Welcome to Torchwood. A Day/Night Server in the post-apocalyptic Chernarus. We have over 100 vehicles, increased helicopter crashes and infected camps. Custom Buildings spread throughout the map a better playing style in the game. We have clear roads to improve server performance as well as other adjustments to greatly reduce server lag so all of our players can have a wonderful playing experience. Extra Buildings Rollbacks available in case of any destruction caused by hackers. We would much rather rollback a hour or more instead of having the server destroyed. We will do our best to make sure anyone that was on during the rollback gets their gear back. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Note about admins: We play the game how everyone else does regardless of our powers, We are active targets if you want to hunt us down and kill us you can. Hi. I'm sorry if I am bringing up an age old DAYZ question here, but is it worth going up to Green Mountain? I've been reading up on places to visit etc, and this one took my fancy. Plus I'm only a 10-15 minute run from there. But I've heard and seen a few stories about the place that worries me a little. E.g - Some sort of ghost up there that kills you, and other weird goings on. No doubt a lot of bandits/teams visit the place regularly? So, my question as long as it was is....Green Mountain worth a dabble for the loot and chance of vehicles you can get? Thanks.

:beans: :beans: We are a new server looking for players. Are admins are nice and helpful and all admins are over the age of 18. Starting loadout is bandage, map, hatchet, flashlight. We have an event the admins hold like random tent find where we put a tent somewhere on the map with loot in it and we tell everyone the cords the first 1 who finds it gets the loot. I read somewhere the information of the server isn't going to update to your character unless it is relevant for it. ESP hacks feed from the server-clients packages of information received, decoding them and tracking tents/vehicles/players/everything even 10km from you. This won't happen in the SA, because if this information is not downloaded on your computer, there's literally no way you can hack it. Unless for short range :( wallhack as in counter strike is going to be a problem. But hell, it is already now, and much worse. Cutting off the 90% of the ESP problem is a win imo. And you talk shit about VAC, but correct me if im wrong, there's no good and efective way to stop cheaters from wallhack, autoaim and all this crap. Every fps have it. So it isn't like they have made a bad choice.

We are back in business, now with a slightly customized map (interesting scenery, a train crash in cherno for example), added loot /bunkers/ dear stands and vehicles are CUSTOM spawned via map editor accurately in 3d to give an authentic dayz feel (items spawned behind, under furniture and vehicles hidden in ally-ways and behind houses!

Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits

Well I don't know about the rest of you, and this may just be because I don't really care if I lose my gear or I'm just crazy, but when a bandit successfully "holds me up" I don't log out or make a reckless move on them, I'm curious to see where they go with it. If they do end up killing me or leaving me for dead, I just respawn and move on as I would have anyways, but you can come out of it with more gear, a new friend, or at least a good story to tell. There was one instance on Lingor Island where I was just coming out of a military compound, and a guy on the nearby hill shot my leg and I was left laying there in the middle of the road. I see over side someone instructing me I have 10 seconds to bandage and drop all my weapons including hatchet on the road and roll away from them. I see someone walking down the hill clearing the zeds coming after me. He gives me morphine and blood and checks my bag for supplies. After stuffing the M24 I found in his bag, he tells me to walk down the road in front of him and not do anything stupid. We come up to a higher value military compound. After he clears the zeds he tells me he has a buddy overwatching the area on the hill across the river, and I can see a figure Q-E'ing across the way. He then puts a hatche in my bag and tells me I'm going to loot cycle for him, where to stand, what to do, and what to look for. He then leaves me to transport some gear or something, maybe get another hostage. About 20-30 minutes later, and a couple kills added to his sniper buddy's belt, he comes back with a vehicle. He has me holster the hatchet, checks my bag for any guns, then has me help load up the vehicle with the guns he wanted. Once that is done, he has me get in the back. We pick up his friend on the hill, then drive off. We come up to a secluded area and I fear this is the end. However, he was actually taking me to a hidden blue GAZ. They tell me to get out of the car and stand in between the two vehicles while one checked the gear and the other my bag. One I hear the all clear, they tell me the GAZ is mine and has an AK Kobra and a DMR in it, along with some other basic supplies. They then drive off and I didn't see them again, at least as far as I know. Sure I could've made a move on him when I still had the M24, but I had never fired one at that point, didn't know where he was, was bleeding and couldn't move, I knew I would die if I tried, so why not see where things go. Even if they did end up bring me to a ditch to put me down in, I still wouldn't have regretted staying. -

I feel your pain about spending ages building up gear and then lose it all to a glitch :-/ unfortunately I can't help with the glitches! Tents are saving gear ok and vehicles also saving inventory ok! Get yourself a tent and find somewhere good to hide it so you can go back and re loot when the inevitable happens. Hope your enjoying the server and see you back on there soon. -
Great Server, been playing on it for awhile now. Admins are usually on, good community build up, and there was a recent server reset with all the vehicles back to their original places. Traffic has steadily gone up, I hope to see it thrive again!

To lighten the questions of script restrictions you may have, no, it is simply Battle-Eye bugged in DayZ's code. Past possibilities that cause strict restrictions, since nobody knows what in the hell they even are to represent, are: Putting on a Camo, or changing into the Bandit skin. Manipulating vehicles (e.g Driving and/or checking the inventory). Accessing the Server Control of the server. (Derp) ...and possibly more if you decide to try and break the game.

