    The new NE-Airfield

    Yep, I quite like it. Maybe switch out the Military vehicles and add in some private / light aircraft crashes and turn it into a proper civillian / cargo airfield to complete the job. It needs to be a place worth fighting over but not strictly for the top grade loot.

    Devs Have Been Spoiling Us Lately

    They have but not because of the frequency of updates but because of their significance. They are refining the tiny details in the game and that imo is the biggest improvements that really make the game gel. Things like improved animations, weapon weight and dexterity , sitting aiming animations, sorting through bad ammo, unique and meaningful civilian weapon additions like the upcoming Cz527 carbine and the longhorn, and finally just now ragdolls. Those tiny details all improve the game so much more than pointless stuff like vehicles.
  4. It's pretty simple. Only thing that moves between server is your character with all the gear he carries. So yea, your tents and vehicles stays on the server where you originally got them.

To answer your first paragraph: It does not promote server-hopping as you imagine - e.g. changing servers within the barracks or "jail" building until you find one server where the building has good loot / is not yet looted. It will promote simply constant changing servers as a means to play, which is in contradiction with any "storytelling"™ or "lore building"™. It hinders immersion, RP possibilities, or in-game community development. Imagine a group building a base and obtaining e.g. 3 vehicles in said base. Now some other group miraculously appears from another dimension (other server) on the outskirts of the base saying "Huuurrrr... We came to steal your tires and heard about your base on the forum" (horrible metagaming). Now if the server was a true persistent world none of that would have happened. To answer other paragraphs: Yes, people take Dean to literally but you're the one that's not too bright. You give the developers too much credit. If you had ever witnessed commercial software development first hand you would know that there are always gazillions of issues that designers, project leads and front-line developers are unaware of until after the release. Hence the very "early access" concept was born. What people are posting here as their opinions is actually very valuable feedback and your "Hurr... Durr... Stfu, devs know better." is actually more counter-productive than "This idea is shit!" of an average Joe's.

    DAYZ SA Suggestions

    I have a few suggestions for future implementation which i think would cater to end game. 1). With the base building coming soon, i think items such as a storage box/rooms/containers should be made craftable, and the loot stored inside these not to be wiped on server reset (if that's even possible). These containers cannot be moved as they are to heavy, but can be looted by anyone be it bandits or own base members. Imagine bases who store valuable items, be it food, guns, Armour etc in these containers with trusty members, be able to raid them or sneaky members steal the goods, endless possibilities. What i see happening may be strong guilds/bases sending out loot parties to search for good loot for these containers, maxing out good items in these storage containers, the benefits of such a system could be huge. Imagine other bandits who would want to raid these bases, banding together, forming raiding parties, (kind of like raids in other mmos) to take down these bases, kind of like eve battles which could have huge rewards. The base members would need around the clock protection, raidos to communicate with other base members outside looting to come back to help, the scenarios are endless and exiting and would open up a lot of possibilities. Bases could even open a kind of a trading base, where if you want to trade for items they have, you need to walk up to the base with your hands up, they will take any weapons off you, you go in and search there containers for items you want or trade, loads of scenarios could be possible. They may even sell items online, as is what usually happens, which could even happen now theoretically, which would make raiding these bases even more great as items would most likely be of great value. Endless possibilities for your base and scenarios could happen. 2) More areas to explore like a London underground sort of system linking some major cities together, parts of the underground would obviously have no light, so torches/lanterns/fire sticks are a must, and would be quite scary to venture into these areas, zombies in small corridors with just a torch would be quite chilling, as well as the possibility to get lost down there would be exiting. 3) Maybe introduce deeper lakes and seas, with full diving gear and dart gun for fishing underwater, maybe have some loot spawns under water etc or caves to venture into. 4) I know the story says that the survivors are immune or something to the virus but this idea i had, if you got scratched or bit by a zombie without no vaccine within a certain time limit, be it 10-30 minutes whatever you would turn into a zombie yourself, so all your action bars are back to default. Now in zombie mode you would need food only to survive, so you have to hunt survivors, you get a slight speed increase and more speed in the evening, but can only use hand to to attack. What i think this will bring to the table is more fear of zombies as it will take at least 24 hours without food (animals, wild life and other players) to die in zombie form, you will be stuck in zombie form and cant respawn until you die, so your actions as a human would be much more weary over zombies, you will also be more loot caution for vaccines, which could play to my first suggestion, valuable items. Imagine being bit you have lets say 10-30 minutes to find the cure, running to the nearest base you know nearby and trying to offer whatever you have for vaccine. You may even have players banding together in zombie form to take down bases. In zombie form you cant attack or eat other zombies real or AI so in a way it also promotes working together, or just waiting to die. The death time timit has to kind of be big enough as to make players in human form more vigil when meeting zombies. 5) Vehicles, as planned but would add more variety to my number 1 suggestion, storing vehicles looking for fuel, bases would be more rewarding to loot and organized planed raids against them would be more valuable, it all plays hand in hand with teaming up with other players in end game instead of just plain old kill on sight mentality as it is now. Have a few other ideas but these would be a great start i think? Any opinions?

