Since the boats are a bitten the forgotten vehicles i guess -i would like to suggest that boats could have some storage slots, for example the small boats like half of the car slots and the PBX like 2-3 weapon slots and some addditional for ammo ans food. -also you lose way to fast temperature in it,i know at sea its a bit cold sometimes, but i would suggest to let your temperature stays the same, you aint wet anyway when in a boat. -and perhaps to add 1 faster boat, faster then the small boats and slower then the PBX. sorry if there whas a thread about this already.

Generators - Used to charge anything battery related such as, flashlights, defibrillator, night vision, etc. Must be fueled up like vehicles, by using Jerry Cans. Defibrillator - Can be found in hospitals and military complex's only. The item should have no more than 5 charges to it and then the battery dies. When using the Defibrillator on a dead team mate, it should have a chance of reviving not 100%, this way it promotes more "group play". Lock Picks - Since vehicles are becoming more common and people dislike having them stolen instantly, players should be able to lock their vehicles. Finding Lock Picks of some sort, allows you to pick the locks of vehicles to break in, rather than just getting in and starting it up with out a key or even trying to "hot wire" the vehicle. Trailers - Allowing players to attach their vehicle to a mobile home, trailer or any other attachment to the vehicle, would make for interesting game play. Mobile homes would allow you to cook inside of it, stash clothes, guns and attach a generator to it to use it for electricity. Capturing a Player - When a player is down and unconscious, you should be able to find an item, such as a large bag or a set of ropes to capture him only if he is a bandit. This allows for the players who dislike bandits so much, to get involved in the pvp and rewarded by capturing them and doing whatever they want with them for 15 minutes of game play. Once the 15 minutes is up, the player can choose whether to respawn as a new player or stay as a prisoner. Putting a mask over the players head would distort his vision on the screen, so he can't tell people over VoIP where his location is.. but he gets a funky visual to make it some what pleasant on his eyes, rather than just a black screen for 15 minutes. Marjuana - Planting Herbs on your server and growing them, allowing you to smoke up and get a buzz in-game. This allows you to run faster but see blurry in the distance. Hope you like my list - I have more ideas and could go on all night, but I thought these would make for an interesting game play :) Especially if they make Day Z a stand alone game using Arma 3 Engine.

They are.... I would be a bandit who would sit with this L85A2 of mine at Elektro all day, If it wasn"t for the fear that one day there might be a return of the bandit skin. Well my goal isn"t to survive in DAY-Z it is to have fun without kicking down peoples sandcastles, and make suggestions/bug reports that improve the game. There is 0% benefit to being in a large group. Except that you can blood transfuse eachother and repair vehicles faster. Of course.... now 25% of clans in DAY-Z are bandit clans.... There is no punishment for being a bandit but many rewards.... They live longer and there are 3x more of them then when the bandit skin was still in place. It is easy to kill 10 survivors with a just a CZ550 or killing one Lone Survivor with extremely good gear. Encouraging teamplay will just make bandits group together with other bandits in the bandit campfire. Discouraging banditry is the awnser to this paranoidic fear-filled deathmatch.... To bandits it is basically a game were you loot a little bit of supplies. Camp in a hot-zone and kill people, then survive, then go to a town and camp more for dey "Lulz" It is there playstyle.. I say let them play it... but with less incentives and more negatives to doing it -
The idea is simple : We already have train tracks.... why not add a train? The train would constantly go around the map in a circle, every town it hits it will stop for 10 minutes(or less). During this time, if you are lucky enough to be near the train when it stops, you can ride it until the next stop or until you see fit. It would make travel easier, but it's only IF you happen to be near the train when it stops. To prevent people from waiting for the train at specific times, give the train 2-3 schedules that slightly shift so it won't ALWAYS be at a certain town at 10pm. I realize this could be a lot to code in.....but I think it would be cool to see a train actually go around the map....and I don't see how anyone could abuse it. I see a lot of potential to have fun with this, perhaps a group's car breaks down and a train just so happens to come by? Or maybe an entire group could just camp out in the train killing any survivors that come in? It would be AWESOME to see a train mow down zombies! EDIT: I realize this doesn't really make sense....who would be driving the train? But I guess for the backstory : They developed a train(The "Auto-Train") that runs on a schedule and keeps going without anyone using it. If you wanted you could even make it so the train actually runs out of gas (but only in towns) and players must re-fuel it to keep it going (But I think that would defeat the purpose of making it always accessible to players who don't have vehicles, I would sacrifice the realism for that personally )

