I've been working on this today and figgured I'd post my progress. The goal is to create a map that all the members of a clan can log in to (via password and server name) and it will be a consolidated tool the clan can use in real time. Currently: Can zoom and move map. Can place pins. Movable tools (top bar lets you drag them). Can connect with friends online and edit a map together. when not online you can save pins and should be able to load them after restarting the program. Goals: delete pins. Add more placeable icons (camping tent, chopper crash site, vehicles). Better Resolution map (use vector mapping). Display gps coords when hovering over a pin. Better Network Support (passwords, whitelist icon placers, etc). Android Support (would require unity pro). ability to save network map. You're talking about individual features like vehicles now? It's alpha. As stated above, they're trying to get rid of some game breaking bugs. Fuck vehicles. They're the last thing on my mind for an alpha release. You have gone from being critical about the release to being critical about the game itself. No one is forcing you to stay if you really don't like it and have no faith in it. What is the point you're trying to make? That the game is going to suck and that the development team is incompetent? Fine. Everyone is quite excited that you feel that way. -

They already totally cut out vehicles from the initial release as currently it looks half ass. There is no proper physics model to deal with it... -
I've been on this server the past week playing and enjoying it, until I came across the admins on North East Airfield. It started off with both of them putting many rounds into my SUV trying to kill me, my two friends jumped to action and quickly intervened and my friends shot them both. during the process of looting the corpses, we found TONS of gold, and pretty much all tools, as well as the top weapons and gear. Fair enough... Not minutes later, we hear shots again, then some aggro. we followed and shot the person, it was one of the admins my friends had killed not two minutes ago, a minute or two after that, more shots, we know it was Razor, as Axeman would of been reviving himself once again. We decided to leave because the admins were obviously abusing their power. We went to Klen to repair our vehicles, sell some items and buy new stuff such as a new vault. Being close to the airfield where all this just happened, we heard a Jet, as clear as a bell, but I guess, the admins would suck at shooting us in that, so they decided to spawn a Biplane, and fly it into our 3 SUV's because they got the asses kicked off of them. the person in the Biplane was Axeman, we know because he got kicked for ejecting, and while doing so, they broke a rule they have on the server. "No killing at trade points" I'd suggest trying another server, you'll only regret spending time on it, getting geared and every thing else, to end up falling victim to these two idiotic, scumbag admins.

Spawned near Balota, when scavenging there I got killed by a few well armed guys... Next spawn, also near Balota. I run back to see if they are still there. Two of the well armed players are standing next to their military offroad vehicle with their *** in their hands.. I dunno.. I just run around the corner, jump in their car and drive off.. Hilarious right? General chat was suddenly filled with: You have a hackers car, it must be destroyed.. So I replied, sure, i'll drive it off a cliff. Then the guy said: I had to return it where I took it... So I thought, BS, you just want your car back... It was a damaged common car with less then half a tank full of gas. Wouldn't a hacker have it filled up I asked... So, a few minutes later, after driving over some bandits, I get kicked with the message: I told you you should give it back.. This server is adminned by tards... Stay away from it unless you can kiss some serious ass in German.. DayZ German Hometown [More vehicles][More weapons][but not for you] -

Server is great. Expect to have a great time as this is one of the best Namalsk servers out there. The only problem with this server is an admin named Yami. He plays favorites with a group of derp faces he plays with and advocates his group hacking. I've seen him spawn vehicles in for his buddies so watch out for this scummy sack of trash. Other than this guy, other admins are fair and just. Just a note, Yami only plays when other admins aren't on so that he can spawn in jets and gauss rifles for his friends (one of which I'm pretty sure has downs syndrome COL.Flaggot or something) -

