The patch is Monday. However Vehicles have not been mentioned here AFAIK, and this would most likely be the first place..

As above - new experimental build (details here) should be up on Monday, release for everyone else will hopefully follow towards the end of the week. Can't comment on vehicles but I would be very surprised if they were in by the end of January.

The update on Monday is a fact, however I can't say anything about the Vehicles. The devs MAY have said something, but I haven't heard it if they have. Hope I could help :3

An experimental patch should be available sometime Monday and looking at Rocket's thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/165709-pending-changelog-experimental-branch-031114343/ you can see what things are to be implemented. I did not see the PC Gamer stream so can't comment on vehicles being added just yet, but i would be very surprised if it were end of January.

DayZ isn't very fun at the moment to be honest. That is not to say it won't be, but at the moment the game involves running around finding items, eating and drinking then once you are geared up you will get bored to the point where you'll be putting your character into positions in the hope that you will die and thus have something to do again. Of course it might be a bit more fun with another person to play with, but you'll not have much to do other than run around together and look for other people to do whatever with (there's no vehicles or bases or anything yet). I wouldn't buy it now, it's a bit boring.

Server IP: 103.18.206.66:2332 We are proud to present a brand new DayZ Epoch Server. As of this post, the server is one day old. After playing on many servers and encountering many admins that choose to abuse their powers, we have decided to make our own. Because of this, it is our promise that we will never use admin tools unless they are absoultely vital to solving an issue or improving the players experiance by catching and removing hackers from the gaming envrionment. We have chosen to keep the map as vanilla as possible whilst adding features that make your experiance as a player more enjoyable. The only custom Buildings at present are one extra barracks at eithier side of the NW airfield and Four barracks at the NE airfield. This provides players with plenty of loot whilst maintaing a balanced economy and encouraging pvp on the NE corner of the map. Features: Ai Missions 500+ Vehicles Trader Safe Zones Anti Theft System Take Clothes Self Bloodbag Auto Refuel Craft Pushbike from toolbox (can be repacked) 21 Day Building Decay Day and Night Cycles 8 barracks total (Four at NW airfield and Four at NE airfield) <-- This helps create a stable economy *** Note These are the Only custom buildings in the server Rules: No trader camping / Griefing No Combat Logging No Expoliting or Hacking No Using Safe Zones to avoid combat No building within 200m of a safezone -
So many choices of what to add. Paramedic clothing, as you said police, fireman's outfit (we got firestations right), more military ones (some western as well), huntsman complet and so many many more. The possibilities are almost endless and Im really looking forward to see what will be added during this year (clothing,weapons, vehicles, more towns, crafting, ilnesses etc).

Personally I hope to never see flying vehicles. The map seems pretty big until you get in a chopper. Then it's trivialized again. -

I would only like to see a couple more things in DayZ and I will be the happiest zombie in the world, Day/Night Cycle (If there is already then does it go by your timezone?),the delay of dropping things, zombies not being able to walk through walls, being able to go upstairs AND downstairs without seeing the "Open Door" sign for the door under you, vehicles, better jumping, take less fall damage from falling 4 feet from the ground, less controls, and lastly being able to rush up stairs/ladders. -
What i am about to say or try to , is what goes in my mind, and i have that right so before i say it keep your nerdy coments "already posted" ; "cant remember how much topics like this i read" ; "Its a alpha" ; "They cant to everything". I can´t care less if u are not interested in reading and critizicing this opinion of mine like a grown up go eat some cookie with milk. ************************* So guys i know they probably have to update more important thing and such but i have this in my head, so the game is becoming to boring after 5 days of gameplay, we start to do the same thing, RESPAWN, Loot into our inventory and KIll WITH 2 GUNS. I think theres 3 things that should be implemented as soon as possible in this order of urgency: Base/camp things : ( tents, wire, etc) : I realy feel the need to make a base with my friends, choosing a nice spot to do it so, and raid another bases, and getting importat gear to the tents. I play rust and i love so much that thing aboy making a base in a mountain, and doing it to the enemy cant acess it as much as possible! New guns -> I think its very important to search all map looking for that weapond that you just loove, right now there are 2 guns, and they spawn in every south city, thers not that need to get far to obtain a rare weapon Vehicles -> Right now only simple cars and some trucks (that obligate to make more loot like wheels , metal, glass , etc... Once this things are done as soon as possible i think EVERYONE will forget to come here asking for this and that, and the UPDATES will look like nothing i are realy ancious for... Woah please get your history right and Chernarus/Arma 2 'lore' as well! >:( There have been many posts regarding new weapons etc and some of them are just not authentic. Most of the community agree that there should be a selection of weapons that should be along the lines of this: :emptycan: There should be a supply of Civilian weapons that are common and are of Soviet/Russian/Eastern origin. This would include hunting rifles and bows, small caliber arms, personal defense weapons etc. :emptycan: There should also be Military weapons that are uncommon (only spawn in Mil areas) and are of Soviet/Russian/Eastern origin. This would include the AK series, TT series, OT-s series etc. :emptycan: Ok now any Western weapons or anything that doesn't fit into the Chernarussian landscape will be rare and can only be found in certain locations: Helicopter crash sites, western wrecks and vehicles etc. These would be scavenger or 'throw away weapons' that would be discarded after depletion of ammo. They could be scavenged for their western attachments and placed on an eastern weapon. As to the OPs suggestion of adding more WW2 era weapons into the game, the US/UK weapons would be absurd and not authentic. As for the German weapons.. not so much either. But more Russian weapons like the already implemented Mosin would fit nicely. But remember authenticity. There are so many posts asking for more western weapons like in the Mod which kills immersion. Hopefully the M4 and FNX become rare as the SA progresses. My two cents.. Sobaka TYS

