  1. no 'official' means nothing. used to mean public hive, but yesterday i saw someone posted about their 'official' server which was dayz overwatch - not regular dayz - with 12934029354u092 vehicles and 03485703956830456 helicopters... just got to keep trying really dude, since my return to dayz in the last month or two i havent encountered one hacker on a public hive server, which fucking shocked me to say the least considering the state dayz was in with hackers before i took time out (due to lack of internet, wasn't a choice of my own)
  2. If someone could pass this on to the DayZ Standalone Devs I'd greatly appreciate it! They still need to think about how they want to do the Hero / Bandit Status! I guess I was naive that I though the humanity system might work in the DayZ Mod......lol What I've come to figure out is that the DayZ Mod is 95% KOS. About the only time it isn't KOS is when the person you meet doesn't have a weapon, and you do, and you decide not to shoot them. Then when that person does get a weapon, there's a 95% chance they're going to shoot you in the back.....lol And before you ask, yes I have played the DayZ Mod quite a while. 95% of the people I meet attempt to KOS. Since I've started playing......I've only met ONE person who didn't KOS because we outnumbered him 3 to 1, we let him live, only to have him come back and base camp us and KOS later. Our group tried being heros in WarZ too, but that doesn't work either. We ended up being KOS like everyone else in the game. It's always going to be KOS unless something is done to fix it. If you want to KOS, you should go play COD or BF. KOS ruins what this game "should" be. This is a survival game, this is not COD or BF. It's supposed to be groups and individuals: 1. Surviving solo and laying low, maybe hunting individual bandits for loot 2. Forming groups and building communities and securing areas from bandits 3. Bandits preying on 1 and 2 But with KOS, all you get is 3. Lots and lots and lots of KOS 3. Everyone you meet is a bandit, regardless of the skin they wear. There's no depth. There's no unique experience. If you see someone, you MUST shoot them immediately or they will eventually kill you. You can't help anyone. You can't trust new people even if they have a hero skin. There's just looting, and killing whoever you see. It's COD with annoying looting work involved. For those of you that say "that's how it would be in real life, all KOS". No, it wouldn't. I have a fairly sizeable gun collection. If the shit went down (zombies or otherwise), I would NOT be shooting to death every family I saw just so I could grab a few backpacks or cans of beans from them. I might politely ask for some food, or to trade items, but if they said no I'd move on. I would not be out randomly murdering every person I saw. Not everyone is a KOS kiddie. --------------------------------------------------------------- If they implemented at least SOME of the stuff below, it would make the game a much more unique experience. If you see a hero you could be fairly sure they wouldn't just pump bullets into you for your beans. If you see a civilian, you would be wary because you don't know what they would do. If you saw a bandit you'd know they were hostile. For the bandits, you can still keep KOSing your way to happy land all you want. But for the REST of us that want a more unique and varied game experience, we'd get something additional to do (like helping new spawns, teaming up with other heros, securing cities so friendly players can loot, etc). If they did this, it would be a GREAT start to getting a diverse community of heros and bandits. With players all playing "their" role. It wouldn't be all KOS. We could actually do a lot of fun and unique stuff with it. Heros help people. Bandits killing people. Civilians running around not knowing what to do.....lol If none of the below is implemented, we can all plan on the DayZ Standalone being another big KOS suckfest. The stupid item degradation isn't going to stop some antisocial kid from shooting everyone they see. If the Standalone is KOS, you can pretty much expect that DayZ Standalone will last until the next "cool" zombie game comes out. Then it's BUBYE DayZ Standalone and on to the next game hoping it will be more fun than a KOS suckfest. Here's what they should do in the Standalone to FIX the KOS situation: Identifying Bandits / Heros (since the clothing system will remove the normal hero / bandit skins) 1. Bandits must wear masks. It's part of their skin and can't be removed. If a bandit finds a cooler mask, they can pick it up and use it. Maybe have different "level" masks so the cooler ones are available for higher level bandits. 2. Heros must wear armbands. It's part of their skin and can't be removed. The color of the armband indicates how high level hero they are. 3. Fresh spawns with no humanity wear white armbands. It's part of their skin and can't be removed until they're a hero or bandit. Humanity Gain / Loss 1. Killing a hero is -1000 humanity 2. Killing a civilian is -500 humanity 3. Killing a bandit is +250 humanity * If you are a hero and you kill 2 heros or 2 civilians in a row, it doubles the humanity loss. That will fix those individuals who KOS and are mixing hero and bandit kills and somehow manage to get a Hero level by randomly KOSing everyone you see. * There is NO humanity gained for killing zombies, healing, dying, or giving items to other people. That will prevent KOS bandits from running their score up to hero level by giving friends bloodbags or killing zombies. * Humanity is 100% driven by who you kill. Kill friendly and neutral people = you're a bandit. Kill bandits = you're a hero. Benefits / Drawbacks 1. There could be some benefits for being a hero. Maybe a safe zone where you could put your base where you can't get base camped. Maybe some increased stats or something. Maybe a safe zone so you can do trades and interact with other players that isn't accessible by bandits. Maybe you get the ability to spawn at your base. and / or 2. There could be some drawbacks for being a bandit. Maybe your base is more noticeable / easy to find. Maybe you have some lowered stats. * Not anything game breaking, just some benefits for heros or drawbacks for bandits. I'm leaning more towards benefits for heros. Name Changing 1. Should not be allowed or 2. Should be limited to maybe once per month * Those of you that need to change your name once a day, need to go get some ADD meds.....lol In reality, you wouldn't change YOUR name once a day. You're Bob on Monday, Jim on Tuesday, Chad on Thursday.........I don't think so. Vehicle Stealing 1. Vehicles should have keys once you repair them. The keys will be an actual inventory item. Your vehicle will have your name on it and your hero level when you aim the crosshairs at the vehicle. 2. You can "hotwire" a car if you have the tools, but it takes a couple of mins of standing there. Then the vehicle is now tied to whoever stole it, and they get a set of new keys for the vehicle, and the old keys disappear. 3. If you steal a vehicle, it gives the same amount of humanity as killing a player (-1000 hero, -500 civilian, +250 bandit) If they did this, it would be a GREAT start to getting a diverse community of heros and bandits. With players all playing "their" role. It wouldn't be all KOS. We could actually do a lot of fun and unique stuff with it. Heros help people. Bandits killing people.     How to do the Bandit / Hero System in Standalone

