Why putting heart attacks in game makes no sense

I think at this stage in the DEV cycle when cars are still not implemented and we are forced to run for 10 to 20 straight minutes to get anywhere valuable that implementing this feature is slightly counter productive.... Maybe after vehicles have been introduced this would be a more interesting mechanic, but to have something might slow down travel when there is NO other way to get around might make the game tedious. We shall see tho. -
the list is incomplete, we should be able to have cheese-fueled vehicles as well

Gave you beans for being so helpful and full of information on this post. People do read your stuff =). I still believe though instead of hunting (IMO Lots of food, often leave cans of beans etc behind, its not hard to maintain Energized once you have it) AND barricading (Which im sure has something to do with base building, but could care less right now due to the actual mechanics of building a base probably wont be added for months) really shouldn't be the key priority but hey! that's just my opinion. I could even care less about zombies walking through walls unless they add a lot more soon, which you did state they are working on... with lack of zombies that is the hardest part/scariest part of them right now. Besides mainly wanting vehicles sooner then later, I just want to be able to craft a fire and cook food etc.. but im getting off topic.. An updated and a little more thorough roadmap too keep us all in the loop would be nice =) I am happy you compiled that information for everyone out of Rockets streams etc.. But im still with OP (I know your not against OP) an official statement in a post from Rocket would be the best right now to prevent people, including me from constantly asking when is this/that coming. I dont really think thats asking too much (I know hes doing a great job) -

We already have vehicles. Just get in a house and watch your vehicle try to budge his/her way around chairs, tables and stairs. -

It'd still be in the Alpha phase, and close to where it is now. They've got their schedule, and I hope they continue with both the pace and the direction. I'm also a huge fan of bases, hunting/cooking/crafting, etc (vehicles aren't really necessary when you can transverse the map in an incredibly short time). However, Rocket and company do this for a job. We do this for fun/hobby/a sadism fix. Probably best to let them do what they're employed for, and not backseat/armchair develop. -

Sometimes I think my posts are invisible...or maybe they are to fitting and would end a discussion? Or...I don't know...maybe too long? Or are you afraid of my avatar? Whatever: A concern that is good to be stated. Even if you could argue like you did that all the "not hardcore dayz players are not welcome" (which is BS, we all were not-hardcore-dayz-players at some point...), and that the alpha warning said something like "Don't buy this game except you want to help develop it", to keep a larger playerbase would be nice. But the comign key features are mentioned here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/156129-confirmed-upcoming-features-for-dayz/ Ok, I understood that sentence (I hope, if I'm wrong, apologies) : Even if they made 1 Billion, it would not had speeded up development at this point. They did hire additional staff, but you can't just hire 10 programmers, place them in chairs and tell them:"Go, 5 of you make performance optimization, the other 5 kill that zombie wall glitch" - they would destroy more than they would repair, it would take ages to get a result and in the end it would be worse. You have to introduce them slowly, sho them the whole concept, show them, what is worked on by whom, what is already in the making and how things are connected. And the worst part: they have to get to know the database. Oh my, how did I hate that. You can't program properly if you don't know the core datatabases by heart and know how it might change. So, short: Additional staff hired: Yes. Will speed up development: In a big project the (very) rough estimation is from one month to three month until a newly hired programmer is working productive. Additionally, it's impossible to have any amount of people work on a complex task, because they will stand in each others way, it will make it even more complex... Well....no. It's not that way (I hope^^) why some things get implemented earlier than others has 3 main reasons: 1) What is possible to make with the code that is already existing 2) what is a precondition for something else (like crafting is an absolute essential before having vehicles) 3)priorites set by the devs. And this 3rd point is the least important one in a programming project. Again: That's what you believe. I'd say bases would come out top or even hunting before vehicles. Maybe even something else like Physics or improvised weapons.. And also IF it would come on top with 100%, it wouldn't mean that the devs COULD do it faster. (look at the previous answer for details.) POSSIBLE does not mean "fast", "easy" or "without problems". Just that it won't cause as much work as other vehicles will make. And programming a placeholder would take time - time a programmer could use to implement something that is useful in the future and won't get thrown away. Remember: Alpha. That means, they will not use placeholders as far as it is possible, instead they will focus on things that can be used in the future as well. I really don't know how long it would take to insert "placeholder cars" (like: just spwaning, never need gas, other parts just driving around) but I'm pretty sure that a) it would take some time b) players would not be happy about that solution and c)they would be annoyed ifn they would hear that the team spent time on something that will be useless soon... -

