suggestions classes or skilltree and other stuff

I always wanted players to assign their own classes in a sort of group. Like one guy might instantly decide to be medic and carry the majority of the groups meds around. Another guy might decide to be the engineer because he likes driving, brake it you fix it sort of deal. One guy might prefer sniping, another guy might like CQC so he grabs a shotgun. If you are on your own you're probably going to struggle to medicate, and defend yourself to the maximum extent let alone being able to repair vehicles. -

There is no teaching people how to fly in the SA, you're a survivor, not a know it all. Nobody can jump in a plane with 0 experience and just fly around and land, it's ridiculous.And of planes were on two servers that would NOT work, as those servers would be swarmed and the vehicles would be griefed/hidden to all Jesus. -
Yes, i know there are a million threads like this. The Mosin Nagant And SKS have already been confirmed for SA, but here's a few that would probably be a common sight in the hands of Civilians in eastern countries that probably haven't been added Nagant 1895 - Probably not pratical, But i have one irl, And they were sold off as Surplus in the '50s TT-33 Browning HP Saiga Rifle - "sporternized" Akm PPS-43 - Would be a rare civil/police type drop. Mauser Type - Mauser type rifles were the most produced rifles ever. Most are now in Civil hands Pkm - I would like to see this replace the M240 Makarov PMM - (Pistol makarov modernized) - 15 round-capacity makarov Toz-194 - Russian Semi-auto shotgun. Basically the same as the M1014. Ks-23 - 23mm (6guage) Shotgun. Irl they are used by Russian Police and prison Guards. They can fire different Types of ammo including Non-lethal. Tear Gas launcher - Police drop. Clothing Ssh 40 helmet - Ww2 era Russian helmet still used today. The CDF didn't se them, but the Russian army did. Kevlar Helmet - Both USMC and CDF versions Balistic vest - Combination of kevlar vest and Backpack Vehicles Pickup PK - Pickup truck with a PKm mounted ontop the cabin. This is virtaully useless against, say, Lone survivors, but it would give some fighting chance against Helicopters and Other cars. Would be nice if it was just a modification of a Pickup. New vehicle Nerfs/changes Helis are easier to Destroy. In vietnam, Uh-1h's were Shot down by AK fire commonly, But in Arma, it takes around 5-6 akm mags to the Rotor to Knock one out. Fuel harder to find, Tires wear out, Bullets go through the sides, players take damage from crashes. Some way to fight off vehicles and heavily armed groups. Maybe an M79 Grenade launcher (1960's era pre-m203 40mm.) The thing is as big as a rifle, so it should take up your primary slot. In addition, M16 N203's should rarer. But anyway, It could fire tear gas ammo, or Similar Gas, to scare away threats. I mean, if your following a small group and get hit in the face with a gas canister, are you going to follow them? I think non-lethal weapons would reduce KOS, because the main reason i shoot people is pre-emtive self-defence. If i could tase someone, I wouldn't be shooting that guy with the makarov. Shooting from cars would also be sweet. Not saying i want this on release. These would be the types of things I would like to see in future updates. Welp thats my maga post. Kinda went off track from weapons, lol.

