Title: 1 Shot 1 Kill | Dayz Epoch 1.0.3.1 Chernarus | Looking for Heroes & Bandits! --------------------- Game Server: 69.39.239.141:3187 Server Forums: 1s1kdayz.enjin.com Server Video: Warning: This is a PVP server. There are plenty of PVE elements on the server, however PVP is encouraged and welcomed. Bandit clans are setup with the exact same perks and treated the same way as hero clans. 1S1K Dayz Epoch is a different experience from your typical dayz epoch. Most servers have donation perks that encourage a pay to win environment, with custom loadouts for people who want to pay for them. We've also experienced some servers where the admins basically run a business by selling building supplies in their server donation store on a server that has destructible bases, and then going around and destroying those bases at night, so those people would then have to buy more building materials from the donation store. Needless to say, we don't want that environment. Instead we have chosen to give out what most servers offer as donation perks, instead as clan perks, based on your individual group size. Clan Perks: • Base Building Kits [based on group size] Supply box with prefabricated & raw building materials, & all the tools you need to build. • Door / Safe Combo Changes [3+ Members] Change all your door and safe combos to a single combination. Doors/safes with the same combination do not require you to re-enter combinations again. You can simply use the unlock/lock function on all doors/safes with the same combinations. • Clan Uniform @ Respawn [4+ Members] Find an epoch skin your group likes, we will set your group up with a custom loadout that spawns that skin in your inventory on respawn, as well as remove that skin from the traders. Thus you will be the only group on the server that will have that skin. *Ghillies & Hero skins not available as uniforms for obvious reasons • Fuel Tank @ Base [5+ Members] Fuel tank at your base enables you to put fuel pumps down within 30m of the tank, enabling auto refuel & repair at your base. • Protective Base Domes [5+ Members] Protective Base Domes are programmed with your group members' GUIDs. Anyone trying to enter your protective base dome that is not programmed into your dome gets warnings for 1 minute to leave, if they do not comply they are kicked from the game and teleported to skalisty island. *Base domes are not god mode. Base domes are not meant to stop people from attacking you at your base. Base domes are intended to stop people from camping inside/near your base and griefing your vehicles while you're not around, as well as preventing people from trying to guess door and safe combinations. Server Philosophy: We are of the philosophy that perks we setup for our clan members should be offered to every group on the server. Anything new that is setup for our clan will be offered to every group on the server. We hated the pay to win environment other servers offered, as well as the shady "business models" some admins have created on their servers. We strive to create a level playing field for every group on our server(bandit & hero clans alike), as the only thing preventing you from obtaining perks on our server is the size of your group, which can easily be rectified by recruiting more people, which is our goal, more people playing on our server! Active Admins: We have 2 super admins & 5 regular admins. All admins have rcon access, as well as customized in game admin tools on their scroll wheel menu to deal with the most common issues people playing in our server have. Our Server Admins adhere to a strict no abuse policy. We will not do anything for ourselves, that we would not do for you. With that policy, please do not ask for teleports, free items, keys to unlock vehicles you lost the key for, etc. Play the game "as it's designed" is our philosophy. Please note that during "Special Events" (which you are welcome to attend) the admins will be doing lots of teleports, spawning vehicles, spawning guns for the event. If you see a lot of players being teleported and you'd like to join the Special Event, just ask! If you are trying to find a home with fair admins and a balanced environment for heros & bandits alike, someplace you won't get kicked or banned for killing admins, come check us out. All our admins play regularly and enjoy helping people new to the game, as well as always welcoming the challenge of new PVPer's on the server. We do regular weekend events, and now that the server is setup and fully functioning with all the scripts we want, my focus will be on creating mission files specifically for event nights. Some events we currently run: • Armored Vehicle/Air Vehicle Nights: We'll spawn tanks, jets, helicopters with explosive weapons at a location that we teleport participants to. We may do king of the hill objectives or capture an item objectives, or attack and defend. • Team PVP - Attack & Defend: We teleport participants to a defend-able location, spawn a weapons box. Everyone in the current round uses the same weapons, which will be selected by the group. Each team takes a different set of skins to clearly identify who is who. Allow defenders one minute for setup, and then attackers assault the building. Some events we have planned for the future: • Death Race on the Coast: Race from Berezino to Kamenka on a death race track, complete with hazards, traps, & forced city detours. The real problem with racing in dayz is that whoever is in the front of the pack generally stays in the front... until something catastrophic happens. We are going to dramatically increase the catastrophe quotient by adding obstacles to avoid and forced detours, there will even be mines layed out in certain spots, though never entirely blocking your path - there will always be a clear path through the obstacles, however that doesn't prevent your buddy from shoving you into whatever obstacle happens to be closest. • Castle Siege: A custom castle will be added to the map. One night a week, we will have a castle siege night, where last week's winners of the siege will defend the castle against all other groups trying to take the castle. Winners of the castle siege will be allowed to use the castle as their base of operations for the following week, until the next castle siege night. The castle will come equipped with a gun rack filled with rare weapons, as well as a locked chopper. The castle will be protected by a Protective Base Dome programmed with the winner's GUIDs for the duration of the week. The base dome will be taken down during castle siege night. We have quite a few more events planned for the future, but these are my favorites and the first I will be working to implement. -
To an extent; cars that are in shoddy condition should be common, as for vehicles in pristine condition would be VERY rare to find.

