    Hi my name is Jester. I wish I could create games. I have the ideas but not the knowledge to do so. But we are here to talk about DayZ. For my ideas for Dayz is to start fresh, And make everything unique. WORDS TO KEEP IN MIND {MULTIPLE TYPES OF UNIQUENESS!!) Lets start with setting. Lets keep the "astronaut's view" the same and keep the cities where they are but take out the buildings and make them new and unique. No two buildings should be the same, unless it needs to be. Examples would be chain restaurants or such. Make it realistic as possible. For example my school has a gymnasium. I would add tragedy, zombie,and bandit gore into the scenery And how much time has past? you could have plant growth. speaking of time and nature. Instead of just 24 hours you could have seasons and weather (i'm talking storms)like you don't want to go out storms)(seasons/as updates). Next is objects, people and gameplay. starting with objects. Its cool that there are a lot of objects already in Dayz but what if we had 10 different types of the same item, say knives. when I'm talking knives, I'm talking 10 different looking butcher knives and 10 different hunting knives, and all were able to be customized (we are already working on customization, I see). but more please. More examples would be customizing vehicles. (things can be taken apart and destroyed completely specially if it requires teamwork.) like taking out an engine and replacing it using an engine hoist. I believe there should be many types of zombies as there is objects (one faster one taller one fatter one hungry) Alright lets go to health and stats. I would only add two perks to the game they are both realistic so it should be added. Number one is the longer you are alive the faster you will become, I mean think about if you ran everyday, you should be good at it Right. And number 2 is immunity to diseases over time. speaking of illness i think it should be me more of a visual thing. Same thing with dehydration. you wipe the sweat off you head. And one thing you should add is the option to rest in a bed for 5 10 minutes(which is risky and time consuming)(friend, foe and zombie can wake you) after rest illness is cured and if not sick you gain some % of health back. Now lets talk about servers. Hacking is a big thing in DayZ. A quick solution is to not have respawning, One saved character per server, And auto kick for extra scrips. This way people don't jump server to server to get better positions,and items on empty servers. And items that are on the server stay on the server. This makes hacked items easier to find.

Well, if you're looking for a server, then you just found one BOMB *** server, so how about you come play!!!??? SERVER INFORMATION: IP - 147.255.183.146:2302 ENJOY! Here is what we've got for all of you out there, we made sure we don't have too many vehicles or Self bloodbag because self bloodbag is a bs script to have in a server because well, why not have a friend do it eh? You got me? I hope so! AI Missions Auto Refuel Safe trader zones Reduced / increased trader prices, Very active and VERY nice admins, read bottom for examples, Snap building, Map addition, Read bottom for examples, Roughly around 150 vehicles So that is what we've got so far, we plan to install infiSTAR anti-hack. But we're a bit away from $40.00 to be honest. So what I'm also going to do here is the examples part I mentioned above... Admins part - Let's say you crash your helicopter due to a screen shutdown, which we've all experienced if we're active flight masters, basically what I'll do, is go into my database, and restore the vehicles repairs, and fuel. Now, If you tell me exactly what you had in the helicopter and don't lie about it or exaderate it, then I will easily restore that as well... Map addition part - We've added concrete airfields at NEAF, and Balota, so it's a REAL airfield of some ways now, instead of the old dirt ones. We have also been constructing some hidden areas for you to discover and have fun, like maybe a military base that has a ammo crate w/ ammo and guns in it just for you guys to find, I don't know, guess you gotta find that out yourselves, ;) So yes, there is all the information I'd like to let you all know, we also kind of reduced the price of plot poles because they're kind of expensive for what they are, so it's been reduced 2 10oz.     Survivor's brain

