    Looting will always be hard for one person, as it should be. If people have to rely on stealth to enter towns, vice just bolting in and counting on walking zombies in buildings, they'll actually have to take their time. This is what I did before I realized zombies walked indoors. Plus if looting were difficult for one person, you'd think that would encourage teamplay in itself? To be honest, and this is my opinion, I found everything (with the exception of construction) about Origins to be poor. Taviana as a map is terrible and uninspired. I really don't think a non-zombie staffed area in Chernarus would work, nor would it "encourage" teamplay any more than what we have now. In my mind, having systems in place to increase individual reliance on others would do this. Simply having an ambient WoW-esque raid location doesn't fulfill that need. Rocket has said as much. Plus, the "teamplay" you describe only really applies differently than vanilla DayZ in Salvation City. Outside of that, you get the same exact interface we have in vanilla DayZ. Furthermore, the opposite of PvP is PvE not "teamplay". I know plenty of teamplay clans that PvP their hearts out. I know plenty of solo players that don't even touch PvP if they can. Origins and Breaking Point are novelties, albeit relatively innovative ones. It's not that vanilla is less fun, it's just not lasting. Whereas with mods, there are new experiences to be had, thus some of that initial giddiness returns. I know, I've tried many a mod and gotten bored with them in far less time than I became stagnant with vanilla DayZ. People play them because there's new stuff to do, not because they offer a "better" experience. Origins offers construction and Taviana. BP offers more weapons, that's it. Nothing else advertised about BP works currently. Other than that, they're the same thing as vanilla DayZ. All of the same "collecting, repair, & major focus on PvP" you mention is still there. In fact I'd submit that it's exacerbated by the ready availability of weapons in BP and poorly thought out placement of new high-end loot spawns. What will discourage wanton PvP, is what Rocket has stated. Hard and unforgiving mechanics, sparse loot, rarer weapons and ammunition, managing disease, managing hunger and thirst moreso, and all the other additions of SA. Plus, you can't both call DayZ boring and then turn around and say it's too focused on "extreme PvP". DayZ is special because it allows players to fill roles, such as having players be roving bandits rather than just copping out and having them be NPCs. If they were NPCs, they'd have set patterns and thus would be predictable. You can't interact with them in a manner other than, shoot or die. That seems backwards to me when you're advocating against the same drawbacks of PvP. The two main grievances people have against vanilla DayZ as a game are that there's too much deathmatching and there's not enough "end-game" stuff to keep players occupied. The latter feeds into the former, because people get geared and there is nothing left for them to do besides kill people. They don't have a hard time surviving, they don't have to marshal resources, they don't have to maintain their gear, they don't have a hard time repairing vehicles. There are no camps to maintain, there is nothing. Most if not all of this is being remedied in SA.

    Night time gameplay

    Was playing on a server last night with a group of players taking on NPC and zeds. Had nvg but had brought the wrong main gun type so played without them. Sure it was harder but was still a lot of fun and a more intense game. Had squads of NPC loaded up in vehicles hunting us which was much more intense without the use of nvg.

First proplem: Incase you get connected to wrong server with our IP: - Leave the lobby of the server you connected to - Open ARMA II Server browser - Click Remote and use our IP & port - You should now see our server on the list and you should be able to connect! Why is this happening? For some odd reason GTX is renting the same ip adress to 2 servers which we cant fix. Second proplem: Are you getting an error about dayz_communityassets or something like that? Here is what you need to do: 1. Go to your Steam folder and from there navigate yourself to steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead. 2. Delete @DayZ folder 3. Now open DayZ Commander and redownload DayZ mod and if needed, Origins Mod aswell.

Swear to god. Anyway, we running around in the woods and went over a hill and see this giant blue rectangle, one of my friends screamed "Holy shit it's a bus!" So we hopped in and everything was perfectly green, I looked at the wiki and I read that most vehicles need to be repaired. Slightly confused I just said screw it and decided to drive around with the bus. So we drove around while we waited for another friend to get on the game to pick him up, however we hadn't told him that we found a bus. Wanting to surprise him we kept it a secret and we we're going to drive up to him with it. So we told him to meet us at a gas station near the balota air strip. So we head down there and when we get to it we ask where he is and he doesn't respond, then we hear two loud shots and two of our tires get blown out and we hear him scream on skype "Holy shit guys I just stopped a bus!!!" Needless to say we were pissed, none of us had tires and we were thinking recklessly, so at the time we decided that if we couldn't drive the bus no one could! We shot out every tire, every window, and blew up the engine. We started bagging on our friend that shot the two tires and began to walk away. Suddenly we heard a loud *PAWP* and we whipped around thinking someone shot some really dumb sounding gun, instead the bus had fixed itself! We got back in the bus and drove around for hours hitting every possible tree, because we knew that the magic school bus would just pop back into shape whenever we broke it anyway. (Please remember, we were pretty damn nooby at the time, later we found out that it was a server glitch and every vehicle on server was doing it, despite that it was definitely a memorable moment)

