    How to find Cheaters

you won't find anything :) well. if you see CLEANING UP CHEATER VEHICLE or something similar you know cheaters are attempting to spawn vehicles/use them ect. but chances are you won't see thier names anywhere. this game is pretty crap in terms of administration/cheat logging or any of the modern conveniences of most servers with detailed verbose logs. (not just talking about dayz here. arma is just not admin friendly as it is built as a SIM not an arcade/fps) someone needs to come up with a logging option so the server logs things better :< and stuff to allow admins in the lobby to go deal with a cheater if someone witnesses something, rather than attempting to travel across the 255x255km map on foot.

    Starting location: The bean coast

I would like to see the spawns changed to inland, it would allow for a much bigger strategy variation, at the moment you spawn near a town and try there or spend 10mins+ running inland to the nearest loot locations. The only problem would be that new people would be completely lost. I still think a basic map would help, e.g. a hand sketch which shows the locations of towns and the roads, but does not have your location shown or any detailed info (topographic, trees etc.). To fit into the "story" you could fly over the country a few times and sketch what you see whilst trying to locate a safe landing location (spawn some wrecked vehicles on the airfields so that they are not suitable for landing), before running out of fuel and having to parachute out of the plane. :)

    Fixing Off-map

better idea: tents and vehicles don't save off-map. so no stupid "insta-kill" or "invisi-walls". you can go and explore but can't stash things up there.
  4. These are just some features that i think would be good in later updates. Features: The ability to turn M9 mags into M9SD mags and DMR mags into FN Fal mags and other mags etc. Camouflage for vehicles makes them easier to hide. The ability to transfer vehicles and tents to other servers probably not possible though. More guns, vehicles, melee weapons, equipment, camos etc obviously. 30 slot backpack or mayby 35 backpack of course should be extremely rare. More maps. If you have a broken leg and no morphine the ability to combine wood and bandages to fix your leg or so you can atleast walk but at a slower speed. The ability to modify cars add more protection like armour and things. Secrets and easter eggs I dont no if its possible but mayby add enterable police stations. The ability to fortify buildings and make bases. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Post your thoughts and suggestions. Ill add more ideas if they come to me.
  5. Create your own fun. We're at the moment that our group has enough stuff, plenty of vehicles and we're all quite geared out. Now we could do endless raids at NW to get NVGs, but we'll probably end up doing different things. Might go for a sniping session in Elektro tomorrow. Might go for a Meat-giveaway the day after tomorrow. Might fix a bus and taxi people everywhere... You could just search for some players and track their group just for the hell of it.

    Freeside Trading Co.

With how popular the idea is I was thinking a bit. Since we have a lot of people that want to play on more then just the weekends. Why don't they? They can form their own little caches with however many people in the group they want to bring along. Then when it comes time to setup the trading post they can all bring down what ever loot the post needs. This would pretty much eliminate the need for scavengers during the trade sessions. Though I'm sure we can still have them if people want. All people can be then focused into the guard and assigned sectors to sweep and secure. Plus being rapid response teams for any that 'fall through the cracks' Once we get more vehicles (and more trust in the group) we can send the vehicles around to different caches (or just meet the people somewhere if trust is an issue) grab the supplies and return to the post to off load while the group walks it back. It would pretty much turn into something like this. Mon - Thur = Scavenging Fri - Sun = Trade Post With the new communication system we had for Sundays Op we could easily split up into groups. We'd be more secure with around 20+ guards, spread through out the area during Trading. We'd have more supplies, faster, (I think only the leaders should know the locations of all caches) and less likely to run into the 'food problem' during Trading sessions. Side note- I personally thought Davey was an excellent scavenger leader when we went out in the first group. Also, Zarob was excellent on Overwatch. And, in general everyone else did a great job! :)

    Do vehicles spawn 100% working?

I find it typically on a curve Small vehicles like motorcycles, atvs etc are mostly repaired. Medium vehicles like pickups or cars are usually mostly destroyed. Large vehicles like buses and cargo trucks are a little more repaired. Not sure if it's intended to work like this.
  8. Rookie (DayZ)

    Do vehicles spawn 100% working?

Their state of repair is random. I've seen fully repaired, I've seen nearly on fire. The high rarity vehicles (Ural, Military Offroad, UAZ) are usually in a pretty poor state at least requiring all 4 wheels.

    Freeside Trading Co.