    I have seen your clan recruitment thread. It states that Ye do COD AND BF! Hypocrite much?. It also says "Tired of Being Sniped by Bandits?" " Tired of having your vehicles stolen?" Seems like a case of Butthurt Syndrome. We'll have to quarantine you.............. I would expect better from a U.S Paratrooper. Or I dare say ParaPooper.

    How to do the Bandit / Hero System in Standalone

    I'd rather kill bandits than heros. You'd rather kill everyone. KOS So you want consequence free killing of everyone you find, especially if you can make yourself look like everyone else to make it easier. Got it. KOS You want to be a bandit, but dislike the idea of negative humanity for destroying or stealing vehicles. We'll call that Steal On Sight. SOS Yes, in real life GOOD people would band up and create settlements that would be guarded against bandit attack. BAD people would do the same thing. FYI we couldn't get near your safe zones without getting shot at either. Please come back when you understand the concept of what this game "should" be. Again, if you like KOS, COD and BF are just a Steam Store click away!
  7. There is no donating to hoard. Donors are limited to a set number of vehicles. They can put unlimited tents down to hoard weapons/industrial/ whatever non vehicles they want. -All this is earned by the group not given -The bases are Clearly put on the outside edges of the map not interfering with ANY playable area. This was a major focus in the decision of placement of bases. The image is the location of such bases. None of this area effects your game play. The 8k teleport puts you into mogelevka, this is AFTER you recieve a 12 second warning to turn around you are entering a base, and a very loud nuke sound so you cannot be unaware of wandering into one of these. That is BEFORE you get teleported. Final note, These are REWARDS for donating to the server (which people usually do to servers they appreciate) This is the Pudge's way of giving back to the community in which is helping give life to the server.