    Epoch server?

    Me personally, I would have an ultra hardcode server with next to no loot, vehicles as per Vanilla DayZ mod circa 2012, the problem would be that I would also have zero players. The unfortunate thing is mods like DayZ Breaking Point and Overwatch have turned a zombie survival game into COD and unless you offer similar gameplay then your server will bomb. I would love nothing more to be able to jump back in time to May 2012 when you used to have to wait a week for a Huey to spawn on Skalisty Is then spend hours and hours grabbing parts to fix it, the thrill of seeing your first Skoda, party buses. My servers have always been PvP orientated and very harsh, gearing up is relatively easy, but that's what players want. Sorry you didn't have a good time on our servers
  9. If you love mods in other games you will absolutely love mods in Standalone and in dayz mod. The possibilities are nearly endless and server owners have amazing control on how their particular server works or functions. If you want a hyper realistic low loot server with harsh survival mechanics you can do that with certain mods and scripts, if you want a server without zombies and 1000 vehicles and plenty of guns you can do that too. Modding in PC gaming is imo the biggest positive about the platform, it lets the community explore game ideas that devs can possibly not afford to. Take ACE mod for instance it takes what is already in what some consider a niche game Arma 2 and turns the realism up to level 11 and as a result some amazing gameplay mechanics have originated from it. Heck without mods dayz standalone would have never existed.

    That's laughable. The first time I played Dayz was on MGT and although I was a noob, a week later I had more stuff I would ever use. Just look at the description of the server: "extra vehicles, extra loot, extra airfield, extra barracks". The only thing missing is "extra everything"! Oh, and no night time or weather effects, cause that's a pain in the ass for pvp. People that play those kind of servers only care about pvp and although that's also a part of the game, DayZ is (or it should be), a lot more than that. So, no, your servers are far from balanced. They only serve for kids that want to play some CoD Dayz.
  11. I guess I still am not understanding. If a player goes to a modded server with only high end loot and then returns to a regular server they basically tweaked their guy in away others on the regular server can't without doing the same thing. So you could end up with a bunch of high end loot being passed around as people get looted then changing the type of play they are aiming for. If I am getting this right then I'm all for a restriction on loot. If a rare item isn't rare anymore then just let everyone pick the loot they want before starting and then why search for anything just go pvping CoD style. Next we will want character types like tank,healer,ranger... Might as well go play wow. I think they are making the game To be interesting and keep it different. Does everyone really want everything handed to you? Now as far as items you can't take with you to another server like cars and helos if a server wants to have tons of cars and lots of helos I wouldn't be against that. It can change play styles per server but does not effect others when you go to a regular server other than maybe give you a personal advantage by knowing how to fly better from practice. I hope to see a lot of vehicles to use but it sounds like the regular server hive you will have to find a crap load of parts just to get a car running....eh... Only to loose it to someone as soon as you get close. JMO

    [Day Z: Standalone] Controller Default Layout

    I'm not trolling here I use a xbox pc controller a lot for any vehicles in lots of games but how in the hell do you guys aim with a controller. I just can't seem to be worth a damn. I'll have it sitting on desk and as soon as I jump into a car or helo I'll grab it and go from there. I find there is nothing better for that than the ol xbox controller. I hope they get cars and Helos in this game to be fun... Not sure having to scrounge parts to get one working only to loose it in a flash would be fun and cars should be all over the place so.... Sorry got a little off topic there. 8)
  13. I'd say the last thing we need is a hundred servers with thousands of vehicles spawning full geared people on the beach self blood bagging the whole way along. It will be a shame when this becomes reality, it will also be a shame when a handful of servers have the only control over the helicopters and nvgs... Makes it extremely unfair to any casual type players... Meh I guess we'll see what happens.. Dayz sa epoch is gonna be just as silly as I thought the mod was that's for sure...

