I would imagine that, at the outset of a zombie apocalypse, there would be many people trying to flee a given area at once, which would likely result in a number of traffic accidents, of which the vehicles (and possibly the people) that were involved would likely still be at the scene; I think it would be neat to run across stuff like this every once in a while, like the bus with a pile of corpses next to it. Here's an example of something that would be neat to find (and even neater to see happen in-game):

The thing is one problem is not holding the patch back, it is the stuff they aren't telling you about. Like how there is only a couple of developers left in their team actually working on the game. They sold their copies and now they are out of spending money to pay developers. It is no insult, it is just common sense. How are they paying their developers with no more sales? They aren't. Bohemia never had a large budget for DayZ and now the only people left doing the work are the couple people who think they can make more money when the game releases. Which they won't because the game will not be out until literally 2016 at the rate we are at now and there will be plenty of more interesting games to play then. If rubber banding is slowing the development this badly, what is going to happen when they attempt to implement vehicles? Find a new game gentlemen, we have been shazam'd.

I agree if that's the only thing they could do and also let them remove the aimdot that's it. I don't want them to be able to have higher loot, 1000+ vehicles and sidechat and being able to spawn all the gear they want just to rule the server and make SA into what the mod become...

I ran it twice and it spawned in about 73 vehicles, but everytime I run the procedure again it says Error Code: 1366. Incorrect decimal value: '' for column '' at row -1. I even tried editing the pMain like you mentioned in your post and also increased the maximums above the limit. However it won't spawn anymore. Also, how did you quickly generate all those spawn points?

One of the most entertaining things ever is finding someone else's campsite and stealing all their stuff. I can't wait for tents and vehicles because of this.

Well if we have three main categories it would serve everyone. Everyone can play on regular servers and they seem to be the most popular anyway(so we wouldn't loose players). I also think only seperate 'hardcore servers' into 2 categories would be enough and satisfy most peoples needs(one with text/voice and one without text and only voice ' remove the aimdot, it would not force anyone to get a mic or headtracker). The way you suggest would divide people way too much, just like what happend in the mod where there was simply to many options and finding a server you like was hard because it would only have 2-3 players on most of them, in short I hope private hives doesn't become an option. To many people would just choose the 'easy' way and only play on servers that have 200' vehicles and high loot. Been back into the mod lately and sadly almost no ones play hardcore anymore. And nooooo, don't reintroduce sidechat, never make that a server option again, we have these neat 'walkie talkies' now and they are way cooler than people typing shit in sidechat, and occasionally some turd alwasy seems to love farting into the mic and ruin the immersion on the servers, and it's like when one first start it spreads like an infection and lasts for minutes. Increase the range a little more on the walkies instead, having sidechat would also make people never use the walkies and they would stay as a gimmick forever. Please take alot of control of what servers are allowed too and don't go back to the way it was in the mod.