That's a pretty cool way of telling people how to re-enable sidechat on their servers :) I feel now that I was overreacting about the broken bones. Though I Still wouldn't mind it being nerfed a little. Of course I've only got more noob questions the longer I play' date=' such as: Do tents, vehicles, and fencing stay on the server where you make them or do they travel with you to every server you visit? And what about if you die with a tent setup? What ammo does a silenced mp5 use? (Because it's not mp5 ammo) What clothes can a female survivor wear? Is there difference between servers that have the tag: [EXPERT'] or [VETERAN] in their name? How do you switch to third person mode? I can't find any such binds out of the hundred bindings in the key config menu. Is there a quick ingame screenshot function? How do you write notes on maps? I've seen some server maps are just full of (X) notes. Some begging for help, offering help, marking bases, random gibberish, marking a friendly survivor hangout (or huge bandit trap). Most of them were in the middle of cities or clustered on mountain tops. I had more questions but forgot most of them while getting my ass beat by zombies after I had lost my crossbow. It was still a major pain but I managed to crawl 2 damn miles to the nearest hospital to get some morphine while avoiding some guy asking, noone in particular, in direct chat, how to get his flashlight working while apparently surviving alone in a zombie infested inland city, during blackout night-time. Immediately afterwards I found an alice pack, double my steel bolt ammo supply, and matches completing my hunting tools, so I was soon carrying around almost a dozen pieces of meat. I got overconfident and decided to go raid the NWAirField. Fucking scary place. Just when I think I'm alone on a low populated server there's either gunfire in the direction I came from getting gradually closer to me or like on one server I hear explosions and see someone lit the barracks on fire (turned out to be a flare). Then lots gunshots and like any paranoid fraidy-cat I'm immediately hiding in the shadows somewhere for several minutes. Never got to really do a clean raid of the barracks as everytime on everyserver there were either dead zed or chemlights inside. I guess I should consider myself lucky for not being spotted; Or stupid for still going inside. Ended up dropping half my meat and bolts to carry around a MP5SD that can't fire mp5 ammo. Lost my beloved crossbow and all my steelbolts to a packing accident (I just don't know where they went, they weren't in my pack or on the ground). I've always imagined my survivor putting lip prints on the side of it and sleeping with it at night; now it's gone and I'm very sad. This is the longest I've been alive. It says day four everytime I connect now and I've racked up over 130 zombie kills. That's enough to be in the top 10 on a some server player lists (I just hope hacker bandits arn't using that list as their hitlist). I know I must seem like a squirrel bragging about it's nut-size to a horse but I'm having a lot of fun surviving now. Also, I'm being stalked by a misquito that follows me from server to server. :(

So there are vehicles that spawn new? or are there only the ones you have to repair?
-
Does anyone know how this works exactly? Are new vehicles (ones that have yet to be found by a player) spawned from the time the server is started just waiting to be found or are they only spawned when a player enters their area? The reason I ask is because whenever I have gone searching for vehicles I have only ever found them when I was on foot, never when in another vehicle, making me think that (like zombies and loot) they only spawn when you enter a new area on foot.

It's actually just the way Arma 2 is, for example i usually destroy enemy vehicles by driving into them when my vehicle has no weapons, they just fly lol

100 things I learned from DAYZ
Atamawood replied to execpro22's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
44. It doesn't rain on top of Russian castles. 45. Zombies don't like bridges 46. ATVs also don't like bridges therefor, they are not all terrain vehicles. -
It's really hard to maintain/find vehicles playing solo. Best bet is to find a crew and start collecting.

My buddy and I were playing. We had 2 vehicles in seattle 97. After it goes night time everyone leaves. 4 people are left in the server, my buddy, me, Marshkillz, and his friend rAndom. We drive the vehicles south west to park them and on the way we run into Marshkillz(admin) and his friend in their own vehicle. We kill them and their vehicle is destroyed in the process. 30 seconds after this happens the server is reset and there is a bit of a roll back. Their car isnt destroyed and "rAndom" is still alive by the car. We kill "rAndom." 10 seconds later the server is reset AGAIN. This time its taken down for about an hour or so. I can only assume they were resetting the server in an attempt to get a rollback and save their gear. When the server comes back up, it goes from a 40 person server to a 3 person server with "Marshkillz" "rAndom" and some other dude. I guess they'd rather play with zero risk where they can roll back any time they need to lol.... Just wanted to post this to let people know not to waste their time in this clown ass server. [attachment=1304] <--- Vehicle destroyed. Marshkillz killed. 40 player max at this time. [attachment=1303] <--- approx 1 hour later 3 person max. .

