  1. Yo, Ive been laying for a while, and ive gotten pretty good. (my best record is a guy who lived a year) Anyway, i moved and lost contact with my clan, but as the scavenger, i simply moved on. Now, Im looking for someone or a group to run with. Leave a reply if you are interested. My best skills are sniping, scavenging, and finding vehicles.
  2. Greetings, Me and my buddies recently (a week ago) joined this new server, loldiggers something (188.165.218.132:2352). The majority of players there are Russians and Germans. I'm from the east block. :) After several days I've received a threat from one of the local admins (named Pjod), he told me to stop stealing his vehicles or I get banned. I had nothing to do with his loss, he chose me since I was the only one from Ru community there who could speak decent english. So I told him that since i didn't take his cars he should leave me alone, and let me enjoy the game. Frankly I was surprised by such arrogant approach... So, where were we... Ah. This guy Pjod contacts me and tells me to talk to ALL Russian players on the server and tell them not to take admins vehicles or we ALL be banned. I refused, telling him I'm not there to serve as his personal translator and emissary. Guess what -- second later I got kicked (have it on fraps). Ok i think, so what -- one of the admins is infantile dude with anger management problems (two days before he and his buddy (also admin named Grave) were hunting for newlyborns in Etanovsk. See for yourself -- two fully equipped admins with top sniper rifles, shooting capes at the spawn point, classy right?) I can deal with that. But the story of angry admins who can't play fair continued. Next time i'm on server, one of my buddies (along with couple of other players) was banned by another admin (Insaneety). I asked admin why, and he told me that the guy was banned for stealing admin's vehicles. I personally think that banning people for stealing your stuff (which is part of DayZ) is not cool at all, but I guess it's admins right to ban people for whatever they see fit, as long as the ban is for their server only. Anyway, my friend was accused of stealing, I asked admin why does he think it's him, if he does have any proof? He didn't. After we talked a while, I finally got the truth from him (have everything on Fraps) -- he didn't like that the server became more popular, a lot of new people joined, and his vehicles began to disappear from time to time. Since more than a half of newcomers were Russians, he decided to ban people based on their nationality, because he though it will keep his precious URALs safe. Not my words, his -- "the plan was to ban all Russian players". Again -- have everything on Fraps, see screen below. After I told him I think it's childish and injust, and I don't want to play on server with such hypocritical rules I got banned as well. So that's the little story of infantile admins who have opened a server with free access, and then were banning people based on illusive assumptions and their nationality. Beware. I'm not mad, it's a game and there are a lot of servers with adequate admins, we'll find another one. But I'm disappointed, yes. What I can't tolerate is admins abusing their power and being nationalistic. Why do I write this -- I just want people to know about double standards system of local admins. Don't join this server if you want a long term fair play. Local admins want only docile players who don't touch their vehicles and let admins kill capes at spawning grounds. Would you have the urge to visit them and take couple of helis though -- be my guest, I wouldn't say their base is positioned very clever, so you will easily find it. :) Have a nice play on another server and avoid arrogant admins, Lnzu out.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7 Patch