    Hey there! Sorry for the grammar - english is not my native language. There're loads of "give life a value" suggestions nowadays. Death in DayZ currently is just a hardcore version of *being busted by cops* in GTA:SA - you loose all your gear while teleported away from recent action. When stashes, tents and vehicles will be implemented the end of character's life will be even less "game over" then now. Current game breaking problems: Value of other survivor's life (neutral or hostile) is almost nil (you can only grab some of his blood while he is alive and captured).Once dead you can run to hidden stash and gear up in minutesLack of player's identification in long term Suggestion: add the second type of inventory - survivor's brain! Just as you use main inventory to collect items, with the "brain inventory" you collect memories of different kind. Items in "brain" cannot be looted by anyone else. Once survivor is dead all his "memories" are erased. Examples of usage: Stashes I believe that stashes and tents will be very important after implementation. To beat the problem with "after death back up" stash I suggest the following. When you create a stash your brain system automatically creates an anchor with coordinates. Your created stash will be linked to this anchor. Once you're dead - anchor erased - stash disappears. If you have a squad team or a friend, you can share any given anchor with him/them. This way stash will be persistent until at least one copy of it's anchor is alive. So if you play with group and one or two of yours die then you're lucky because you can meet up with your friend and he will share the anchor with you. More copies of stash anchor are alive - more chances your team's hidden loot will not disappear. But once your group is ambushed and all of your teammates are killed - then all your stashes/tents are gone. Once survivor is captured by hostile players they should try to receive his anchor/s (force him to share one or any of them) by the mean of saving his life and not executing him. One could simply imagine the type of interrogation going on (or even torture not just for lulz but on purpose). Could be a great feature if any given stash could be booby trapped. You can imagine different possibilities. This concept could also work if you want to team up with someone new. You just start with sharing your anchors and this could lead to the team formation right in-game. Anchors can also be used for vehicles secret locks (fuel blocks, engine bugs). Contacts Along with the anchors player can share and receive contact intel when standing close to someone. E.g. if you met friendly person, you talk, survive through some shit and then even if you want to go in different directions you want to stay in touch with him and be able later to recall his name, face and so on. I don't know about mechanics but I pretend it could work the same way the vicinity works in main inventory: you exchange your contacts via drag and drop. It could also be a great feature if contacts were tied not to in-game name but to GUID (or steam account) so even if in-game name changes you will be updated with this information. And even a cooler thing - you could be able to see his face/body (the same way you can see yourself in main inventory). Stats There're many talks about adding statistic or some kind of diary to the character. "Brain inventory" could fulfill these demands very well. Even current character status could suit this additional inventory screen apart from items, guns and clothes. The main point here is that if you die, you'll lose it all. And if you're dead noone can take anything from "dead brain". And if anyone want something they have to ask you to share it (politely or not - it's up to them). But once you're dead - they have nothing (neither have you). This concept is definitely subject to polish, clean up and rework.

    I like your suggestions, although I am not a fan of any mounted HMG's being ingame especially if they fit to vehicles as you suggest. Based on my small experience with sub mods of dayz that had HMG's on vehicles it was a mess and way to overpowered in the hands of many.

    I've played DayZ since it was just a wi mod, and recently purchased a copy for a friend and I. I am also considering buying two more copies for other friends. This maybe a small contribution to the whole of the game but I would like to think it adds a little weight to my words. I support many games that are in alpha, if I believe they show promise. That being said... Weapons Bolt-action rifles: Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk. I'm basing the heavier weapons such as this on sieges, if a group of survivors fortify a position. Though I want these sorts of weapons to be far more rare than their other small arms counter parts. An example is you would typically find parts for these weapons, and you would have to assemble them, they would have to be used in a practical manner. For instance the M2 and DShK could not be deployed on the ground without tri-pods. But they could be easily adapted to fit vehicles. I.e. APC's, Tanks, etc... In closing I would like to point out select weapons in this posts are probably scheduled for development, and release. I know some of these weapons some are probably suggested in other posts, and also am aware that I did not have to list all of the weapon chamberings in this post. I was feeling meticulous. To the Dev's I would like to congratulate them on the weapons already in the game (you're headed in the right direction). What's highlighted in red is what I would believe to be silly not to appear in the final product. I also enjoy the rarity and frequency with which firearms can be found. I don't believe Soviet Military equipment, nor the ratio between Civilian v.s. Military clothing and supplies is canon to the games setting or environment. Anyone who else who says differently is entitled to their own opinion, but I feel like it would take away from the game. We live in a global economy, sure there are regulations on the import and export of Military weapons and vehicles, but whose to say where everything is or should be? That being said the line of absurdity is drawn when guided weapons, smart bombs, and advanced hardware enter the fold. If you want that go play Battlefield or Call of Duty. Though I would like to think the people who play this are a more mature audience. Lastly I would like to see some vehicles like Helicopters, Light armored vehicles, Troop transports, Armored Personnel Carriers, Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles, and finally A Cessna or single engine prop. aircraft (as a scout plane)It seems like a lot of the servers I'm joining now are night, are they real time? What's up with that? As a note I am well aware this is the Alpha but these are some expectations, and I don't expect all of these to come through, but I would like to think some of them will make it into the final game.

