the reason is - when there are not 100 of fixed vehicles on server, there are no players... COD-gamers want faster gameplay.... the best would be, a server with 1 exemplar of each vehicle and 1 heli... and for sure rare sniper-rifles... You can also shoot a wide ranged target with lee enfield+ iron sight ;) - I do not need a scope ;) when I do not know what I can do... I am camping on sniperhill east of electro with enfield and hitting targets near train-station... I often play, COD1+COD2+Red Orchestra 1+Darkest Hour ... THATS THE DIFFERENCE ^^ you learn shooting with iron sight... - there is no high tech stuff needed :D -

If I had stumbled on this post and read the comments, I wouldn't connect to this server, but wanted to give my 2 cents, having played on it for a fortnight.....this server is absolutely class. Best fun I have had so far in Dayz, and the player base is a nice mixture, some are cool guys and some are complete rage idiots, so it makes for good fun when you put one in someone's head. Since the re-IP, the numbers are lower, I guess it will take a few days for people to find it again, but I recommend playing on this server, it's really really good fun. I also play on the zombies.nu, for the token "hardcore fix", but for plenty of sniping/ambushing vehicles/robbing choppers etc, this is the place. -

There have been a lot of valid arguments. The problem is rather that those are completely disregarded. That's why I got a little stroppy here. The opposition is either to dumb or simply unwilling to agree to anything. How are you supposed to have a civilized discussion like that? You don't. The ones following this thread...well, there's no one else left anyway... might have noticed a thin slice of despise in my words against the TPV lovers here from time to time. That's not without a reason. I'll illustrate once more with a little story. I don't have much time to play but managed to do so for a couple of hours last sunday evening and yesterday as well. Tried DayZero Podagorsk for the first time on a 3DP off server. Played alone there for a while when an old gaming buddy, whith whom I used to play DayZ back in summer 2012 came online. At some point he wandered off to WarZ, found there some buddies and they formed a clan there, mostly PvP oriented. I had no interest in any of that. In fact I'd rather remove my eyelashes with pincers than going so low as to waste time AND money on such a pile of dung. At some point they jumped off WarZ again back to DayZ. Well, he skyped me to join their Teamspeak and play with them which I did. Well, guess what! Those guys played on one of those 500+ vehicles + custom bases with loads of weapons and donator packs servers, which almost every one of them had, mostly for PvP...well that means they go some place with their AS50s and shoot anything in sight and talk a lot of crap while doing that. They enjoyed themselves. I got bored quickly despite a few action packed moments with like others trying to crash helis in our spot and stuff like that. Logged off for the night. Next evening I went lonewolfing on Podagorsk again. Had some fun. Had to log off because server restart. The buddy came on and I joined his group again. Same game as last night. Conclusion: I despised WarZ. Therefore I despise people playing it because they obviously don't have something like standards and decency of gaming. Meeting some of those validated my prejudice...now it's not a prejudice anymore. People gaming shit must be a little shitty too. You can't play with shit without getting a little dirty. And if you're dirty, you probably played with shit too. That's why I tend to despise people a little who enjoy playing shitty video games. Regarding TPV I have to say that I didn't miss it much on Podagorsk. On the DayShit Server TPV was enabled of course. I did some whoring too, but I don't feel comfortable in TPV in general anymore and only felt to switch to it for looking at the new skin of my character and some whoring while beeing shot at or driving a vehicle. Looting even goes better in FPV because you can aim at the loot piles decently. Always had my problems with that in TPV. You can play DayZ almost perfectly while in FPV and especially driving vehicles and flying choppers is much more fun that way despite beeing somewhat more challenging. Play like a man! Play in FPV! You might finally have a reason to feel good about yourself. -

The simple fact is, the folks who are expecting SA to be anything like their "million vehicles" and "spawn with lightsaber" servers, are going to be SERIOUSLY disappointed. It'll be awesome. :lol: There will be feet-stamping and there will be tears. I trust Rocket's plan. And I trust that he's not going to deviate from it to please anyone. The mod may be dying a death, but our real DayZ experience is just around the corner. We just have to be patient. -

I like modding, allowing people to create new weapons, new vehicles, new maps, new features, modify existing items, basically almost anything they want. Modding for standalone, yes, they had better. Maybe not at first. -