I used to run this server back it the day but as you all know 1.7.7 removed military vehicles so I shut it down. But now Overwatch is giving them back so the server is up and running again.   9. In the past we had a successful server which was taken down due to hosting issues. Now we are back up with a dedicated rig. Admins are always on in some aspect and can be reached through the Rcon or available teamspeak if any issues arise. The admins are all friendly and respect other players. We only want the server to grow. This is the most recent update and will be tweaked in the coming week. Care packages are dropped on the server and have the ability to have either normal supermarket loot, tons of food, medical supplies, and most rarely high value military loot. After playing Origins and seeing the vehicle salvage ability we knew we had to have it. We have enabled the ability for players to remove parts from cars to repair other cars. The vehicles are on the server are also all custom, spawning including dayz default and admin spawned. There are plenty of planes. The loot tables have been tweaked on the server to eliminate some items (such as watches) which tend to spam some buildings. All high power loot has been tweaked in a way that will encourage many visits to loot areas. With the most recent Dayz update MANY weapons were taken away from the private hives, however we have included as much as we can. The server also has AI which spawn dynamically around the map. We are currently tweaking them. They are not unfairly powered and can be a lot of fun. They have gear which will be more than worth taking from them. The areas they patrol are changed on a weekly basis so players must tread carefully when they reach the northern parts of the map. We have also included the ability to drink from ponds, removed the fog and increased the view distance to 6000, and weapon cache missons ala wasteland. Everyone on the server can attest to the fairness of the admins, their ability to solve issues that arise from DB errors to the rare hacker which slips by them, and the amount of player input that is considered regarding changes to the server.     [SA] Deathmessages - yes or no?

    To be honest I like those 200-300 vehicle servers (as long as they still have only a couple helicopters) more than vanilla vehicle counts. Why? Because of how painfully easy it is to get vehicles even in Vanilla. When playing DayZ with my friends (90% of the time we play on official hive servers) we are going around with 4+ vehicles, usually including a helicopter, at nearly any given time. The difference in 200+ vehicle servers? We actually have variety to pick with like do we want the blue GAZ or the white GAZ? Do we want the red military offroad or the green?
  13. You can't really be surprised that their is an increasingly high amount of hill snipers these days. Iv been playing dayz since april 2012. Iv done it all, and I can honestly say that the part I enjoy the most is exploring and the thrill of looting military hotspots for those juicy weapons. I like nothing more than setting out from cherno with my enfield/winnie, setting out for an adventure. But really, that aspect of the game is pointless today. Lets set aside the 1.8 update adding high tier mill grade weapons in fire stations (which hopefully will be fixed soon). Lets look instead at the servers people play on these days. Im sure as you scroll through dayz commander you will see a bunch of empty servers, then you come across the server with 20-40 people on it, if you took time to read the description this is what they all say: Dayz Chernarus 2 million+ vehicles and choppers+extra barracks in every town+24/7 day, spawn with makarov. Now does that sound like a survival experience to you? No. Because its not. Dayz has changed, the majority of the community enjoy these servers. These servers where there is no reason to leave the coast. All the gear can be found right there in cherno. So what do people do when they reach endgame in 5 minutes? Camp the nearest building/hill. A few months ago, these servers were around. However the classic survival vanilla servers still had people on them too. Such as AvA gaming and the balota buddies whitelist (those servers <3 in my heart forever haha). However the majority consisted of these modded 24/7 day extra barracks servers. Now, whenever i wanted to get some sniping practice, or just wanted a quick death match, id join these modded servers (such as BHR clans server). And yes id camp the hill/building with a DMR i found in the first 5 minutes. Because why the hell would I do anything else on a server like that? Clearly when the admins set 6 barracks per town, and made it day all the time with vehicles under every street lamp and so many choppers it was difficult to see any sky, they didn't expect people do venture up north, make a camp and have a night time barbie after a successful loot of nwaf. Why would you go to nwaf, when there's more loot in cherno? Im straying of point here, what Im trying to say, is the hill sniper is everyone. Because there are no classic servers left anymore. These as i liked to call them back in the day "feral" servers are all thats left. So, players like me just sit back and wait for the SA. Occasionally when there's nothing to do, ill jump onto one of these servers and have a death match in cherno/elektro, whether I'm sniping people from a hill, or cutting them down with my axe. Just to keep my skills sharp And thats why I camp the hill, not because i like seeing people rage, or I'm new and don't want to risk my gear, but because thats all there is to do now. I don't have to work for my gear, so I have no fear of losing it. The survival servers are gone. if you log onto a dayz server today with the intention of not death matching I'm afraid the sad truth is your kidding yourself. PS: if anyone can find me a complete vanilla server with a player base of at least 20, I would love you. TL;DR All servers are edited, 24/7 day, spawn with gun, 2 million vehicles and choppers 6 barracks per town= no classic dayz gameplay. Camping hill/death matching is the only thing left.
  14. Well it's a nice assertion but you haven't backed it up. As for options, no they are not good, otherwise we could argue about an option to make me fly. According to your logic, it should be added and leave it to the server admins to decide if they want to turn it on or off. Considering the premise of the game and what it's aiming for, death messages go against it and therefore should not be an option but should be removed. Seems to me that some people want it to be a "survival" game but then they want crutches. Saying that, looking at the state of servers today most people want lot's of cars, weapons and ammo scattered literally everywhere with all the crutches turned on. Since when was dayz ever about having guns stockpiled all over the place. The fact that the game already has so many options just goes to show how "options" have ruined the whole thing - the servers out there are evidence of this and the ones that are busiest are the ones with the easiest access to guns and vehicles?
  15. Had a good re-debut weekend. We're picking up momentum for sure, already have a handful of regulars (some still had us in their favorites from our previous server!) and our core group. Lots of very cool map additions, classy, not over the top stuff here. If you are a Lingor veteran you'll likely notice alot of the stuff added in, if not, you'll not know what's normally there and what's been added. Now we do have a few purely custom bases etc that are obvious but the bulk of what's added blends in. Come check us out, very cool admins, no admin abuse - NONE. Admins are very active and we're constantly working to add improvements. We are not some fly by night dayz clan that just sprang into existence. We are part of an online gaming community that has been gaming together since 2004. www.gloryofwar.com We play many games, we're not out to rule dayz as the uber dayz clan. We are not a clan at all, we're an open gaming community that loves the game.   17. You still didn't answer my question what do death messages actually add to the game. People also like 100000 vehicles and choppers, 24/7 daylight servers better. It doesn't mean they will be optional in standalone. In fact, they most probably won't. Another feature people love that should be removed is waypoints. They don't add anything to the game aside from making it much easier for the player. Can't say I've had a laugh because of a death message and I'm pretty sure I've been playing since day one :/