I have to say. I am puzzled as to why certain vehicles have now been banned. These arent even mentioned in the changelog that I can see. Why ban the SUV? And the MTVR? There are others that were, up till now, allowed, but are prolly overpowered or not "appropriate" but cmon.... really? As a server admin this is slightly annoying.
  4. The walkways in some buildings are death traps. Especially if you're getting chased by zombies, and you think you can lose them, you head up there looking for a hatchet or something, but no. If you go up on them things, whilst getting chased by zombies, you're fucked. You can't go back the way you came because zombies block you. You just run into them getting gang raped and knocked down. Its only by some miracle that you might glitch past them, but even thewn you've already lost too much blood and you may aswell kill yourself. So here is my suggestion: Shoving, or knocking the zombies down. Take the example above, if you are close enough to a zombie, you can press a key and you'll shove it: either into the ground or just to the side. This will give you some time to get past them, instead of being raped by them. This will also save alot of time and deaths, especially for new players. And my last suggestion: Faster animations. I know the SA already has some faster and more accessible ways to do things, (eg. looting) but things like getting in and out of vehicles, climbing ladders etc takes too long. To climb ladders you need to stand in the most precise location, find the option to climb it, select 'climb ladder', holster your weapon and THEN climb. Meanwhile you are most likely mauled to death by zombies. Sometimes there are too many options on the action menu thing. For example: getting out of a car in a hurry. You have 4 options all in the way: Engine off, Get out, eject, and gear, and if you're like me, you'll be in a hurry to get out of whatever situation it is. 90% of the time I miss and end up selecting something I didn't want to, thus giving the zombies more time to eat me while I try again. There should be a key you can press (F maybe?) that quickly performs the action, but only when facing a door / gate / ladder / vehicle. For instance you run over to a ladder, hit F and you start climbing, instead of having to cycle through options. And just so you know, I'm not ranting, I'm just saying there needs to be a quicker way to do certain things. Thanks for reading, tell me what you think:
  5. Let me tell you how they play "just like us". I happened across the admin base after swimming to skalisty island to check the chopper spawn. The vehicles over there have clearly admin added items, with all round numbers for items, (ex 30 mags of ak, 10 this 10 that). After about 20 seconds of checking that stuff I notice a red admin private message spamming my screen. "You are in a restricted area, leave now or action will be taken". Now I'm pissed cause I swam all that way and I found a chopper fair and square. I get teleported back to the coast, and promptly kicked off the game. This is yet another server run by an admin who is 14 years old (check his profile), and can't handle it when another player stumbles across his stuff. Yeah, the admins play the game just like us, just with total admin power. Difference between a hacker and an admin? I'm finding the line a bit fuzzy. Will not be returning to this server.
  6. Found the entry for the vehicles in the instance_vehicle table and cleared the damage entries. I also found the "template" entries for the vehicles in the vehicle table. The template entries do reflect four wheels only for this vehicle. Im a bit concerned about how the instance_vehicle table got populated with damage to parts the vehicle shouldn't have. Im fixed for now and will post to the bug thread if it happens again.

    Requesting Auth hang

The reason why these servers were created is it allows for players to go on these servers to do PVP instead of actually surviving - and yeah 10,000+ vehicles is outrageous. The server I play on is 100+ only.

    Requesting Auth hang

I first started playing wayback around when the mod was first getting popular, but I had a crappy laptop and couldn't really enjoy it. I just bought a desktop and can run it at full settings, which is awesome. But, whats up with all these modded servers? Seriously, 10,000+ vehicles? Starting with weapons? Isn't this the exact opposite of what DayZ should be? Anyway even on the like, three, regular servers that arn't private hive that I can find (again, why are we all private hive now? What gives?), I keep getting this ridiculous hang on Requesting authentication. It either flat out hangs here or gives a "something went wrong" error. Its getting quite annoying. And yes I have searched around for a fix. Any tips?

    Hi everyone!! New and excited!

My advice? Download 1.7.7, find a Vanilla server with nothing else added. Just normal DayZ with not added loot or more added vehicles. Also make sure there are at least 20 other players on. And learn the hard way. If you learn this way be prepared to die a lot, become very frustrated and annoyed but you will quickly learn. And you will very quickly become a good player who knows how to deal with the difficulty. Stay away from servers with starting gear and loads of vehicles though. Those are just easy mode servers where everything is handed on a plate for you. If you learn on 1.7.7 you will be able to tackle anything in future.

    To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7

Sorry if i interrupt the happiness of all those who think the patch is great but maybe you failed to notice the amount of bugs an glitches the patch brang back. What about tents which won't set up and when they do, dupe themselves ? What about stuff missing in inventory ? What about stashes that don't work, ? Vehicles you can't fix (helis) ? Zeds zigzaging as hell ? random aggro etc...Truth is the game didn't become harder, it just became frustrating and made a lot of people quit until another patch comes along to fix the mess (if it ever does). For me the game became easier and uninterresting for a simple reason : servers i play on are now empty and i can cross the whole map without meeting a soul. If you guys find AI Zeds will ever be a replacement for the thrill of escaping other players looking to kill you, you are seriously mistaken because it gets boring really fast. In any case, making Zeds harder or easier is not the point, the point is the game is broken because Zed's behaviour is broken, and because glitches and bugs make the game frustrating and without interest when you add them up.