    Even for those of you arguing that the map is "massive" (and it really doesn't feel like it) why couldn't it get a bit bigger? The map in the original post is a good illustration, there;s plenty of room to be added, and would allow for more diverse environments, rather than trying to cram more villages into one corner of the map. It's starting to feel claustrophobic. Just wait until vehicles are added, the map will feel much smaller then. I'd even venture to say that the current map is too small for helicopters.

    About this point you are right and there's no other choices and names. But imagine when vehicles will be up: if now will you take 15 mins to run from Berezino to Elektro, now it will be like 5 mins. And it's not over...even small towns extreme west chernarus will be populated. This means, any corner of the map will have higher chances to have someone nearby, This doesn't means "Bad", but it is just to say how much little is the map and how much easy it is to encouter someone
  16. Hey guys So im setting up an overpoch server and i need a little help. I hope i posted this in the right forum and category. So I purchased an overpoch server off of survival servers and they automatically edited the traders and the loot tables to spawn overwatch guns and that worked fine but the traders where bugged.... Overwatch guns only spawned at klen and there was no name or picture for the guns only the classname.. also it was bugged that you couldn't even buy the weapons...so i wiped the Traders-Data databse and replaced it with the one from my old epoch server then used the overpoch server pack : http://www.xstreamga...f-sauerland.75/ and took out the sql file and ran that in my database... it all worked fine but the guns that spawn at hero also spawn at stary/klen/bash .... also the prices arnt that good aswell ... so i know i could go through the items one by one and change the price ect but i was wondering if someone could send my their sql with all the overpoch guns and vehicles at the right places? I did contact survival servers about their premade traders being bugged and they wernt that helpfull aslo im thinking off getting a dedicated server and running this. Thank you very much.

    What the future Holds

    No worries, they'll have those mechanics in game eventually, remember, this is Alpha. Not everything works, we have yet to see weather affecting health, bases, vehicles, Water from a pond poisoning you, and rest. They might introduce weight as a factor to how far / fast you can run. The more you carry, the slower you are. But there will be a whole bunch of other probs to be solved before that, so be patient :-) Could anyone link to the roadmap for our Poet here, please? That should give you an idea of how long it'll take to get what feature done and what else is in planning.
  18. The LRS is not rare at all I can find 3-4 in a single NWAF run....Having ultra rare items limited to only a few hundred in a game purchased by millions is dumb... It will be like wow with legendaries...people will be more concerned with obtaining the item than having fun... And trust me there will be plenty of people like me who obtain these items and hide our way far north and avoid most social contact. It wont be clans who hold these items long...they will die doing fighting with other clans...then the item will lilly get ruined or dmged (anything not pristine is trash at my current level) and thrown out. Once some less aggressive player finds it they will never give it up. There are 3 types of geared players in dayz 1. Aggressive (bandits/clans/KOS/heroes) who seek out people to kill and eventually die off themselves. Many seek death just for the sake of starting fresh 2. Friendly/social....they want to PVE...eventually killed by group 1 3. Passive/cautious. This is where I fall in. Stay in remote areas, scout carefully, only play with people I know IRL and only kill those I have. Rather go unseen than risk interaction. Will loot high risk areas when certain conditions are met that guarantee safety. When things get boring between patches I quit playing til the next patch as opposed to searching for death. For people like me the thrill is in living as long as possible. I keep track of the hours I have played and prefer to practice stalking others unseen (usually at night). In the case of loot rarity once the rare item falls into group 3 it is more likely they quit playing before they are killed and therefore the item is gone forever. Now factor in they want to add underground bases that will persit through death so players can stock pile gear there and all these ultra rare items will be tucked away safely. On another note why would things like NVG be so limited ? I can see why they would only spawn at millitary bases or maybe SWAT team type police areas...but come on nothing rare...I guarantee you a millitary force stationed in the woods would have plenty on hand... If your going to make rare items make them somthing very badass and also something kinda odd at the same time...like say a golden plated gun or something just style like. As for vehicles I could care less about them and feel they will only ruin the game.

