These Vehicles And Clothing - Lore Friendly Suggestion

So these were just 'lore' friendly and not gameplay friendly.I can understand that, they should be the often wrecked beyond repair vehicles we see instead of the Humvees in the mod. I'm all for the possibility to modify your vehicle to the point it could be almost on par with a military jeep. Of course it should have its downfalls such as very small FOV and only small metal slits. A perfectly aimed shot can go through the slit :) there should be scrap metal, some of this would be certain thicknesses of steel. Most could probably stop .22 or 9mm, enough thickness should stop 5.56 even more should stop 7.62 More weight = go slower, less acceleration and more fuel consumption. Easiest modifications should be filling tires with a material like gravel/ sand or something lighter to have run flats/ improvised bulletproof tires (hold out for a good 30 mins of driving after shot). Any light zombie proofing like chicken wire over all the windows. Some sort of cow catcher that forces zombies to go under your vehicle is needed in my opinion, hitting something in a car should often have it going over the bonnet and into your windscreen, making driving very difficult on first person only. Any gun you can find should be somehow mountable, maybe you could rig something up with the bipod mount and the wheel off a trolley/ jack to create a sort of all direction ball joint to stick your gun on. Fit offroad tires to make those civilian cars more all round? I would like to see in vehicle shooting and moving around while seated. For boats I would really like to see the ability to stand up and walk around on it a bit of piracy in the water as you run off your boat onto someones freshly crippled boat, gun many down and then run in with an oar. -
You Get What You Pay For Survival Servers, Dayz.st, Hfbservers, Vilayer

Figured I would make this post for anybody who is looking for a decent server provider as I found some VERY interesting results. After I took the time to play on servers from the 4 companies I put in the title Survival Servers, Dayz.st, Hfb servers, And Vilayer I figured I would post my results. Survival Servers= $30 base package Servers felt a bit slugish to me, joining was a bit slow, had gear saving issues, small periods of desync, But over all felt playable at best. This test was done while there was 7 people on the 40 slot server I joined. Player for a period of 30 mins found i had a total of about 30 seconds of yellow chain and 5-6 seconds of Red chain. Loading time took about 15-20 seconds to get into server {from point of "loading"} lost my beans and hatchet on disconnect and reconnect at end of play session. Amount of servers per machine= 16 Dayz.St=$30 Base Package Servers felt very sluggish at peak had load time of 48 seconds. Had periods of red chain desync for more then 10 seconds at a time. Gear did all save successfully. Once again playable at best and would not call one of their servers home. Play time 46mins Players 12 Servers per machine=20 Hfb servers=$35 Base Package Servers felt very responsive, very short load times `5 seconds, gear saved correctly, Noticed yellow desync for about 2 seconds. Play time 48mins players at start 8 at end of play session 26 {not sure where everybody came from} but once again at end of session dissconnect and reconnected faced `5 second load time. number of servers per machine=5 Vilayer=$39.30 with front page coupon Servers felt very responsive, once again short loading times `5 seconds, `10 seonds of yellow desync and `3 seconds of red. Gear saved correctly, play time 1 hour 15mins {found a chopper and could not help myself} players consistant 15 Servers per machine=5 So after all that let me draw some conclusions here. It appears that the newwer companies to the dayz server hosting market are running a lot of servers per machine {most likely too many} where as the original companies are running a lot less Dates below are when the companies started hosting DayZ servers. Survival servers | started August 20th Dayz.st | started September 8th Hfb Servers | started May 23rd {worth noting was the largest dayz provider in the USA at one point} Vilayer | started May 25th {was the largest EU provider around the time Hfb was the Largest USA provider} Seems to me your best bet is going with the companies that have been around the longest, and the ones that are not overselling their servers. Companies like Vilayer and Hfb have been around since the beggining of dayz as we know it, and are still around for a reason. They know what they are doing which is something these new providers do not. Dayz.st and Survival servers you are setting your self up for failure by running sooooooo many servers per machine. Now its time for me to say some things that have been on my mind and I want the owners of these companies I named in the post to see. Survival Servers. Please for the love of god stop bumping your own posts and replying to every little post in the attempts to keep your thread at the top. And please stop using your post as a update and support section :/ its just annoying. Also your title please stop posting things that you are not the only one to have then act like you are like the current "bliss 3.6 latest" Hfb has this, vilayer has this, and im pretty sure dayz.st has this. Dayz.st Pleast stop acting like you are this big shot multi millionaire who has started fortune 500 companies. You make posts about vilayer and hfb being "microscopic" in compairison to what you have done. Well here is your time, tell us, what have you done that is sooooooo much bigger then a company like vilayer that has been in the gsp industry for several years and has thousands of game servers. You seem to talk a bunch of crap but never have the proof to back it. From what i have seen all your .st sites they are not very big or even successful so yea. I think you are just full of crap. Hfb servers glad to see you and vilayer are sort of friends but please for the love of god GET A REAL FUCKING SITE your site looks like crap very generic and plain like a person took a template and just renamed everything. You site is crap plain and simple, And also raise your prices so you dont blend in with these low price over selling hosts like survival and dayz.st Vilayer glad to see you are working with hfb but please SPAWN THEIR SERVERS VEHICLES, Since you are the company running this dayz planet thing and have access to the dayz planet hive why cant you spawn vehicles for their servers, my server with them has been vehicleless for far too long where as the server I have with you always has vehicles. Also please give us changelogs when you make an update to the maps, I see "new version of xx out" yet I have no idea what to expect. Hell the amazing fallujah update that added a fuck load of loot and an even bigger fuckload of zombies would have been nice to know.... So yea that is my post. All in all if you want a good server to play on or to rent go with hfb and vilayer {no particular order} if you want a cheap server then go with survival servers or dayz.st -
Hi there! I'm from the UK, so looking for a UK or EU server that is faithfull to the original Dayz - so no 400+ vehicles, start with weapons, etc. Thanks Edit. Also, I can't seem to find any public hive servers for vanilla Dayz, when looking through Dayz Commander. Any ideas ?

