanks to attack players rolling around in trucks which caused 20+ people to quit the server. The original owner is 16 years old I think, and it really shows in his behaviour and attitude towards the responsibilities as a server owner/admin. In fact the only people that continue to play that server are the ones he bribed with admin status to keep them around! -

We are a US based server with server hosting located in Missouri. This is a fairly new server but we are growing! We use HFB Servers for our hosting and everything has been running smoothly so far. We currently are running one server but are looking to start hosting another one on the same hive. We have a forum as well as a TeamSpeak set up for our players. Hello everyone! Here comes a new DayZ server on the classical Chernarus map. What we have added to the server is: -Auto refuel -Removable parts -Full moon nights -Ural tow & Heli Lift -Extra Heli crashes. (spawns every ten minutes up to server restart.) -Extra buildings in Kamenka, Komarovo, Stary Sobor, Novy Sobor, NWAF and NEAF. -Debug Monitor -Server restart every 3 hours. -Day and night times follow realtime, and will NOT reset on server restarts. We have also added a complex AI with different kinds of AI, for example, Bandit AI, Survivor AI, Soldier AI. Different AIs act in different ways against players. The Bandit AI shoots everything on sight, including Zombies while the Soldier and Survivor AI only shoots Bandits. The AI can also drive vehicles and if you are unlucky enough, they will steal your ride. There are also AI Helicopter which patrols the Island and shoots down on survivors. If you are capable of forcing one down to land, they will protect their helicopter with their life. -BATTLE ARENA EVENT- You spawn with only a bandage, painkiller, flashlight and a map.' Everyone starts from the same place and gets to run into a enclosed arena where there are several buildings containing medical supplies and weaponry. Your task is to be the last man standing in the Arena, whoever that is, wins a prize (not yet decided). We have also made the Skalisty Island a hotspot zone, where now there are medical tents, industrial sites, barracks and more. We have very active admins who are online every day but are also currently looking for more. We will in the near future also change Devils Castle to be a Military Outpost, guarded by highly skilled Elite Soldiers with increased Health. Me and my clan have been playing on a origins server for the past few days, and its the most friendly and welcoming server ever! Of course its not all sunshine and rainbows, PVP is still supported! Bandits will be lurking around any corner...This server generally has 10-15 people on it and we are looking to maybe get more people in it, so come on in and give it a try, theyre are plenty of vehicles to find and actually 3 pretty large (4 or more members on each) clans constantly battling it out! it wasnt over powered, we had rmod going, but nothing extreme point being of my post is cause they bashed on us and we cant even reply. because of their crying the server got shot down, the server was intended for clan survival pvp. without excessive vehicles, also rmod was being used mainly for clan skins..... -

I've got some questions... Can someone please explain me the deeper meaning of "alpha" ...does it mean we do not get a proper font for the inventory :o and no vehicles right from the start ? Why do they not use the Arma 3 engine. Will it still be Chernarus or a new map in the SA ??

Hi, I'm one of the main developers of downstream mod. You can check it decompiling dayz_code/config.cpp for example. You could see that all the weapons and descriptions are in Spanish. By the way, all the loot tables were done by me. Dunno if the map of breakingpoint was modified but, the custom map base also is mine, like Dichina's Castle, Krasnostav's new Airfield, Barracks in Stary Sobor, Guglovo + Zelenogorsk Hospitals...etc. Taser modification too. We've also added selective spawn (Earth-Air), basebuilding MOD, extra weapons, clothes can be taken from dead corpses, modification of DayZ vehicles (Offroad get 80km/h in openfield), etc. Regarding the new zombies, that awesome work was exclusively done by DeathlyRage. He added the wind effects and volumetric fog and the black GUI. Also added the r3f artillery and logistics, that we now have changed with another better mod. Correct me, but the rest of work was done by us. Server Files always were different. BreakingPoint uses reality DB. Downstream uses custom database synchronised with the web. You can manage in that web your inventory in real-time, can create clans and you will see all the tents, could create bases with gates and custom code, could have a custom and unique skin associated to that clan, can see the car spawnpoints.. I'll put an example of this Example images. Manage your Tents. You and your clan mates see the space, coordinates, last update (can see if has been stolen or not) Custom SpawnPoints. See every vehicle spawnpoint in the map, with his drop chance. There is an auto-script that spawns a new vehicle every restart depending on its dropchance. We have custom premium skins. If you have two or more, can the skin you want to spawn with. Kills are logged. You can see your recent deaths. You also can see your survivor. Where you are, your inventory, your tents, etc. We are wiping all our databases today. Will introduce the newest baseBuilding mod version, specially coded by w4rgo, with custom panels with key. That key won't be needed if a clan is registered on our web. It will be an automated process. I hope to clarify the situation. Its hard to see our map, custom loot table and the rest of work without being recognised. Regards.

