    Vehicle Direct Comms Idea

    Short and simple, on some military vehicles (land and air) add loudspeakers which can be set as a separate communication channel and have massively improved range and volume over standard direct comms. It'd be useful for players in helicopters mainly to communicate with people on the ground such as giving instructions to people (read holding them hostage and listing demands).

Some of them are: More Helicopters and vehicles: Yes, more helicopters and they're spread out all over the map, and we've added more cars too. Vehicle Scavenge: Steal full repaired parts off other vehicles and add them to yours? Ever feel like crippling someone's hidden car in the woods without gunfire? NOW YOU CAN! Steal that engine. Dynamic Helicopter Crashes: Hear that? Is that a helo?! CHASE IT. Every 15-20 minutes a random Mi-17/Huey will spawn and gravitate towards the area of players (within several large grids) before suddenly exploding and crashing into the ground full of loot and zombies! Or, for the more daring, they can be brought down with a single shot so get your Makarovs ready! But we've also re-added Care Packages!: Some friendly government has airdropped in crates just packed full of goodies! Some have food, others equipment, repair parts, ammunition and medical supplies! Variety of Custom Buildings and Loot Tables: Some new barracks and hangars added to spice up the NEAF, some more at NWAF (to make it even more dangerous) and a few choice weapons that have been added in for fun. New town in the South East: Yes, a new town on the coast, as well as barracks and fire stations placed on the map in unexpected towns. AIs: We've got male and female bandits and hero AIs. Bandits who will kill you if they see you, heroes who only shoot bandits, and soldier AIs who are armed to the teeth and will kill anybody. Don't try to get Klen unless you're in a big group with some big guns! Auto-fuel, full moon night and good weather available too. But don't think it's easier, it isn't. It's the same tougher zombies from 1.7.7.1 and the AIs in helis at the airfields aren't going to make things easy for you either! Yes before you ask "What is the point in no pvp" we like to say don't knock it till you try it. Of course the experience it's self will be not as you usually find DayZ to be but here at Ceasefire we try to offer a new experience.     DayZ 1.7.7.1 .Dev Bug List

    My tents and some vehicles are being duped across servers, I think this happens when the server restarts. I play on the NZ public HIVE which is vanilla DayZ 1.7.7.1 and when I put a tent down in X location on (for example) NZ 06, I can then log into any other NZ server and that tent, with all the gear inside it, will be in the same location across all NZ servers. This bug has also happened with a tractor as well. Parked it in X location, next day I login to different servers and the tractor was there every time. However, other vehicles I have repaired and parked somewhere remote have been disappearing... Not sure if theft, hacks, or bugs...

    Third party VoIP - yes or no?

    I think this is a different debate all together. I view dayZ as a game, because it does not simulate real life. I view a simulator as being something that would replicate real things. Flight simulators, for example, let you fly with all the characteristics that flying would entail. Arma2 would be a simulator due to it replicating battlefield tactics. DayZ on the other had is about a zombie take over, which is not realistic. There for the mod has become a game due to the nature of the environment the game takes place in. Plus simulators, while can be fun, are meant to teach, and let people learn. This mod has people that are playing for fun... and to a certain extent not learning (my opinion) what it takes to survive in this environment due to all the crying about KoS and PvP and DM references. To me this game is not about a zombie apoc, but a survival game set within a zombie apoc. Survival from anything and everyone. But at the base of this survival aspect is the means to find fun and enjoyment. And people are going to do that by playing with friends, on TS or any other VOIP program. Realism does have differing degrees. However, since i've explained my stance on why I think this mod is a game and not a sim, I am a firm believer that you cannot have realism just for the sake of realism. There has to be an ability to play the game. People being told they cannot use TS is a realistic feature that is just not attainable for a variety of reasons. Right now I only have a set period of maybe 1-2 hours to play the game per day. So when I get in game, I want to meet up with my buddies and run around doing god knows what. Does not mean I am going to be able to due to distance, equipping, or another of other things. But I don't want to get on and wonder, "Where are my buddies?" and then hope I stumble across them. I am going to get on TS, ask what server they are on, then where they are on the map. Then i'm going to determine if I can join up with them. If yes, then we're going to go PvP, loot, fix vehicles, or whatever it is we feel like doing. And if we PvP, we are definitely using TS (whether we die or not) to help us communicate and execute our tactics to the best of our ability. If this were a simulation then it would take a lot longer to fix vehicles, heal, even run across the map, much less put a long rifle inside a backpack with containers of ammo, and then run like you had nothing. This is a game.

