Someone already suggrested building fires but after watching a video of a the revolution in Ukraine I think this would add dimension and depth to urban warzones of Cherno and Elektro. You could use tires and other trash you pick up to light them on fire to create a smokescreen to conceal your movements and provide concealment from snipers. You could also use these as smoke signals for regrouping. It would also create a dual use for tires as people could then steal tires off vehicles (once they are implemented) If you find a half fixed up vehicle and want to use the tires for an assault on Cherno/ Elektro. Right now since we don't have smoke grenades theres effectively no deterrent for snipers unless you want to countersnipe and find someone that wants to play bait

No, it takes 5 minutes of copy & paste to port the entire game to Arma 3 and have access to all files, even roaming completely free around Chernarus+ in Vehicles, Choppers or Planes.

Only once the new victor steps forward laying out their rules, else it is everyone for themselves or in very small groups. You're making the jump very quickly from no rule to warlord governance and just missing the entire section in between. I'm not arguing our ability to find normalcy and adapt, but only that there is a progression and transition from one state to another and the game takes place in the void between. The "KoS" argument or attempt to understand, define, limit, mitigate, or even categorize in any meaningful way is a lost cause. Too many factors come into play. There are those looking to just kill anything and you seem to think they are the majority, the ones always dealing death and killing you on what you believe is sight. I do not believe they are, as you have stated about human interaction in a similar situation, the majority. Just the ones you hear about, read about, have dealt with, or remember the most. There are simply too many factors involved in why someone makes the decisions they do, some not so much but generally speaking a multitude of factors create our decisions. You're also forgetting that maybe 30% of the features of the game are in place. This is a huge reason pvp is the end goal, but don't mistake pvp for your notion of what "KoS" is. As more an more features are implemented people will have more to do rather than just pvp. However, as human interaction goes this game is very limited in body language and expression which constricts our ability to judge hostility or underlying motive. So, people will still kill to gain loot/gear/vehicles/whathaveyou and people will still kill to defend it because we're limited in our ability to interpret the player behind the avatars. If you want to remove "KoS" or banditry you'll just have to wait for private hives, because people will always be able to kill you regardless of what header the server places in it's title. You could try 1pp servers and/or the experimental servers, I can tell you there are generally less people with the intent of just pvp. That's not to say it won't happen, you'll just find more non-hostile interactions to be more common. Many times I've ran into someone and we both size each other up, offer each other supplies, offer intel on looted and cleared areas, and head our separate ways. Much like I would assume would actually happen. The abuse of 3pp is a huge motivator for people to simply kill indiscriminately because of the physical security it offers while using cover. And considering it allows for that abuse, and what I consider game-breaking playability, it comes with the territory that you will have more people killing from a secure hide. Limits to LoS goes out the window and so do most common or even advanced tactics while playing 3pp, the same cannot be said for 1pp.

Hello everyone ! We are still a new server, but with growing popularity. The server is US based but players that are currently on are from all different time-zones, so you'll rarely see an empty server. Server is mostly daytime only, but we do "switch it up a little bit" every 2-3 days to add a few restarts of dusk-dawn-night. Us admins are also from different time-zones and at least one of us is on at any given time (if not in server, then in TeamSpeak). As you can see it has plenty of addons, there's a couple more of them, but you can check that out for yourself We definitely do have more hero players than bandits(better prices at hero traders ), but it balances out nicely. the fact that there's more killing (effectively deathmatching) is due to the players not caring at all about their in-game character. if they had lived for a few days on that character they would want to keep it alive, whereas on these servers with a bajillion vehicles they don't need to worry or stress over the fact that they might lose their items, as they can just regain them within 3 minutes of respawning. generally the audience that has been attracted by these 'let's play's etc wants to play a consistently exciting game, not run around for 20 minutes only to get shot. that's why those servers were far more popular than normal ones.

Given the work it can take for a solo or a small group in Epoch to set up a base and defend it, I wouldn't say that those mods are "easier." Or take Namalsk, where the map is cold enough that you have to work to keep yourself warm, and thus alive. Or the EMP storms that kill you of you aren't indoors. Or even consider the base mod compared to base Arma 2. The mod is by far much more popular, and in Arma 2 there are weapons and tanks just everywhere! There's a lot more at play than difficulty, and even considering this, while there are more vehicles and more weapons in a lot of the mods, it's balanced out with the more frequent combat going on, and people tend to enjoy that.

Rocket needs to go and the sooner better, he is in fact THE fundamental flaw in DAYZ. I knew it the moment i saw Motorbike helmets. I mean wtf why be working on shit like that and not giving us the vehicles to use them with!!!!!! No lets make 500 different types of clothing instead and let the game quietly die. DAYZ ALPHA = Boring as batshit.

i agree, but my point was that generally people tend to like to be babysat in games, i'm sure there's lots of people who wish that there weren't hunger mechanics or zombies in dayZ. look at the mod. it started off as a difficult survival game, then it ended up as this absolute mess with thousands of vehicles which players could find within 2 minutes and there were even extra barracks all over the coast. these servers were by a mile the most played servers in the mod. that was my point, i was just using dark souls and skyrim as examples because they're generally similar games.