THG Events ABOUT EVENTS Events are organized by admins to give players something different to do. Sometimes they are just organized on the spot, other times, they require you to sign up on the forums. Most events require group play and communication, so it's best to have a team already formed and access to some kind of VON program (remember you can use the one in General Info). HUNTER PREY In Hunter/Prey, a player is chosen among those who wish to participate and becomes the Prey. Every other participant is a Hunter. After the Prey has been selected, he has to choose a "Hunting Ground", a reduced section of the map where the hunt will take place (one square mile or less). The Prey gets a free-loudout to defend himself, a vehicle (that he has to park between 100-200 meters of his hiding spot) and a rare skin (to make him easy to identify). Hunters participate with whatever gear they have on themselves or can choose weapons from admin created medium yield boxes. Their objective is to kill or capture the prey, whichever hunter accomplishes this, becomes the new prey, thus starting the event anew. In case the Prey manages to eliminate all hunters in the Hunting Ground, he retains the title of Prey. Hunters killed by other hunters may get teleported back to the Hunting Ground. They can grab any gear left in the box or go back to their bodies, it's up to them. Hunters killed by the Prey can't be teleported back, but they can still participate if they make their own way to the Hunting Ground. Each "round" lasts until the prey is killed or captured or until all hunters have been eliminated from the Hunting Ground. The rounds repeat as long as there's enough players willing to participate and admins willing to supervise the event. BRIDGE DOMINANCE In Bridge Dominance, the admins will populate the Maruko/NE Island bridge with wreckage and ambient effects. This will turn the first stretch of the bridge in an unpassable, close quarter combat area and create two "spawning" areas on each side. The event can be played out in two ways: Total Dominance - The two teams strive to reach the other side of the bridge. Whoever manages to breach the others base and destroy their vehicles wins. Resource Dominance - Standed in the middle of the bridge is a Refuel URAL, each team will have to fill empty jerry cans (found at their starting areas) with fuel at it and bring them back to their base while fighting off the other team. Whichever team has the most fuel when the event ends wins. In either case, both teams start with three vehicles loaded with medium yield weapons and supplies. Whenever a player dies, he'll be teleported back to his team's base, up until the point where said base is breached. EGG-HUNT In Egg-Hunt, the admins will hide boxes with goodies in an area of the map and invite everyone to try and find them! It's up to you if you'll share with your fellow hunter or want all the loot for yourself! TRADE HUB In Trade Hub, the admins will fortify an area of the map and organize a trading post for players to negotiate for different items they may have trouble finding in-game. Admins will trade absolutely everything... for a price. WILD DOGS Who doesn't like dogs? YOU! Wild dogs will spawn nearby areas where there has been carnage. They are also attracted to gun-fire and bodies. They are relentless and will do their best to eat you. Dogs do not deal blood damage, instead, they'll just bite away at your limbs until they manage to bring you down. Usually, it takes three hits for them to kill a human, so watch out! PRECISION JUMPING In Precision Jumping, an admin will spawn in a C130 and invite players to join him in a massive HALO jump. Whoever lands closest to the designated target gets a reward! Bear in mind, there can only be ONE winner. If two or more people make it, they must fight to the death! -

THG Server Scripts Our server has an assortment of community and custom scripts, here you'll find a brief description of the most important ones. Towing and Lifting: You can tow vehicles to other vehicles (usually only large vehicles can TOW, but there are some exceptions). You can also lift most vehicles using helicopters (Littebirds can't). Vehicle Scavenging: You can remove parts from vehicles as long as they are completely green. You'll need a toolbox for this. Siphon Fuel: You can siphon fuel out of vehicles as long as you have an empty jerry can and the vehicle has enough fuel to fill it (around 20 liters). Remove Clothes: You can remove ghillies and camo clothing from dead players. There's a chance they'll tear! Self-Bloodbag: You can use bloodbags on yourself. They don't heal as much and have a long cooldown, you also need to be out of combat and remain still while performing the action. Study-Body: You can use the study body command on a dead player to get info on him in the form of a prompt on the top-right corner of your screen. Less Zombies: Our server has a reduced number of zombies in order to improve performance. They spawn at, roughly, 250 meters. Weapons: This server sports almost every weapon allowed in DayZ Lingor, most of them can be bound in barracks, but some are only found in heli-crashes. Day/Night: Admins can control the time of the day, if the server wants it, we can make it night without having to restart. We can, in the same way, make it day without a hassle. Extra Vehicles: Our server has the LAV25-HQ and the BTR90-HQ as well as armored M2 and TOW humvees, PKT trucks and a several helicopter types. -

