Once you know where the crash sites are you can get to all of them in well under the time needed for a server restart if that is your mission, especially once vehicles are added. My find was a 28-30 odd fluctuating server, boring as ass playing on empty or low pop, no risk. I have run around and hit the helis plenty and got sfa admittedly, those two runs were 6 heli sites in total and everyone i hit looked like it hadn't been raided. Regardless, it still doesn't take long to get kitted with and AKM and attachments anyway, which is well enough to take out the nasties. This was where i was at before i dropped one of the M4's .. Main thing is, i don't mind higher end gear in game, just make that shit hard to get so it is worth keeping. Not the old every man and his dog with a DMR/AS50 etc camping the towns like the mod ended up. At the moment if i lose a fully kitted M4 or AKM it is extremely easy to get gunned up again, generally under an hour. If i get something better than either of those, i want to know it is worth keeping because i had to spend a long time looking for it. -

I have almost finished up our Epoch server with the help of two other UGAlliance admins. So far it is running really smooth. If you're looking for a fresh start on a new server then give us a shot. It sounds like you described the only practical way to handle high end loot. Items should be very rare and only found in specific areas. And some items have additional rarity by virtue of the attachment system as mentioned. This has been the template so far and I don't know if there are any other ways to implement it. Things like a gillie suit or night vision goggles clearly have an advantage over standard camo or headlamps and thus qualify as high end and very rare. I think you may be splitting hairs a bit when it comes to which firearms should be rare/high end and which should be common, but everything else makes sense. And speaking of vehicles, things like working batteries and good tires I see as being high end whereas vehicles themselves might be common. Not sure how that worked in the mod. -

That assumes that vehicles themselves aren't rare and/or difficult to get up and running. Likewise, it assumes that travel is inconsequential (see the "limited resources" bit above, which could mean limited fuel resources as well). I think a discussion needs to be had on what should be in the controlled, limited, "loot management" system. Because I'm not convinced that most of the weapons that were so-called "high-end" in DayZ mod, warrant artificial limitation. In other words, take the DMR. I don't think, especially now that weapons come separately from magazines and optics (which is a whole different rarity balance ballgame) that something like a semi-automatic BR/DMR needs to be regulated. Because it may not confer that huge of an advantage over something like a scoped Mosin. However, something like a .338 LM sniper rifle... or a pair of NVGs... or a GPMG... I could see the case being more apparent for those types of items being regulated. -

I've 300+ hours and I'm already nostalgic for the neaf! I'm cool with whatever changes the devs make but I don't think we'll have players all over the map until vehicles. I think the neaf might be a good candidate for a random helicopter crash spawn site. In any case the layout of the land still makes it a great for squad v squad take and hold scenarios. -

Well, honestly, I've been playing the mod since it came out, and I was very surprised to see how fast you can run in the Stand Alone. It takes 20 mins from the NEAF to the NWAF.... Bicycles were very useful in the mod, but I don't think I'll be using them much in the SA. Other vehicles probably since they'll act as mobile bases. At the OP (Jumpingpea), good luck finding yourself! (You're in the northern part of the map. The roads you were following are there because they'll add cities and town in those areas. Back in December, all the roads for Svetlojarsk, Chernaya Polana, Novo and other small settlements were already there even though it took a few months to get the actual buildings and towns in those areas. Just head south. When you log in a server, look at the time, if you're in the after-noon and the sun is setting, keep it on your right shoulder and you'll head south east. If it's the morning, then the sun will be east so keep it on your left shoulder and you'll be heading south west, towards what's left of civilization. ;) )

Below i will show you a list with all our stuff. - Selfmade NPC Base (Everything is selfmade and you can get there high building and weapon loot) - WAI Missions - DZMS Missions - Indestructible Bases - Build Snapping - No Buildinglimit - No Decay (Everything stays till it will be deleted by an admin) - Deploy Bike - Tow and Lift - Selfbloodbag - Refuel / Repair - Elevator - Custom Map (added a few things like "military bases" where you can find weapons and that stuff but there is no AI) - Custom Trader City (a complete selfmade trader city with traders for everyone) - Custom Trader Prices (increased nearly all weapon prices to make it easier to get money) - More Vehicles - More Weapons (added many weapons to the traders and most of them can be found at AI) - Dance on Fire - Take Clothes - Admin Trade (you can buy some things like metal floors by an admin to save you the long crafting time, we also offer an btr90hq) We have an team with german and english admins so everytime you need help you should get it, also we are searching for new admins so if you think you can do that job and stay fair just message us. I think when tents/persistent storage become available it will feel a bit more dayzesque. I also think vehicles and increased zed counts will help with the Dayz feel. I'm not talking about the 1000 vehicle servers but a few cars/trucks, the main bulk of vehicles should be bicycles. Also reducing the amounts of canned food and drink will give Dayz a more apocalyptic feel as things like canned goods and petrol should start to become scarce and players will have to start learning to survive rather than shooting and looting everything that moves. Now I don't want to remove PvP, just give people more options to survive, alone or in a group and promote bartering amongst players. I realize it happens now but its easier to just kill a player for things needed to survive, that's the only real interaction between players have with each other right now, trading bullets instead of things to get by for another hour/day -