    [SA] Rare starting spawn

    you know what, this is one of the best ideas I've heard of in a while.. this is excellent ! I don't see how this could be a bad idea at all. So simple yet something like this could put an awesome gameplay structure/impact on the game in a more detailed and experimental sense resulting in a unique situation driven experience. The special spawn locations could be very rare of course, something to spice it up without it really affecting or overpowering anything in particular.Now for that reason i don't see why this couldn't happen.. imagine after the 500th beach spawn, you start off a new character & wake up as a lone old priest in a fortified church in a random small town at dusk with impending pitch black darkness there will be no full moon TONIGHT. Armed with nothing but petrol cans and bottles for Molotov's, a compass with a torch and a radio fuzzing with no contact, 10's of kilometers from any other survivor the town is completely infested with the church in the town center ...Its been weeks now and there is only dog food left..you cant stay for longer than 1 more night, max.. Tonight is the night. You have to devise a plan from the resources you have(or dont have rather) left to work out an exit strategy. You can gain access to the roof of the church.. u craft some molotovs and decide to use them as decoys to throw and burn some of the vehicles in the street to create large bon fires to lure & distract the infected then escape under the cover of darkness. Or maybe something simple like you wake up naked in the forest with a raw carrot shoved up your arsehole. The ideas are endless ! Ok, so obviously the church idea is a bit detailed but you catch my drift of the " experimental situations " idea, a unique experience that happens from a rare " start spawn " where some situations can be more detailed then others that require some sort of decision making process to an overall exist strategy. Perhaps ideas of the church idea caliber could even be administered to players that the game deems to be "advanced" to not put to much pressure on an unsuspected fresh noob. Please understand this more so falls under my fantasy list so approach the idea with an open mind.. the situations wouldn't be extremely difficult.. just something to make people think about and plan their actions carefully in a mediocre puzzle sense from the start point of view that wouldn't make the game un fun or un fair thus rewarding the player with some nice basic start items for their trouble :D I think making interesting spawn ideas could add so much more diversity to an already authentic sandbox environment ! ! This could even be a good idea for a competition " invent the best start idea" and the dev team implements the best 1 and it occurs every 10918439048 spawns ^_^ Regardless, From now on when I'm bored shitless I'm going to spend my time pondering the ideas of dayz spawn situations ^_^
  9. Oh my god this server is the best. Friendly admins and so much things to do. I was playing alone and I was walking all the sudden I get shot at I turn around I see Ghille Snipers shooting at me and I just booked it. Playing alone has a new experience. Also the bandit camp and hideout is a challenge but the loot is worth it. Any body who has dayz I promise you will not be disappointed with this server. Custom Ai's, A bunch of vehicles, New Weapons, and the wardrobe feature is great. I suggest you get on dayz right now join this server and have fun. We are a private hive server, have both new and experienced players, and anyone is welcome to join. We have a day/night(full moon) cycle and dynamic weather with a late sunset/early sunrise. We're constantly looking for ways to improve the server but never at the risk of players possibly losing loot. The server automatically resets at 4 hour intervals to keep the server running smoothly; time til reset is shown in the custom debug monitor. Server is taking a non-enforced RP approach to DayZ (players are welcome to play and ignore the thematic elements). Starts with the 'Post-Day-Z' feel, you are a well-equipped remnant of the military who has chosen to stay behind after the military has abandoned Chernarus to the zeds. Bandits are poorly equipped but numerous, and lootable items are common (a la vanilla-DayZ). As time progresses, bandits will become more skilled, all types of weapons and loot in general will become rarer, and individual survivors who take on 'professions' can greatly increase the survival chances for the community. In the future, the server may migrate to a new mod, a new map (or possibly both), taking the community with it to create more good times! Events in the meantime will include admin-driven events such as programmed hotspots around new or rare loot (such as bonus vehicles or weapons), mini-games among survivors for bragging rights, and stat-driven progression to obtain rare equipment and consumables for your characters (that you -could- loot for if you don't want to take part in the events, of course). Vehicles do not respawn [with rare exception], and there are AI bandits about, so be extra careful in the daytime! Server has three 8-hour 'days' of 3am-11am each, first cycle sync'ed with MST.     Looking for help

    Hey everyone. I am here as we at overclock.net wish to begin hosting a private hive DayZ server to go along with our 2 completely vanilla, public hive servers. Experiencing a bit of difficulty getting things going and haven't had any luck getting the help needed at home over on OCN. Hoping someone around here can help. Looking for a Chernarus server with extra vehicles and a custom loadout for everyone to start. Hope to get some help soon on how to get that set up. Thanks :)

    Dragging Bodies in Standalone?

