    How do you feel about melee combat?

    I know there is a limit of what they can do with the engine. I would like them to work on the accuracy and the general smoothness of the melee weapons. Some hit high, some to the right, some low, and some perfectly. If the animation was smoother I think that would help a lot. Also I'm think the characters move faster than they might once it is fully released. I know they have running set faster than it will be since there are no vehicles, and they will tone it down. Whether that translates to the circle running speed of melee combat I'm unsure of.

    DayZ: Mod or Standalone?

    All of this is simply my opinion: 1) Frankie is really good at creating videos, but they're fiction. Enjoyable, yes, but fiction. Check out Sacriel and PsiSyndicate for mod play. They're somewhat contrasting play styles, but honest. I think Jackfrags is also on the level. 2) The Mod has a lot more content than the standalone has now: there are no vehicles, no tents, and far fewer weapons in the standalone. 3) The standalone will absolutely surpass the mod. I have no interest in the mod anymore, personally, as the changes and improvements render it boring to me at this point. The standalone has far more buildings that can be entered, the map has been changed and contains new cities and buildings, and will continue to be developed. That said, arma 2 is an awesome game in its own right, and the wasteland mission is a lot of fun, and it's cheap. Right now the SA is cheap, too. I bought arma 3 in its alpha and it's now almost three times what it cost then. I think many people who are buying standalone miss that fact. They're not buying a finished game. They're buying a game that will be finished for a lot less than it will cost when it's done, and are granted the ability to help in its development.

    well if that was true he would of proably said that in the last video 3 days ago . only thing he rearly said of much intrest was bicycles maybe in soon that is all. hope im wrong but he said vehicles would be out before beta which is 6-9months away yet.
  4. bicycles i gope when added are plenty. you can imagine how many people have bikes and they should be common now like 2 a server. my fav vehicle from mod was the blue " love " bus as i called it. everytime i pass a broken one in sa now im sad it dont work :( hopefully they dont add stupid milatary vehicles though. nothing worse than hummer with mg42 :lol: . i do want helicopters though as alot of people like them and it gives great gameplay at same time. B)

I'd like to have a realistic balance of car types : old beatem 4x4s, rusty 90s hatchbacks, eastern-block cars, old sedans and wagons, less military ones ( but keeping rare UAZ or humvees ), small delivery trucks, vans, and some emergency vehicles. If they remake the cars just like they remade the inventory, that yould be awesome : changeable, damagable and fixable parts ( swapping engines, charging batteries replacing parts like radiator or alternator, 4x4 being only 2x4 with a damaged driveshaft, engines running on 3 cylinders resulting in lower speeds, etc ), better physics and handling, speeds reajusted ( come on, in real life you can do 60kph easily in a field, it would just ruin the suspension after a while ), pushstarting cars with empty battery, different fuel types, etc What could be nice too is to have way more cars on the map, but making some of them not fixable ( just usefull as spare parts ) or not worth fixing ( with too many broken parts ).

    I remember playing on an epoch server just before the release of standalone, the players on the server were a good lot, but the admin kept spawning about 70-80 bright yellow SUVS everytime the server restarted. It kind of defeated the object, just being able to jump into one of the best land vehicles you could find straight after death. He did the same with push bikes and loot too. Then, to make things worse the admins started teleporting around a lot. We left the server quite quickly. The wall bug is annoying me on the current build though, i've seen so many people do it. Although, I'm sure it will be fixed by next patch.
  7. Tents in the mod were bound to the server on which you deployed them. They were also incredibly glitchy. I can't tell you how many I donated to the wilds of Chernarus trying to get them too close to trees in order to avoid being set on fire. Actually, they were completely open to whoever found them, so they would just be rifled and emptied. They had 50 item slots, and had limitations to how many backpacks and weapons you could store in them. I think it was 50/2/1, but I could be wrong (items, weapons, backpacks). Which meant, you had a total of 50 item slots, but couldn't put five primary weapons in, each taking up 10 slots. You could have two weapons, if primaries that would be 20 slots right there. Something like that. I'm going from memory, and I'm drinking, so ... Tents were cool for stashing extra food, weapons, and ammo. I used them a lot in the mod, but the more I think about it the more it breaks the idea of permadeath. Same thing with vehicles. If you died, you could just make your way to your tent/vehicle, though the latter were much harder to hide. I'd store extra maps, compasses, NVGs, hunting knives, etc., so I could be fully geared just getting to the tent/vehicle location.
  8. I fucking hope not. At least not on the public hive portion. Private hives will likely be able to define more parameters, but hopefully there won't be admin tool suites created and disseminated, otherwise the inevitable admin abuse shit will start happening all over again. I mean beyond the restarts after death crap that's apparently happening now. And "twentington eleventy vehicles!" You really need to be able to pronounce Elektrozavodsk. Spoken in a deep voice with a Russian accent it's glorious. Practice. ;-P