The problems I've found so far with 1.7.7

I was very excited for this patch and i generally like all the changes including buffs to zeds and infection there's one problem though LOOT IS SHIT ! I understand that zeds were a non issue before and that it was too easy but and i like the fact that they got buff but finding gear now especially one thing that suddenly became very very important ANTIBIOTICS is nearly impossible. If you get infected your best bet is die in some place you can come back to and take your gear back rather than wasting your time trying to find antibiotics , it's way faster unless your very lucky. Other thing is repairing vehicles is soooooo time consuming , once again i know it can't be too easy but this is overkill so in essence .. LOOT SPAWNS NEED TO BE BUFFED ESPECIALLY ANTIBIOTICS !!
  12. jovial

    Why do people store gear?

The accumulation of weapons, gear and vehicles for use to destroy other people and accumulate even more things is the endgame for your typical clan. :) Getting killed and looting and running around for 1 hour to get geared up again gets tiresome after a while. Don't get me wrong, even with a clan, and a camp, you'll find yourself starting from scratch sometimes, but if you can save yourself some of that hassle, why not?

    Yet another standalone thread

Yes I'm aware vehicles aren't in at first. Once you get used to mouse wheel looting it is the quickest, I can honestly say that after hundreds of hours I have mastered the arma inventory and will miss it. Thousands won't I know but hey ho My comment regarding ass licking was of the G4 VG247 vids. "Let's have a question from our viewers! Hi Dean we love you can I still be a spanner in Cherno kthxbye" I would have loved to have been there to actually ask a pertinent question as opposed to the same question 18 times over in several videos of the event Edit - as I stated I'm on holiday and am now quite bored so I've trawled a hell of a lot of the various E3 vids available looking for that little tidbit of info other vids didn't have. It wasn't there...
  14. Dancing.Russian.Man

    Yet another standalone thread

As far as the inventory question goes; Does it have to be overly complex? It would feel like a gimmick to use a scroll wheel to open a menu, go into gear, and click on the stuff to move it into your inventory, or go into gear, open your backpack, and then do the same -- if it wasn't like that years before DayZ even existed. Having to aim at an item and press E to pick up doesn't kill the game. It's a minor convenience, which isn't even required from you to perform. (You should note that the whole drag-and-drop wasn't the only way to do things.) Edit; As for physics? Yeah, general physics are no doubt fixed so that a gently opening door won't slap your ass so hard that you break both of your legs. Vehicles won't be in the foundation release for the Standalone at first. (You knew that, right?) I'm sure they will get tweaked as well. I don't think the E3 was "ass licking." They were showing the current progress on the Alpha that we hadn't yet seen in the devBlogs. Probably not all of the changes, but at least the major ones.
  15. After watching plenty of E3 vids whilst on holiday I like the way it's going but after hundreds of hours of the mod I'm becoming certain that when I eventually get my mitts on a standalone key it's going to bake my brain. This is the one downfall of the long development, long term players so so used to the inventory as it is are going to have a hard time adjusting for a while. Whilst I'm on inventory what about FOV adjustment, although it hasn't been said outright it seems that my trusty mouse wheel is going to be taking a back seat for looting, item pickups will be pushed towards first person with the vicinity mechanic that has been shown. If I adjust my FOV (if it is still enabled) this long mouse drag across the inventory screen we've been shown will be a pain in the backside if the mouse is doing it's dicky fit cos I've dared to want a more 2 eyed first person perspective. Am anxious to see the prison, I see that the shipwreck model has been put in at Rify which is cool. With rocket saying that the northern area close to debug is being reworked this makes me wonder where a base could be placed, every man and his dog knows to nosy north west of myshkino and lopatino for tents and vehicles and my favoured base spot has always been right on debug line, either on the ledge or the tucked in slopey bit which depending on the server and it's regulars/admins is either a good plan or it's gone in 5 hours. Plus the question no bugger seems to be asking at E3 (or I haven't caught that vid) - are we due for any sort of physics? Like at all? They've said vehicles will be redone after initial release, will we still be getting the bizarre high speed drifts that I've grown to enjoy? After recently watching my team mate attempt suicide by driving a bus off pik kolova and failing miserably I really hope they actually add some gravity as currently he might as well have been on the moon. I'm not trying to be negative just most of the E3 stuff has been moronic arse licking crap, would love to have been there to ask some of the juicier questions that need to be asked...imo