Greetings One And All! Today, Raccoon Platoon are proud to announce the launch of our brand new server. The server itself is a 50slot server located in France with the time set to GMT-4 with MANY unique scripts added by our very own and very awesome SilverShot. As a clan, we have been playing DayZ together now for quite a long time,playing various maps and value honest and fair play. Our admins are available most times of the day and are ready and willing to help with any requests from players. PvP is not only encouraged, we actively engage in it with other players ( and ourselvs if we have been drinking lol) however, we do not take part in any kind of spawn camping or killing of unarmed players (unless they try to follow us or be pests in general). Here is a list of some of the features that we provide on the server ( list not 100% complete) -> General: - Custom debug monitor - press scroll lock to toggle - Tents/Vehicles show the inventory counts and their maximum capacity (when facing them with the gear menu open) - You will be warned when going out of bounds on the map and killed if you do not return - Klen and Bash traders are safe zones, also you can only access your own gear. - Wrecks and Care Packages spawn with loot - Self bloodbag (3000 blood, 1/5 chance of infection) - Smelt 4 empty tins/cans into Scrap Metal at a fire - Smelt 4 whiskey bottles into Windscreen Glass at a fire - Smelt 1 civi clothing into a Sandbag at a fire -> Weather: - 25% chance for clear weather with no fog on server start - Ground Fog between 2.30am and 4.30am - Snows when overcast, foggy and not raining -> Combat: - Melee players/zeds - Press Ctrl+Spacebar or Shift+Spacebar (This will kill zombies and knockout players letting you search them and take their primary inventory) - Chloroform players - Toilet paper + filled water bottle (not boiled) - Slice an unconscious players throat with a razor - Take clothing from dead players - Czech Vest Pouch is also an explosive vest - No more force spawning. Controllable freefall and parachute - Auto refuel by landing on or near petrol stations without leaving the driver seat - Load Cargo - Parachute vehicles from aircraft the MV22 - Drop the vehicles inventory on a parachute - Requires 2 wood - Smoke pods toggle on planes (AN-2, MV-22 Osprey) -> Fun: - Chill out next to a tent - Dance and Exercise - Make a fire with wood and look at it (warm up faster) - Mountain Dew triggers the LSD effect from Takistan Life (best with full post processing) - Farm randomly spawns on the map with non-hostile AI soldier - Ride animals and Steer them at Farms (scroll on the AI soldier) - Load animals into the MV-22 at farms for parachute drop - Piggy back rides! ahhhh horses....i don't really see them to fit into this game. they wouldn't be much more than a neat alternative to vehicles, bikes and helos and therefore maybe far too time-consuming and complex to implement. but what do i know. reference: please RDR for the love of god

I actually wont write the other method as this should work, if not please let me know, and if you are confused on some of the things i have said also, let me know. its 2:30 am so im a little tired. As an ending note, animals are probably one of the less laggy things in dayz, vehicles, dead bodies, AI, custom scripts and others things of that sort are your main causes, be sure to restart your server every 3 hours for optimal performance. yes we do restart every 3 hours, but its very hard to even get a steady 75 players all the time. to much lag and dysnc. is there a way to delete dead bodies after a certain ammount of time? -
i don't think you quite got what I meant I am saying that the servers that have 10000 vehicles on them arnt really that fun because people are always camping the coast

Still hop in to DayZ public vanilla for a short session every two or three days, just to visit stashes and keep my survivor going. Occasionally I'll have a blowout and lone wolf a chopper or go walkabout for exotic loot. Tried a few mods as they arrived, but none captured my attention for long. Not least because so many private hive servers were unreliable, swapping mods or closing down without warning, plus I can't stand the CoD with a full pack and a million vehicles crap.

Flying a plane is NOTHING like driving a vehicle, you can't compare the two. I think air vehicles have no place in the SA. -

Some i don't think you will find at all. Police were issued weapons, you will most likley find AKs, Saigas, Makarovs and whatever kind of soviet pistol they have but not a WW2 PPS-43, i don't know how it is in russia but police forces usually have civilian versions of the military rifles that shoot semi only in cases where they need the firepower. Most often it's just pistols and in my country a MP5 for additional firepower. It can be a shotgun, smg or a semi auto armalite variant in the states. Why would you want to shoot down helicopters if there are flyable at all or even vehicles in the future of the SA. It would be a waste to destroy things that can't be replaced so easily. And the SA will be about survival and less "peevpee". You'll be happy if you find a bat to use ass a weapon. To quote a player in my old group while we were playing wasteland for a change of pace. He is a M4 fanatic and refuses to use anything else not shooting 5.56 or 7.62 NATO.

GamerBum Community The Facts The gamer bum community just consist of a couple of old dayz gamers that been playing for more than 2+ years.Gamer Bum's started about 1 year ago even before epoch.We have a teamspeak.We are strict in our gameplay but we still do have fun. Since we love the play dayz more in a hardcore mode, we decided we wanted a server that went with our own specs. We wanted to bring back the hardmode to dayz. Like certain specs of the server are: More zombies spawns!!!!. Personally it has been bumped up alot trust me :)Spawn with no backpack. Means no more 10 slot patrol pack.Balanced Vehicle spawns. Some vehicles that did spawn you have to buy them.Soon more will come since this is the first day of the server there will be more to come. Just come join our community we would like it to grow. I typically follow these basic guide lines. Is he in the same building/very close? If so is he armed? Is he communicating? - If He's armed, not communicating, and heading towards me or in the same room, i usaully shoot him. What gear does he have? - Typically i presume someone with a low-level gun like a shotgun or Ak-74 is hostile. Mostly noobs pick up these horrible guns, and most noobs KoS. I find i'm less likely to get shot from someone with a Sa58. However, ifcsomeone has a sniper rifle, they are almost always bandits (Unless its a CZ550) Does he have a vehicle? - Most vehicles i see get a few holes in the wheels Are there more than one? - I usually avoid groups unless given no other choice. Me and ny friends have scored some good victorys over a rival group on a server, but i usaully play alone, and if i engage other players, i usaully target lone-wolfs. -what has he been saying in side chat - KoS noobs seem to be anti-social. Bandits and groups always spam. -