Probably this weekend' date=' next week at the latest. We're in talks. See above. Problem with bringing supplies is that we overfilled the car! We're gonna have to find a better way to store stuff, more/bigger vehicles or something. That said; we did so well Sunday we overfilled our storage!! :) bump, sig test :)
  10. im looking at the dayz map for vehicle spawn locations. wondering if they spawn 100% working or do they all need to be repaired?
  11. The scariest element to the game are other players and the uncertainty of their intentions. The zombies are important, but are really only there as an environmental element to me. They are restrictive. They prevent your quick and easy exit, escape, or defense if you are fired on. The zombies are the gasoline tanker driving next to you on a highway 30 feet in the air on columns, and the players are other vehicles around you, or even the driver of the tanker. What I mean to say is the zombies are a source of constant tension, not fear, and the players are a constant fear of that tension exploding. Right?
  12. Only thing that can be rolled back is vehicle locations on the server (not an actual roll back just what happens if you crash the server before the vehicle spots are saved), Say you raid their camp they can roll back to avoid the loss of vehicles and smashed tents.
  13. ABORT

    Atlanta 24 Admin abuse

Well, let's face it. Mayor of Cherno already admitted to resetting the server for friends who have lost or damaged their vehicles to get them back. So, as Mayor said in his own words... "Where there's smoke, there's fire".

  15. Title. (Steam overlay is up for the clock) http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/541804955998522244?tab=public http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/541804955998524327?tab=public http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/541804955998523340?tab=public http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/541804955998571661 <---the three players in question Just want to make sure it is locked for a good reason (other than getting all the vehicles and phat lootz).
  16. Generators - Used to charge anything battery related such as, flashlights, defibrillator, night vision, etc. Must be fueled up like vehicles, by using Jerry Cans. Defibrillator - Can be found in hospitals and military complex's only. The item should have no more than 5 charges to it and then the battery dies. When using the Defibrillator on a dead team mate, it should have a chance of reviving not 100%, this way it promotes more "group play". Lock Picks - Since vehicles are becoming more common and people dislike having them stolen instantly, players should be able to lock their vehicles. Finding Lock Picks of some sort, allows you to pick the locks of vehicles to break in, rather than just getting in and starting it up with out a key or even trying to "hot wire" the vehicle. Trailers - Allowing players to attach their vehicle to a mobile home, trailer or any other attachment to the vehicle, would make for interesting game play. Mobile homes would allow you to cook inside of it, stash clothes, guns and attach a generator to it to use it for electricity. Capturing a Player - When a player is down and unconscious, you should be able to find an item, such as a large bag or a set of ropes to capture him only if he is a bandit. This allows for the players who dislike bandits so much, to get involved in the pvp and rewarded by capturing them and doing whatever they want with them for 15 minutes of game play. Once the 15 minutes is up, the player can choose whether to respawn as a new player or stay as a prisoner. Putting a mask over the players head would distort his vision on the screen, so he can't tell people over VoIP where his location is.. but he gets a funky visual to make it some what pleasant on his eyes, rather than just a black screen for 15 minutes. Marjuana - Planting Herbs on your server and growing them, allowing you to smoke up and get a buzz in-game. This allows you to run faster but see blurry in the distance. Hope you like my list - I have more ideas and could go on all night, but I thought these would make for an interesting game play :) Especially if they make Day Z a stand alone game using Arma 3 Engine.
  17. Since the boats are a bitten the forgotten vehicles i guess -i would like to suggest that boats could have some storage slots, for example the small boats like half of the car slots and the PBX like 2-3 weapon slots and some addditional for ammo ans food. -also you lose way to fast temperature in it,i know at sea its a bit cold sometimes, but i would suggest to let your temperature stays the same, you aint wet anyway when in a boat. -and perhaps to add 1 faster boat, faster then the small boats and slower then the PBX. sorry if there whas a thread about this already.
  18. NOTE: This does not start out as a suggestion but evolves into one. Rant: I have realized (maybe some others have) that at a certain point, the objective of the game gets lost somewhere. Is there an objective? Survive? Done that, and died. Gotten geared up again, went to NW AF, killed some fools, then died a fool myself and started over with the rest of the people I just killed. Rinse and repeat again and again. Final "end game" is vehicles and eventually choppers that are going to add a whole new element to the game but it is hard to get there and you might spend days looking for a vehicle before you find one. Suggestion: Make dynamic objectives giving survivors a point to surviving or existing within this world for so long. They have done it in Evo and Insurgency for Arma2: OA. I do not see why we can't do it for this game. Example: You are in Chernogorsk and you get a mission to go to Green Mountain and investigate the dead soldiers or you find a crashed chopper with a file in it that contains information that leads you to another location. Very general idea at best, I will leave the writers to the details. I am just saying, at some point, you should have a point of staying alive in the game for days, weeks, months.