Low Frame rate issue makes zero sense

Chernarus, I tried empty servers on mine and medium loaded servers with 250+ vehicles on them... I think battleye is causing dat lag
  17. Hi Guys. Been playing on this server since May, thought I'd actually join the forums and give the game and the server some positive acknowledgement. Definitely loving the new (all be it testing) updates, I'm in agreement that the airstrikes, care packages and dynamic helicopter crashes are great additions to the game. The Z's currently at the top of their game, its not just the case of running round a tree a few times just to get rid, I had one spot me while I was prone at about 20m yesterday and had a two mile run just to get shot him, although this makes life harder for all of us, I welcome the realism that this brings to the game, I think before, I was guilty of previously disregarding the Zombies of some secondary threat, this is no longer the case. While the emptying of the backpack does not go along with the realism that I'm after, an empty backpack is preferable to having the impossibility of infinite ammo, so I'm in agreement with this. Loot is harder to find than previous but , this makes me appreciate the smaller things in life such as a coke or a decent sized backpack. The new update to remove parts from vehicles sounds good, I can see players returning to their vehicles and finding it resting on bricks, I predict some mischief may be afoot. I generally find that the servers current players are a bit more friendly than previous ones, but the memory of past and bitter experiences have tainted my trust in humanity, I'm friendly but well wary. Trying to convert some guys at work to get them off their Play Stations and away from COD, its hard going but I reckon I've sparked a bit of interest. Overall, my experience of this game is that is bloody brilliant so its a 5 star from me, I just need my Mrs and my job to give me a break so that I can play full time. Niten..
  18. Thanks for the post :) I know the backpacks are a bit of a pain but we're all getting used to it and the feedback so far is mostly positive with regards to no more infinite ammo. A definite game changer for the better. Today I've added a script that allows you to remove parts from vehicles, this should help with the lack of industrial loot in 1.7.7. So far it's testing well with no glitches. We've just found out that resting at tents can cure infection as long as it's your tent. That helps with the low spawn of Antibiotics. It can take quite a few tries to get cured mind! We have a few more new players and the community is starting to re-build nicely so if you could get your friends on that would be great, beanz for you :beans: :beans: :beans: Kind regards Mr Mac.
  19. The core problem of DayZ has been the fact that it tries to do something original engine wasn't meant to do. Melee. Zombies used to spread out and zig-zag towards you like soldiers. Pathfinding is limited to following players' steps. They need to be fast in order to perform any threat to players, and it causes clitchyness like warping, poor hit detection etc. If they would be really slow they wouldnt be any harder obstacle than a fence. Maybe it's just me thinking but since CoD kids appeared to DayZ the standards of players and community came down like an avalanche from Mt. Everest. THIS. ISN'T. COD. WITH. BEANS. This is surprising - it seems to be really impossible task for so many people nowadays to play regular Arma2/3 in multiplayer. Why they have to contaminate everything they try and force every game or mod into the same arcade mold? If you recognize these features from yourself, congrats, take an energy drink. "This added pve content seriously disturbs my n00b shooting sessions" "BWAAAAHHHH WHEREZ MY .50 CAL WEAPONS BWAAAHHHH" "Removal of thermal vision guns forced me to quit DZ" "Why there are zombies when there are players to be killed" "I hate eating/drinking, remove it, game is too hard" "everything is too hard, fix it" "ADD BAZOOKA TO THE GAME" "1.7.7 server now with 750 vehicles, everyone spawns with sniper, +1000 % more antibiotics, regular pvp contests + ATV races"
  20. PK Richie

newby here! have some questions :)