See, I think thats Rockets biggest problem with the standalone. Kind of feels like hes still flirting with different areas of what stage in development to go into public alpha, leave it much longer and he'll have lost some followers due to natural attrition, release to early with too thin content and he'll lose more due to lack of depth, the 'first alpha minus vehicles' statement recently for example will be a huge turn off for the not so dedicated. If that happens, the apparent interest from Sony etc will fade (I can't believe hes made a public comment about that already, very foolish) along with the casual gamers wandering to the next 'GTA:Mass Assassins Call of HaloField 4'. Simply put, the public has a 'now gimme gimme' attitude and hes taking to long. We also can't deny that the overly-common 'Private Gankfest DM server DayZ' hasn't attracted and catered for a lot of players that simply aren't into survival Dayz. And the figures that seem to be boggling Rocket right now are made up of a huge number of those players, the data hes getting from right now from the mod is miles away from the game hes making, the mods mutated to something that stands a long way apart from the original and due to that does not reflect the games hes trying to make.

[iNS].is a group of Australian/Kiwi's who enjoy having a good time and a laugh in game. The server is fairly new with custom vehicle spawns, a custom spawn loadout to help you get going and soon to have donor loadouts (still working on that so check back later). The server is hosted in the US but still provides smooth gameplay for oceanic players, as our community grows, we will hopefully play host to other groups who want to make the server their home and generally all the more fun. Our clan TS3 channel is available to anyone on the server and encouraged. There was recently a filter that was kicking people for accessing the 'gear' of vehicles. Sounds like you're a victim of this, nothing more. I wouldn't sweat it--once the server updates their filters they should be fine. Else, find another server. Things like this happen often enough, all we can do as admin is keep our eyes out for patterns and edit filters as need be. Prost!

J-Dub, don't worry, i don't care if you play the stand alone or not. Yay! lets play a game with Vehicles around every corner, and spawn with a full load out! AS-50 Thermal, Ghillie, NV's. Because i know for damn sure that if the Apocalypse did happen there would be all of those weapons within 100 miles of where i live... I wish i could go back in time and birth slap you. Hello there OP I understand your point and indeed the SA may not be the game for you. But for many others it will be a *hardcore* survivalist game for those that don't want full load outs and 200+ vehicles. The mod will continue and will likely copy stuff from the SA and will continue to cater for those who want a more casual experience and shades of grey in between. Lets see how Rocket pushes the game in development and then lets decide whether its a damp squib or not.. Rgds LoK

Hello everyone, Over the past few months, I have been closely watching twitter updates, devblogs and just stuff about standalone posted by rocket in general. Rocket has the idea that everyone is into scarce starting loadouts and low vehicle spawn rates, which I have nothing against, BUT, this also means there will be no private hive dayz servers which I am extremely unhappy about. If this is to happen, I probably will not buy SA and stick with the mod - where it all started. I am quiet honestly confused with rocket's decisions as they will impact the future of his career. Because if he messes Dayz Standalone up, who is going to actually want to be in associated with him? Yeah - give him a chance, but this game is highly anticipated and if OP does not deliver, all hell goes loose. This will probably get deleted, but I am entitled to make my own suggestion about how standalone should run. Yeah - standalone will be good, but will it rise above the mod? Or will it turn into a lame warz like game. Rocket, if you read this on MT Everest, please understand that by not appealing to more "Casual" users, you are missing out on a big audience which will make dayz the game of the year. Edit: Please excuse me if you thought I was the kind of guy that likes starting with a mp5sd with steak and walking around corners finding vehicles, no. I like having barely any vehicles on my server, and higher zombie spawn rates. What I don't like is going on to public servers and having fuckhead scream on side channel and just camp spawn, which will still be a issue in SA. Trust me, the first thing you will hear when you first logon to standalone, is prebs shouting the their microphones and camping spawns... This will always be a issue, unless rules are put in place, and since their will be no private hives at first, we will have to deal with prebs. That's why disable side channel and have teamspeak so I can monitor it much easier. Dayz would be nothing without custom maps, on youtube over 50% of videos are taken on custom maps, so are live streams, and rocket has already said that community made maps will not be avaible as they can open holes to hackers, but isn't battleeye and VAC getting upgraded and put in? Regardless, I see his concerns, but it's just another reason for no private hive servers, done deal. Thanks for reading, Josh

What populates a DayZ server?

the same logic applies to every game server, i've been through this multiple times, and it all comes down to one simple rule: to populate a server, it needs to have an initial amount of players in it. noone will join an empty server if there are so many more packed with players. one common technic is to have multiple players idle, it might work, but unless the server fills up fast, it's not gonna work that way, since there is no action going on. also, usually you don't have enough folks at hand, willing to play on your server only, at any given time of the day. you need to attract foreign players, and there is only one possible way to do that, you need to offer something that is rare or not yet available. once you have your idea, build your community around that. see the private hive section for examples - some offer assloads of vehicles, others offer custom loadout or special loot tables. but you will need a bit more then just mixing up gameplay elements, you need something unique to really stand out from the crowd. but if you can achieve that, players will eventually become regular players and if you have enough of those your server population will basically maintain itself. like the server Grain mentioned, 3rd person OFF alone is so rare these days, that it's actually a good way to attract hardcore players. (and btw, check it out, it really is the best possible dayzmod server to play on these days. period) granted, BMRF has more ressources to do stuff, they add custom buildings on the map and add additional mods to enhence gameplay experience (sound mods, etc) running a game server is hard business, competition is brutal. if you really want to get into that, be warned. you'll definetly need alot of motivation and patience. -
I always thought the hide & hope base system of this game just plenty sucks. First of all, I would like players to lose their tents and vehicles 'on track', this means, while they're online. Not because they're busy with RL. I actually find more realistic if your base logs out with you, because what is really unrealistic is that your base is abandoned 21 hours a day. However, when you are online, your tents/vehicles are not longer 'yours', but free for everyone finding them (and therebefore, be able to take them). So you and your group better leave someone behind for watching and defencing purposes. Also this will need some sort of officially recognized group system, as if 4-5 players have a group, if only 1 of them logs in, tents and vehicles also does. Not having to wait for the unique owner of the base to be online.