All good suggestions. I suggest also looking for a place to hide your vehicle once you have it. If you don't know any good places I'll send you a map of areas where I hide my camps (Chernarus only). I prefer hiding in plain sight near urban areas over the much more common 'drive off into the forest' approach. Why I don't do that is because if people are just blundering through the forest on their way to somewhere, a vehicle and stash/tent stick out like a sore thumb. I personally don't strive for a helicopter or anything like that (even though I've had them many a time, they're just too much to hide/maintain/refuel). If my mates are with me without their vehicles I have my Old Hatchback to ferry them around. If I'm by myself I use my Old Bicycle (no fuel required ^_^) or I find a Motorcycle (love the old one) or an Atv. Then I park it somewhere where nobody would go for loot, off any common loot runs and right next to a non-descript shed or building (preferably surrounded by a fence or evergreens). Good luck again.. I've just recently bought Arma 2 and expansion and am fairly new to DayZ. I was playing on a German server that restarts every 80-90 minutes (with a minute counter and warning). 20 minutes before the server was about to restart I found a small working helicopter in a forest North of Guglovo (I believe it's was in the Black Forest, but I cannot confirm). I decided to try and fly it over to Elektrozavodsk, but I could only see it from a distance when the server had to restart. Relogging made me realise it doesn't save you being in a vehicle and I spawned on the ground I was flying above. Bummer. Now I have a few questions. Is it possible to save a vehicle for the server restart? It kind of sucks finding one 20 minutes before a restart. Is it server dependent that certain vehicles just spawn? Was it a spawn, or did I just steal it from someone else? How lucky was I exactly at finding that helicopter?