This will probably get worked on when they rework on the vehicles from scratch. The tech for the vehicles is about 10 years old so this sets a lot of limits for them and the reason why it'll be redone for the appropriate engine and quality requirements.

FFS its not even been out for 5 weeks yet and there's has actually been 6 updates already (over the xmas/new years holidays don't forget). what did you expect? in beta by the 20th december and full release in January? how clueless can you be? I've seen far to many of these stupid comments I really wish people took the advice not to buy this unless they wanted to be PART OF ITS DEVELOPMENT aka not expecting to be playing a full featured game for quite some time. They put down a measly £20/$30 and all of a sudden assume they have the right to be rude to the developers (I own you now!) AND expect to dictate the games development schedule. Pity there isn't an automatic response offering them 2 choices, the cash back or stfu. As for these 1 time posters demanding vehicles... thats some other kind of special. TO ALL PEOPLE DEMANDING SPECIFIC FIXES etc Go play 1 of the other 10's of hundreds of pc games out there and come back in a month or 2. Be realistic not entitled. -
- Common zombie threats [Having to fight them or run from them regularly] For the most part, players often avoid them to save more ammo but this might make you more noticeable out in the distance in case a player is trying to kill you. Some times civilian zombies can drop items that can help you (Such as bandages, food, etc) .. Military zombies can drop some types of ammo. - Threat of players always around [Which has the most populated servers with great ping] The threat of players is something that should always be in the back of your mind. Don't take everyone as a threat unless your trust with them is completely ruined with your experience of playing the game, some players can be proven friendly and can help your overall survival. - Great amount of loot / faster respawns for loot/players Loot is quite easy to find, just depends on rarity. Loot's dispersed throughout enterable buildings and around destroyed vehicles(Helicopter crash sites, survivor camps) A little insight is that it's really up to your choice if you want to purchase Arma 2 for DayZ Mod or DayZ retail. The retail edition(for later development) is meant to fix most of the major issues that's represented in the mod that couldn't be fixed due to engine limitations, this may include: Hacking, performance issues, AI and others that I've missed. DayZ retail is quite early in development so it'll have some hiccups as well. The mod has a lot more to offer as of now but this might change quite soon.

Maybe people have been toughened up. By the way the Lee-Enfield fully deserved its "nerf". The only reason it was that powerful in the first place (1.6x the damage of .308) was an overlooked value by BIS. Here's the scoop: In Operation Flashpoint, they included Sopwith Camels as an easter egg. In Armed Assault, the Camels made a return. The Sopwith Camel, of course, has twin Vickers .303 machine guns. However this posed a problem, the Vickers would not be very powerful firing plain old .303, so BIS greatly increased the damage to allow people to shoot down other Camels easier (as well as destroy ground vehicles). They weren't supposed to be realistic anyways. Fast forward to ARMA 2, and someone gave the Lee-Enfield the highly overpowered Sopwith Camel ammunition from ARMA 1 instead of creating proper .303 ammo. Finally they got around to fixing up all the nonsensical damages for ARMA (Makarov over twice as powerful as M9, etc) and they gave the Lee proper damage. The Enfield fires a 174-gr bullet at 2,440 ft/s for a muzzle energy of 2,300 ft-lbs. The SVD fires a 152-gr bullet at 2,723 ft/s for a muzzle energy of 2,500 ft-lbs. The M24 fires a 175-gr bullet at 2,625 ft/s for a muzzle energy of 2,677 ft-lbs. Was 12,500 damage ever appropriate? I think not.

gingatsu, although I think your knowledge is cool and all, I do think you're getting a bit technical :P. I think in real life the place Chernarus is based off is landlocked, not by the coast. And from the state of the buildings and vehicles on the standalone, it appears its set some years in the future so anything could have happened since the infection spread. But you do make a good point that most weapons should be Russian based. I personally would like to see less weapons in the game. -

Okay, now that you have just demonstrated why it sucked to fix up a chopper in the MOD just to have the admin ditch (which actually happened to me and this is going to be the same in SA by the way). You should be able to see why treating the firearms like vehicles, tents, stashes, etc would be okay even with the public HIVE structure. I am not advocating private hive if you noticed, just gun control. This could be done on server by server basis. My guess is that you love taking those guns to other servers, right? Well not being able to take your guns would be a better fix for those problems previously discussed. The timer will only work in some specific instances, not for others. For example, you are on Elektro's famous sniper hill taking shots at someone down in the city. I am on the other hill across from you, so my combat timer doesn't get turned on..... I ghost in behind you because it is only a minute wait with the timer.....BAM your dead. Okay Okay make the timer longer right? This kinda starts to get ridiculous, no? Leaving the server adding additional minutes would hamper this but would make the game painfully slow for new players when finding a good server, I believe that this is a poor solution, but I will conceed that it would slow things down. Once you have a server you like then my solution seems to be/apply better. Since the reasons for changing servers frequently are moot when considering vehicles,tents, stashes, etc. They keep you married to that server anyway.