thamac yes i understand others do have other priorities but...do a poll vehicles and base building in whatever for would be top 5 every time. weapons guns just do what can be done already with mosin or m4s one shot kill thats it. cars bases give ten times as much gameplay element and keep people playing. what im kinda worried about is i dont tihnk the large amount of people who brought in early are going to stay for 6-9 months for vehicles and bases. some will not think just say good they are not hardcore dayz players but that is not good for the game. i would like content and keep alot of the playerbase aswell. best way of doing this is to communicate about the key features which will keep them focused on dayz. this is where you see if they are bothered or not as like many projects now once you see and have money in why do you have to do anything in any order or rush ? there is always the dev way of looking at a project and a gamers way of looking at it. none is wrong but just remeber the whole thing should work for the gamers first as they pay for the project . its no good just looking from dev eyes saying no we will do this first content wise its easier if players dont want that first ! if a poll was done which do you want first ? vehicles , bases or hunting ? which you think would come out top? you already know yourselfs which would it would be vehicles ! thats what im talking about. there are dev priorities and gamers priorities and most gamers want the fun the good content first that matters. i think theres nothing wrong with that and shouldnt be trodden on or classed as whining. hopefully we have somekind of word soon on the big content and what is being done. i have a feeling that cars and stuff like that hasnt evn been touched. bicycles will be done soon because why ? its nothing different is it than te mod apart from artisic really. quick skim over put bike in. also why hasnt cars been put in as place holder ? while new vehicles are being made ? this would of made game more enjoyable while waiting. then replaced or updated when they are ready. -

I dont get why people mark this thread as whining. It is a fair question to ask what is happening, after all we paid for the game. Nobody here is asking for vehicles and base building to be implemented in a week but an overall update wouldn't hurt. -

TBH, your priority list is exactly that, YOUR priorities. I for instance would like them to develop more weapons and different weapons to combat the M4+Mosin supremacy that is going on right now. The only reason i ever pick up an SKS is because some clanmate might not have a gun. but as soon as i'm able, i go to the military bases and get an m4 + search for a long range scope for a mosin. I'd like to see different weapons, different scopes. Night Vision+scopes, granades, so much more to evolve the combat before even thinking of vehicles. With the current sprint mechanics vehicles are not THAT big a deal to me. (other then a combat chopper :P) I'd also love to see sickness, hunting etc in before vehicles but that is all my opinion, just like your's and it means nothing becuase the devs will have their own roadmap and some of my point might be on it and some of your might be also. -

I have always enough food, so I don't think it's an issue at the moment. Yeah, We need vehicles, even if its a bike before 6 months.. Barricading and Hunting I could really care less about at this time. Barricading from what? and there is plenty of food right now to do without hunting.. Im not saying these wont be nice features, but we need better mobility and some permanent storage soon, hopefully a lot sooner then 6 months... Kinda upsets me knowing ill probably be playing different things by then if there is still lack of content. Getting bored of collecting medical supplies that do nothing, and just switching my looks. ANYWAYS, still love the game, know it has lots of potential, HOWEVER I do believe they need to rethink their priorities if they want everyone to stick around. -

Guys labeling any question on this forum as whines and begging and so forth pisses me the fuck off, people have the right to ask questions without dumbasses trolling them and telling them to "wait and stop whining". If you cant contribute to the topic or answer the guy then stay away and save the rest of the community for you bad mood. NOW. Dean said that they are not gonna use the Arma vehicles and that they are not gonne realese em until they are done right wich to me would sound like 2-3 months at least. He said though that they will be added in before the alpha runs over to beta wich is to be in 6-12 months prob the later. However Dean did say they were gonne add inn a bike earlier wich the pretty much got rdy just need to polish it a bit. for myself i cant wait to get some wheels in game. -

ive got nothing against hunting man its one of my favourite things :lol: if you check my youtube channel for instance my favourite game i play is theHunter :) so yes im all for hunting its just in dayz i dont think it should come before a bigger core feature or gameplay element than vehicles or base building / fortification. the reason i think those should be in first is its add to the game large playability and keeps the community playing. this is very important to the community as you can only keep players playing for so long before getting bored. the last thing we want is vehicles or bases being added and other things only for the vast majority of playerbase to of given up and moved on as they were sick of waiting for the content to be added. the company wouldnt be that bothered as the money is already in but the playerbase wouldnt recover as they would of moved on and playing something else. thats why i would like to see/know about what is happening. i have no problem waiting some games ive played 5 years and still to make it to the lime light they deserve but atleast we knew what was what and what to expect . that makes a big difference ;) -
How long have you been playing for? On vanilla servers there are 40 vehicles, I think. That includes about 10 bicycles - so they are still pretty rare!

