    The ability for groups to control towns, block it off and control who enters and leaves. Make it a safezone etc Generators running on fuel can run lighting and water pumps. Oh and obviously the more you try to barricade and control the more you have to defend. It should also be destructible too....maybe driving vehicle's into barricades could destroy them or using axes could put a hole in it to sneak teams in to gain control....this then presents the danger of controlling too big a base. Fuel sources only regenerate every few months to make it scarce. This will encourage people to come out and hunt for it, fight and die for it. With fuel needed to run generators that keep towns running or fuel vehicles...this will create tension, fueds, trades and exploring. Cut trees down with axes for wooden planks or logs to be able to build cabins, treehouses, fences, blockades. Introduction of nature's dangers....leaches in water, ticks or snakes in the grass, all of which occur if you stay in one spot too long and bites can make you sick. This may help to stop people camping areas to Kos. If a sniper wants to camp an area and just kill for shits and giggles then make them work for it....try sniping with no anti-venom etc Add more dirt, mess and destruction around the place. For a place overrun with infected that probably caused mayhem, panic and chaos it looks awfully tidy. It needs fires, crashes, mess, blood...you know, all the things you see in the movies when the shit hits the fan. A bigger variant in buildings. Too many towns and buildings look the same. More realistic looking infected/zombies, more gore and grotesque please. The stones found around could be used to sharpen knives, bayonets and axes. Face scarfs and headwraps in the same colours as the bandanas are. This could then be used to display gang colours lol. Denim and leather waistcoats and a gerry helmet for biker gangs. Would be cool to see other gang type clothing instead of every group looking like military crews.

    Animations for inventory actions!

    I would say cool idea, but I would like alot more things first before they start to implement things like this. I want camps! Vehicles! Wild Life! Cooking! More and less bugged Zombies and more bug fixing! And Client optimization! Oh god.. Anyway.. After all those things, more fluid animations would be nice.

    - malice clips so you can wear a backpack and attach another smaller backpack to the back of that one or make it so you can put one on your back and one over your chest with movement penalties or increased thirst/hunger frequency. Malice clips would also allow for items to be attached to my backpack or my vest (like strapping an ammo can on the outside of the backpack instead of it taking up space inside). -molle straps and molle pouches would be great for backpacks and chest rigs, ballistic harnesses and increasing storage slots. So I could have a vest and fill all the pockets with things and attach say a molle magazine pouch to give me several extra slots for my m4 magazines. - a drop leg/hip holster would be awesome. No reason a pistol would be inside my backpack in a shtf situation like zombie apocalypse. and it would save me some about 6 slots (4 for pistol and 2 for spare mag) - I know its coming but storage... and bases can't get here quick nuff, I can only keep resupplying myself so many times - tactical recon items: spotting scopes for long range surveillance, rangefinders, helmet mounted flashlights - customize-able weapons - not high on the list, but I mean like more parts, as in longer barrels, better butt stocks (thinking Magpul UBR), angled foregrips, stubbies... also I haven't ever found an 8x scope, but putting one on an m4 should be an option (i've been told it doesn't work) because I use a 6-24 zoom on my irl AR and it works great. - multiple weapons on shoulders - my character is not an amputee yet, so I don't know why I can't sling one rifle over one shoulder and another over the other shoulder... or find a one point sling for my m4 and have it hanging on my side and my mosin slung across my back... which would keep my hands free. - I didn't play the mod so I don't know if there are snow levels, but a snow level would be amazing, would also be a great limiter for vehicles if it were to snow and vehicles would have problems with getting stuck or sliding out (rain and mud could also cause this problem) a weather element to game play that forced me to seek shelter/warmth over running all night/day and never worrying about hot or cold would be really cool in general. On that note, a need for sleep once in a while, not hours of it, but you could make it so I have to find shelter and be in a sleeping bag/bed when I leave a server to recuperate, which could be a solution to combat logging/server loot hopping... - I dunno, just work faster this game is a lot of fun. also whoever said duct taping an acog onto a 357 magnum that's absurd (your duct taping knives to guns idea is solid though). Duct taping a rifle optic to a pistol would be impossibly inaccurate. A scope is mounted to a rifle via a rail such as the one milled on an m4 receiver, or holes drilled into a bolt action receiver and a rail mount screwed into those holes. The recoil of even a .357 magnum would result in knicks all over the barrel and damage to the optic because of the insecure (specifically, loose) manner that it was mounted and your shot placement and scope zero would never be the same (meaning the chevron in your acog would not be where the bullet would hit because it isn't stable at all). You would also be unable to reload the revolver without removing the duct tape each time as the duct tape would cover some important parts that need to swing off the barrel to allow the cylinder to swing free of the action. I could maybe get behind them adding a welding feature to the game so you could weld things together to make weapons or enhance/fix/break weapons, but duct tapes and the major (specifically the metal components of weapons don't mix too well).