Hives are the databases, some are shared so what you have on one can be transferred to the other, private are private so what happens on that server stays on that server. Vanilla means it's how the game is released, plain :) most private servers have added modifications such as strip vehicle parts, self blood bag, hundreds of extra vehicles etc
  21. This patch does remind me alot of when I started playing. It was before 1.4 or something. That was when I didn't even know that I could just run pass zeds and was sneaking around everywhere. So, it does bring back memories. However, you can never return to the past, no matter how much you might want to. So, while the mod is returning to that "golden age" when everything seemed to be about survival, the players have moved on. I don't have time to spend 3-4 hrs playing every other day, especially when it involves playing with friends. So, trying to justify playing 3-5 hours so that you can gear up on basic stuff and .... do what? Go north and ... do what? Camp around like all the douche snipers, killing people who are less geared than you? Create a camp and ... do what? Sit around and stare at each other? Hoard vehicles like another category of douches? Or go back south with l33t gear and kill bambis, yet another category of douche? If you stay out of the big cities, if you limit your exposure to pvp, - just doing these two things, its so easy to survive indefinitely. But is it fun? Its boring as hell. I really don't understand how hoarding, camping, or hiding in the woods are fun activities. It was fun when I first started (because as a noob, you are scared of getting into pvp) but now, after nearly a year of playing this mod, it's not something that I can go back to. So you hoard 8 cars for weeks, so what? So you survived 3 months with one character, so what? So your l33t camp was not raided for 3 months, so what? At the end of the day, you end up doing nothing and not even have fun doing it. tldr; survival was always easy but its boring as hell.

    Crates.

I was going to reply earlier, but the hat-banter is discouraging. Give me a wheelbarrow or shopping-trolly to move those crates (with a HELL of a lot of noise) and you've got yourself a deal. Also, maybe you shouldn't fit them in cars, just pickups, vans and trucks. That would mean different vehicles serve different purposes and each would be valued differently. Just a thought.
  23. methr1k2dop3

    Crates.

So in current mod the only way to stash items you find are in tents and vehicles. My question is are there any plans to have something more than tents? Crates? Safes? Simply hiding things in the ground? I heard a lot about underground bases maybe this is a solution? But i would like to see crates or boxes. and these crates and boxes cannot be in your inventory. You have to drag them. And spawn in grocery stores and in industrial buildings. A crate would carry a lot more gear than a tent or car. It would be a challenge to move into the forest. You could load crate into a car. Crates themselves would spawn things inside them. A crate full of beans would be highly valuable. A situation i would like to see: Just spawned Get into Electro. Walk into supermarket and find a crate with X amount of food. or anywhere for that matter. Struggle to secure it. ( killing zeds or making sure other survivors don't comes along) Struggle to move and load it up into a car. If you don't have the means of moving crate then just take what you need. I want to see something other than tents to store gear. i don't want to turn thread into about how easy it should be to get supplies. But i think realistically there will be situations in a real zombie apocalypse where you will come across a opportunity to have a great amount of supplies and the problem is securing and moving them. So you are faced with a situation to just grab what you can or invest time into getting the whole load. Seeing 10 tents randomly in the middle of forest adds a unrealist feel.

    To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7

Let me put it in perspective: I'm the player you find who survives solo for 3 weeks because I never held aggro. The type of player who keeps track of everyone in the cities because I can move through them without getting ANY zombie attention. The off chance I grabbed a bite, the aggro was lost within seconds. This game was hard, many, many months ago when I was a newbie. I persevered and as of the previous patch was completely able to work my way up from a lowly survivor to a full fledged surviving machine, finding meat, using smoke grenades/tin cans, rebuilding vehicles and locating the right loot. This has been drastically altered not by the addition of the new mechanics, but by the way they break the game.

    Are Helicopters worth the effort?

I'll never forget my first time. Spent hours and hours repairing a helicopter to fly it for 35 seconds before crashing. Greatest thrill ever. Biplane too. Now I can fly much better (but cannot land the biplane). It is very fun to fly around and I suggest trying it. What else are you going to do? Hide? Player kill? Survival is boring if there is nothing to do so I pretty much try to find a toolbox and fix vehicles, that's a challenge. And learning how to fly.