    Why do you chose Dayz over Origins

    If any of you have played origins, its been made extremely easy and its focused on pvp. When I used to play I could find a DMR in a fire station every once in a while and it wouldn't be a rare thing for me to see. Not to mention the cities like Stary Vybor (which sounds like a copy of Stary Sobor) that you can find sniper rifles quite easily in. I've seen players leave with truck-loads of gear from simply loot cycling it for 10 mins. This results in everything being a shootout. The humanity system is also fucked up. You can kill on sight and still be a hero. A hero skin simply means he killed more bandits than survivors. You can choose what cities you spawn at, remember when you spawned somewhere shitty like Kamenka which meant you had to travel several kilometers just to get the loot that you would get easily if you spawned in Elektro? Not a problem in origins. There's a shitload of vehicles in Origins, it seems that every town I go to has at least one vehicle, and the bigger towns usually have several. Helicopters are not a rare sight at all. Its basicly one of those private hives with "EXTRA BARRACKS, SPAWN WITH RIFLE, 900 VEHICLES, HELI CRASHES EVERYWHERE!". The only way that someone can access your gear in your house is if they shoot you right when you open it, which can be avoided by simply making it atop a mountain or scouting the area before you go in. Otherwise your gear is completely safe, and you can store tons of it. 500 items and 10 guns, I believe. Salvation City is a city you can fly or take a boat to which is guarded by NPCs and contains end-game loot. It may sound like a challenge but its not hard at all to get there with the abundance of helicopters, and the NPCs there are retarded. Those who have played Arma II on veteran will know that NPCs can prove quite a challenge, but at Salvation they pretty much just let you shoot and take their gear. There are 3 drivable Urals that are filled to the brim with end-game, once you get there you pretty much have everything and you can just store the gear in your house and come back whenever you're low. Houses are also not hard to build, it took me about 30 mins to gather all the supplies for it. (Though I did have a friend to help me) I have played and enjoyed Origins but vanilla is better by far, as Origins is just a big-pvp festival. I have to admit that the Taviana map (without origins) is one of my favorites and if it was balanced out like Chernarus then I don't know which one would be better.
  11. hello every1 ive just started my own private server we have a few mods added -server has ai bandits,self bloodbag,removeclothes,towing,remove parts from vehicles,heli and vehicle gun reload,clear roads and custom buildings its a great server now all we need is other players to join us. it is password free, hosted in london, restart every 6 hours,side chat enabled,regular difficulty and on chenaurus. starting gear is g17 with mags 2 bandages ,bloodbag,morphine,painkillers,cooked meat,water bottle and a map we look forwrd to seeing you all also custom bases for teams of three and more and customized crash site loot and infected camp loot edit we have loads more scripts running now come along and check them out the ip is as one of my admins pointed out its not here lol -185.2.138.28:3408 Mr Mischief and friends

    This whole discussion, subject, issue, debate, is pointless and useless. There is NO WAY to enforce such a policy. And there is NO REASON why I should not be allowed to talk with my friends playing this game (whether they are in the game or not). Any form of trying to prevent third party VOIP is a form of censorship and will end badly for all parties involved. To the people who think that third party VOIP programs break realism, if you want realism, go out in the real world and play games. Paint-ball, hunting, fishing, camping, target-shooting. You cannot get more real than that. For a game, realism is great, but only to a certain point. After a certain point, realism starts affecting game-play ability. You want realism in this game, then repairing vehicles and choppers will take you DAYS/MONTHS to fix. Healing from a gun shot will take MONTHS to heal properly (not to mention a broken bone). So please. STOP THINKING that this would be good for the game and let this non-issue die.