It has literally been up for less than a full day as of this post, so join ASAP and secure your base and vehicles! If that isn't reason enough to hop and check it out, then I suppose I could tell you that the server is ran by experienced people who know what they are doing. We are fair in all disciplinary matters and have no rules other than the obvious ones (No voice on side, Use common sense, Respect admins,etc). You want to be a Lone Wolf bandit and blow things up? Go ahead! Who are we to change how you play? Same goes for all those heroes out there, too! We have lots of vehicles, 700 in fact, for you to travel the vast wasteland of chernarus with relative ease. Be weary, however!   20. Okay, some of you will recognise the format of this from such excellent entertainment as Skippy's list and 'Things Mr Welch is no longer allowed to do in an RPG'. During a bored moment, I figured that DayZ would probably see some mileage from a list like this too - so, without further ado: Things I am not allowed to do in DayZ any more: 1: Playing the ‘Benny Hill’ theme while I do it does not justify running round Elektro firing my Lee Enfield rifle. 2: ‘Buzzing’ newbies in a Huey on the Cherno to Elektro road is best done when my teammates are not sat in said Huey screaming for their lives. 3: If I start singing ‘Kum Ba Yah’ one more time when someone lights a campfire, I will be shot and left for dead. 4: Wearing a Ghillie Suit does not entitle me to communicate in Wookie over TeamSpeak. 5: Whilst my commitment to recycling is admirable, there are no recycling centres on Chernarus, so I can stop holding the party up to collect tin cans. 6: The Coyote backpack is NOT the reason we don’t see any Coyotes around Chernarus. 7: Likewise, the British Assault Pack does NOT contain brass knuckles and a top hat. 8: I am limited to a maximum of two Ron Burgundy quotes per play session. 9: I am not allowed to shoot other players for their morphine ‘because I need a fix, man’. 10: No matter how many times I try, we are never going to ‘get wicked sweet airtime’ in the bus. 11: Humming the ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ theme when approaching the Northwest airfield does not help anybody’s nerves, no matter how loud I do it. 12: If I don’t hit the rabbit with the first box of M249 ammo, we should probably just cut our losses and move on. 13: The AS50 is no longer to be used for opening tins of beans. This goes double when someone else is holding them. 14: No matter how close I try to get, that zombie in the white shirt and beret does NOT look like Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters. 15: Chernogorsk is not Russian for ‘Whale’s Vagina’. Also, see item 8. 16: ‘Taking the sniper out’ does not mean inviting him for dinner over side chat. 17: We are all aware of the effect a baked bean and sardine-heavy diet will have on the digestive system, and no more will be said on the matter. 18: I am to stop asking new players where Thumper is and telling them that I’m sorry about their mother. 19: I am to stop screaming ‘Airwooooolfffffff, nooooooo!’ at Heli Crash sites. 20: Holding up other players is acceptable. Interrogating them ‘Jack Bauer style’ is not. 21: Our hero group’s motto does not mean “Cannon Fodder” in latin. 22: Landing a helicopter on a hospital roof is impressive. Especially when playing Hero. 128: I am expected to inform the other passengers BEFORE bailing out when flying the Huey. 129: Chernarus is NOT 'just like Wales with friendlier locals'. 130: Just because we found a Ghillie Suit in a church does not mean that it's the same one Jesus wore. Moreover, there are so many things wrong with that statement, I should be ashamed of myself. 131: It doesn't matter where or how I got it, I'm not allowed to play with the T-72. 132: Any camouflage given by the Ghillie Suit does not 'stack' by wearing two or more. 133: Not allowed to play 'Hatchet tag' with my teammates. 134: Even if I do know morse code, not allowed to use my flashlight to transmit the lyrics to 'It's Raining Men'. 135: Not allowed to troll the French guy by surrendering to every single zombie we come across. 136: Likewise, I'm not allowed to mock the Italian guy by offering to switch sides every time we come under attack. 137: There is no easter egg where you can find the Teletubbies hill, so I can stop wasting all our fuel looking for it. 138: There is a key difference between a UAZ and a UAV. I am to learn and understand this difference before I am allowed to drive the UAZ again. 139: When playing DayZ Origins, I am not allowed to try and take down Dr Ivan with my Makarov. 140: There is an upper limit to the amount of time I am allowed to spend 'punting' zombies in the SUV at the Northwest airfield.