    Congratulations... 1,000,000 Murders

They are.... I would be a bandit who would sit with this L85A2 of mine at Elektro all day, If it wasn"t for the fear that one day there might be a return of the bandit skin. Well my goal isn"t to survive in DAY-Z it is to have fun without kicking down peoples sandcastles, and make suggestions/bug reports that improve the game. There is 0% benefit to being in a large group. Except that you can blood transfuse eachother and repair vehicles faster. Of course.... now 25% of clans in DAY-Z are bandit clans.... There is no punishment for being a bandit but many rewards.... They live longer and there are 3x more of them then when the bandit skin was still in place. It is easy to kill 10 survivors with a just a CZ550 or killing one Lone Survivor with extremely good gear. Encouraging teamplay will just make bandits group together with other bandits in the bandit campfire. Discouraging banditry is the awnser to this paranoidic fear-filled deathmatch.... To bandits it is basically a game were you loot a little bit of supplies. Camp in a hot-zone and kill people, then survive, then go to a town and camp more for dey "Lulz" It is there playstyle.. I say let them play it... but with less incentives and more negatives to doing it
  20. The idea is simple : We already have train tracks.... why not add a train? The train would constantly go around the map in a circle, every town it hits it will stop for 10 minutes(or less). During this time, if you are lucky enough to be near the train when it stops, you can ride it until the next stop or until you see fit. It would make travel easier, but it's only IF you happen to be near the train when it stops. To prevent people from waiting for the train at specific times, give the train 2-3 schedules that slightly shift so it won't ALWAYS be at a certain town at 10pm. I realize this could be a lot to code in.....but I think it would be cool to see a train actually go around the map....and I don't see how anyone could abuse it. I see a lot of potential to have fun with this, perhaps a group's car breaks down and a train just so happens to come by? Or maybe an entire group could just camp out in the train killing any survivors that come in? It would be AWESOME to see a train mow down zombies! EDIT: I realize this doesn't really make sense....who would be driving the train? But I guess for the backstory : They developed a train(The "Auto-Train") that runs on a schedule and keeps going without anyone using it. If you wanted you could even make it so the train actually runs out of gas (but only in towns) and players must re-fuel it to keep it going (But I think that would defeat the purpose of making it always accessible to players who don't have vehicles, I would sacrifice the realism for that personally )
  21. Per Wikipedia: The groundhog (Marmota monax), also known as a woodchuck, whistle-pig, or in some areas as a land-beaver, is a rodent of the family Sciuridae, belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. I was just standing at my office window and I noticed a whistle pig, as they are called in my home state, hanging out in the neighbor's yard scavenging for edibles in the flowerbed. I opened the window to shoo it away and it went perfectly still. Stopped chewing. Perked up and it could have been a lawn ornament for how still it was. Instead of shouting I watched it and it went back to nibbling and grabbing leaves. Then it stopped again totally still, perked up. Not even chewing. Then back to it. I watched it for 5 minutes repeat this process - every 5 seconds of eating separated by 5 seconds of complete and utter stillness; and, maybe it's only because I've been playing so ever-loving much of this game lately, but it immediately reminded me of DayZ. An animal that lives its life constantly under threat of death from terrors known and unseen; humans, all manner of animals ground-based and airborne, motor vehicles, insects, farming equipment, poisons, natural disaster - every moment of every day of your short life fearing a painful and untimely demise. That's what it's like to be a groundhog. And here he was gathering supplies with precisely the kind of careful precision that I apply in DayZ. Not brute force, guns-blazing, grab it all and blast the windows out, but methodical. First, an exit strategy. Where's the nearest cover and what's the shortest route? Okay, take a nibble then stop. Wait patiently. Listen for gunshots or footsteps or that special shuffle shuffle of nipples on pavement. Check the doors. Communicate. Okay, take a nibble stop. Check the treeline. Check the barn door. Check the back room for people server hopping. Communicate. Nibble, nibble stop. Was that a gunshot okay get low. Listen. Which direction, how far. Watch the zombies they're the key. Can I get away or do I take up a strategic point and wait? It's a method that has served me well and it seems to work for the whistle pigs. If you're having trouble staying alive in DayZ in the face of all you meet try to channel the groundhog. Slow down, plan ahead, be patient and above all be aware. Check, double check and triple check. With a friend you can sextuple check. Footsteps are loud. Gunshots are loud. Angry zombies are loud and for people who hunt survivors they are like giant dinner bells with feet. Follow the zombies and find the beans. Your beans. That's the world you live in now. You're a groundhog now. Be the groundhog. Groundhogs raised in captivity can be socialized relatively easily; however, their aggressive nature can pose problems. Doug Schwartz, a zookeeper and groundhog trainer at the Staten Island Zoo, has been quoted as saying "They’re known for their aggression, so you’re starting from a hard place. [Their] natural impulse is to kill ’em all and let God sort ’em out. You have to work to produce the sweet and cuddly."