No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix
-Cdn-Chard replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The vehicle system works great except for chopper radar and hiding outside of the map area. Chopper radar has to be removed or made a repairable part with a miniscule spawning chance Vehicles and tents should not be able to be saved off of the map. Attempting to do so would generate an error message similar to placing tents or collecting firewood. If the vehicle is abandoned off of the map need to be set back to original state of disrepair and return it to it's spawn location (see below) Vehicle spawn locations need to be more random. A group that just had an Ural destroyed would know that they just need to go back to it's original location and reclaim it. Random spots around random towns would be great. Scavaging parts off of other vehicles, like harvesting wood, could be an option. Need an engine, grab your toolbox and strip out another vehicle. Finally, not going back and saving your vehicle should be done every 72 hours. That gives people with interests other than playing Dayz the opportunity to go on a weekend trip yet still comeback to find their vehicles intact. -
would like to add: removing the ability for vehicles to "drive off the map," as that seems to be the current prime hiding spot for these... or at least, if they drive 'of the map," they won't be saved, and will respawn at their origin upon exiting them.

No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, just no. Vehicles aren't supposed to be a dime a dozen, if we added crafting a bicycle EVERYONE would make one. If we made the save longer, it would be harder to find vehicles. It's hilarious how you think making a bicycle is a "simple" easy task that could be done by someone surviving a zombie apocalypse. Perhaps it could.... if you had spare bicycle parts laying around, not fucking scraps of metal. How are you supposed to weld that shit together? Where do you get the chain, bearings, sprockets and other stuff? Your suggestion is stupid and your approach very whiny. "i'm gonna keep replying until there are more vehicles..." LOL ok. -

What really needs to happen is the map needs to be locked down so people can't keep going off map to hide tents and vehicles and shit. -
No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
the only place vehicles are found should not consist of the edges of the map that's fucking stupid. I'm in the middle of fraps-ing myself running from the spawn to a noted vehicle spawn on the map and then from the spawn to the nearest city. its fucking redic the time it takes to travel without wheels. They need to reduce save time, they need to kill everyone off the grid and de-spawn all vehicles off the grid. For sure they need to at least make bicycles spawn in many more places or be able to craft them. -
I have no idea when I was supposed to be anywhere. As for evidence this is all I have, yet I have seen nothing from your side. Let's sum things up. I can prove I was there 20 minutes before the first nuke. Moments before that very first nuke we had about 4 vehicles rounded up somewhere way south of your camp. I was switching up gear between them only to die out of nowhere. Session lost follows about half a minute later or so. Getting my hopes up it was some sort of server glitch I rejoined only to find myself spawning with nothing but the basic gear. Kinda pissed off I respawned several times in order to spawn somewhere near solnichy/berezino so I could race back to the vehicles. So did my friend. We traveled all the way back to the last known position, we geared up again out of our vehicles only to die another time 10 minutes later. That's when I called it a day and logged off. I lost several guns, ammo, equipment and due to the ridiculous ban all that was in the vehicles. The ban reason is using god mode all the while I'm not banned by battleye despite the recent banhammer wipeout. I looked up some stuff about spoofing ID's and a 5 minute google search proved it was ridiculously easy to do. Seeing jubag's comment I think that's what happened here as it might have happened to him as well. Why on earth would I even bother coming here if I could just hop on another server and go about with the godmode thing. It's understandable for admins to ban if they see logs with my name on it, but if the ID can't be linked to my CD_key (the check that battleye performs) I'm not the one cheating. I think that was about it. :dodgy:

just wondering if anyone has any information on helicopters for instance... are they in every server right now, or only a select few? are they currently able to be fully repaired? do they respawn like vehicles at set spawn points, or it is more randomized? and of course, which im sure no one will answer, where the hell are the spawns?! recently found the best land vehicle(military offroad), so now the helicopter is my last mission. any information is helpful