If we see that I would want it to be counter able, or else you would get a squad of invulnerable people running people geared top to tail over and then stealing their loot.That's the problem, anything even remotely safe/ powerful needs to be counterable, at which point you have RPG's spawning a little too often, I think it is too early to say what sort of vehicles we should get, but anything without guns and with light enough armour is pretty safe. I wouldn't like to put anything out of the picture but I think AA guns and stuff would definitely be silly considering there are no attack helicopters. If we do get anything with a mounted gun, it should have very rare ammo anyway. Makerov is all good :) SVD and all the assault rifles/ carbines are fine to be rare. The PKM though, needs to be very rare. Balaclavas would be awesome. If you REALLY want armoured up vehicles you should try some normal Arma 2/ Arma 3, both very good games on their own. -
Why is the goal; servers able to support 150 players?

Might be wrong in this, but I would assume servers capable of handling that many players would also have significantly better performance/higher loot/zombie/vehicle/etc capacity than servers that cap out at lower figures. Meaning they might work to get the server performance up to that kind of level in order to cap it at a lower level and vastly increase the zombie count, introduce vehicles and the like. -
If you're flying and the game restarts, assuming you don't die from whatever issue it is that kills people who disconnect in moving vehicles, you'll lose the chopper. Because it doesn't have a pilot, it usually crashes if it's a disconnect, so I would say it's the same for a restart, or just that a flying helicopter cannot be saved during a restart because of its location.

If you're driving a car and a restart occurs, you'll spawn back in a few meters back standing inside the car usually. When you go to walk, you're likely to break your legs unless you sprint before the game fully loads as players spawn in before vehicles and buildings (That's a pro tip for ya). A heli, if you're flying and it restarts, say buh-bye to your heli.

Bernharde I play on a server that restarts once every 24hrs and the vehicles are not moved/removed after restart. The only way that happens on my server is if the vehicle is completely destroyed, then next restart it is back at its spawn point/s. From the way you put it your server doesn't last very long. I suggest finding a better server if you can. On my server there is a "Save Vehicle" scroll option as well for storage, eg. stashes, tents etc. I suggest getting DayZ Commander, updating to the latest ArmA 2 patch and DayZ patch. Then find a server and see if it suits you. You can also try to contact the server owner or admin to inquire about the settings they have. Often it relies on whoever owns the server to determine restarts, saves etc. Also that helicopter may or may not have been the spawn. I would check later if you can. If its not there it may have belonged to someone else. Also try to scroll on a vehicle for a save option. If there is none, try what I said above. Good luck and I hope it works out. That the point though. We don't want them to take away the player kills. We stilll need bandits and people sucking in general. That is what makes this game so fun. I just want the experience to be everything that every one is hoping for. More stoy which helps becuase everyone is going to come up with somethung different as to why that zombie has a backpack ir other items. I never once said to get rid of the KOS. So stop jumping conclusions. :-P. Really once we have more zombies there would be more of a common goal. Also can't wait for them to implement the vehicles because that also supports a common goal.

That's what I am saying. Much rather have more zombies and other entities, than have a server running 150 players. 100 might not be too bad, but I like there being areas that feel secluded. People saying that it's hard to find other players, are forgetting or don't know about some of the features that will change that. Such as camps and places to store gear. That tends to spread people around the map more, and offers new encounter opportunities. When people are able to 'stake a claim' on areas of the map, it won't be hard to find them. Add to that vehicles, and the map will seem crowded quite fast. Like I said 75 max, is my suggestion. Seems like a happy medium, once other features are implemented. -

we're either going to get plenty of vehicles and VERY little gasoline, or an adequate amount of gasoline, and very few cars. Because it's not fucking epoch or GTA. Getting a running car is gonna be difficult, that's the way the game plays, We don't need "plenty of vehicles asap", because it's not going to change the fact that you're going to be fucking running EVERYWHERE regardless. -

Could DayZ be done better on a different engine?