    Sidechat and broken bones

That's a pretty cool way of telling people how to re-enable sidechat on their servers :) I feel now that I was overreacting about the broken bones. Though I Still wouldn't mind it being nerfed a little. Of course I've only got more noob questions the longer I play' date=' such as: Do tents, vehicles, and fencing stay on the server where you make them or do they travel with you to every server you visit? And what about if you die with a tent setup? What ammo does a silenced mp5 use? (Because it's not mp5 ammo) What clothes can a female survivor wear? Is there difference between servers that have the tag: [EXPERT'] or [VETERAN] in their name? How do you switch to third person mode? I can't find any such binds out of the hundred bindings in the key config menu. Is there a quick ingame screenshot function? How do you write notes on maps? I've seen some server maps are just full of (X) notes. Some begging for help, offering help, marking bases, random gibberish, marking a friendly survivor hangout (or huge bandit trap). Most of them were in the middle of cities or clustered on mountain tops. I had more questions but forgot most of them while getting my ass beat by zombies after I had lost my crossbow. It was still a major pain but I managed to crawl 2 damn miles to the nearest hospital to get some morphine while avoiding some guy asking, noone in particular, in direct chat, how to get his flashlight working while apparently surviving alone in a zombie infested inland city, during blackout night-time. Immediately afterwards I found an alice pack, double my steel bolt ammo supply, and matches completing my hunting tools, so I was soon carrying around almost a dozen pieces of meat. I got overconfident and decided to go raid the NWAirField. Fucking scary place. Just when I think I'm alone on a low populated server there's either gunfire in the direction I came from getting gradually closer to me or like on one server I hear explosions and see someone lit the barracks on fire (turned out to be a flare). Then lots gunshots and like any paranoid fraidy-cat I'm immediately hiding in the shadows somewhere for several minutes. Never got to really do a clean raid of the barracks as everytime on everyserver there were either dead zed or chemlights inside. I guess I should consider myself lucky for not being spotted; Or stupid for still going inside. Ended up dropping half my meat and bolts to carry around a MP5SD that can't fire mp5 ammo. Lost my beloved crossbow and all my steelbolts to a packing accident (I just don't know where they went, they weren't in my pack or on the ground). I've always imagined my survivor putting lip prints on the side of it and sleeping with it at night; now it's gone and I'm very sad. This is the longest I've been alive. It says day four everytime I connect now and I've racked up over 130 zombie kills. That's enough to be in the top 10 on a some server player lists (I just hope hacker bandits arn't using that list as their hitlist). I know I must seem like a squirrel bragging about it's nut-size to a horse but I'm having a lot of fun surviving now. Also, I'm being stalked by a misquito that follows me from server to server. :(
  23. Looking for a mature English speaker or two to form a DayZ group with. I currently have a repaired tractor hidden on a server and am looking to use that vehicle to repair a few other vehicles I know of that you wont find on vehicle spawn maps. Namely a truck and two atvs. Set up a base camp. Also, I'd like to farm dat equipment out of some of the more dangerous places on the map, bring it back to our camp. From there we become da DayZ badasses. If anyone is interested leave me your skype or steam name and i'll add you. i am not looking for anyone to even be good at the game, more important is that you are trustworthy and not a douche. also not looking to be your leader, just wanna stock pile some shit then have some fun with it :) must have mic.

    Vehicle spawn mechanics.

So there are vehicles that spawn new? or are there only the ones you have to repair?
  25. lvg

    ATV floats away

It's actually just the way Arma 2 is, for example i usually destroy enemy vehicles by driving into them when my vehicle has no weapons, they just fly lol
