    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

I should have mentioned this before: I had a goat do the same thing. I ran all the way up to it and right when I got there it blinked out of existence.

Zombies have really low aggro now

In my experience, the gillie suit makes stealthing around zed way easier. Try taking it off and see what happens. I had the same thing happen to me before. I do agree though, that the zed are still way too easy.

1.7.2.3 zombie player detection is still to high

    No it isn't. It's fine.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Yes. I successfully got the meat, harvested wood, built a fireplace, lit it, cooked the meat, and ate it. All of these things worked flawlessly.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Ok, played 1.7.2.3 for about an hour. Overall It felt good. Frame rates were good depending on server. I used sixupdater as usual. I got to play on one of the new 100 man servers and it ran great. zed aggro seemed appropriate, and dealing with them felt more fluid. I did get aggro'd a couple of times from some distance away, but it didn't feel 'unfair', just that I wasn't being careful enough. Also, animal behavior seemed to be working better. I saw a goat, a cow, and a sheep, and they were all being quite active and walking around. The cow appeared to try to run away when I shot it. I ran into some connectivity issues, mostly the 'no message received for x seconds', but one time I was 'kicked off game: battleye not responding'. I suspect that it was because every single server was filled to capacity. Good patch, runs smooth even with 100 players!

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

Ok, just got to try 1.7.2, and I took a few notes while I was playing. I used Six updater to update and everything went smoothly as usual. I logged into Seattle 43, and it was 38/50 at that time. My ping was 13. (guess where I am!) I felt that the load times were a little bit longer than before, but not really all that long. Just long enough for me to go "...is it working?" All of my gear was present and accounted for with the exception of my camo suit. I am now wearing the civilian clothes. Oddly enough, I still have my old pair of civ clothes in my inventory. I spawned in the correct location I noticed a new field on the debug monitor that said "Visual: 4.5". It went down to 0 after the sun went down. The framerates were great. The only time I noticed a drop was when using my binoculars. As far as Zed behavior goes, I didn't particularly notice a difference. My visibility icon was at 0 the whole time though, because the sun was going down on the server. So, darkness is correctly affecting your characters visibility (was it before? I don't remember). I aggrod 1 zed and led him into a church. He stopped running at the doorway like usual, and I was able to dispatch him without alerting any more zeds with my 1911. Then I sprinted full up through the town and aggrod about 7 zed. They chased me across the field, and I was able to juke them without trouble in a long barn, just like before. So, overall I notice no meaningful change, which is disappointing, as I currently find them absurdly easy to deal with...hopefully they will be tougher when it is brighter out. Did I mention that I was getting excellent framerates? The game ran smooth as glass for me, and my rig is nowhere near top of the line. Great patch! I know others are having trouble, but I can only speak for myself. Nice work.
  7. I found a couple of backpacks earlier today, but they were the only things in an otherwise empty supermarket. Strangely, every deerstand I've checked in the past 3 days have been either empty or had a g17 in it.

Life expectancy now 47 minutes? What's up?

I know I'm doing my part to bring the average lifespan up. Haven't died for like 10+ hours on my current character.

    DayZ players attending Rezzed, Brighton

Can anyone who attended Rezzed comment on the demo of 1.7.2? I'm dying of curiosity!

    Frickin' Hilarious!

Life expectancy now 47 minutes? What's up?

Stats went down after the DDOS. My guess is that the current survival time is only based on data collected since then. Zombies Killed used to be at 75 million. Now it's down to 14 million. Also, we had hit 1 million murders before the DDOS, and now we are back down to 250,000 or so.

    NAME AND SHAME: THE GAME

If you rat somebody out, they can just create a new player profile in Arma2 and carry on as if nothing every happened. Naming them won't help you know who to trust until we have persistent character names.

Is it me or does this sound like a good idea

Just another example of people hiding behind anonymity. The less anonymous we become, the harder it is to hack and exploit without consequences.
  14. I Like the idea of creating a new map that has a better layout, but I don't think that having 2 different maps is the way to go. Part of the fun is in the interaction between people of different playstyles. I play as a lone wolf, but it wouldn't be fun if I didn't think somebody was going to shoot me at any moment. It's this tension that makes the game for me. Otherwise it would just be a nature walk scavenger hunt. Lets say I played as a Lolsniper, the game wouldn't be as much fun without saps like me to pick off. We need each other, whether we like it or not. I do agree with you that resources should be highly localized. One gas station is a good start. What if NVG only spawned in one building? A compass can only be gotten from a certain town? Now you have to go to these places to get these things, and so does everyone else. I think this would be an improvement over being able to just hit random loot spawns until luck provides you with your kit. Also, greater player density would help things immensely, and I believe that servers of up to 200 players have already been hinted at. Time will tell.
  15. Sweet! I'm at #4! That means I'm almost done. :D