All private hive vehicles (former Bliss) are supported. With unknown vehicles you may experience some problem with vehicle damageable parts. Teleport. There is less and less teleport thanks to the anti-teleport background task on clientside. Former obvious solutions were using setpos command, or attaching your own body to a (far) remote object. Using 'drag body' for example. This can't be done as easily. However, there is still a weakness with the debug area. BE filters can't be an efficient solution to detect that. Your only hope is using scripts.txt, but it's a clientside filter so it can be bypassed. Current filter logs unexpected use of setpos and attachto. Don't expect miracles. Preset Gear. scripts.txt logs unexpected use of addweaponcargo and addmagazinecargo, and players can be kicked. However, this can be bypassed too. If the pattern is always the same, you can detect it in hiveext.log. The Character ID is logged with the pattern. You can match this Character ID (CID) with arma2oaserver.RPT log file. Lines with "LOGIN PUBLISHING" log player's CID UID and name. -
I have played DayZ Arma2 for about a month now and I have mixed feelings about the game, tried various servers with unique setups and scripts, bagged my share of kills, had some fun combat expierence, sniped lots of bambis and played long enough for a review of this game The whole concept of DayZ is amazing but there are endless problems/bugs with setup and gameplay and I wont list them all, just the most crucial physics bugs that need fixes for final release.(Viewed latest standalone demo videos) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basic Character Control/Movement The limitations of character movement in DayZ are uncreative and bugged. No Ability to Climb or Jump: Not talking about a mountain here ;) , only being able to climb over 3 foot rock or ontop of a crate or a vehicle or a roof of low building (expands on tactical advantages and escaping from zombies) Cant expect move parkour style through city but the complete lack of being able to jump over and climb small simple barriers is pathetic right? Jumping out of windows & Fall landing phsyics: There should be funtion to escape out of windows (same function should let zombies crawl into windows), if you are on ground level, trapped and need fast escape route why not smash window and jump out. Also the fall phsyics are bugged, once a 4 foot drop killed my character put him in coma haha, when drop any small distance it freezes your character controls for about 5-8 seconds (very buggy) Fast Stealthy Melee Attacks The biggest problem in DayZ is melee combat, there is no hotkey function to grab a crowbar or axe when you need it quick (have drop gun and cycle through broken inventory) there needs to be a quick equip funtion for melee weapons that wont interfere with primary weapon or pistol. Buildings/Walls/Doors/Stairs The physics of buildings in DayZ are just bugged and sometimes broken. Ghost Walls or Noclip Walls : Many buildings/walls/fences/rocks in game do nothing stop zombies from phasing through solid barrier and sometimes I have watched players exploit these same broken physics (for game that promotes realism this is serious problem) Broken Door Frames: constantly getting stuck in doorways even when moving directly in center away from edges Closing Doors - Locking Doors: Doors made out of wood should be destructable, serve as barriers for protection or to buy some time for an escape from zombies, If you can knock over trees, signs, gates, small walls with vehicles why not be able destroy door with axe or machine gun? Stairways: moving on stairs causes complete crawl in movement speed and turning, also same problem as doors end up stuck on corners Vehicles (Excluding boats and aircraft) The handling of cars/jeeps/trucks in game are not responsive in control both on main paved roads and offroad terrain, amazingly you can move much faster with a bicycle uphill, across an open field than using a 4Wheel Drive Military Jeep which does not add up. It seems all Vehicles on wheels share same physics control on terrain, there needs to be seperate classes of control physics when choosing types of Urban vehicles and Offroad vehicles. The Spawn Points and Item Spawn Points Starting out in this game always get stuck spawning up and down Eastern border coast and this just results in mass Spawn-Killing, since new players always spawn out in same spots (or next to Cherno or Elektro) veteran players abuse this on every server basicly as camping spots for a turkey shoot, new player spawnpoints should spread out more across Chernarus map not just along Coast. The Item/Weapon Spawn points have exact same problem as stated above, veteran players permanently camp only weapon spawn points that are Military or Advanced Gear, so new player can never get hands on better items and are are always slaughtered unless server setup gives you a rifle to start with. There needs to be more random % of chance in locations of weapons/gear so new players can gain items and vet players will not be able to completely abuse spawn point drops. I wont list anything for zombies since devs already mentioned they are overhauling zombie scripts and animations. Okay these are the biggest problems with DayZ game from my expierence playing, clash of good and bad elements making this game unique but very rough around edges (especialy with character control) The core game physics in DayZ need serious overhaul before the final release because the current problems/bugs kinda ruin your overall expierence. Something you don't seem to understand about doing an SA over a mod is that with SA, the developers end up owning their IP straight up. You can't really sell a CoD:BO mod to EA even if it was the most popular mod ever made. This is because it would be useless for EA to be reliant on it's competitor. Creating SA means if the game works out well enough, they could get investors in which means more help in development which in turn means a shorter development cycle as well as a better game (though at a higher price). The other thing you need to realize is that building SA, rather than migrating the mod to ArmA 3 means they're not a slave to the problems of the host game (just the basic engine which they can fix). Might I also point out that for almost 10 years Counter Strike was the top FPS in the world. Were there newer, prettier, more realistic games? Sure but that doesn't mean it translates into fun. Who cares about a game with more textures and polygons? If you want eye candy there are a TON of games out there. If you want a game that's complex, immersible, and won't get you burned out in a month or two, then you're probably better off sacrificing pretty for gameplay. I haven't played DayZ yet but I watch this everyday because I'm tired of these shooters out there that have a ton of weapons and that look pretty, but are dumbed down to where my dog could play them. I don't just want some extra movement mechanics like sliding, rolling, or fence jumping, but rather the ability to build stuff (buildings, weapons, vehicles), fix stuff, and interact in an almost RPG/FPS sandbox.

