Hello! I've decided to set up a clan called Lone Wolves! We will be playing on all modded Dayz which peoplefind interesting. We are looking for maturered gamers that come on quite frequent. We mostly play on Dayz Epoch and play on a server called ForsakenDayz which has Ai patrols, Wasteland style missions, light armoured vehicles and many more! If your interested in joining come on our teamspeak which is 98.21.177.30 and look our for Hazard or contact me on my steam which is starkillerz121. We also have a base on the Forsaken server with key coded gates and is very well protected "http://imgur.com/KDqUXgL". So i hope to hear from you! :D Hazard

Yeah, I doubt the vehicles in SA will have PhysX support like in Arma 3... Which means like every vehicle in Arma 2, there will be random explosions, crashes, broken bones and more... Unless the team pulls a miracle

Hi, We have gained Official Epoch server status, one of the conditions of which is no major mods. So for now we will be sticking with just some extra buildings. The server has day/night with full moon nights, and 600+ vehicles, When you come on you need to speak to me or steve and we can sort your safe out. :) -

Neither is an M24 in Russian Chernarus, or all the other American Vehicles/Guns. And unlimited fuel for fuel tanks. Just for the sake of it, Anti-Material weapons should be re-added. My opinion. -
Looking for a couple of people to play DayZ Origins with.

The Server Count is Too Damn High!
Skat3rat replied to Beck (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To a certain level of degree I still play vanilla dayz but there are still a lot of differences. The server I play on has a few extra weapons added to it, some extra buildings and plugins, and bambis spawn with revolvers like they did when DayZ first came out. I've tried playing some of the other DayZ mods like Origins and Breaking Point but something just doesn't feel right about them. Namalsk is the only other DayZ map that I've played a lot on and I think the reason why, is because of how hard it is to survive on it. I know a lot of people though who have grown bored of vanilla DayZ and moved on to other DayZ mods. To be honest, I can't blame them. The vanilla mod only offers so much stuff. As discussed way to much, once you get basic gear, a camp, vehicles, and maybe a chopper, there is nothing left to do unless you like to KoS. Mods of DayZ seem to give players more to do than what vanilla has to offer and I think that is why many players have moved over to these mods. -