The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus

Has anyone else noticed this yet? Even with faster running, I'm pretty sure they've made Chernarus plus more like Chernarus minus. Yeah, theres more buildings/towns but the map just feels like its a lot smaller. Running from one end of the map to the other takes a lot less time. Theres really no point in vehicles at this point. Do you think they've just made a smaller version of Chernarus+ during the absence of vehicles? -

No major rewards, just very subtle, scaleable benefits which increase automatically with each extra day of survival: You can hear slightly better, approaching footsteps etc - you've trained your senses over time You can get a little more meat off an animal, when hunting's back in You can maintain weapons slightly better, condition stays pristine a little longer You take slightly less damage off Zeds, as you know how to handle them You need slightly less equipment to repair vehicles, when vehicles are back in You can last slightly longer on a given amount of food/water

I have notice people complaining or making suggestions about the game, that were answered by the man himself in an AMA about 2 weeks ago. So I will post the main answers here. It's gonna be ugly because of the formatting. Not gonna fix it as there is a lot of Q's and A's. Just decipher it. And I left out a ton of non game related stuff. 1 - Is there any feature you would really like to see in DayZ but is impossible to implement with the current technology? (For example a 15,000 player server on a 30,000 km2 map.) Procedural terrain, limitless environment. I don't think its impossible with current technology but I don't think it's possible within the scope of the project. 2 - Were there some other title candidates or was DayZ the first to pop up? There was some latin "city of the dead" that I used for a mod I started making for ArmA when it first came out. It was my first mod, ever. I never finished it but me and a few friends played it. I shelved it as too hard but the basic idea grew into DayZ much later. Jay-Z's lawyers tried to get us to stop using DayZ and change it to ZDay, actually. We declined. But it did make me laugh. ArmA is an incrediblegame and ArmA3 is no exception. It has massive scope and a huge demand on AI and many other things. Many of these things can cause problems for MP gaming, and that's what I'm all about really. We have reports from Intel, AMD/ATI, and Nvidia. These give us ideas for how to optimize the client. The difference is GTA5 is not a survival game. There are many upcoming features that will add content to the game and consequently give players more things to do. These new "things" to do will not only give players a choice of something to do besides KoS, but also could directly influence people to not KoS. Some examples: 1. More (dangerous) zombies will make people hesitant to fire shots if it will put them in danger. 2. Sickness, when incorporated, will make it so players may be more interested in trading for antibiotics, water purification tablets, alcohol tincture, disinfectant, clean rags, and vitamins, all of which are now useless in the game. If you're sick and kill someone, this shit will prob be ruined and you'll die of sickness. 3. As a result of #2, inventory will be more difficult to manage. That's a bunch more items to carry without actually having more space to carry it. This influences sharing/trading. 4. Warmth. If player temp. is added I think it won't be so easy to just sit on a hill and camp without taking shelter/making a fire every now and then. Even people who still KoS will have more to deal with than just hunger. 5. Vehicles. From what I understand it won't even be possible to repair them by yourself. Just some examples. I agree with OP wholeheartedly. KoS will always be part of the game, as it should be, but I do think it will die down a bit when people have more to do.

We also don't favor any particular group / clan over the average player. What this means for you is that everyone has a fair chance. If your group is large enough to take over an entire airbase, and you have the resources to build a base, then do it. We won't stop you. A new idea to stop the "kill-on-sight" mentality

KoS is something that any "system" will not really get rid of, worst case scenario the idea's proposed increase KoS to prevent people from having functioning vehicles and trained medics etc. If I could lay claim to resources in this fashion aka by making it so no-one else can use them why wouldn't I? a small clan could KoS everyone and harvest all the car's, helicopters, books and beans on the server. In stage 2 of this scenario the clan would have all the books and the members would have players who don't participate in active combat because they have read all the books and they are too valuable to lose. By this point the only people who could knock them out of dominance on the server is another clan who has raped a different server in a similar fashion, killing everyone who dares set foot on it. While you mean well those of you reading this know it's exactly what would happen, in DayZ we are not contained by normal rules and as much as we'd like to think everyone will play nice, a portion will see a way to rise above the peons and carve out a nice little paradise in a zombie apocalypse. While Dean has not said it directly, he has said that he want a rise in improvised weapons and reduced spawns for the traditional gun's but that is something we will have to wait for some time to see how it plays out. -