For some time now I am managing a nice list on the forum where all the private hive servers are listed with all their details. Because of the big increase in private hive servers over the months I am starting a new list: The Private Hive Server Blacklist. Since private hive servers do not really fall under the server hosting rules of the Dayz mod it is good to have a watchdog which can inform the community to avoid certain servers that have been reported as dishonest and accused for things such as admin abuse or foul play. A blacklist made by and for our private hive community. Please note that this is a community blacklist, and no actual servers will actually be taken down. This is a community blacklist of servers to warn other players of abusive and untrustworthy servers amongst the DayZ Community. First I would like to do a little introduction about myself. I am the admin of the European DayZ Community Servers, a set of private hives hosted by BR4INZ Squad. Since I am an admin myself I know all about what admins can and can not do on private hives and have a better understanding what falls under abuse or just server management. So many factors determine a reporting of a server and if a server/admin can actually be classified as bad. Players should understand that being the server admin gives you certain powers and overviews over your servers that normal players do not have. Having these tools and powers should not be the reason of a report if they are being used discretely and fair. I also play on the server I am admin on. Can I see everything and everybody on the map? Yes. Do I need to see everything on the map to better admin my server? Yes. Do I use it for my own gain and benifit? Never. Do I use it when I am playing myself? Never (totally spoils my joy of the game). Can I add gear to somebodies inventory or teleport somebody/vehicles to another location just by altering the database? Yes. Do I ever do this aside from replacing broken stuff to their spawnpoint? Never. On my server we also have a very tight community where everybody knows eachother and they ofcourse all know me since I keep a tight communication with all my players. They all know what I can do as an admin but there is an overall trust by the community that I am only using my powers for server management or problem solving. Kind of like doctor and patient or lawyer and client confidentiality. Trust in a server admin comes first, trusting him that he has his server and his community in its best interest. The reporting of a server can ofcourse not be done without some solid proof in the form of screenshots, videos or other screencaptures and not through storytelling alone. Reporting a server can ONLY be done as a pm to me so I can filter out the reports that are not properly substantiated. Public reports by replying to this topic will be ignored and removed. In your private message please provide the server name and IP along with the evidence you have collected. Examples of reasons for reporting a server could be: servers having no good monitor against scripters (so lot of scripting accures) admins abusing their powers for their own benifit (kicking/banning for no reason, database alterations for own benifit) servers having a bad community (majority of the players are abusive) servers being very unstable (disappearing stuff, laggy, lot of bugs) bad communications (unannounced server restarts/rollbacks, kicking/banning without explanation) Over the upcoming days/weeks I will alter this post as we determine some good criteria on what classifies a server as bad. All your opinions will probably differ on that a bit but feedback is ofcourse welcome and I will take everything into consideration to tweak the process to a honest one where no servers get put on the list under false eligations. Tents/persistant storage Increaced zombie count Stamina system That would probs get me playing more...add... Vehicles Finished Map Infections And il never look back :) It just feels like a stripped out dayz still, when a few of the features from the mod make it back in (tents/camps) in particular, it will start to feel a lot more like dayz. People wont be out soley to Kos....well some will....but most combat will be random encounters while you are trying to do something else....stock a tent....get car parts...ect ect :) -

The core of the DayZ SA is what Rocket envisioned as a survival game with zombies, but wasn't able to achieve to its full potential due to the limitations of having to mod a military/combat simulation game. I've played the mod practically since it came out and have seen the many changes it has undergone, some were ok others just have nothing to do with a zombie invested survival game anymore. So what we have now is back to the roots of the zombie survival game on an engine specifically coded for just that kind of environment. If you play the mod you will notice that all the popular servers are running mods that have tons of vehicles and high powered weapons, as that is what seems to rustle most kids jammies. If you are into those things the DayZ mods provide then I would say, don't bother buying the SA. If you are looking for a slower paced more survival game, then DayZ SA is specifically made for you.

and not to mention the fact there really is no end game. there is no "sidechat". so its quiet and lonely zombies are rare.... no vehicles. basically you walk around 7/10 buildings are empty, spend 10 mins hiking to the next town to find the same. encounter one zombie and have a klusterfuck buggy boxing match with it then walk around for a hour with a black and white screen because you took damage. so no end game. IT will be sweet once vehicles and zombies are actually added. its still in alpha so all these things aren't a surprise. its expected. imo get it have a few hours of laughs and wait till it gets more developed

I concur with this. Over 500 hours in, and havent touched it in 2 months, having moved on to breaking point mod for now. BP has more weapons, vehicles, better medical, and runs on a much more polished engine. not to say it doesnt have its share of issues, but right now it is more entertaining overall. when more content is added and zombies are fixed, many of us will return to see how it has panned out.

Dont know if any of you know this, but DayZ has no rules or right/wrong ways to play. I may not agree with it, but if someone wants to camp and kill fresh spawns only, or a bambi wants to knock out a fully geared players(which I think is always hilarious btw) then they should be able to, because thats the magic of DayZ. No rules, No right or wrong ways of playing. You can play solely to gear up an kill people or the opposite extreme, get a boonie hat, a fishing pole, splitting axe and some matches among a few other things and you can play as a survivalist that never touches a gun or an assault vest and just hunts and fishes and reads books by the fire. What other game caters to so many different playstyles? What other game can you sit and read an entire book while cooking up the fresh fish and deer that you just caught yourself with the improvised bow and arrow that you just crafted over the fire pit you made? Its all how you want to play and what you make of it. Everyone's different playstyles creates different gameplay situations for people to react to...That's Amazing! IMO Once vehicles and base building are in....holy shit! this game is going to be sooo good. Having to repair vehicles and build bases along with everything we can already do and all the things we haven't even heard of yet, will give us so much to do. The PVP dynamic will change up so that instead of 99% of everyone running around this huge map barley running into each other, just to gear up and die in PVP, we will have people repairing vehicles and building bases, fishing, hunting and cooking. People roaming about to find resources, having purposes instead of just gearing up to kill someone else. So many new goals for us to have and things for us to do. The interactions and experiences we have with each other will have so much more meaning behind it that PVP will become much more personal and intense then it has ever been. Anyways, Im running on here. TLDR, You cant tell people how to play DayZ. DayZ is what you make it and has no right or wrong ways to play.