Almost all of this has been suggested numerous times already Campers/RVs work fine in most off road situations, I don't see why they would suddenly become useless. Arma 2's significant slowing down of vehicles on grass makes no sense at all. As for zombie bites, I don't think the zombies even have any incentive to bite things. They seem to use brute force like hitting and punching to get the job done also, When You Type Like This It's A Little Hard To Read ;) -

Vehicular Transportation Siphoning Fuel: This Action Could Be Performed On Vehicles, With The Right Tools One Could Siphon Fuel From Otherwise Useless Vehicles. Camper/RV: A Large And Cumbersome Vehicle. Useless For Going Off-road. Size Makes It Vulnerable. But It Makes Up For These Flaws In Storage Space. One Could Use An RV As A Mobile Base. Pickup Truck: These Light Vehicles Offer Room For Both People And Supplies. One of These, Packed With Supplies, Could Probably Leave Enough Space For Someone To Sit On The Back And Shoot. Prison Bus: Designed To Carry Prisoners To And From Prisons. Most Come Equipped To Deal With Attacks From The Outside Or Inside. The Huge Flaw With These Vehicles Is Their Noise And Size. Security Van: Used By Private Security Companies And Police Alike. They Are Strong Enough To Withstand Both Bullets And Flesh Eating Cannibal Zombies. Their Huge Flaw, Is, Like The Prison Bus, their Noise And Size. They are All But Useless For Rough Terrain. Police Riot Van: Equipped With Wind-Shield Protectors, These Are Simply Your Average Van But Painted And Protected. They Were Designed For Riots, Not Large Gun Battles. They Are More For Protection Against The Infected Rather Than Armed Bands of Militia. BRDM-2: Used By The Chernarussian Military. These Are Armoured Vehicles Designed For Carrying And Supporting Infantry In The Field. Most Have Run Out of Ammo, And Should Be Used As Protective Vehicles For Groups Rather Than Assault Vehicles. Although, One Could Use It To Ram Gates Or Barricades. Ammo Should Be Extremely Rare, These Vehicles Should Be Extremely Difficult To Maintain. GAZ Vodnik: A Russian Multi-Purpose Military Vehicle. Has Amphibious Capabilities. Possibly Adopted By The Chernarussian Military. Similar To The BRDM-2, But Lighter And Better For Off-Road Terrain. Comes With A Light Machine Gun. (Ammo: Extremely Rare) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle: Both A Civil And Military Model Should Be Incorporated. Civil Models Provide Basic Reconnaissance Footage. While Extremely Rare Military Models Have All The Jazz. Thermal Imaging, Etc. I disagree with this one, feels like its posted by someone who didn't really play the mod. If you have a look at that you would see how much of a hollow shel SA is at the moment. To a degree aswell its not adding features.....its re-adding them. The game they working with has support for vehicles and animals, those things are mearly being re-worked....then placed back in. Devs carry on with features! If you release this as is(even stable)...I wouldn't recommend it to anyone lol :) -

Mr. Sinister. I'm an old arma player but I've never played the dayZ mod. From what I've seen, I didn't like it. Seeing an apache helicopter with missiles hovering in the air killed it all. It was more like an FFA Arma game more than a zombie apocalypse. DayZ standalone is _much_ better in that point. I like the idea of the vehicles to be added in dayz standalone will be like an item, which you build for yourself and explore to find gas, and or if the enginge breaks down, you have to find tools to fix it. I hope they never implement helicopters.

Very true but there also the players that tend to head to the easy mod versions the 1000 vehicles extra gun versions so when modding comes out there will be the masses playing bang bang and then there will be people playing dayz with some bang bang lol..

Yeah sure, in RL you cannot repair a broken bike with parts from another bike. But this is even worse for complex vehicles. Try fitting an ATV engine into a Mi17 or URAL tires onto a enduro motorcycle :D

Hi all, with the implementation of heart attacks, very interesting to increase the depth of the simulation, I think it's necessary, simultaneously, to integrate base vehicles (for example bicycles or horses) to perform movements over long distances. Currently the possibility of making "freelife-running" avoid the problem that would be created with the implementation of heart attacks in the long distances, movements may become extremely challenging in terms of time and the overall games actions could result a kind of boring. Also I would like to suggest the implementation of some equip very realistic and beautiful, right thigh holster, left thigh storage bag, tactical belt, Camelbag and belts to carry weapons on pg's shoulders. (currently the weapons seem to keep up with the mind powers LOL). BR