"Loot" your own home for an initial outfit and supplies for the zombie apocalypse
boxman80 replied to YukonCornelius's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Ok here's what I think i'd be able to get my hands on the first morning of problems based on equipment, tools and vehicles in my home; So it's day 1 of the world turning to shit! My first instinct would be to protect my family and head to somewhere safe. ii dare say id head to the safety of the countryside away fromt eh rotting corpses, disease and other people. Id probably be heading for some where remote and high up - possibly the moors of Cumbria or north Yorkshire, or further afield as the Scottish highlands. So with that in mind here's what I would grab on day 1 for my journey; (Sorry no pix yet!!!) BAGGAGE 1 x large black hold all. 1 x small under-Armour draw string bag + a couple of hand luggage bags that my mrs and kids would need (here on out though ill base the rest on my equipment!) CLOTHING - British Army issue combat pants (1 spare pair in my holdall). Heavy duty and dark to camouflage me if/when i reach the countryside. - waterproof lightweight leather boots (used for airsoft) . Tough, comfortable and good protection and ankle support. - spare pair of running shoes (in holdall). FOr comfort or when i need to get in and out of somewhere quick! - lightweight dark tshirt sweater (+1 spare in my holdall). Something easy to clean and drys quickly. Dark colours for natural camo. - thick safety goggles - to protect eyes from blood/gore/other shit) - Cowboy Combat Boonie (Ala Blaine from "Predator") to keep the sun and shit off my head - besides, just because the world has turned to shit doesnt mean you cant look cool!! I dont have any helmets or anything like that to protect it properly so its style over substance:(. - Fingerless gloves. Again from airsoft with some added protection for my hands from close encounters but still not restricting my fingers when i need them for fiddly jobs. - socks. + lots of spare pairs. Got to look after your feet. - British army issue camo jacket. Used for airsoft but keeps me warm and is very thick and practical. - waterproof wax camo jacket. Heavy duty and expensive waterproof wax jacket that would keep my dry and comfortable in cold wet weather. (would probably have this in the car/bag) - watch. I dont own a fancy or especially durable watch, but it would do for the first few days so i can track time. - Tactical vest. Was made for airsoft but will be very useful for carrying extras i may pick up on my journey as well as adding an extra layer of protection WEAPONS/TOOLS My airsoft weapons would be useless so sack them, they are left behind! - 1 firemans Axe (my father in laws who's an ex fireman! probably my weapon of choice) - 1 x Small crow bar - 1X claw Hammer - 1 large kitchen knife - 1 x small kitchen knife (hidden self defense weapon - zombies arent the only enemy now!) - 1 lock knife - 1 Genuine and real pair of steel lined nun-chucks (i cant use them properly but they are a hell of a good koch!) - 2x slings. i have a 1 point sling and a 3 point sling. they will be sooooo useful later down the line! Longer term id be looking for shotguns probably (id check farmers' and farmers' mums houses!) NOURISHMENT - Anything tinned, mostly beans (!!!), pasta, tuna, corned beef and soup, that sort of thing. - bagged dried food such as pastas and cereals - Water, lots of it. Id fill as many bottles and containers i could find with water and take them. - some sugar and chocolate (emergencies, shock/blood sugar etc) - vinegar (useful for so many things, believe me!!!) - alcohol - what ever was in the fridge (a couple of cans of lager or john smiths) or the wine rack (its never wine, always cheap vodka, whiskey or gin). If the world is going down the toilet I want to have a few good nights before i pop my clogs! Doubt id waste any of this precious commodity on disinfecting wounds, trading or anything like that though! MISC EQUIPMENT - first aid kit (the usual, bandages, plasters, antiseptic cream, pain killers etc) - toothbrush (world has gone to shit, no one to fix me if/when i get painful tooth ache!!!) - tool kit (tool bag with call the usual stuff) - soap (for hygiene and washing clothes - infection will be rife!) - shit roll (enough to get me through a couple of days - dare say I'll need a fair few rolls though it if walking corpses are coming at me from every dark corner!! lol) - lighters (as many as i could find in the house for fires) - candles (again as many as i could find for light) - torches (got a few kicking round the house) - string/rope (what ever i could find in that "spawns" in the shed!) - its always useful for stuff when you dont have it! Plus it might be useful for making snares or something to catch meat (im no hunter though!) - sleeping bags (keep us warm as we sleep) - petrol can for refueling (im sure we've got one in our shed!) - binoculars (for seeing things from afar!) - AA Road atlas 2006, the one without the speed cameras marked on it (everyone has one in the car and not that much should have changed terrain-wise in Britain since 2006 and speed cameras probably arent going to be too much of a problem at this stage :) ) - gaffer tape - useful for taping down extra bits of clothes and lose stuff that might get caught in tight spots where zombies are! Also useful for gagging the mrs when she starts her inevitable nagging. - Pens. Yes i really would make an effort to grab a pen or two. Again, you need them when you dont have them, plus you may need to document/journal or leave messages for other survivors/rescuers. Id be on the look out for camping equipment like gas stoves, collapsible pans and cutlery etc. VEHICLE - our family scenic would have to do. its the bigger of the two and could comfortably fit us all in with equipment as well as being diesel and having better economy (dont want to be having to stop every few miles to fill up while zombies are trying to eat me!!!). Longer term id be looking for a 4x wheel drive with lots of room, maybe a Range Rover or LandRover Discovery but probably some kind of large camper van! -
Anyone interested in making a new DayZ map?
Cap'n (DayZ) replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, I just suggested these three because they're all very unique, even though some of them are unfinished. Moschyni is the best done of them all, and it looks very nice from the ground. It's about 9km long but only 1-2km wide at most, so it's an interesting map. It's got plenty of farms, a load of industrial buildings on the Western side, and a small airstrip and some barracks. Military loot is pretty limited, with only the two barracks and a single firestation. No deerstands or hangars, so most people would be running around farm weapons(Enfields, CZ's, Winchester's). Backpacks would be hard to find, because there are no supermarkets. Just a school in the largest town. You can't put more than 4-5 vehicles on the map because it's so too small to have the same as chernarus. It should also only fit 20-30 players, while anything above 20 still wouldn't be too comfortable. -