I was playing some DayZ Mod today...fuck, I forget how hard it was compared to the game lol, I actually had to crawl around looking for some food, worrying about the zombies...they are fucking everywhere! It was awesome!! I'm gonna be playing much more DayZ mod again :D I got a question though...where are all the vehicles? I literally haven't found any...and I mean ANY, not even a wrecked one. Are they still in-game, right?

No Tag Gaming Casual Multi-Gaming Organization Hey Guys, another Epoch Server . This is a brand new server with a clean database. Listed below are the mods with the latest revision. I don't want to say "HIGH FPS" or any other buzzwords to attract players.. Jump in give it test run, the server will speak for itself. Currently we are looking for a few clans / groups/ organizations to come and setup shop on the server.We will be offering a custom building for Clans / Groups to their liking. Building material costs are reasonable and Help / support from the admins is a priority. (Base management aka deleting walls & Etc.) We are running events that are up to the player base. Convoys / Base defenses / City Sweeps / Hostage Rescue / and any event that a group might design or come up with. Custom rewards will be given to the team that wins based on the difficulty of the events. This server is getting back to the basics. No Tanks, or vehicles that can take major amounts of damage that can squash a player flat. There are added additions to the map, NWAF , Green Mountain, NEAF totally reworked as well as other military outposts spread out to balance the map. MODS: PLENTY OF VEHICLES / HELI'S NO PLOT POLE REQUIREMENT NO MAINTAIN AREA REQUIREMENT ADDED HELICOPTERS BELL VARIANTS AND MERLIN LIFT CHOPPERS ADDED ALL SCAR WEAPONS TO THE TRADERS Ai Heli/Plane crashes that spawn loot. Can be shot down! Ai Missions: These missions are pretty tough but the rewards outweigh the risk. Self Bloodbag Halo Jump Spawn Repair / Refuel / Rearm: At all fuel stations on the map as well as Fuel Pumps. (Hint) Snapping 1.6 + Base Building Tool. Indestructible Base Building SafeTrade : Fire your weapon in safezones see what happens, also slows vehicles in trade zones too keep the the hit and runs to a minimum. SafeTowing: You cannot Tow Locked Vehicles SafeHeliLift: You cannot Lift Locked Vehicles Other features will be added if the request is high. Active admins will be around to catch Derps Derpin the Derp. This server was created to have a balanced PVP Environment. Also this server is not PAY TO WIN or a BUSINESS. The layout of the map will get you a solid weapon in a short period of time. Suggestions are always welcome and will be implemented if the majority agrees. There is just one problem with this post really you say key content but its your key content the last 2 zombie fixes optimization there not so much content as they are fixes and i think you added them in to give weight to your hey where are my vehicles etc etc... Seeing as this is a survival game i would think the features that help make it a survival game are key content hunting cooking ill effects from weather etc... Vehicles are late game content and they want to do them right but they are not a key element of survival they are just what you and yes many others want to get your hands on ... But lets look at it this way you want them to get them in now by slapping in arma 2 cars which would suck.. you want them to slap them in soon in what ever half revamped state there in so there buggy in complete or do you want to wait 6 to 9 months and have something cool that works for the full game , me ill take the later.. You say you will get bored waiting well take a few months of this is an alpha not a full game we testing and sounds like your just playing and going hey the things i want arent in yet..... -

Electro is where the party is at, and always will be. Most players, myself included just want to have a little fun off the bat. It can be frustrating to spend several hours, if not an entire day running from airfield to airfield, get bored due to lack of any presence and make your way back down to the coast only to get shot in less than an hour of arriving back. The fact that squads or player groups happily dupe items for each other only adds to the problem. Many players legitimately "work" for their gear; myself also included, and get shot by glitching squads in coastal areas, so there's no real incentive for many people to go to the effort of grinding for hours only to get killed in an unfair manner sometimes. Even when vehicles are added, they will mainly be used to speed up the grinding process to and from airfields before heading back down to the coast to rain some fire on bambi's. -

All of the above. The more the merrier to a point. We do not need 500 total vehicles per server. More pedal bikes, motorcycles and quads. Less 4x4s and military vehicles. As already stated by others I hope the coming system is totally re-vamped to make it more complicated and time consuming to maintain a vehicle. Also - no helis. They became the EZ mode way to own the entire map in the mod and really killed any kind of base building. I for one do not want the SA to become a giant heli hunt/war.