I don't know much about engines and their capabilities, but the RV engine seems unique as far as I can tell and is probably our best bet. That's ignoring that the devs making the game are already familiar with RV so it makes things easier for everyone should they stick with what's familiar and proven to work. For me it's more noticeable with the firearms and vehicles than anything else. I don't care if Just Cause 2 had a map 500x larger, the vehicles were ugly, handled poorly, and the gunplay was as arcade as it comes. Does that make it a bad game? No, but it shows that just having one aspect (size) doesn't mean it can compete with the other aspects the RV engine brings. The vehicles in ArmA have, for the most part, working gauges and rendered insides for the entire vehicle and they handle "realistically" as well. It's obviously not dead-on, but it's better than most games and it causes for interesting gameplay. DayZ has a large map and later on will have vehicles along with more cities and over 90% of the buildings being enterable and persistent zombies and loot. What other game has all that and does it well on a different engine? In short: I don't think so. -
I don't think a place like Chernarus would have that big of a cultural side. Its mostly rural and their cities seem very basic. At best I could see a small museum dedicated to WWII as the Russians played a huge part in that war, but I doubt you could arm up at a place like that. Its not like they have more than a few bullets for guns in museums or even keep them in firing condition. It would be pretty funny to have this in game, have players think they hit the motherload then have both their hands blown off when they try to fire the old ass Type 96 they found with seventy year old rounds. Seriously, though, even at military bases in game most things have been looted so there wouldn't be much reason to have many weapons at all left over that were functional in a place like that. It could work as a place to have varied melee loot spawn, like maybe you find one sword, then next restart a spear or knife, next restart one of the vehicles has a few parts you could scavenge, next restart parts for some other type of crafting, something like that. If they are planning a really large city in the North it could be the cultural center of the country so who knows. Sounds interesting to just have a backdrop of stuffed tigers, polar bears and such while avoiding zombies.