    NWAF - You lied to me

    Don't worry op, once more guns and vehicles are put into the game NWAF will most likely become as active as it was in the mod. IMO, the risk/time/effort isn't worth it to go up to NWAF.

  12. the difference is people are curious and would like to know about vehicles and base building . why is a answer based on people "whining" ? this is often the response. as said i myself dont mind waiting but as in the video why would you put in hunting before a core feature like vehicles? is hunting going to create more enjoyment than vehicles or base building. no. key features should be worked on first ! not last or later. key content vehicles base building zombies/fixes on walking through walls fps/cpu core optimization those first before more hats , more shirts, more torches, more tins of food.

    Vehicles will be implemented when they get implemented. Begging and whining won't speed up the process. If the devs to succumb to the begging and whining and implement them early, people will just bitch about how broken they are. So let them do their fricking job so it can be done right.
  15. 18 minutes in i think he talks about bike maybe added first but realistically looks like its not priority yet as hunting is first. then when hunting is done vehicles maybe next but that could be 6-9months. which will be along time in between. hopefully it isnt that long as honestly i dont think 9 months is really exceptable to get vehicles working.
  16. Heard on stream that Rocket was in that vehicles in less than 6 months. Either way, makes no odds to me. They will be here when they get here. In the mean time I'm just as happy to explore the map on foot finding the cool stuff and great views you don't get from the road.

Last time i heard Rocket mention the vehicles and it was on the euro gamer stream(a few days ago) he didnt say when but he did say they pretty much had enough to release the first vehicle they just needed to tidy a few things up( what that means id only be guessing) but it may not make you happy to know vehicle 1 is a bike... as in push bike i believe i am sure he would say motor bike if he ment that all he said was bike.....