I am a utilitarian sort. Lately I have had fun monitoring chat and other communications, responding sometimes to the needs of others - whether they ask for it or not. I like to fly people around. Buzz low over clan camps (sometimes strafing them with imprecise cannon fire). Run a taxi service. Run for parts other survivors need to fix up their various vehicles. Provide mysterious over watch. Run a few miles to give aid. Stock full a Ural with goodies and then park it in a busy area. I guess I enjoy unclaimed good deeds. Sometimes I get the hero skin and other times I loose it. It's due to a recent grim fascination with hunting down perpetrators of foolish and goofy behavior. But, everyone needs a hobby, right? -
I don't know how they could fit a whole new map into their priorities and get it done right within a timely manner. But I'm really hoping it goes like this: Release, Basic Fixes, Vehicles, Second Map, then all the refinement/content updates like base building, car customization, defecation, etc. I think a quality Western map would provide more immediate and long term benefit for the success of the game. In 3 months or less, we will all know this new Chernarus map quite intimately. How much updating can they really do in 3 months? But give us an entirely new map, DayZ London or whatever, and it may take us 6 months or more to get truly bored with it! Now Rocket's got potentially an entire year to work on refinements before the forums start grumbling about 'being bored' and 'not enough updates'.

These tanks have wheels, you can shoot out the wheels and M203 the tank. It's not a big tank, but it can knock trees down and smash other vehicles. -