I did not play the mod, and have only played about 18 hours of the standalone. Granted those 18 hours was in about 5 days over all. So far I like the game alot. Some may have already been suggested, but I am just retyping them as I think of them. A weather system, rain, snow etc... Navigation 1.) Compass needs to be tilted a little bit more towards the camera to make it easier to view the direction you are going, north south east and west are not to bad, but south south-west is another story.. 2.) Maps are fairly rare 3.) Ways to have your character learn Russian so the road signs can be translated. For example, if your guy finds a book called learning Russian pt 1, after you read it you will be able to read signs with small easy to understand letters, and then you find another book, you can decipher alittle more, and etc.. 4.) The more items you have the more weight you have, the more weight you have the faster your get tired, the more tired you are the slower you run Zombies 1.) More varities, like dogs for example. 2.) Zombie herds that roam the map in random areas. 3.) Zombie boss, a big zombie that has a small chance of spawning with the server reset, it drops rare loot, but would take many many people to kill it. (PVE endgame imo) 4.) fix the walk through walls, stairs bug 5.) make zombies more alert 6.) More zombies (most likely after optimization) 7.) If you knock out a zombie, when it gets up if the player is out of site it goes into search mode and walks around looking before going back to the default ai Food/Drink 1.) a Cooking system 2.) Better indicator to determine where you are on your food, water situation. Like a bar in the inventory screen that slowly drains 3.) Potential danger when eating uncooked/ruined food, esp meat 4.) The ability to poison food. 5.) More varities of food, possibly with an effect on a player, if you eat unhealthy food, maybe make the player more likely to get sick due to poor nutrition. Weapons/Armor/Clothes 1.) More Weapons, with all kinds of attachments, round types (tracers, exploding rounds, slugs, hollowpoints, etc) 2.) the ability to carry more than one primary weapon without having to hold on in your hand all the time, and dropping it to use an item 3.) Side holsters for pistols, not only chest 4.) More melee weapons. like a sword, throwing weapons, string to choke someone, etc... 5.) More defensive items, like a shield, body armor, etc... 6.) More types of clothes 7.) Patches to distinguish friend from foe, special moddable clothes (maybe through steam workshop?) you can select through customization, 8.) Remote control cars, maybe able to use them for recon, or booby traps 9.) Add the shotgun because im tired of seeing shells everywhere lol 10.) Shoes can play different roles, some shoes are better at sneaking, some are better at climbing, some are better at wading water Items 1.) Climbing rope that can be used as a ladder, but be attached to something in order to use 2.) fix items spawing in the sky (the ship wreck had a few of theese the last time I was there) Login/Log Off, Server swaps 1.) Once in combat, you must wait 3 minutes before logging out. (IE: you get handcuffed, hear a gun shot) 2.) Server swaps, Once you enter a server you have to stay there for an hour, once an hour has passed you can switch to a different one. If you logg off, you will not be able to switch server until the hour has passed (in game time) Bounty System 1.) BHy pressing P you can see the playes, they are highlighted different colors, Green = Friend(Ie Friends list) Gray = Non Friend, non aggressive at the moment, Red = Has had at least 2 - 3 kills during this server session, Blue = Hero 2 - 3 Bandit kills. This persists through server restarts, and server hops. Beside each name shows the patch that the user created for their uniform so they can be identified in the field, by a patch on their right or left shoulder. If you kill a friend, it is the same as killing a gray, unless the friend is a red. Resets on death. While Grey If you kill a green/grey, you either stay grey until you have meet the kill requirements to be red If you kill a Blue , you are automatically red If you kill a red, if you have meet the reuqirements you turn blue While Blue If you kill a green/grey, you go back to grey untill you have meet the requirements to become a red, unless your friend is also a red if you kill a Blue, You go red If you kill a red, you stay blue While Red If you kill a green,blue you stay red If you kill a blue, you stay red If you kill a red, you can go back to grey if You kill as many reds as you have killed the other three colors. Okay, not there is loot benefits here to discourage new player farming. 1.) Blue, players, and Red players get the rarest items, for killing each other (this is pvp endgame imo) The more kills the player you killed has the better chance you have of getting a good item. for example, 1 Kill - food or water or small amount of ammo, 2 kills, ammo clip, etc... (This is only lootable by the player making the killing shot) 2.) Grey players only drop what is in their backpack. Just like normal Map Updates 1.) More variatey on houses, Larger ceilings (houses just seem real small to me), more types of rooms 2.) Locked doors, can be lock picked to open them, must find or make lockpicking tools 3.) More building out in the middle of know where 4.) Safes that can be crakced, demlished, or the combination found.. NPCS Night Time Ideals 1.) Fix the Gamma trick so you are required to have a flashlight, headlamp, or other items to see in the dark 2.) Add more ways to see in the dark, night vision, the ability to create fires, vehicles with headlights, a generator to power bases, etc... My ideals so far.... Maybe alittle to far fetched but i think it would be interesting

Hi. I've never been a fan of grenades, I always removed them when making DM style maps for my friends and myself to play in OpF and the ArmA series. They are great when used tactfully, but there's something that always bugged me about people running around randomly throwing grenades, I guess I will have to adapt once they are in. I would prefer satchel charges, or some type of IED, so I can destroy peoples vehicles or high end loot buildings(preferably while people are inside looting) :P Even better they would come in handy for blowing up the hotels while there is 5 douchebags upstairs sniping unarmed spawns :lol: Regards.

You're making it sound like vehicles will help with that. In the mod it was already quite a hassle (time wise) to fix one up. You'd probably not have it any longer than a couple of days unless you play on an empty server. Clans are the way to go. Vehicles are still far off, regardless. I'm hoping for tents.

Respawning and more zombies... I need nothing more than that right now. Vehicles can wait after the basics of the game actually work properly. DayZ should be about the zombies not about hiking forever... :/

i just hope for something new :) and please dont add vehicles! ^^ vehicles should join in the beta :P but what i really wish is a message if somebody gets killed like dayz mod "xxx was killed" just to know who gets killed...so... maybe :)

And this is why the patches we are getting are small and don't add much in terms of weapons/vehicles and other added functionality. If they added more of that stuff the servers wouldn't be able to handle it and then we'd have people bitching about how unstable the servers are. So thank you for working on the underlying server issues instead of giving the cry babies more to cry about.