We have a blown away the old server to create a FRESH SERVER starting at the 1.7.5 patch for Origins! This means: -Houses HAVE NOT been built yet -Vehicles are fresh and still available everywhere -Minimal to absolutely no lag due to less player made objects -Better opportunities to build your apocalypse empire!   15. Bumpedy Bump! :beans: The server is awesome and worth a try :thumbsup: . A LOT of additional buildings, most of them just fit right in! But some are not placed very well, in terms of tactic, spots, etc pp, compared to other buildings. NEAF and NWAF and some towns feel alot more 'realistic' now, but sometimes I feel like there are too many barracks in one location :| . Besides that it's a great setup for those who like the veteran difficulty. Zeds knock you off your feet quite often. No 3rd person, so no peeking around corners without being seen. Streetlights is a very good addition since nights can be tough and pretty dark. It also gives more of a realstic feel. Still others like the light too, so be carefull ;) - Autorefuel is not much of 'hardcore', but I'm ok with that since Zeds can hear you refill from pretty far away and makes refueling a single huey pretty exhausting. There is still alot of shiny stuff to get. Some vehicles in Stary Sobor, I saw a huey at NWAF, some vehicles at NEAF, just to give you some directions and info if you want to join B). The server runs smooth, good ping for EU-Players, but Americans and Aussies should be fine, too. Well ofcourse there is a lack of players because the server just started yesterday! Stop by and give it a try, you won't regret joining. :D

    Third person idea

    true, and aimbots are going to be a problem that they may never resolve, no need to add another potential exploit. I didn't consider this as personally i can manage quite well without being able to see my characters body, you can use free look to get a pretty good idea of your position even in first person. I'd really like to see them work to overcome the flaws of 1st person rather than try to nerf third person. Things that need to be fixed: The character needs more flexibility of movement, the ability to peek over walls and around corners in a slow and smooth action that reveals a minimum amount of the players head, another example being a position between prone and crouched that allows you to just see over tall grass without being blatently obvious. Better audio, more ability to place an enemies position through sound, Working rear view mirrors in vehicles and the ability to lean to the side when in a vehicle as often the corner pillar can severely obstruct your view. FOV is too limited in the current mod but that will be easily adjustable in the standalone so thats a step in the right direction. if they fix all that far more people would be willing to play on first person only servers, and we can just leave the third person servers alone.
  17. Is this a private hive? If this is a private hive you need to report it to the admin of those servers as it sounds like a database issue and so is a problem at their end. If its on the public hive then you should report it here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/140216-dayz-1771-dev-bug-list/ It shouldn't be possible for tents and vehicles to duplicate across multiple servers as each server has its own separate database that handles vehicles and tents. Best bet is to report it to the admins of those servers so they can investigate the issue and report it to the dev team with more info.

    Is TOH FM still in? Good thing compared to Arma 3 that has now problem to get the FM that you need to give only maybe two helicopters and it should already be in the engine. He hasn't talked about this lately probably because vehicles aren't included in the release but it'd be nice to hear about this again.

  21. Hey Dayz community, Just wanted to report some strange behaviour, and maybe get some explanations / confirmations from other people. Thus far the following has been happening to me: I have been playing on NZ servers, v1.7.7.1 and I am mostly focussed on repairing vehicles. I set up a couple tents on a server, and repaired an ATV and parked it there. Also found a tractor and parked it there too. When the server restarted the tents, ATV and tractor that I had saved to a certain server were duplicated across ALL NZ servers. I can log into any server and sure enough my stuff will be there, and not to mention there are a bunch of weapons and items in these vehicles as well. So I have a DMR in the tractor, + over 10 servers, each with a tractor = I can server hop and get 10 DMRs... Then I repair an Offroader and park it at camp. Instead of it now being saved to / appearing on all servers like my other things, it has disappeared... obviously I assume it was stolen and my camp compromised... So I set up another camp, way out in the northern mountains where no one will find it, then I spend a ton of time finding and repairing another offroader and park it at my new camp. I log in this morning (to the same spot on a couple different servers), sure enough the tents have duplicated across servers, but the offroader is missing again. I don't understand what's going on. I'm pretty sure my vehicles are being deleted / reset back to spawn when the server resets, but why are my tents being copied onto different servers? Why is my tractor copied across multiple servers, but not my offroader? Is anyone else having similar issues? All I really care about is whether this is a bug or not, since that would mean finding / repairing vehicles is a waste of time as they'll just keep disappearing and I'll stop doing it. If someone is stealing my stuff, fine, I'll change camp sites again, hide things better, blah blah... But with the tent / tractor behaviour, something is definitely wrong with how the servers are treating certain objects... right?