I know that humanity is a hot topic in the DayZmod world, but I wanted to throw out a couple of thoughts I have on the subject in light of some of the changes to the medical system in 1.8.1. As most of us know, the medical system is more complicated in 1.8.1, which is fantastic, but it also means that it's more difficult to gain humanity while losing humanity is still very easy to do. This has lead to some discussion on the possibility of changing or even removing humanity from the mod. Well, this is my plea that whatever is done in the upcoming patches, please please please don't remove the system entirely! Here's why I think it's important: One of the biggest factors that attracted me to DayZ is persistence. It's a persistent, realtime world on a 24 hour clock that exists without you when you log out. Nothing outside of what you carry in your inventory is safe once you log out. The game provides harsh, and sometimes lasting consequences for the choices you make. You really have to be careful in this game or it will bite you in the butt later. Should I venture all the way to NWAF and loot the barracks without finding some morphine first? Is this really a safe place to hide this car for the night? Should I ruthlessly shoot this survivor, or risk talking to him and maybe teaming up with him? In this game death is incredibly harsh. Some call it permadeath, but it's not really permadeath when you can run back to your body and reclaim your gear. Even if you can't get to your body, there's always more loot to be found, and vehicles will respawn eventually after you crash or lose them. The only really two really persistent things in this game is the 24 hour day/night cycle, and...humanity. A lot of people criticize the humanity system for many different reasons. Sure, it's flawed and can always use some tweaking and changing, but I personally think it adds so much to the core gameplay. It really makes you think about the consequences of your actions. It leads to very interesting scenarios, from survivors helping each other out to a hero taking the risk of trusting a bandit and letting him go. This is an identity that you carry with you. It's something that stays with you, making the consequences for your actions really matter. So many people became interested in DayZ because of the social aspects of the game. The fear of interacting with people that you're not sure if you can trust. The humanity system put a very base level ruleset into what is mostly a sandbox game that offers just enough guidance to make interactions really intriguing. The humanity system also offers a whole new challenge to the game. PvP, looting, gathering vehicles, all take a certain amount of skill, but adding the factor of trying to maintain a humanity status makes all of those aspects of the game more challenging. Simply shooting someone can be very easy. On the other hand, approaching him and trying to be friendly while maintaining the upper hand is very challenging. It makes you question whether or not to enter certain situations rather than just saying screw it and going in with guns blazing. It gives you an incentive to think about situations before you walk into them. Without the humanity system, people have no incentive to trust or talk to someone, and betraying people brings no consequence with it. This is my plea to the devs to not abandon the system, but rather improve upon it. You guys have already proven with the 1.8.1 patch that you have the skill and direction to take the game in an amazing direction, one that in my opinion improves upon but stays true to Dean Hall's original idea of a post apocalyptic zombie survival game. I believe you can do the same with humanity. TL;DR: The humanity system certainly has flaws, but I feel it is an integral part of the game and that the devs should develop and improve upon it rather than lose it altogether.

Can anyone offer some insight on how the new vehicle system works? It appears that none are spawning on my server, and I haven't figured out how to spawn x number of vehicles in random locations across the map.

Yeah as the title says, we just made a Overpoch server which essentially means we added in most of the weapons (and vehicles) from Overwatch to the loot tables and traders. We've gone through and balanced the loot as well so that not every building has several guns in it so that the loot isn't flooded with only guns. We've decided to stay away from what most servers do and keep most weapons in military spawns. Anyhow, we have a lot of custom content added in and we would just like some more regulars to join us! I'll post our IP and website below along with TS3 and a few features that you might enjoy. To help cultivate the community, we are also offering starter perks for new groups! When you join the server, you may create a forum post under "General Discussion" on our Overpoch section of our website listing your group's names and have all your members post under it. Bump - added castle at stary trader! Adding all guns and vehicles to traders shortly. Dynamic ai turned off, only ai heli and vehicle patrols now along with missions. Thanks to all that have joined the server. Come and check it out! -
Just a few questions I have regarding this update and the server that I run. Vehicles are not spawning at all for me, I've tried upping the chances to 0.99, up'd max number of spawns and still nothing is spawning in their specified spawn points. I've tried numerous things and nothing has worked. Object_data is empty, I'm assuming that's where the spawned vehicles go or something but its always empty. I remember there used to be a bat that generated a specified number of vehicles on your server. Also, is there a way to change the default loadout? Since it appears there is no more loading from the instance table. Where is the loadout specified? I was assuming it is hidden in some pbo in the server files. And finally, has support for custom loadouts been removed? As they appear to not work anymore as well. Thanks, great update, just trying to get my server up to speed!