Don't compare Wasteland to DayZ. It fit's perfectly well in Wasteland because you have the 2 teams OPFOR and BLUFOR and the independats who can also create their own groups. Having a main base for your team to work out of is great because you are gathering Armored vehicles, tanks and choppers. Still i would love to have a hatch that leads to my own "swan station" in DayZ. A game that is about gathering as much as it is about surviving your back pack is going to run out of space sooner or later and having a booby trapped underground base would be awesome to store some of those items. And off course grow some hydroponics and trade/sell that on a street corner in Cherno. -

Wasteland would be a pointless mod if there was no base building. Personally, I hate bases on DayZ, the whole Origins thing looks cool, but seems a waste of time IMO. I've always been more of nomad, just always on the move, no where is home. As for Wasteland though making a base is brilliant and really does bring out the creative and even somewhat strategic side of people. I get a kick out of having a group of us with a base, hoarding vehicles and weapons, shouting "Come and have a go if you think your hard enough". I've built 100's of bases in Wasteland and it never gets boring. A lot of people just plant a base anywhere but I enjoy really looking for places that have somewhat of an advantage and then building a base there. Example I once built a base on a flat plain next to NWAF, no hills overlooking it, no elevation. I had two depots next to each other, two small camps on the corners, and then long tall walls stacked on each other to give us double high walls. No one could get near us, it was brilliant, and the admins even took it as a template and used it as their AI base. I still enjoy getting a vehicle, throwing weapon boxes in there, and just go tearing people up, which I found is more entertaining in ArmA 3. -

Look no further. If you're new to the game or an experience played it doesnt matter - you will absolutely love this server. UMBRELLA CORPORATION 300+ VEHICLES SERVER. It has the perfect amount of vehicle spawns (not easy to find one, but you also wont have to run around for hours either) including a few helicopters (which make for awesome player to player encounters. Its epic). The weapon spawns are higher than normal but you're not going to play for 20min and find 10 DMRs in every building you check. Its a perfect balance of all aspects of the game. Not the normal annoying ass players you find in most server too. This one is filled with nothing but cool, chill guys (even the bandits). Note - this IS NOT my server. I just play on it and am spreading the word because the only thing we are missing right now is a few extra players to help keep things interesting. Base building - Why is it so important to everyone?

I personally think that not the base-building as a single feature is important, but to add content to the game itself. I personally played this game for over a year with serveral breaks, because I always came to the point, where I was asking myself: "What the hell should I do?". I had serveral vehicles, I repaired a Helicopter...What now? I am a friendly person and not interessted in player-hunting, but what is there left to do? I know that you need to be creative and "Write your own story", but to be honest, I am to buisy with my real life to start some big medic thing or tie myself to other ingame social activities that involve beeing there at specific dates. And the more experienced you are with the game the shorter the time is until you reach this point again. So all in all the base building is a pretty logical way of allowing players to do something useful with their clan and adding some kind of roleplaying environment. We need much more content in the game that can be worked on by geared-up players. Including: bases repairing infrastructure repairing powerplants, Radio towers A super-duper dangerous military facility only scavengable by multiple players. etc. -

Heh. I remember a time when me and my friends found this guy on the coast and picked him up with our Huey we trolled him and brought him to the farthest island in Taviana origins that had no vehicles on it and told him we set up base there and told him over the hill theres some ammo for his Ak-47 after we lifted him up and ditched him he aimed and fired his Ak and took out the tail rotor and our group of 4 died.

I have a question I'm probably in the wrong topic but how would I increase the vehicles spawn limit?

I asked this on the DayZCC forum but no one's answered it there, so I figured I'd try here. In the Overview page, there's the option to "Spawn vehicles". I know this respawns any destroyed vehicles and I think it also respawns vehicles that haven't been touched in X number of days. Does anyone know how many days a vehicle has to be untouched to be respawned or if that's even the way it works? My host tells me it respawns all destroyed and broken vehicles, but I know that's not the case, as there are plenty of broken vehicles on my server, and they weren't respawned when I used that.