I'll state again, the game is both immersive and meta. Player knowledge == character knowledge. You cannot then limit someones character while not limiting their actual knowledge. Examples: I know landnav and Chern almost like the back of my hand. My character does because I do even when he's a freshspawn. How in your system, would you limit this? I'm a medic. How could you limit one area of my skillset while still remaining immersive and meta? Once vehicles are added, how could you limit an actual mechanics knowledge to make repairs? Or a pilot to fly My point is, you cannot limit a characters knowledge and still remain the same game. The entire premise and sandbox style of the game would be altered and changed. -
If and when vehicles comes in SA; I want to be ecoterrorist and try to ruin all cars.

This made me laugh, first hoarding is bad....but not if i find the hoarders stash :) Im a hoarder....had a lot of 5-6 tent camps on the mod. We once made an epic one with 5+ vehicles, the server heli and loooads of tents. Was private so no hopping...all hard work. Having that raided was one of the most emotive moments in any video game iv ever had. I think i spent the next 2 hours of gameplay searching the map edges to get it all back :D -

I agree totally on air vehicles. Air vehicles serve to give 1 person/group of people the ability to destroy every camp and vehicle on the map in 1 play session. I should know.. My group on the mod controlled all 4 aircraft on a server for 4 months straight... and we were the only ones with any vehicles aside from the occasional ATV or motorbike. I found in the mod that vehicles kind of ruined the map for me. Bicycles and most cars/trucks didn't so much but air vehicles certainly did. Made the map feel so much smaller but I guess it will do that eventually once I am familiar with all the new stuff. Personally I want to see hunting, weather elements that are actually dangerous (namalsk would be my favorite map if it was larger) and base building/fortified houses. -

The focus of the game will surely change as it develops? At the moment, it is not really a survival game: the focus is on tactical combat (understandable, considering where the mod came from). But the potential is there for deep and interesting survival mechanics and plenty of "things to do" besides pvp combat. (At the moment, they are not there, I agree.) What's the point in having pristine clothes or shoes over damaged ones? None, at the moment, but body heat and feet condition could - and should in my opinion - be implemented in future. Sickness, health status, physical fitness, fatigue, injury - it's all pretty bare-bones right now, and doesn't make a huge difference to how you play. But if it's expanded upon in time, it adds a huge amount of depth to the survival experience. More interesting and varied gear will come: towns could be littered with loot - some of it useful, some of it craftable, some of it junk - the more the better! Potential for trade, etc. Vehicles! After their implementation, it will be time to start punishing people with fatigue if they constantly run around for mile upon mile, hour after hour - if you want to get around quickly, you still could in a vehicle, but it's more risky. Camps: take territory, control it, form a community, defend it, raid others. This gives you more objectives. Hunting, (fishing?), foraging: once the beans run out, you look to the land for sustenance - this opens up new techniques to master, and gives more purpose to camps/bases. More zombies! Creates fear, makes scavenging harder and riskier, creates atmosphere. How long has SA been running? A few months? Of course it's limited to combat-focus right now - it's based on a military simulator! But there is massive potential to buff up the survival aspects as development progresses.

I reckon there's a LOT they want to do before satisfying everyone's want for camps/bases/vehicles/etc. Personally I hope they don't come into the game until a lot later, when the servers are more stable/don't need to reset to respawn loot/zombies (can you imagine all the crying on the forums beasue "reset deleted my base" and such?), and the game's a bit more fleshed out. This isn't negative commentary on the devs though, you guys are doing an awesome job! Were it a bigger studio/company *cough*EA/Activision/Infinity Ward/Dice*cough* niggling issues like this would probably go unnoticed in lieu of an expansion pack or DLC to milk us of more money! -
I really want them to add vehicles. Its soo annoying where you have to run all the way to NWAF from kamyshovo.

I like the update. I've been messing with it despite some issues with graphics with the patch. B95 is cool and so is the speedloader for it. I haven't seen a cowboy hat or leather jacket yet though. Sewing Kit is awesome and finally now I understand how the Cleaning kit is intended to work. Now my demands... Crank up spawn on New items so we can see them and mess with them the first few days of experimental patch. Took me forever to find a Machete and find out it's worthless my fists are better. Stripper Clips for Mosin - Cut the SKS Clip in half recolor and make it work for the mosin and hold only 5 rounds boom there ya go. Foldable Bayonets for Mosin - RL Basis for this Yellow Boxes aren't protecting contents. Add Motorcycles when you add Vehicles. More 6 slot shirts. Can't wear vests or holster over down jackets. .... Ah Screw it I'll just make a video instead and post it in a week or two.