Greetings! Local military forces have moved into the area of Chernarus. In an attempt to slow the spread of the epidemic in surrounding areas, they are killing all life in the area that may possible be infected. THIS MEANS YOU! Most cities and towns have at least a small military presence. Military forces are launching operations all throughout the region. Survivors are maintaining a foothold in some areas, but even relative safety is very limited. Band together with your fellow survivors, or take advantage of the chaos to seize the best loot for your own survival. Current Mods: Trader Safe Zones DZAI Static AI Spawns (all using military skins) Dayz Chernarus AI Missions (Using DZAI, scripts modified for vs military theme) Server Rules: 1) Don't be a douche. 2) Don't cheat (see rule #1) 3) Survive Other info: -Over 20 missions -Missions have randomized loot, with a large array of possible gear available. -Missions may spawn AI with anti-vehicle sniper rifles. -Normal traders don't sell military weapons -Bandit and Hero traders sell a few mil weapons but do not sell Armed Helicopters -Server can spawn up to 185 vehicles, though many may be out of gas or completely destroyed. -No plot pole needed to build -No building maintenance required -Normal day night cycles with night time beginning around Midnight Eastern (GMT -9) -Server restarts every 6 hours. -
I think vehicles would temporary solve most of the problems. Tired of running? No problem, you found a bicycle. Glitched out on top of the roof and fell to your death? No problem your friend has a car and can help you regear real quick. List goes on and on.

10 minute is not enough to loot dead bodies you put down

Not its not plenty and what would you know about it? Lets hear how new you are to DayZ. Ever play the mod? Run a server? I started on the mod late 2012 and ran two servers not long after. Learned how to script, storyline based server with plenty of mods (no self blood bag bullcrap, no 500+ vehicles, no lift, etc). I strictly used Sarge AI and initially had the despawn timer set to 5 minutes. Seasoned players killing Sarge AI in Cherno found it nearly impossible to get to the body safely in 5 minutes. I didn't have many AI in Cherno, but they never knew that as they were just being cautious. I'm not talking about 1-2 players, we were populated 25-30 every night and had dozens of complaints. I changed the timer to 15 (or was it 20?) and worked out peachy. Mind you, I'm talking about players in Cherno, killing AI in Cherno and 5 minutes not being enough. Based on that alone, how can anyone be expected to get to his gear in 10 minutes is ludicrous. Possibility of a restart was less as well as commonplace was 12 hours, not 4. If the debs don't want you getting to your gear, despawn should be immediate. If they want people having a chance to get to their gear they need to extend the timer if they want people playing the new areas of the map. The ramifications of a 10 minute despawn timer is never ending cluster funk on the coast. I could have sworn I read that debs want to get people all over the map and away from the coast. If you die anywhere in the NW you can kiss your gear goodbye. You need a perfect route on a flat land run, unmolested, to make that distance in 10 minutes. People are going to stay away from area's that can't make it back to in 10 minutes. Doesn't take a rocket science to figure that one out. -

These things are important but it would be a very bad idea to keep adding content especially things like vehicles and bases before they get server performance and stability to where it needs to be. Also consider that these things are most likely being worked on already but they just simply take time, which should work out nice as by the time they are ready the guys working on the performance side of things should have made good progress. The games in a very early stage of development, we just have to be patient and accept there will be times when its not very playable whether due to bugs or simply a lack of content.

Clap your hands fanboys... For the develeopers... Are you kidding me? Who cares the Mosin's color guys? We have more serious deficiencies: - Game graphics are not stable. - BattlEye is not stable. - Hundreds of players cannot play game because of lag&desync problems. - Server Hopping and Combat Log. - Characters are resetting for no reason! - Duping items and characters. - There are many of graphic bugs in the game. - Game sounds are monotonous and have bugs. - Only 40 players on a huge map (And no vehicles!) - Amount of zombies? - Areas where we can store our items are needed. (For example, tents or holes in ground.) - There are not team play, and in group interaction tools. Game turned into "run baby run story". - Where is the survivability? Nature? Hunting? Animals? Of course I know, this is alpha and you need time...But your priority is, shoes? Spawn and run... Everyone was bored. People are just lurking and waiting in somewhere on the map. This is a simulation, and needs to teamwork. But How? How can be? How can players organize in a base? We support you still.. But we are waiting true steps from you. We need to fix the basic structure of game. Nevermind the makeup! Hopefully, you'll get it as a constructive criticism. Good Luck.