Hello, I am starting a small dayZ/Arma tactical realism squad, this is going to be a small squad of a max of 8 players. I already have two or three friends who play but I am not counting them. To start I will start with the name what the name means is *Special Forces Operational Detachment- DayZ Vigilantes* To start I will tell you what the goal of this squad is (If you have not already figured out because of the name) We are not bandits, we only kill for two reasons 1. Yourself or one of the squad members are threatend or 2. We see a bandit. So if you are the type of person who camps stary or the NWA just to rack up kills with an AS50 then do not bother applying. The goal of SFOD-DV is to build large camps/bases and hoard supplies, vehicles, and weapons. We will be trying to make whatever dayZ map we are playing on a better place for everybody except bandits, hence the name DayZ Vigilantes. Here are some requirments: Requirements: 1. You must be 16 years old and mature! No exceptions sorry kids, but this is a mature squad. 2. You must play or have the ability to play tacticaly. By this I mean handiling situations such as an ambush or bandit ecounter professionally and logically. I have played with a kids before where when they start getting shot to hell in the middle of an open field all they did was lie down, roll and say repeatedly "I'm about to get fucked". Instead of running for the nearest tactical cover or nole, and calling direction of heat for people who were not getting shot at to lay down suppressive fire on the hostiles. 3. You have to be able to stick to your role (I will cover roles later) Ex. If you are the packmule you cant be doing risky buisness because you may die with a large majority of our food and water. 4. You have to be able to play slow and carefully. By this I mean the squad does not sprint from town to town just to loot as fast as possible and we always have snipers covering and scouting towns before the rest of the squad goes in, we don't just run in as if we have a death wish We scout and prep and get shooters and medics in position first. 5. You must have a basic understanding of dayZ you do not have to have been playing for a certain amount of time. Just know what you are doing. 6. Must have a skype and speak english. 7. Must be able to have fun, and joke to some extent. After all this is only a game. Now I will explain the roles. Roles: Expendable x1: This is not the safest role, but a very very important one, to do this role I suggest a good computer because stuff happens fast and you may need to do some quick spotting. You should also be a quick thinker and smart. Your jobs consist of taking point while traveling and drawing fire. If we need a flanker you may also be chosen for that aswell. You may also be navigating. Rifleman x2: We currently only need 2 basic rifleman, this role will carry somthing such as a M4a3 SOPMOD or Other assault rifle. This role will be going in on loot runs and doing medium-close range engagments. Machine Gunner x1: We currently only need one this role will cary a light machine gun and travel in the back of the squad to give suppressing and pinn people up for flanking you may also act as a Rifleman in cases. Marksman x1: This role is tough you have to be good at what you do, which is snipe. You will be giving overwatch on towns and taking on long range engagments. You have to understand mil dots and be accurate ranges up to and beyond 1000 meters. Packmule/Spotter x1: This person always gets the biggest backpack first. He carries extra food and drink as well and vehicle parts and other guns. He also has the job of being a spotter for the sniper and ranging for him as well as calling his shots. You will ideally be carrying a acog weapon. Medic x1: We need 1 medic, this is a quite safe job because you will be hanging out with the machine gunner a little behind the battle. but strategically and quickly moving ahead if things go south. You will be carrying blood bags, epi-pens, extra bandages and extra morphine. I know this is starting to become a big squad, but I know not all people will be on always when some people want to play, so I want to make sure there is always a few people on for people to play with. Your in the same boat as me. Gaming has become very stale for me so far this year, BF3 has become old, I hate the CoD series, Metro is good for looking at but the AI.. Yeah, I just bought Rising Sun, it looks good and I love WWII games so I hope its worth it. I'm finished with the DayZ mod. I have high end gear on my main server but it hit rock bottom in terms of fun the other day. Even though I was looking for a fight, looking for someone to shoot at me.. I had no luck. People just hoard gear and sit in their camps, or in treelines above towns. No one goes looting or looking for vehicles or helicopters. My theory with DayZ though is to be aggresive. Especially in a fight, people don't like you getting all up in their face.. Mainly because everyone is a sniper. But I have way more fun strolling through the open at NWAF, rather than taking 1 hour to check everywhere only to find crappy loot. Just go for it! -

I agree that my favourite part is when you just spawn in and have more or less nothing. Trying to scavenge and survive is why I played DayZ. I'm more or less waiting for the SA now, and play Wasteland for my Arma II fix as I dislike the way most people play DayZ. Well, they play it like Wasteland just a bit more cautious as you can't find weapon caches or stumble upon vehicles everywhere haha. When I used to play I would be very timid and nervous and unless in a group I wouldn't normally approach a player I spotted. Just kept to myself and tried to get by. i know a lot of people would consider that boring, but hey it's how I roll. -
I'm just going to hand pick a few things that i really like and I few that i'm a bit concerned about. Please feel free to discuss as i would like the community thoughts too. * [NEW] - Clear Ground around loot at crash sites added but disabled by default, server admins can enable. Adds a small circle around each loot pile http://i.imgur.com/uVDfGym.jpg this is cool i especially like the fact you can toggle it on and off, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, its great if you find a chopper crash do a quick drive round and see if its worth you getting out of the car to take a closer look, however part of the risk of chopper crashes is that you have to stop get out and search to see if theres anything good. I'm on the fence about it really. * [NEW] - Vehicles and tents now report free gear slots. Example: Old Camping Tent (weapons/others/backpacks). http://ziellos2k.net...17141327522.png Awesome there are no negatives for this point its just brilliant * [NEW] - Weapons spawns now have a chance to spawn with 0 mags up to a max of 2. This is good again however is it the same at chopper crash sites i would like to see a 1-3 mag spawn at CC's finding fals with no ammo sucks balls * [NEW] - New starting gear added. Guaranteed Start Items: ("ItemBandage","HandRoadFlare") + 1 RandomStartItem: ("ItemBandage","ItemPainkiller"). Items required = 1 sandbog for small, 2 sandbags for medium) this is great they are pretty well balanced i've been waiting for ages for something like this to be implemented * [NEW] - Zeds can now tackle players to the ground when attacked. Meh not a fan i remember playing when they had a chance to knock you down if they hit you from behind and it was annoying as hell, however it will make Z's more of a risk * [NEW] - Blood from food and transfusions will now generate over time (no longer instant). * [NEW] - Bloodbags will no longer transfer 12000 blood instantly, it's now done over 12 seconds (1000 blood per second). If the medic breaks away from the transfusion animation or the recipient moves out of range, the transfer stops and the remaining amount is lost along with the bloodbag in use. This is a really nice addition will be a risk now giving a blood transfusion in the middle of a gun fight if you have to stay with the person you are treating * [NEW] - All food types now have a diminishing effect so the more you try and eat at once, the less blood you will get in return. Again nice addition, saves spamming food once you've been shot * [uPDATED] - Mac and 1911 Pistol dmg updated. Hope this is a buff i presume it is which is good. * [uPDATED] - HMMWV Cargo updated. (10 weapons, 50 slots and 2 backpack) * [uPDATED] - AH6 & MH6 Cargo updated. *GUIDE #2* What You Need To Head North! (list / description of items)