Just going to say, the .338 lapua is designed for light armor penetration (kevlar, carrier plate) and to kill human targets, not disable vehicles. And yes, those are different -
input (bamboo stick/wood pile) output (trap hole/trap trench) tools (etool, knife) fail chance 0 enchantment (zombie meat) action type (set trap) quick way to make a barrier for survivor and zombie and animal alike. anybody who fell into them will sustain bleeding and broken legs. can be enhanced with zombie meat for a higher (60%) of infection. best used as an area-denial trap, since you can dig a whole stretch of trenches with it input (none) output (trench) tools (shovel/etool/hatchet/knife) fail chance 0 enchanment none action type (construction) construct trenches for additional protection from firearm and/or setting up defensive position input (wood pile, camouflaging net/tree branches) output (camouflaged area) tools (etool, shovel, hatchet) fail chance 0 enchantment none action type (construction) construct basic camouflaging for defensive position, bases, mortar pit, machine gun nest and/or vehicles.

We have about 3 clans on our server with about 4 to 5 members each, all of them are a little too friendly and need their stockpiles of loot toned down a bit. We also do server events when there is enough players on and need more interested in being on the opposing teams if you catch my drift. See the server info below and you can contact me ingame (JTizzell) for any questions or missions to do for me to gain yourself some gear the fast way. Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62
OfficerRaymond replied to thisisPyro's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just yesterday I took down a Huey using an AKM by shooting the pilot @ 150m. 7.62 is more than adequate to do anything. I would however like to see some 7mm or 30-06 introduced in SA. Sooo sick of hearing the .50 cal groupies come on here and bitch about not being able to take down a chopper or a Humvee with a few shots. You are asking for the game to be forgiving and balanced, when that is the total opposite of what DayZ is and should be. Why the fuck should those guys work hours upon hours to get that Huey working only to be shot down in one fell swoop because a lucky prick that can't even shoot for shit found a .50 caliber anti-material rifle and got a lucky shot on their rotor/engine. This may sound like a counterargument towards the game being unforgiving, but in reality it isn't. The Huey is earned, and your reasoning for having 50 cals re-introduced (easier means of killing vehicles) is ridiculous. If 50 cals EVER are introduced into the MOD (never SA) they should be in some kind of impenetrable place that is almost impossible to get to, and EARNED by hardened players that dedicate their time and effort to acquiring them. -
Your dumbest/embarassing Bandit stories.
Void91 replied to Mephistopheles (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I stumbled across a camp with barriers, tank traps, wire, all of that stuff that screams "I'm friendly!". I spent a good 10 minutes loading all the weapons and ammo into one vehicle to use as my quick get away. I was butchering their tents and other vehicles one by one and laughing the whole time. I killed another survivor who looked like he saw me and was trying to get closer, so I started hurrying up before his buddies started showing up. Got into an offroad truck and it wouldn't start. Soon enough I'm on the ground bleeding out with a giant flame and a smoldering vehicle next to me. I guess I started shooting the wrong vehicle eh? Rage quit right after the death message popped up. Hey there, I've a question regarding the database. I've some objects in object_data like tends and some vehicles but they don't spawn on the server. Does the object_data contain all spawned vehicles on server or are there only some of the spawnable vehicles and object_class decides what to spawn? There's no documentation. :( And also why are tends not spawned anymore (entry is in object_data and timestamp is 1 day old. Character owner does also exist). Any help would be much apreciated.