    after reading the topic i do kinda agree with the poster, i played the DayZ mod as i bought it in the winter sale (after owning standalone and player 20+ hours) and immediately on the mod (epoch) on a private hive, after using side chat for asking help with what is this for, where is a good place to get loot, do i need a toolbox for this etc... i have met someone in game who has driven over to meet me, and helped me out a bunch with gear and food, then i managed to join a group of 4 who have bases an army of vehicles etc. everyone is freindly even the person that killed me cuz he thought i was trying to run him down at NWAF. And yet in the standalone the only freindlies i have met are those without weapons because they know its futile trying to kill someone with anything other than Axe of firearm. i dont like this it makes me sad, hopefully when there are objectives like basebuilding and so on then people will be to busy with that to kill others

    Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition

    I like the story and its mood. Immediately I remembered Namalsk!! I loved the harsh conditions there and that you had to find warm clothing to survive in freezing snowy areas. Would definitely love if map got expanded north, some bigger mountains were added, ofcourse snow and blizzards! Also the roads would be in such bad shape you could not use any vehicles and had to do the trek on foot. And yes, at the very end, there could be the prize, some military or research facility with some goodies. Problem would be, that there would be no food there which, althought not very logical, would mean you could not camp it there and instead grab what you could and head back south to warmer climate. Now I know this will be bashed by some folks, to whom this will "smell" of endgame, but consider atleast the snowy and very harsh part of map, where you would definitely need special gear (winter jacket, fur hat etc) to survive.

In an attempt to slow the spread of the epidemic in surrounding areas, they are killing all life in the area that may possible be infected. THIS MEANS YOU! Most cities and towns have at least a small military presence. Military forces are launching operations all throughout the region. Survivors are maintaining a foothold in some areas, but even relative safety is very limited. Band together with your fellow survivors, or take advantage of the chaos to seize the best loot for your own survival. Current Mods: Trader Safe Zones DZAI Static AI Spawns (all using military skins) Dayz Chernarus AI Missions (Using DZAI, scripts modified for vs military theme) Server Rules: 1) Don't be a douche. 2) Don't cheat (see rule #1) 3) Survive Other info: -Over 20 missions -Missions have randomized loot, with a large array of possible gear available. -Missions may spawn AI with anti-vehicle sniper rifles. -Normal traders don't sell military weapons -Bandit and Hero traders sell a few mil weapons but do not sell Armed Helicopters -Server can spawn up to 185 vehicles, though many may be out of gas or completely destroyed. -No plot pole needed to build -No building maintenance required -Normal day night cycles with night time beginning around Midnight Eastern (GMT -9) -Server restarts every 6 hours.

  12. I miss tents, road vehicles and hunting/cooking the most. Blood works a lot different in the mod but I miss being on death's door, finding a cow and finally seeing color once again.

    Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition

    I pretty much had the same idea a week ago.Expand the map in the north,less citys but lots of roads,forests and loneliness,untill you reach a certain pont,where settlements like in your story are. Because the cold not much people go there=more and better loot,but the mor you go the colder it gets,maybe even to a point vehicles become unusable without preperations. Have my beans!