Our powers are there for the benefit of the server. Admins with their tools activated aren't "playing", they are doing admin work. When an admin stops doing whatever he has to do, he deactivates his tools and goes back to being a regular player. Whatever you may think, this is what happens. We could still do everything we can do with BluePhoenix's Tools by using the database or custom scripts. It's a matter of trust. If you don't believe we play fair, then you'll have to look for another server. You my friend doesn't understand the meaning of "genre". I came to DayZ to play an intense zombie mmo and quite frankly, all those kind of shitty mods and servers with thousands of weapon and vehicles have been watering down my experience so far since vanilla and true DayZ servers are now relicts and its very rarely that I experience what I came for. If this is the kind of servers and mods you come and play in DayZ, why not just play Arma? -

This is what I mean. People claim to want the "wilderness survival" aspect of the game, but quickly grow bored of it when it becomes difficult. That's what DayZ is. You want all those vehicles and weapons? You also have ARMA 2. -
I know people are already frothing at the mouth and screaming for my blood just for suggesting making the whole 'jogging simulator' aspect even more so. But hear me out. Right now, characters run at an artificially-raised speed of like 19 kilometres per hour. That's marathon-runner speed levels. While carrying fully kit/backpack. It's simply unrealistic. But the 'unrealistic' is not the hinging point of this argument. It can take under half an hour to make it from Cherno to Elektro. That's running speed. Never slowing down. Never tiring. You run in, you run out. Maybe you can't sprint if zombies get close. Waaaah. But it also 'speeds up' DayZ itself with artificially high long-distance running times. Zombies are a threat when they can outrun the player. So right now? Never. Just run through the trees, zig zag some. Eventually they'll lose interest and leave you alone. But what if we had a lower running speed and an actual sprint button independant of running? For a start, let's assume that zombies can sprint, too. You run from point A, to point B. Full-tilt. Don't stop. Run into a building to start looting like a good little survivor. And then you get spotted by a zombie. This zombie has been ambling around the area for ages. He's well-rested, foaming at the mouth looking for your blood, and most importantly, he can sprint. You, on the other hand, just ran eight miles through forest, up and down hills, wasted no time in entering the building, and are now fairly exhausted, and more than a little fucked. You try to sprint, you run slow, like the floor is made of bread dough. Mr Zombie, however, has none of these problems, sprint-tackles you, and proceeds to eat your goddamn face. Now measure that against a more cautious approach. You run over land, same pace as before. But you stop in the treeline and observe the spot you want to loot for a few minutes. Your character recovers stamina. You run into the building, you loot, you get seen by the zombie. But then you sprint away. You outrun the zombie because you're not completely exhausted from all that running. And yes, this specific trait is already visible in the arma 2 mod, but not at any real tangible level. I've never considered preserving my spint ability for outrunning zombies. Now, if zombies ran slightly faster than people on a normal, non-sprint basis, because they aren't weighed down by a heavy pack... Slowing down running speed would also have other effects. Running from Cherno to the northwest airfield will no longer be a trip but a journey. Food and water supplies, while lasting the same time, will not last the same distance. You will no longer think of a journey to another town as a short trip, but rather, a carefully-planned voyage. You will need to watch your water supplies, your food stocks. A few tins of beans and a canteen of water won't get you from one corner of the map to the other. You won't be able to afford to avoid certain loot spots because you 'have enough' food and water to get anywhere you want to. When you die, it won't be a case of running into a building, picking up a few tins of soda and some crisps and running back to where you died. Each trip will require a certain amount of planning. A journey to the north west airfield might very well want you to leave that extra weapon behind because you just might need those extra cans of soda. And by extension, lowering the running speed will make the world feel larger. For instance, running from Cherno to Elektro? Absolutely nothing. SWIMMING to an island? 'Someone please just kill me now because this is taking so goddamn long.' Those water holes you see on the map and ignore for the most part? They'll become an invaluable resource. Travelled by survivors and haunted by bandits. There will be no more 'running through Elektro', because you'll need that sprint to get away from zombies. Slowing down the player will slow down the game, which in turns, makes it more methodical and less 'run and run and run'. Not to mention that vehicles will easily double in value if the player runs slower. Hell, even a bicycle would become valuable. I dislike jogging simulation as much as the next person. But I think having 'realistic' running and sprinting in DayZ would make it a lot more than deep than it is now.