So I've put plenty of hours into this game so far, with the majority of my play time on core Chernarus DayZ rather than spreading my wings and heading over to different maps. This isn't to say I've not played them, just haven't spent nearly as much time exploring them. Before I begin, I just want to make it clear that everything I say is an opinion and it can't be deemed as right or wrong just what I think would help the Standalone be the game that I think it could be. Saying that, the game I want it to be is far from what I'll describe in this thread. I personally despise how clunkly interactions are in Arma 2 and 3, opening a door should be a mapped key and should be easy to do. This is the same for a lot of interactions such as climbing down a ladder etc... but I'll stop there as I know that there's no chance of that being implemented on the current game's architecture. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Okay so... what I want to start off with is the Z part of the game. Zombies for those struggling with that. The mod too has struggled with this even though it's meant to be a zombie game. Yes they're a part of it but they don't impact on the game like they should do. The pathing has always been a problem but judging by the devblog videos this has been resolved (yay). Now comes the issue of speed. If I died and became a zombie, I would not expect to be able to run like Usain Bolt and jump like the Hulk. What I would expect is to be able to rip and tear the crap out of anything that came remotely close to me. This is where I think the zombies are a let down in a zombie apocalypse game. There's no fear of zombies, just annoyance. They shouldn't be able to open doors, they should start smashing them down. They flat out shouldn't be able to climb. They should quietly huddle in dark corners waiting to surprise their next victim. There should be a way that would hinder the player but would massively decrease the chance of detection. This does not mean crawling as my life is too short to crawl round a town looting. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Moving on, the next topic I'd like to address is possibly the most important. Community. DayZ represents a new style of gaming (or atleast it is the first of its kind that I've come across), survival and interaction in a player versus player open world environment. The mod has become a coastal team deathmatch and it is very rare to stumble into a friendly compadre. Why is this? I believe it's down to both the lack of community and the lack of objective. I'll touch on community first as it doesn't seem as discussed on this forum. I played for around 8 months on a private hive called Wireworld which stuck firmly to the mod's roots. Spawn with nothing etc etc. There was a teamspeak server that 98% of players used and there were lots of groups/teams. What was nice was that there wasn't a time where I'd kill or be killed by someone I hadn't seen before in the player list. I could recognise who the good players were and who the bad players were, I'd also know their usual haunts and it was probably the most entertaining gaming experience I've ever had. Well done Wireworld. Now, the question you may pose may be... well what can the standalone take from this? ... and that's a fair point, unless there are private hives how can a community be put together? Mine and my mate Michael's idea is to be assigned a group of 2/3 servers that you are able to access. You can then invite friends to join your server if there's space or others wanting to swap you would then lose your access to your previous server group. This initial assignment would be done geographically and would pen people in to playing on certain servers forcing a community to be formed. Objective is a strange one, there's always going to be different views on this and it's possibly controversial. When you first start out on DayZ mod, you're overwhelmed by the vast learning curve needed. What gun is good/bad and where to go to find better equipment. This will always have its limitations, there's only so many gun variants possible and this is where I've struggled to retain interest. My solution or additional interest would be base/camp building. This is what would happen in a real life zombie apocalypse so being able to escape pvp and zombies and scavenge the woods for building materials would be amazing. This again would create a community as base/camps would be tied to one server, a player spending time building a house is more likely to stick around on that server getting to know others in the area. There would also be the opportunity to raid that base if you could get past the fortifications. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Vehicles are useful, fact. However, there shouldn't be road blocks. Zombies don't drive. Aircrafts should be available as they are fun, but hard to fix and rare to spawn. Previously the private hive I played on had 1 spawn every 2 weeks. This is a game after all and I want to have fun, not get a disease from the water and get jumped on by a Usain Bolt zombie. Vehicles should be able to be modified, additional armour added would make the car/bus/truck zombie proof but slightly slower and less fuel efficient. Bicycles should be fairly common, real world houses have them why shouldn't DayZ? If you're going for realism after all... _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Map, Chernarus. We've played it and played it and played it. The standalone will need variants for lasting playability. Adding an inland ship is nice and all but it doesn't mean I'll be interested playing the map for years to come. I'd also recommend removing the empty space that is north and west. Make it into an island that you're stranded on. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Apologies for the essay, if you've bothered to read it I hope you enjoyed my splurge of thoughts. Chris. Player name: Fold

I didn't mean the day/night cycle with the shadows cast by the vegetation and buildings i meant the light from torches, fire places or vehicles. If you are in the cone you don't cast a shadow like you should, that's what i meant about it beeing "old", everyone will notice that in some places the light even penetrates entire buildings. It never changed since OFP and actually neither did the day and night cycle because it's besically still the same.

I agree. When DayZ is ported to Altis, I'll be all over that bitch! New guns, vehicles, map... HELLS YES!

'Official Hive' servers with custom buildings, heli lift etc...
shotdownzero posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I use dayz commander to find my servers, and I don't like playing on private hives, I prefer vanilla dayz. However, it seems that official servers are starting to become just like private ones. I have 'hide unofficial' checked in my search filter, however it finds 'official' servers which have 'extra barracks' and 'more lootz' as well as extra vehicles etc; the list goes on. Are these actually connected to the public hive? If so, surely these are exploited daily by people who can't survive in real, pure vanilla dayz? Surely these servers shouldn't be allowed all these custom add-ons if they are going to be public hive? I don't understand how this is possibly fair on players like myself trying to get by the old fashioned way.