My best day was a few months ago. I had just Download "Namalask" And found an Aks-74 and an M9. I was entering a warehouse complex when a hear a huey. Now, i realized these guys were bandits as they turned and Flew straight towards me. I ran into the complex and headed up one of the guard tower things. Once at the top, i found an M24 with one magazine. The heli was flying nice and straight to give the gunners a good shot. This was when all my ARMA hours payed off: i sqeezed the trigger, and a death message popped up. I hit one of the gunners! However withing 10secounds his body was falling from the heli and another bandit was in the gunner seat. I tried to shoot him out, but the huey was moving sparatically up and down now, so i ran down the tower and into a warehouse. The heli was determined to kill me, and it turned into a 20min standoff. I dispatched the zombies that followed me in, and switched back to my Ak. At this point, i look out the window and see a guy carrying a FAL NV scope coming towards me over a dam, and see in side chat: "Heli? Pick me up plz." I quickly tried to warn him, but the Bandit heli Took him out before he could escape. I guess at this point, they thought they just killed me, so they landed in a field nearby. I took this chance to get away. I ran outside - right into a ural. The thing was barely driveable, but good enough. I spped off towards the heli, Around the field, right behind it. At this point, they saw me and opened up with a PK and M4-type guns. But the ural kept moving. I jumped out, got in the heli, and started taking an insain amount of fire. By the time i got away, i was leaking fuel and smoking, But i had just stolen a huey from a group of bandits - At this point, i was jumping out of my seat (Yup, i was a noob) But this was just the start of my day. (BTW: this is a long story) I was flying around over the ocean, Taunting the wanna-be murderers when one of them says "Get him duane!" I look behind me and see an An-2 heading straight for me. I knew i couldn't outrun it, so i tried losing altitude - it just got closer. By the point it got to around 200m away, i turned the heli hard, going over top the kamikaze. The noob pilot tried to turn after ne, but stalled his plane out and crashed into the water. By this point, the heli was running on fumes, so i headed into the mountains. I ended putting the heli down and walked to a nearby town. I saw a GAZ parked outside a barracks, so i decided to check it out. I loked into the barracks, and 3 players were sitting in the hallway. 2 appeared to be bloodbagging eachother, while the other looked at me, and raised his AKS. I turned my AK to full and mowed them down. After looting them, i decided to take the AKS, as i used most of my AK-74 ammo against the heli. Just as i was leaving, i saw two of the Heki bandits died. I took my shiny new (red status) Gaz and headed back to where i stole the heli. Apon arrival, i found the two dead bandits and their formor ally looting them. AKS VS skin at point blank. None of them had much ammo and i ended up keeping my Ak. I saw another huey above (this was their allies coming to pick them up i believe) and decided to split. I headed up into the mountains with my GAz. I found a camp about 200m off the road, with 2 cars and about 5 tents. Apon looting, i equipped mysekf with a KSVK, M9SD and a G36 in my car. Then i noticed something in my car - 3 snatcgel charges. Someones Base had a very bad day. I drove into some forested area, and a KA-60 with an Ags-30 saw me. I tried to escape into the trees, but couldn't lose it. I fired rabdomly at it, with the mentality that if i couldn't shoot it down, then they weren't getting my KSVk ammo. I ended up swimming into the ocean so the couldn't get me loot before being blown up. Yes, this actaully happened. It was a private hive, but you still had to repair the vehicles, and no custom buildings. Considering at this point i had only killed one guy before this, this was a major win for me. I cuased the deaths of atleast 8 people and directly killed 5, plus captured a chopper, destroyed an AN-2, and demolished a (very rich) base. -
Hey guys, this is a double-up of a thread I have elsewhere - thinking that putting it here may lead to more discussion and whatnot! Basically, this is going to be a thread where I can share some of my experiences in Day Z, especially those regarding other players and my interactions with them in game. I'm going to copy and paste some stories that I've already put down, then will add them as I go depending on how much I play from here onwards. I loaded up an overwatch server to see what the difference was between it and vanilla, surprised to find that the military loot was much more broad in spectrum and convenient to locate. My friend and I hopped into a UAZ that was near the coast, just left in the middle of nowhere and set off to see the sights again. Finding our way to Devil's Castle, we ran across a jeep that was driving in the opposite direction. Quickly, we turned off the road and got out - weapons ready for a conflict if there was to be one; but not before shouting the classic 'Freindly!' call-sign, which we also got one in return. There were three men in total within the jeep, though they didn't seem all that friendly to us. Only one had the good grace to leave his vehicle to greet us, but they soon turned away and drove off about 200 meters away - leaving us with the impression that they didn't much care for us. Getting back into our UAZ and continuing on our way, I peeked out the back windshield and spotted a secondary cloud of dust, indicating that they were following us. Urging my friend to keep moving forwards and into the next treeline, we rushed back out and got behind some thick trees for cover. Once they were within range, I called out again, questioning why they were following us - only to hear their faint voices as they too exited their vehicles a mere 150 meters away. "Let's kill them." Oh, they were in for it now. I glanced at my partner, who lined up his sniper and took the first shot in retaliation, nailing the jeep with a loud clank. The three immediately went to take cover, but one sadly couldn't make it as I rinsed him thoroughly with a cleansing stream of hot lead. Now see, the thing about 14 year old bandits is that they typically don't think their cover through, nor about who they're messing with. It didn't take the sharpest eye to notice that they parked on an incline, the jeep having rather high suspension and in turn leaving them (as they've now gone prone behind it) rather open. With another few seconds of burst fire on their position, the three died - not a single shot having been fired in return. A fitting massacre to the silly, blood-thirsty teens. As for my second story... My partner and I parted ways soon after the conflict, mostly