I have added spawnpoints into the database, and called pMain. Even after editing pMain to allow for 250 vehicles max, it won't spawn more than 72 objects into object_data. I currently have 1016 possible spawn entries. ETA: Thank you for the fast help! Fixed the Object limit with the object_classes table

While we are gathering some old team members to help get the mod running again. We have been playing with a few new arrows for the crossbow Crossbow Tranquiliser Bolts, used for knocking out another player. Explosive Crossbow Bolts, used for disabling vehicles. We are not sure if they will make a public version but hell there pretty fun :-)

What "law" do you speak of? Again, you're assuming your opinions are shared completely by the developers. Arbitrary limits such as "you cannot have X vehicles" or "you cannot spawn with items" (including the spawn outfit, flashlight & battery?) tend not to work out too well. "How so", you may ask? What if the server host were to set the spawns of vehicles up very high, to the point of them being in practically every town? Sounds bad, right? What if that same server admin were to lower the spawn rates of parts for said vehicles to such a low value that only 1-2 of the cars on the server would be operable at once? Now suddenly it sounds much more fun. Even then, why do you really care if people want to play on a server with plenty of vehicles and stuff available? You're free not to play on them and you're definitely not the only person who sticks exclusively to hardcore servers. Sure, a smaller number of people would prefer the hardest servers, but enforcing that style of gameplay isn't going to do anything. All that will happen is everyone on the easier servers will leave or go to the easiest places possible, solving absolutely nothing. Setting restart limits are something they probably couldn't control, nor would they want to, as server connection and stability degrades as it continues on, especially for lower-end providers. Even if they did try to enforce it, what are they going to do, ban the server and host, who paid money for their server and game, for simply resetting a server within a specific timescale? And modding cannot be done at the moment because the game is incredibly incomplete and buggy, and security vulnerabilities still exist. Hacking and glitching would be more problematic if the devs immediately opened up private hives and modding without spending time to optimize the game and their features. That's why they haven't opened it up yet, not because they're afraid of some sort of backlash (People complain about the M4A1 accuracy all the time and that's probably not going to be changed until the "Big Beta Rebalance") -

Because I can. I know. That's why I think BI should basically lay down the law and allow people to make mods for the game, but within a very strict rule set. For example, can't have more than X vehicles per server, can't have restarts more frequently than Y, can't spawn with items, no npcs etc. That way we'd still get new content from modders (mainly maps) and the game would be kept fresh and legit. How come ARMA was made then? A very niche game that by your logic should have been dead. Or how about iRacing? A racing game which requires not only a monthly sub, but a pretty expensive hardware set (wheel, pedals, stick). The games that try to cater to every demographic end up catering to nobody and ultimately fail. DayZ isn't meant to be some themepark ride. There's a strict set of rules you have to follow, just like in rugby or football. You can't allow handicaps for people who can't adapt to the game. Those people leave. NOT EVERY GAME IS FOR YOU! -

The ones that are TBA, I honestly can't remember which version we're using, or its been edited to the point that its not like the original version at all. I'll rectify these errors as soon as possible. Edits were made today to the mission system, a balancing act for some spawn issues, and a new(er) system for allowing some missions to be "hero" AI, so our Bandit players can get a little bit of negative humanity whilst doing the missions. At least, until we get a player base large enough to support being a bandit this will stay in effect so everyone can access the vendor they'd like, and have the play style they'd like. A note for some things to look forward to in the future: New Bandit/Hero shop lists, and updated pricing adding the Gems as a usable currency, instead of just trading gemstones for gold. New heavy vehicles are being debated for the loot table or mission loot. Still haven't gotten a lock on which one's we'll be going with, but they'll be worth the effort. AI Island. We've all seen various iterations of the north east island. We're building our own to give our players something a bit more "end game" to work towards. This area will NOT be a solo player area. Unless you're like... Frankie or DDG or someone who is just uber lucky and wicked good with every single weapon in the game. Other stuff thats too far down the pipe to talk about today. Come by and give us a shot. New players are always welcome! Also, we're working on tweaking a script that will allow players to switch seats in an air vehicle in the event of a loss of pilot. Mostly this is to help with anyone that may get disconnected, but we do understand that it could make taking out helo's more difficult. As always, once its installed and we hear back from the players we'll make the final decision on keeping it or tweaking it further. Thats all the news for today. Come join us! MK16 and MK17 weapons are now available as mission loot. They'll be added to the shops soon (most of the shop work will be done after 1.05). Until then, you can pick up a new weapon and play with it for a while. Events are now available. Just a few standard small events to give all our players a little boost when it comes to getting gear. Not enough stuff to make a person rich, or unbeatable, but its a nice change. I believe the events will be changed to start working as an AN-2 Cargo drop in a few days, so look for that change. Abandoned Vaults! After 14 days on the server, if a vault or lockbox hasn't been touched, the server now unlocks it. There's also a random event that could show you the location of them in the form of an event. So, yea... more progress! Trade Gems has been moved from a scroll wheel option, to the building supplies trader (all cities). Seemed to be freaking out every now and then and causing players to not be able to properly trade. So, we moved to the internal menu to make things smoother. Also, the prices were updated to promote a more balanced economy. Some minor changes to missions, mostly balancing and loot possibilities. Self blood bag has been adjusted to be a bit more ..... survival-ly ? Blood bag yourself out in the wild, for only 2k blood. Blood bag yourself near a medical vehicle for 4k blood. Blood bag yourself near/in a hospital or medical tent for 8k blood. Get your buddy to do it, get a full heal out of the deal. Also, for those who have joined recently (and this is posted in other locations as well). You shouldn't leave your vehicles in a trade city during restart times. It'll get teleported somewhere within 500m of said Trade City. And it'll be unlocked. Thats a good way to lose your stuff. Speaking of trader cities! I've added a load of new items to the appropriate shops. The MK16 and 17 variants are now available, along with the ammo to go with them. We've also added the RPG7 and M79 grenade launcher to the loot table and shops. Each air vehicle trader has also gotten a new shipment of Pook choppers, of all types and kinds. (literally, every variant) Pick yours out today!