  10. Someone had mentioned spears and bows earlier.. These have been suggested as improvised weaponry going into the game, and while the ideas aren't necessarily bad, bows and arrows and spears are a comparatively ineffective way of killing people. Its reasonable to assume that while some types of ammunition are going to be extremely rare, other types are relatively uncommon and will continue to be much more widely available than weapons used to fire them (the opposite may hold true for some military weapons..) So here are some examples for items that could have some kind of a primary function as survival gear in DAYZ, while also having an an option to be modified into improvised weapons to use some more common types of ammunition. I also noticed people complaining about the darkness at night, and remembered the solution of chem lights and flares that were present in the mod. These are by far better ways of tackling area-lighting than NVG, and also provide a more rapid solution to brightening an area than setting up something like a lantern or carrying a flashlight around to reveal your precise position. So, without further ado: flare gun. shoots flare rounds. useful for deploying flares at night to light an area.metal scraps (basic resource) + rubber tubing (basic resource) = 'craft flaregun insert' optionadd 'flaregun insert' to flare gun as attachment = modified flare gunfires shotgun shells, occupies 4 spaces. even less accurate than sawed-off.takes some wear/damage with every shotgun shell shot. Nail Gun used in construction, fires caseless nail ammo, large mag capacity.Can be used in construction for boarding-up structures or vehicles.Can be carried in Toolbelt/BoxNail ammo can be used as weapon. Super short-range and inaccurate.Use metal scraps (basic resource) on nail gun to modify it into Improvised Pistol, chambered to .22 Still quite inaccurate and short-range, but there you have a basic firearm with decent mag capacity that can use existing ammo Takes a small bit of damage with every shot fired on account of not being able to safely handle ammo type. Should night-vision ever be implemented into the game, it should use an improvised solution crafted out of Welder's Goggles (piece of glare-reducing eyewear) + Wiring + LED lights + Electrical tape and using batteries. Combining above items requiring pliers. Multi-step crafting involving both uncommon items and salvaged components of other items stripped using tools is a far better way of introducing items like that into the game than uber leet rare lootspawn for tryhard bros to spawnhop.

    Mechanic: Human vision in low light conditions

    I think it's a good idea but... very hard to make. Light, shadows and light sources are one of the hardest thing of grafic design. Your idea is only an unecessary complication and it will take a lot of time to be implemented. There are still more important thing to do (vehicles, for example) and the develop team is made only by five people... that's all. ps: your idea still looks pretty good, in my opinion :)

    12 Ideas That I feel Would Improve DayZ.

    1.) Ok, so the chest holster is cool, but there is no real trade off for wearing it. You only wear it until you find a vest with double the slots, or if you wear it cosmetically. I was thinking that if you have a pistol in a chest holster and it's hot keyed that when your climbing ladders you can press that hot key and pull out the pistol while on a ladder. That way there is a payoff for sacrificing those extra slots that a vest would give you over the holster. 2.) Give screwdrivers, pens, and anything that can be used to stab someone a one time use when hot keyed. If you have an enemy close by and your weapon goes empty, you could either pistol whip them (see suggestion 3.), or press the hot key that your pen or screwdriver is in so you can pull it out real quick and stab it into the enemies eye, or shoulder. Eye if it's a zed, and shoulder if it's a player. You can just run away leaving the object in said player or zed, or you can press LMB again to pull it out. I think that same mechanic would be great for axes as well. Maybe you have a 30% chance of getting your axe stuck in a zed's head, and you would have to press LMB again to pull it out. 3.) Every weapon should have an alternative melee attack. I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I wanted to add it to this suggestion post anyway3 4.) Improving melee by adding a horizontal attack. We all know how clunky melee is at the moment, only having a vertical attack makes hitting someone that is circling you very difficult and usually ends up in a stupid dance until someone lands a blow. I think adding a horizontal swing would greatly improve melee allowing you to hit someone that is circling you constantly. 5.) Anti-stab vests should be able to be worn under shirts and jackets since they have zero pockets. 6.) I think random houses should have locked safes or gun cabinets that you would have to find the key to get into. The keys would always be well hidden inside the house, like under a bed or table. Or it could also be on a nearby Zed that's roaming around said house. Just don't aggro that zombie away from the house, you may lose him and never find the key. 7.) I would also like a dive mechanic implemented as well. Especially when vehicles are available we will need a way to dive into a bush or just get out of the way of an incoming car. Plus it would be useful to avoid players line of sight. 8.) I think there should be a way to repair attachments like a scope. As of now if you find a badly damaged scope it is useless. All scopes are broken in the same way, the glass is cracked and you cant see well. I think there should be at least 3 different ways a scope or any attachment can be broken. So along with a cracked sight the attachment could have a broken mount, so it cant even attach to a gun at all, but the sight itself is fine. Another could be the zoom function is frozen due to rust and cant move, but the mount and sight are fine. I Think repairing should be a lot like the Fallout 3 mechanic but more realistic, so instead of any two of the same type repairing said item, you would need to actually find two of the same attachments that have opposite things wrong with them. So if you have a long range scope with a cracked sight but everything else is fine, then you would need to find another LRS that has a working sight but something else is broken. You might also find attachments that have two things broken on it also,and in rare cases you will find a ruined one that has all 3 broken and would be considered useless. Which is better than all attachments under "worn" condition being useless. 9.) I would also like the ability to run uphill, maybe by pressing "Q and E" in the same timing as your footsteps? Pressing "Q and E" will start an animation that pushes your hands against your knees making you faster while going uphill. Same goes for stairs as well. This might be a little weird, so at the very least we need to be able to go uphill faster, even if the animation just starts by itself because while getting chased it is very annoying to start slowly walking up hill when trying to get away, becoming an easy target. 10.) This one is for when vehicles are in game. I think most houses should have garden hoses outside of them, either attached to the house itself or just lying on the ground. If you have a sharp object you can cut a length of hose. This piece of hose can have two uses. One, is to siphon gas from another car or from a tank itself. Another use could be to hide underwater while using the hose to breath. 11.) Bashing through doorways when running at them, and quietly opening them when needing to be silent, Outlast style. If your being chased by someone or something you can press "F" at the perfect moment while running at a door to put your shoulder into it and bash it open. Doors that have been bashed will never close again, they will just swing back and forth if you try to close it. If you don't press "F" then you will hit the door and be knocked back for a second leaving you open for attack. If trying to be stealthy, then you can go up to a closed door and hold down "F" and slowly walk forward to inch the door open as desired. 12.) I really dislike how you can just stick a weapon to your back and call it good. When you start off as a fresh spawn you should only be able to hold one weapon until you find a strap or holster for it. If you find and axe first then before you can hold a rifle or sprint, would need to find some rope to tie a strap, or find a proper holster for it. Same goes for the rifles and shotguns, either you would need to find some rope, or get a weapon holster. This would work because rope isn't hard to find. You will most likely have some rope before you find your first weapon. Due to the fact that every other aspect of this game seems to have at least some form of realism to the way it works, why is the way you store your weapons on your back overlooked when such a simple and realistic solution is already available in game? This is the one idea on my list that I would like to see the most. It just really bugs me, and reminds me of The Last of Us to much. These are just my ideas so please tell me why you dislike them by criticizing them respectfully. There is no need to jump on someone negatively and insult them because you don't agree with there opinion. EDIT: I would also like the ability to lean out a window and open and climb through said window as well.