B) we approaching 1.5 million in sales ca-ching :D so...with the game doing so well sales wise and a decent sized dev team and studio behind the game now can we have some updates on the main core features and any projections or pointers to when and how the real meat in the game or you may call it game content is being added? this isnt a i want it now, im happy to wait. i just would like to know what is going to be done roughly or a idea on what is planned. alot of people are waiting for these particular , bases or base building and vehicles. B) those two are what most people are really waiting before getting there teeth into Dayz in current state/build. now...as i pointed out we believe in the game, we brought into the concept we paid in we have brought 1.5 million copies of Dayz ! dayz has got tripple a title kind of money in now so work rate needs to be upped.you cant just farm out small items with the money thats flowing in now.i know recent updates have been frequent but they have mainly been small items. so can we know about such vital game mechanics ? dont need to know exact dates, it isnt a dummy out the pram i want now. its just a rough time frame or somekind of outlining to what is being done on these two massive game features which most people are frantically waiting for. the last thing is personally seen ,read on this topic was on reddit and was a single sentance which mentioned upto 6 months over a month ago. i dont know how many others feel but hats and small items arnt going to cut it for another 6 months before those key features are added.many will be bored by then. so can we please be updated on these features thankyou. :)
  19. As of now, you will see my crew and I haging out in Bere and Svet - we like the new scenery and Bere seems to be having a lot more traffic than earlier SA. We help fresh spawn as much as possible but love the sound of distant gunfire and snooping around. Once vehicles / reasons to move inland (tents, hunting etc.) become implemented I would imagine your problem with low traffic at NWAF will change, the only reason we hang out on the coast area is because there is not much to go inland for once you have checked out the new geography. BTW LeeFriendField - I LOVE your sig :D and you should add Svetlo to the vote!
  20. Welcome to this thread. I'll introduce you to XolioZ, a belgian/french-made dayz-like Minecraft server, featuring a huge 100km2 replica of your favorite game's map. We've been working on that map since nearly an year, and we just opened an english version of the server and we're gonna be looking for players ( and maybye janitors ). The total amount of player in our database is over 20.000 (99% french), and we've been running servers since 2011. The server is actually called XolioZ+, in opposition with the old version of XolioZ ( XolioZ Classic now ), wich did not featured a custom launcher nor a chernarus map. It features 3d guns with proper balistics, working vehicles with multiple seats, custom loot system wich allows you to pick up the loot just like in DayZ, new blocks used for making the map, all the original chernarus data : heightmap, roads, forests, cities, and many features like real-time synchronization, multi-server hive, anti-combatlog, and many others. The server is completely free to play on, there is no shop, no VIP, and no ads on the website. We finance it by donnations. For now, only the south parts of the map are considered "done" ( don't mind the map above, it's out-of-date, we put it to show how much it is compared to the old one ), the following cities are visitable and spawn loot : Pavlovo, Kamenka, Bor, Komarovo, Balota, Kozlovka, Nadezhino, Chernogorsk ( and it's suburbs ), Progordski, Mogilevka, Pusta, Elektrodavodsk, Staroye, Kamyshovo, Tulga and Solnichniy. That is 16 cities to visit ! Plus the other interest points, like castles, camps, bases, etc. We plan on making the whole chernarus, but it takes time. Wanting to join ? Translations aren't perfect, we know that. I'll now be answering your questions, remarks, and critics.
  21. You haven't played the mod, have you? It's probably going to be like with vehicles there. They exist on that particular server only. About buildings in general is all I heard from rocket that there won't be overground buildings but maybe you can barricade an already existing structure. But letting players build stuff has issues. A lot of guys are dickheads and will block off high value loot zones or whatever just to piss of other players. So they gotta be careful with that mechanic. But Rocket is aware of that.

    Would phones/internet work in Case of Apocalypse

    Everything civilian goes down when the power fails. Some parts have diesel powered back-up generators, but these are only fuelled for 24 hours constant running. Invest in good 2 way radios and solar charging systems. GPS/GLONAS runs until satellites start to fall out of orbit. As you need to be able to receive 3 different GPS signals to get a decent positional fix, you're looking how well their automated systems work at holding orbit and how much fuel they carry for the thrusters. Use diesel fueled vehicles as modern petrol degrades quite quickly without the correct additives.

    Mods for DayZ...

    What mods would you like to see for dayz (in future, obce game is finished) ? Mods for dayz-mod upgraded game significanly, by ading new maps and contents. Some mods are much better than original (Origins, Aftermath - if they finished it earlier). Some mods brought tons of weapons and vehicles, some changed dificulty of gameplay. What maps would you like to see? My favorites are Lingor and Namalsk. Do you think there will be option for NPCs and missions editor (simple missions like find, kill, steal)?

    movement speed

    yes i dont like the fact i can sprint everywhere, however without vehicles it would just be boring... i would sit in one area as running from one place to another is too difficult and requires to much effort so when they add vehciles they should implement this, not yet though. it is a good idea and well laid out

    Direction of development: rocket & co. please read!

    I'm... not... going... to... say... it... Watch this: TBH, your concerns about the direction of development are unfounded. What you are writing about as trivial and little things are some of the bigger problems for modders of the RV engine contend with. As someone who has tried with limited success to create a MP-capable weather sync system for ArmA3, I can tell you the engine actively fights you on this. If Dean and team have found a fix for this, brilliant! But it still needs testing, which is our main purpose here. As to some of the issues with the Zs, this is an ongoing problem. It hasn't seen significant changes in the public builds as it is only a placeholder system ATM. It is intended to be completely rewritten at some point, and fixing the existing system would just be so much wasted development time. We've got a long way to go. Wee've got at least 6 months before they are looking to include vehicles. That's a lot of time to fix bugs and reinforce the basic framework they'll be hanging everything else off of. A lot of the small things they are adding is simply because the framework already supports them.