Scripts on this server were outstanding, and a few of us even got a welcome from an admin called Odin in person, which was a nice touch. Playing the server and setting up a base with some friends was good as we had a very good strategic position. This was proved to be false hope as an admin called 'Biggles' used his powers to kill our clan and destroy our vehicles etc... this confirmed to me that this server is not the place to play if you like playing Dayz because if you start doing well, admins abuse may just dash your hopes. Funny thing is alot of us were going to donate money to this server too. That won't be happening now as admin abuse and mis-use of powers is discraceful & should not have been happening. Good luck if you gave your money to them.

Seemed like a good server at first, was welcomed by Odin. Then the admin YG Biggles felt the need to cheat as he couldn't kill me and my team. He was teleporting, using z shield and god made for vehicles. Server is well run lots of nice scripts and good fps, but why would anyone give money to CHEATERS. Yar

Played on this server last night. Seemed impressive at first, scripts were excellent, server performed well. When we started we were met by a very friendly admin called odin, who welcomed us to the server. Initial thoughts were that the server was something special, how many admins take time out their day to welcome us to play. We thought it was going to be great.....we were proven wrong. Later that night an admin called [YG]Biggles used a number of commands such as Zshield and teleporting to infiltrate our base, and kill the team. He then proceeded to blow up all the vehicles and unlock / unpack the safes. When questioned about this, Biggles played the dumb card and the other admin stayed silent. Very disappointing. Good server, but rather than fair game, rules are made up and broken as they see fit.

What an offensive op, can't believe mods let this thread slide. With that said all those things "high loot, no kos, 24/7 day are merely gimmicks in the server name to attract idiots. Is it really going to be better when the server listing is full of "10000 vehicles, spawn with weapon, self blood bagging, guaranteed douchebaggery" servers? -

Auto Refuel, ReArm ($), and Repair ($) at Red Pumpz Self Blood *4k per bag 900 Vehicles and Aircraft **including DZ vehicles Deployable RIDE - usually changes once a week. Wicked Ai... Paradrops(protecting military interests) and Missions (great loot). No Random Ai. Easier DZAI Ai missions... We are usually running 3 missions at a time.... Plot pole required to build 2-10oz Gold. And ALOT of custom additions. ** Trader Additions (edited alot of pricing the week of 2/4) ** Towns - (Gooobvka on the south west coast.) ** Castles ** Bridges to Skalisty Island Base And of course Antihack that works most of the time...........