    *cough* Pax video from four days ago *cough* When they get the animation syncing correct, Rocket confirmed this as a feature (dragging). Loading into vehicles is a logical conclusion... especially seeing how the game can already do it. I wish people would play A2 before playing DayZ. It'd make shooting bandits harder, at least.
  14. Hey, I'm new to these forums, and I've done some search barring to find related topics to this suggestion but not exactly. First, I am asking does anyone know if body dragging will return in the standalone? If so, can/will there be a feature to assist people with broken legs (not only those unconscious) be it dragging or just supporting their weight? Now here's my suggestion, I've seen this posted before as a means of kidnapping but I have a different idea. Can we make it possible to force unconscious bodies into air/ground vehicles as a means of rescuing? (Or kidnapping too I guess) For example, your buddy passes out and you drag him to your vehicle a few feet away and load him into the passenger seat, then drive off to somewhere safe. Or a kidnapping example would be to hit someone with a bat in order to knock them out and do the same thing, but i would think this would be less popular. Idk, I am a big fan of helicopters so I just think it would awesome to drag someone or help someone with a broken leg to a helicopter and bring them to a hospital or camp with medical supplies

  17. In addition to the popular Wasteland mission hosted on CodeFourGaming servers, CodeFourGaming now has a DayZ Origins server as well and players are welcome to come join. There is also the Teamspeak server that players are encouraged to join as well for either servers. Presently the Origins server has low pop and hopefully the server will fill up over time. This is probably a good time for getting started with player housing, taking the time to explore the Taviana map (contains multimple smaller islands as well) and settle down for fun gameplay onwards. Origins has several interesting features. The one I personally like is that there is MORE than a single helicopter spawn around. AI soldiers might offer some challenges when raiding them. :) Also, a noticable feature is ofc the player housing (houses is said to be deleted after a number of days of being not used afaik, not sure of the exact amount of days, hopefully the timeframe for deletion will be expanded in upcoming patches for DayZ Origins). DayZ origins also have upgradable vehicles for adding protective plating.     Hopefully we'll get to put guns on any vehicle when the vehicle customization Rocket has discussed is implemented, to compliment armed military vehicles. And what I really, really want: Shooting out of vehicles. It already exists in ArmA II mods, so I'm sure it could be done.

    Different quality vehicles and weapons?

    Well, there will be weapon degradation in the Standalone, so I'd think it's entirely possible for some weapons to spawn at a different quality. As for vehicles, don't we already have that? I mean, most vehicles are missing parts when you find them, but if you're lucky, you'll find a driveable or even completely repaired one. And speaking of a bolt jamming animation, I sure do hope that there are bolting animations for rifles.

    Learning to fly

    I can fly the biplane pretty well, but I can only just handle the Huey. I've crashed once before, and after that I practiced a bit and got better. Nothing impressive, but I won't kill anybody. Oh, and why implement advanced flight mechanics when you plan to remove all the vehicles?
  22. **I'M NOT SURE IF THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN SUGGESTED OR NOT** Picture yourself in a apocalypse. You walk into a barn, and you find a perfectly polished Shotgun laying on the ground, right there for your taking. Okay, now picture yourself in a real apocalypse. Don't you think the shotgun would have rust on it? Or some sort of defect? Maybe if you find weapons in barns, they have slight rusted spots, maybe making reloading just a tad slower, or even broken iron sites, possibly even a chance for the gun to break after so many shots are fired? If you found an M16 at the barracks at, lets say NEAF, it would more than likely be in pristine condition, given that it was used by the military. But if you find an M16 in a tree stand, it's been outside, it's been affected by the weather, it's been sitting, collecting dust and grime. Chances are it won't be the same high quality standard. Maybe we could get some new textures? Such as CZ550 [RUST], obviously with a few rust spots, maybe even the bolt "jamming". The way it would work would be the rifle would no longer be selected, in which you could just press F again to reselect it. This would solve the "ghost" players that roam around and scavenge towns, treestands and if they're lucky enough, tents. These players (if they wanted to have a high quality weapon) would be forced to head to places like NWAF, Stary Sobor, and other highly dangerous areas for a higher reward of loot. Also, maybe the same thing with vehicles? If you find a truck on a farm, generally it's going to have some wear and tear, more so than that same truck being found at a military base. Just an idea.

  24. Ok so i play DayZ for a good period. What about rethink the process and weaponry adding more post soviet weapons instead a lot of american ones? Why helicrashes are all americans? Chernarus as said in ArmA2 is a Post Soviet scenario, DayZ follow the same enviroment scenario so why not follow this and make a more Old russian aspect in the game? Also WHY there are not civilian clothing???????????? =)

    I'd also like to see multivitamins, body lotion, and hand sanitzer added to reduce bodily malfunction and and discomfort. Also, maybe some turtle wax and Rain-X for my vehicles. <_<