No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix
izmak replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The only things that need fixing with regards to vehicles is: a) Offmap saving. b) Helicopter radar removing. As somebody who has abused both of the above (and I'll continue to do so until they get changed), they are two factors that - in it's current state, the mod can do without. Edit: I wouldn't be altogether against having the radar changed to only other helicopters that are currently *airbourne* This is also very very wrong. I'm not sure about you, but on the server I normally play on (SE6) - people frequently go around the edges of the map looking for shit. I went around the edge of the map on US 39 a couple of weeks ago, over a period of 2-3 nights. I checked every clearing large enough to place a tent. I found something in the region of 60 tents, 15 or so vehicles. Stole or destroyed all of them. The only thing I didn't find was helicopters, because their speed/altitude makes getting them on/off the map trivial. If people are restricted to parking vehicles on the map if they wish to save them, then they will not go for weeks without being found. -
Police Station: functionality= Small arms and ammo, bullet proof vests, radio/receiver equipment, Geiger counter( if radiation or something is ever in dayZ ) Radio Towers: Functionality= ability to transmit broadcasts to anyone with radio/receiver equipment spawns radio/receiver equipment, industrial parts. ( the broadcast would hopefully be in text format with a max number of broadcasts per x amount of time.) A new hospital would be nice, since these ones are bugged , zombies cannot get inside and are just crap really. Workshop/ChopShop/MachineShop: Functionality= place to work on vehicles/build vehicles/bicycles ( provided you have all the metal, vehicle parts etc, pvp hotspot) Farm with crops that can be eaten if cleaned. More opened houses, most buildings in cities are closed ( not boarded up or anything just non usable because of its model.) ( might be an opportunity to make sleep animation and sleep function with a need for sleep.)

Besides first getting rid of people nuking and killing entire server populations... make it so if you are moving in the debug forest you get teleported out. ( or make everyone in debug forest non kill-able ) I will label these with numbers so people can discuss them easier. 1) Lets get rid of night vision goggles and thermal scopes - why: they are not good for this game, it's better we use flares/Chem-lights/Flashlights. 2) Fix the Day and night Cycle: what to fix? - First of all, The day and night cycle is not fully synced to all clients, and may of times it is day to one person but pitch dark to another. 3) Another thing is the duration of the current cycle, it needs to be sped up, we need maybe 5-8 hours of light and 2-3 of dark. something to give us balanced playtime of the cycle and not the current too long of a cycle. 4) Change the de-spawn timer on saved vehicles to 24-48 hours. Add in more vehicles, add in more bicycles, perhaps add in the ability to craft a bicycle. ( Make use of the scrap metal, and toolbox see my other thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=19541 ) 5) Tweak Zombies to break legs less often, Make different tiers of zombies do more damage and have different habits.(by the way loving the new zombie field of vision.) 6) Add in NPCs that use guns ( this could range from npc survivors, raiders, bandits, even military officers securing a FEMA style camp or the airports themselves. ( arma offers the editor which makes it very easy to setup scenes for all of these and can be tweaked to balance.) 7) Make Loot Spawns that consist of nothing but whiskey bottles and empty cans to re-spawn on the normal loot spawn cycle. 8) Remove Helicopter radar ( Tested it out for myself, wow this makes vehicles way to easy to find and ruins this game! Remove the Radar, or remove helicopters for now until radar is removed! ) 9) Add More random events, ( similar to helo crashes, can be anything ranging from shipwrecks, a helicopter flying thru the air and you see it o down and crash and spawn a helicopter crash site its definitely possible in the editor and scripting it as a chance to go off is possible. etc bandit npcs attacking you etc. ) 10) If possible make it so you cannot rapid fire pistols and snipers etc they can shoot really fast and stay decently accurate, too accurate for rapid fire. 11) Add an option on ATV/ motorbike to Flip them over. 12) FIX THIS! There is a bug with the M19 side arm and the Revolver Side Arm that when combining ammo it will refill the entire clip once it combines it to the different ammo type, making it an infinite ammo side arm provided you reload with 1 bullet left in your clip then combine the ammo twice. 13) Add more Drop when shooting sniper rifles. and possibly make them louder/agro more zombies. 14) Add more incentives/benefits to not kill people , as it is if you see someone your best option is to kill them as it increases your survival time. I have more but I'm gonna add them later I'm tired. will edit and reply as we go. ~MrFixit

Summary: Players must repair a vehicle and drive it off the map to "win". You must cross the map with a full fuel tank and at least 90% repaired. You must cross the map on a road A vehicle may rescue as many survivors at a time as there are seats. If you and 4 of your buddies fix a car and drive it off the map, all four of you "win". Only motorized vehicles are allowed. No bicycles. A reward is given for successfully escaping Chernarus. This reward rolls over to the next survivor. Pros: -Promotes teamwork by giving players a common goal to work towards -Gives you something to do with vehicles besides drive them around for teh lulz -Encourages exploration Cons: -Possibly exploitable by large groups -You tell me