    Just north of BZ near the tracks in the lumber mill there are 7 lathes, given that you do not have that many lathes of that size without a mill and more than likley a tracing machine and a broaching machine + assorted tools/machines in one of the nearby and as of yet sealed buildings there is no reason that mecanical technology would roll back at all. Some one would start a compound around that sight, as it already has some good walls, and easy acces to the ocean for food, bring in generators or simply power the machines from a tractor PTO or from a striped rim on the drive wheel of a car held up on jacks, and presto high end manufacturing capabilities restored as for materials to use, given the number of dead versus number of survivors scavenging disabled vehicles and such would produce more than enought to supply the compound wiht all it would need for a long time. Now eventually fuel would probably run out, but by that point finding caned food would never accur, so the game setting isn't there yet.

    Full build... Now what?

    That's the question that some friends and I have been asking. When you have everything to the max (improved weapons, clothes, tons of food and medics...) the only thing you can do in the game is walk or become a bandit. I don't like being a bandit as I don't like walking, so I'm not playing the game right now. I know that it's still alpha and there will be lots of things to do, all I'm trying to suggest is the focus on late-game features, like repairing a vehicle <- Totally would like to see it soon. It's just that you get your full build and then the remaining thing to do is kill those who still don't have it, and it's pretty annoying for them, so I would like to see alternatives for it. I know they are working at the camping system that would be cool for that, but I'd like to see soon some action to do like tons of more useful crafting and vehicles system prioritizing it over some other features they would have to do. What do you think? What would be some cool things to do after we have our items? (I wont talk about base or buildings because I know that there is a long way out from that, although I would really love it)

    I'll never understand this. There is literally nothing on the map worth exploring at this point outside of going to a place for loot or player interaction. The small places have too little loot to really be worth it - you're better off just going to a larger one - so chance of player interaction is lower. City loot, large or small, only go so far as well, you only need so much beans/water before it's time to actually go do something like find people/upgrade to military loot. At which point you have minimal options with a long run ahead of you where absolutely nothing between matters unless by chance you happen upon another player running. We need random events, vehicles, heli crashes, tents, base building, etc to push people to want to go out and actually have purpose along that run. Someone wants to route towards a small town to check for vehicles, along that run they see smoke from a crash, run into a military zombie who has a chance for loot, get run over by player in vehicle, etc. Someone wants to go hunt the forest for tents, finds a base instead, undefended grabs their vehicle... You know.... Stuff that is actually worth doing... I'm not sure why they are not pushing these items as the absolute top priorities instead choosing to work on walking talkies, changing spawns to the point where autorun/suicide is the norm, etc. Last I heard vehicles won't even be in the game for a year? Absolute insanity.