Does anyone even remember vanilla DayZ at this point? It seems the only thing left is alternate maps with 400+ vehicles, 20 helicopters, extra weapon spawns, start with hatchet and knife, a pistol, bandages, food and water. When I think of DayZ, that's what I'm starting to think of. Those garbage, watered-down servers built for casual gamers. The worst kind of casual gamers. I have nothing against casual gamers, but I sure have a chip on my shoulder for them ever since they started invading DayZ. They've watered down the entire experience, completely. Servers that operate in a 'vanilla' state are largely ignored now. They're left in favour of these casual servers with quick thrills and cheap action. Dare I say 'CoD serves'. The entire point of a DayZ encounter is that it's risky. You've spent days collecting all that junk you're carrying. You've killed zombies and people for that gear. You've run clear across the map to get all that stuff. You're attached to it, it's yours. Nowadays, when you die, you just ran through Elektro and looted all the bodies. So your character has no worth. Survival is a joke. You're not fighting the elements and the zombies. You're not surviving the world. You're surviving whatever CoD player looking for cheap thrills is shooting at you. The metagame has become the biggest obstacle to survival. When was the last time any of you crept on your stomach through a zombie-infested field towards a house, praying that there would be a makarov in there? When was the last time that you heard a footstep too ordered and quick to be a zombie and just about shit your pants? When was the last time you heard gunfire in the distance and ran away from it because you didn't want to lose your gear? But don't worry. You've got 400 vehicles, 20 helicopters, 24/7 daylight, and donation weapons to keep you happy with the CoD-servers. The standalone cannot come soon enough.

The day they do allow modding, and it will eventually happen, is the day the game will start turning into a generic, watered down version of itself. It's inevitable really. Give people a choice and most will rather play on a server with a million vehicles and choppers and 24/7 daylight. Aside from new islands/maps, which we can expect for SA anyway, personally I don't see the need for modding at all. -

Without other mods and maps the interest in DayZ would have dropped off significantly. I am not a fan of some of the 10,000 vehicles, spawn with a DMR servers but i am comforted by the fact there will be a lot of tears and butthurt from players who go from those servers to the SA. -

The mods now are complete crap and are getting worse. Hundreds of thousands of high powered weapons and vehicles litter the coast. Every new mod that comes out has crazy scripts, way too many vehicles, and a plethora of weapons and ammo. It's just a massive PVP fest with the occasional zombie in the way. Now, you're going to say "If you don't like a mod, don't play it" Problem is, for every new mod that comes out..it takes more and more players away from the Vanilla version of the mod. The actual survival mod that Rocket and team put together. There are only a handful of Vanilla servers that stay populated now. Server numbers and mods are killing what DayZ is supposed to be. I love to watch streamers on one monitor while I play other games, but the last year or so I've been watching nothing but dog fighting in Bi-planes and C-130 bombing runs over the cities. Remember the days when you were excited to find a Makarov, or a bandage, or binocs? M4's are now considered items to be left behind. DayZero is the closest to regular vanilla there is right now, I enjoy it..but again..too many hospitals and military area's. /endrant. -
All new custom map features have just now been added, come join and check them out today! Vehicles spawns are still in beta, but we have rMod spawning in cool working vehicles automatically right now. Well, for me... I must admit that I am serious Dayz fan boy and I will probably get the SA no matter what. But I have my doubts and I hope that Rocket is really using the support he is enjoying atm and that he is gonna deliver... but it has to be some point in the near future, cuz time is not on his side... mods are gonna walk all over SA if he keeps up this pace ... Chernarus plus is awesome cosmetic rework... but its still all too familiar chernarus... mods have Namalsk, Taviana, Takistan, Podagorsk, in arma 3 Stratis and Altis.... and all the vehicles with better physics... I'll just have to wait until the proper release to make my judgement i guess... how will zombies or vehicles preform in SA is a big question mark -

I have opposite problem... 5 of my friends bought arma 2 just because Dayz and they loved it . At first they all said they are buying SA 100%... right now... they lost faith in Rocket or SA, and said they won't even buy it, we all already have arma 3 and looking forward to Arma 3 mods. For SA, my friends feel like they are gonna get a buggy game ... with no vehicles or mod support. I myself (big dayz fan) have my doubts... mainly because Rocket seems lost in all the work... with all the promises, and than quickly changing to "i don't really know"... SA list of features is very short (compared to mods that you can already play) I mean SA could sink like a titanic if Rocket doesn't deliver on those few features.... and they have to be spot on, to justify the long wait and the lack of vehicles and other features... It would seriously suck if the zombies didn't really work properly, or game would eat up your FPS with all the zombies at once on the map ( I am not even sure i like that idea of limited zombies... once you clear places like airfield... there wouldn't be any zombies there, not sure if that is a good thing). I would say hold on till after the release before selling SA to your friends... cuz right now SA has only list of wishes... not features.