    The option to drink disinfectant is just an authentic option. Can you drink disinfectant? Just because there are some things related to PvP doesn't mean it's a PvP game. They're adding vehicles soon, will that make it a racing game? It doesn't have a focus on PvP that's just a guideline because people act as bandits are you stupid or something? How about looking at practically every info site, Wikipedia for instance. It's an MMO survival horror that's the official genre. Oh look, it even says "survival" Sometimes you need to survive other players. But picture this, nobody fights each other ever which is entirely possible as nothing forces PvP. Is it still a PvP game? Your logic is full of holes.

    I don´t know about a full city/town/village run but it´s easy to spent tons of hours to explore the map. It´s not that small it´s just a bit empty. Once we have more animals, players(100p server) and working ZEDs the map won´t feel so small any more. Vehicles are pretty much deathtraps imho but everyone their own toy. :D I for myself trying to explore the complete map, putting up landmarks again and explore escape routes, ambushes and all sort of shit. For now it feels like you go to a region and come back several years later because they are adding so many roads, buildings and polishing everything.
  22. Ive read Rockets comments several times about the central hive, and as I understood it sounded like such a terrible idea.. Until I realized something. MODS. What he is talking about, and I think all of us are misinterpreting is that the dayz mods before had a serious issue with certain servers offering 5,000 vehicles, and 500 helicopters.. and the like. This seriously affects the game as a whole. So when they speak of central hive, I think more or less that is what they are discussing.. not allowing there to be anymore than say 100 NVG's across the entire DayZ world of servers. This would mean that if there are 1,000 servers, only 100 of them at most would have the NVG floating around in them at once. This helps keep certain modders from making things too off balance and out of control unless they find a way to get off that central hive system.. "ahem, arma3+dayzSA mod"... cough, cough. This would not be the nightmare scenario of server hopping, as they would not be connected to your same player.. see the point now? What he means is you will hear that the [Z.NU] Europe West server of the SA mod called DayZero has at least 2 working helo's on its server currently via forum posts or whatever.. people will post proof via video and images, etc. to let others know, "I we have this.. come and get some." Or whatever it may be. But you will see that and tell your friends and want to maybe hop on that server, Ill be it as a fresh spawn if you've never played there, so that you can take a crack at stealing their heli or shooting it down. I dont think he intends to have each and every server connected, and that is just not possible with mods. But Im sure they fear the game being modded into something out of control, and if they have a central hive controlling the loot based on server count numbers then well.. that just makes really good sense. #JustSayNoToServerHopping :) This has been a public service announcement.     Will Chernarus expand? I know that there is still a lot of work to be done on the map, and that there will be a lot more towns and such later on (or at least I imagine so) But some people complain that the map is too big...^ Honestly, I think it's pretty small!!! And with vehicles around it would be almost a joke to get to from one place to another. So my question is this; Will the map get bigger?? I heard someone mention it, but I don't know if that's just a myth or legit. Maybe in the North or West- a few Kilometer more? :emptycan:
  25. I thought about this some more last night and I think they will have to consider actually patching both systems into the game. Because they do plan to have private hives, and servers with passwords. they are going to need a system for those (which i seem to prefer, even though I haven't tried the new concept) and a system for the connected hive. I think this would potentially work with weapons and rare vehicle repair items (for chopper not for car parts) As for full vehicles spawns, i hope they aren't limited this way. In my view each server should have an average number of vehicles to start with and not like only 100 jeeps across the whole hive!.,something like 20 bicycles/motorbikes, 10 cars/ trucks, 2 or 3 urals, and 1 or 2 helicopters . Per every server. I would think one little bird and one big heli would be fine for this map to begin with...Similar to the way breaking point do it. They have a good vehicle spawning system which keeps the same amount per server.