    Will the SA Ever Feel like This?

    I think more enterable buildings will add to that "learning dayz" feeling you speak of. It will feel more real once you can enter most structures. So will small changes to the map, like more northern areas to explore. Looting cars will be neat. I think the more options for clothing, helmets, etc. will increase game immersion as well. I know the early SA won't have vehicles, but I never really saw the point of them. Except for biks, atvs and motorbikes, as going off road feels more like "dayz" to me. I really liked when boiling water was added to the game. Just that one small mechanic made a lot of difference IMO as far as game immersion. I like the new combining ammo and flares as well. Haven't gotten to dig a stash yet, but I like where that is going. New content will be pumped into the basic SA with updates. This excites me. I hope there will be something that pertains to hunting. I often like going into the woods to survive in between my runs into higher pvp areas for other supplies and gear. But,as we've seen, added "difficulty" needs to be balanced. Creating zombie superheroes while then placing less axes in the game is moving the right side UP and the left side DOWN. It created a disparity where there wasn't one before. Zombies camping loot is still a big problem. I won't get into more of my 1.7.7 feelings. We are discussing the SA here I know. But if the SA remains balanced while adding new "difficulties", I think that the learning curve will still be satisfying. I'm still learning new ways of confronting and defending myself against bandits. Like today, I forgot to "f" off of "throw" and when a bandit surprised me in the train depot, I got away. But I waited outside to shoot him in the head, and I threw a can instead. LOL.

    A chance is still a chance. Even with 1.98% chance to spawn, it is possible to find even multiple antibiotics in multiple spawn nodes, even if the likeliness of that happening is virtually 0%. Players aren't supposed to be the main threat. It wasn't meant to be that way and I doubt that Rocket wants to make that the main thing about DayZ. (That's why there have been things that were supposed to encourage co-operation, like wrecked vehicles and not being able to use bloodbags on yourself.) Personally I hope that they don't raise the spawn rates for antibiotics, and won't turn the zombies back to "herp derp gonna catch player. hurr dat invincible player, gonna catch."

Most main parachutes take 600 to 1200 feet to open. The reserve parachute can open in less than 400 feet. The reserve absolute minimum would be around 700 feet to land without injury.     Will the SA Ever Feel like This?

    First thing I'm going to do when I log into Day Z. Find a weapon and go on a killing spree. Simply because I'm tired of people complaining about kill on sight. There are no laws in an apocalypse, combine that with the fact that this is an open world sandbox game and it's self explanatory. You will have new areas to explore, but still the same chernarus more or less so you aren't going to get much disorientation unless they spawn you in the forest someplace; which would be better IMO. The medical additions should hopefully make for an interesting experience and I suspect a lot of people will be rummaging through buildings for all the various weapons, clothing, and food/drink that they can find. Interesting ideas such as the need to poop and what not will add another element and make sure that you manage your diet and such, though I think this idea has been shelved; we'll see. I think a lot of people will be happy as long as the most hated bugs of the Mod have been fixed, and others will be disappointed with the non-existance of vehicles, but having new content added frequently will be welcomed. So in short ... No, you won't feel the same way about this game as you did about the mod. Simply because you've already experienced the mod, and grown accustom to its ways. The standalone just expands upon that. Edit: I don't play this game for the Zombies. I play it for the Post Apocalyptic Survival feel, and it's open-world sandbox nature. I don't think Zombies will ever feel "right" and they are and forever will be just a nuisance. I honestly don't care what they do to the Zombies as long as it doesn't get stupid like you not being able to fend them off with melee effectively or them hacking you down mid-sprint just because.