due to his need to shoot people on sight. I found another server, one that was still vanilla DayZ but with more buildings and such scattered throughout Chernarus. I spawned just east of Elektro, leading me to think that I may as well just go see what was going on in there. With the successive firing of sniper rifles and what sounded like an AK, I discretely made my way ip the southern side of Sniper Hill, spotting a couple of bandits hiding behind trees near each other. Seeing as I was completely unarmed, I decided to try and sneak up on them - hoping to snatch a gun from their bags and deal with them smartly. After about five minutes of careful crouching and rolling about, I ended up directly behind them - the two completely unaware of my presence. Now, this is where it got a bit interesting. As soon as I opened the bag of the nearest bandit, I noted that it made an odd noise. And that the UI for it was completely different to what I was used to seeing. This server was apparently very unique. So unique in fact that the two bandits were now completely alerted to my presence, due to the fact that it had just sounded as though I'd unzipped and flopped my junk out for the world to see - right beside their ears. They turned silently, looking at the unarmed survivor as he simply laid prone in the grass behind them - speechless. I took the initiative. "Well hello there!" Suffice it to say, they were amazed by the fact that I'd managed to sneak up on the two of them and get into their backpacks (which were both empty), offering me a sidearm and a hatchet to solve my peaceful nature. Accepting them with delight, I asked them what they were up to ( at this stage also noticing that the initial bandit turbans they were sporting had since disappeared within the draw distance, replaced with a camo outfit and a normal survivor's skin), trying to play off the fact that I had almost killed them if the circumstances were right. Seeing as they didn't kill me, I accepted their offer to hang out with them - another of their friends rocking up a few moments later with a Dragunov rifle, which I rather liked the look of. Nevertheless, these people weren't on my kill list any longer - as they certainly spared me. We headed off, down back to the shoreline where I had previously spotted a car in need of repairs. Foregoing them, we continued past and towards the unique compounds scattered throughout the server; a castle much like Devil's Castle, only the insides were all wrong - a hospital, some barracks and a factory replacing what would have been towers. We continued scavenging from these, slowly getting more and more geared up as we went until we finally said our goodbyes - my gear now primed for action. From having absolutely nothing, I came across a DMR, M14 AIM, Ghilli suit, a tonne of supplies and an interesting experience with what people usually think are the scum of the island. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spawned in cherno, managed to grab a machete and run off towards Balota to try and sneak through the hangars before heading up north. Flanked around the whole way, hearing a variety of gunfire - waiting for it to die down a bit before heading in for some looting. I tried to grab some things from the hangars, but the zombies were aggroing hard. I sprinted off and came across a barracks (not sure if that was unique to that server or not) which was filled completely and I mean COMPLETELY with survivor and bandit corpses. Obviously this was a hotspot for gunfights. As I turned around to run off, I noticed a survivor spawn in with a double barrelled shotgun, surrounded by the zombies that had been chasing me. He turned and looked at me, a man in a bandit skin (unfortunately) wielding a machete. I spoke over local chat, saying "Don't you dare shoot that at me. I'm friendly." he didn't respond and simply lined up before firing on me. I took a hit on the hip, but kept my legs and my consciousness surprisingly. I sprinted around the corner of the barracks, rather irate now. "Oh, you're so dead." I told him. The silly bambi comes running around the corner after me, only to take a machete to the knee and lose a leg. The next hit sealed the deal, as I dug the blunt blade into his thick skull, where what I assume his miniscule brain remained. Bleeding, vision blurring, I manage to say "I warned you." before the zombies pick me apart and drag me to death's hand. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After sorting my way through a crashed helicopter for a new weapon, leaving my old one for any whom might stumble across the site (which I mentioned in side chat the coordinates), I headed off to the NE Airfield, spotting that several people were meeting up there according to the side chat. I knew that if they were all meeting up without knowing one another beforehand, at least one would be willing to spare a bloodbag for me. Upon reaching the airfield however and setting up in several bushes, I heard the sounds of several guns firing off at one another. Turns out that the man that got to the rendezvous first also brought a bandit friend; setting up and waiting for the other two to arrive. Suffice it to say, things did not end well. The two friendlies died, but not without first dropping the first man's friend - before he himself logged to avoid death at my hands, after I stated in side chat "You shouldn't have done that." I waited it out for a while, knowing that the two friendlies were on their way back to grab their gear and hopefully bloodbag me. It took some time and some caution to get close enough to one of them to speak to them - my gun directed at his back just in case. Turned out that they were indeed 100% friendly, so after awhile I dropped my guard some. Unfortunately, we spent much too long dicking around there, the server lagging a little too hard for us to blood bag eachother properly without spending minutes doing it. This led to us being shot in the backs by an M14, the owner of which probably the guy that had logged earlier and reappeared under a different name ( that is my suspicion at least ). For that I am sorry, BrillBilly and Justin - that was a crappy call on my part to stick within that dangerous area for too long. I got you both killed again. I won't make the same mistake twice. How about you guys? Have you had any similar experiences? What about an opinion of what you'd have done in my position? Mind you, I am trying my very best not to be a KOSer in this game. After doing it for the entirety of my time on it before my long-as-hell hiatus, I'm going to be helping people more than killing them. Thoughts on this? Feel free to comment with anything you like, obviously. I'm up to any question or statement, I'll respond to anyone! TL;DR - I'm talking about my life in Day Z and sometimes I die and sometimes they die. :]