Hi. I have 2 guides on this topic. Check out the first one here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/138208-guide-what-you-need-to-head-north-list-description-of-items/ Each guide has its own advantages and disadvantages. The first guide had the advantage of the fact that you didn't have to stop at Stary Sobor, one of the most dangerous cities in the game. This guide, although you have to go to Stary Sobor, is a lot quicker and not as tedious. Why go up north? First, the north is home to many places, such as Stary Sobor, various castles, and 2 airfields. All of the best gear can be found up north. You can also find a lot more vehicles in the north. The north is also home to mysterious helicopter crash sights. To sum it up, the north has a lot of points of interests, better gear, and brings the best memories. Ok. Here is the 2nd guide. Be sure to check out the first one later when you get a chance! 1. A Hatchet! A hatchet is all you need for defense. If you do find another gun, you have a choice of taking it or leaving it. It is nice to have, but it makes you look like more of a threat. I'd pick it up, but do whatever you think is best. A couple guns that I will tell you NOT to pick up is the doubled barrel shotgun and the x-bow. Also, don't use crowbars... they aren't nearly as powerful as a hatchet. If you run into a secondary weapon, pick it up. 2. Some food and water If you want, you can maybe go with only 1 drink, though i recommend 2 or more. Water bottles are real useful, as you can refill them. As for food, you probably only need 1-2 as well. The good thing about food and water is that theres never really so much thing as too much food or water. 3. Navigational Supplies If you are on a server where you can set waypoints on your map, then one map is all you need. A compass is also recommended. To set a waypoint, hold shift and left click where you want it to be. A waypoint will then appear on your screen. If you can't find a map, use an online map. 4. *OPTIONAL* Medical Supplies In my attitude, if medical supplies are close by (Elektrozavadosk), go for them. If they are sort of out of the way(Chernogorsk), don't go with them. The most you need is a couple bandages, but its also really nice to have other medical supplies just incase you need them. Theres nothing worse then breaking your leg somehow in a forest and having to crawl your way to a hospital. Ok You have everything you need. Find Stary Sobor on your map, set a waypoint if you can, or just follow the roads until you get there. 25 Minutes Later... 5. Once you are at Stary Sobor... Ok. So after a long walk, you made it to Stary! First, try to approach from the North West. How? Walk around Stary. Once you are in the north west, you'll see the super market. Run to it as fast as you can. Before looting it, make sure that theres nobody in there. Get some cans of food and some drinks, and maybe a bigger backpack. Finally, once you are done with that, you can try going to the military tents. On your way there, hug the buildings so you have cover from any bandits. Also, if you run into the long cow shed, go into it. You can look out the windows, and it provides great cover. You may also find a weapon there if you are lucky. When you go to the military tents, try to be as fast as possible. Stary Sobor is a great pitstop, and it's full of great supplies, but don't overstayed your welcome. When you decide its time to leave, simply run. I'd recommend going back north west, or wherever is closest. There you go! You have just looted Stary Sobor, and you are on your way to another cool place. Check out the North West airfield, Devils Castle, and take a little visit at Berezino if you want. Thanks for Reading!