    If vehicles are in the game and we have the ability to armor them with metal plates the KSVK may have a place in the game,but with realistic drawbacks(being 50xtimes as rare as a m4 is now for example,not much ammo,good luck finding a matching magazine etc).It should be too rare and cumbersome to use against simple players.

    I hope vehicles are pretty rare, and maybe require parts before they are functional.. Hunting down gas, or finding the same car type and using its parts to fix yours. Different levels of a working car would be nice. If its not fully "fixed" then it may stall all the time or just chug along slowly. I dunno, just some ideas. I would almost rather the map be slightly smaller and no vehicles or maybe only one or two on the whole map that are tuff to find. ..."map be smaller"?! what am I saying?...make it bigger!!! lol!

    well, just because you dont like chocolate, doesnt mean the rest of the world doesnt like it. The world is bigger then the few cubic inches in your head, deal with it that people like "7,000+ vehicles / 500+ helicopters / self-blood bag / auto-refuel / donator kits" servers.

    There were private hives in the mod for this reason, but then it morphed into ridiculous "7,000+ vehicles / 500+ helicopters / self-blood bag / auto-refuel / donator kits" servers. I, and I'm sure many others, do not want that stuff anywhere near the standalone. It's almost impossible to find a well populated vanilla DayZ server nowadays :(
  21. Many Arma vehicles run the gamut for use, size, armor, speed, carry multiple people, etc. And as far as I can tell, the Bicycle is really the only steathy vehicle, and for ground... Hang Gliders would be a really cool, elegant, stealthy, simple air vehicle. Comes in two sizes: *Small: fits one person *Large: fits two people Colors: Red, Green, Sky Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple, reccomended equpiment: Sunglasses (without them, makes the character blink, or squint constantly), a player with minimal weight (the larger one will allow more weight for a single rider.) Pros: flaps/wings can be repaired with Duct Tape, small, quiet, Cons: can be shot down relatively easily, pilot is easy to kill/easy target limitations: need high elevation, delicate, can't shoot (debateable if using a .45 or lower calibur pistol)

    What random events would you like to see?

    Some of my ideas here. I like the idea of random stashes or small bunkers in the wilderness. Places where early survivors tried to hunker down before eventually succumbing to the infection themselves. Crashes vehicles of all sorts - grocer/food deliveries, ambulances/medical trucks, construction supply truck (like this bad-ass one here), just normal civilian vehicles, etc. Various packs of zombies not tied to loot locations, just random roaming packs. Even small ones with 3-5 zombies would make running through the forests much more interesting, and make it harder to conceal your location effectively as you travel. It would also make silent weapons and melee weapons much more useful to kill quietly as you're traveling and don't want to be constantly announcing your location.

    Zedicologist spot on! Work out where's dangerous and avoid and then learn how to move getting as little exposure as possible. Really all there is to it. hvc you've undermined your whole argument as soon as you said 'it's in Alpha'. It's therefore way too early to be saying 'oh there's too much KOS sight it ruins the game' because the game isn't finished and therefore we haven't seen how people will interact with a more complete product. That aside as Zedicologist said just play in a way that means you don't get shot all the time. If you're a new spawn and you get shot, what's the prob? Start over you haven't lost much. Once you've got reasonable gear avoid Cherno, Electro and the Airfields and in all likelyhood you'll be ok for a long time. It works for me. I'm not saying it should be PVP only, there should be things to do to cooperate of course (vehicles, gearing up, or help new spawns if it floats your boat). Maybe introduce basebuilding/safe zones/trading but only later as options on servers. It's just if you start trying to force people to do things and play in a certain way that to me spoils the sandbox element of the game and moves it further away from the experiance of the mod. And as I said above all I want is for them to do the same as the original mod with all the stuff it had, but working properly (Zombies, decent FPS, Cars etc).

    What random events would you like to see?

    Ive been thinking a little about ways that you could be clued into random events. Circling birds, plumes of smoke from camp fires or burning vehicles and structures, explosions. Any others?