Databases dont handle teh animals any way. ok so im just going to assume you know the basics of adding custom scripts and shit. there is two ways that i THINK would do it. 1: I actually wont write the other method as this should work, if not please let me know, and if you are confused on some of the things i have said also, let me know. its 2:30 am so im a little tired. As an ending note, animals are probably one of the less laggy things in dayz, vehicles, dead bodies, AI, custom scripts and others things of that sort are your main causes, be sure to restart your server every 3 hours for optimal performance. -

Lol, another troll with absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The graphical improvements and interiors aren't even half the work that went into this thing. You're forgetting the inventory, the network architecture, the new zombies, the clothing system, the new health systems, the weapon attachments, changing all thread based objects to vehicles, diseases, zombie pathing which is still giving the team problems, fps and latency issues, which are actively preventing release, ect. Also, do you really think it's that simple to just take assets from a new engine and reverse engineer them for another game? The map is 225 sq km. A little "touch up"? Are you shitting me? Haha. If it's so damned easy, why don't you make your own game then? Huh? Have you ever made a video game map? Have you ever programmed even one single line of C++? I seriously doubt it. So you'll have to forgive me for believing the producer and the project lead of the game before I believe the personal opinion of laymans. Who are you again? Furthermore, if you aren't a fan of the game, then why the fuck are you even a member of the forums? You clearly wouldn't even be here if Dean Hall hadn't made this game in the first place. Clearly you're waiting for the Standalone just as much as anyone else here - the only difference is that you get butthurt when you don't get what you want because "waahhh I'm entitled and Dean Hall is a dick!"