    DayZ Mouse-Scrolling issue

    Just wondering if the problem is fixed for you? I'm currently having the same problem in one particular server. As I first enter this server, everything is fine - my scroll options work perfectly but shortly after my scroll option seems to disappear. Seems to happen when I jump into vehicles (can't get back out, as the scroll option is no longer there). I didn't think it was my mouse, as I do have the scroll options when I first log into this server but just incase it was, I switched mice twice and the same problem occurred. This only happens in one particular server, as I play in at least two other Epoch servers. I've spoken to the admins of this particular server and they said that no one has ever had this problem before, so they don't think it's a server problem (they have 30-40 regular players, with approx. 20 pop ins). Is there anyone else out there with similar problems? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a fix? Thanks, Nicole.

    Excessive military loot

    Chernarus is not in the Czech Republic, this is evident from the Cyrillic signage - the Czech Republic uses the Latin alphabet. The terrain and certain things like vehicle selection is based on the Czech Republic, but nothing more. This was convenient since the area they were modelling was in BIS' backyard. The CDF did not use Czech weapons and vehicles, they used Soviet weapons and vehicles. AKM/SA58 do less than 60% of the M14's damage, at 400m they do less than 40%. AKM/SA58 both have much more recoil than the DMR (5-5 and 5-4 respectively, M14 has 3-3 recoil, the same as 5.56 weapons). M14 has less bullet drop, faster flight time, more accuracy, more power, less recoil, faster effective rate of fire (full auto is useless outside of very close range). I would like for them to remove all the M14s and DMRs and Mk 48 Mod 0s, etc. They are there only because people happen like them, not because they fit the setting whatsoever or because they are in any way plausible. I remember Scubaman3D posted this: However I somewhat disagree... -the Chernarus map is a very small area of a larger country, not all weapons in the entire country would be found in Chernarus - instead of looking at statistics for the entire Czech Republic, a more accurate method would be to look at statistics ONLY for the area Chernarus is based on. -although similar in terrain, Chernarus is not the Czech Republic. -Chernarus is rural and not a high-income area, people would not have tricked-out AR15s. Look at the villages, that type of weapon doesn't fit. I don't mind some Western weaponry but I still think this is a case of people wanting something specific (ie, many types of Western weapons), then finding various explanations to support that...

    Maybe the weapons as well as clothing and vehicles get worn out. So say your trigger gets worn out, you need to fix it. Your clothes tear, leaving you open to the elements, you need to sew it up. The carrier could have parts, as well clothing.