    I do want vehicles in this game. But at a very, very difficult rate to aquire them. All vehicles in the game SHOULD be disabled. Require parts to repair and above all NO FUEL. people need to haul ass to the nearest gas station with a jerrycan and run back to their vehicle. No matter the distance. Vehicles should be an achievement and a MAYOR risk to have. since other people will want it too. Also, I think Bicycles should be implemented aswel. they should be more common to find.

    I would like horses as well, Need to find a saddle and bridle have to feed them, water them, protect them from zombies. get two horses and two sets of harness and you could potentialy convert one of the blue trailers into a wagon. Burlap sacks full of oats and corn could be used to feed the horses as well as the players. There are plenty of round bales of hay in the fields those would be low quality food for a horse that takes a lot of time to be eaten, all the while your horse is out there exposed for anyone to find, kill you and steal. Shooting a gun from a horse or getting your horse to near a zombie should have a chance to get thrown off, potentialy resulting in damage or death same for running over a rabbit (tho much lower chance). Running your horse until it runs out of energy kills it etc. Could be a fun and complex system. Just one small point my horse can carry more loot than any mule in the world. I hate games that make mules better for loot than horses. On vehicles I've thought about it and finding fuel should be nearly impossible, even at gas stations your typical gas station gets fuel at least once a week, many get it every few days chances are at the end the diliveries were not being made and by the time the world looked like it does now, people fleeing have used pumps to pump the tanks dry, so the only way to get fuel should be at remote towns and on ocasion a jerry can in a barn or construction site etc, also you have to ask yourself whats more valuable the ability to use a car or the potential ability to use a generator.

    I'd like to have vehicles in game but it has to be very rare and difficult to have one, so few vehicles in the map and hard to have and to manage.

    In a world that has a shit-ton of cars you want vehicles to be rare? I say make the little Sedans spawn en-masse, every family in the world has access to a vehicle whether its a family car or a neighbor giving them a ride, EVERYONE (ok maybe not EVERYONE) but MOST have access to vehicles, so what is the reasoning behind making them rare?

    I agree to a point to reduce the amount of military grade weaponry in the game. BUT if you'd compare this to the real world, and you accept the 250square km and the THREE military airfields, added to some FIVE military bases in the are, and that the backstory has some sort of civil war going on (which always disperses a LOT of weapons, even military), then I think the amount we have in the game right now is good, maybe even low. Definitely room for AKs, SKSs and shitty hand guns (not too sure about the Pythons, they seem rather exotic for the environment. The M4 I get because of the USMC involvement in the backstory, but really how often do you see a magnum). One thing I miss in this backstory is how far in we are. Has it been months? I notice no dogs or cats. Have they all been eaten? There's kennels outside of lots of homes. I'd like some feral dogs in packs, esp. in the cities. Oh and the scary howling at night would be amazing. If it is months, what's beyond the end of the map? a perimeter guarded by the Russians, with UN/CDC carps trying to contain whatever it is that's turning us into zombified infected whatever the correct term is here? Are we in years and has the whole world been affected? Then really can we have pristine of anything? How good is canned food then? Usually it lasts 1-2 years. Ponds I'd have real difficulty trusting, but wells? Where is a real river? What about when a zombie or player dies in a pond and stays in. Goodbye drinking water and hello disease, even coming close. I'd love to hear more about the how's and why's of us at that beach. Also about how this would affect our world, and making it believable. Here's one comment to the poster about soldiers evac'ing leaving their weapons behind: since we now have military zombies, that question has been answered for me. Panicked evac (although, where are the signs of that? Except on the road between Balota airfield and the tent camp, where you can feel the hastened and desparate exit somewhat with the burnt vehicles). The rest got infected and stayed behind.

    vehicles yes if he makes the map MUCH MUCH bigger, I'm talking 2x size here. If not, no. The map is way to small, even on foot.

    Wish list

    It all sounds pretty good except for NPC's and RPG levelling up or whatever, instead of that I would suggest things like Manuals for fixing certain vehicles so you have something to care about and bargin with. For instance if you get held up and you read how to fly/fix a helicopter you could try to buy your freedom that way.
