1. Possibility to track other players. --> footprints, broken branches, waste (human waste / empty tin cans (from eating or drinking)). ---> footprints would be hard to see if its dry and hard ground but after rain they would be easier to see because the ground has been soft + there would be muddy footprints on asphalt etc. ----> These footprints and other marks of player should stay only 5 to 15 minutes on ground. After that it would be too hard to track + servers would overload. 2. Friendly (for real). --> Something to improve allies between random players: An ally contract what would make friendly fire impossible between random players. If other one resign from it they would have 5 minutes time to run away / make new contract. ---> Also a "trade contract": Promise to trade something without shooting another one. If still deside to shoot, then he would get some penalty. (Any ideas guys?) Pros: Easier to swap guns / ammos / food. Easier to trust people. Cons: No friendly fire, no thrill. Easy to trust someone, no tension if risking life for trading. 3. Batteries for everything that uses them. --> batteries for NVG, flashlight, GPS etc. NVG batteries rarety: very rare (nvg rarety could be raised when they need batteries). Others: rare. 4. Harder to mainetance vehicles. --> Fuel tanks would only have randomly 20 - 80 litres of fuel (So you just cant drive around the map until some one shoots you). ---> Tires would brake while driven over glass or if driven a lot. (You would always be prepared for broken tire.) 4.1. Spike strip --> What would be more cool ambush than spike strip (or something very close to it, like borken class in the road and hope it brokes the tires)? With this you could ambush a car without destroying it so you could also steal it after ambush. 5. Motion sensors and telephone (to monitor them). --> Motion sensors (very rare and only 1-5 could use at the same time. And once again, they work with batteries). If someone/something goes by your sensor, your phone would beep "Sensor number 1 - ALERT" -Do I even have to hype these? Think the possibilities with these! (Base defence, car ambush etc etc). For admins/server owners: 1. Log for disconnects and log ins with time and name/player ID. 2. Rights to ban and report Alt+F4 abusers and cheaters of course. (I hope this would make those cowards stop doing that.) Comments: 1. Really would spice things up if you could trace enemies, or some one is tracing you! Never stay still for too long, even in the woods. But this needs a lot changes to the game and I don't know if its even possible. 2. This have it's pros and cons but if you (forum ppl) improve them, those would be nice extra for beginners + others! Like what would be big penalty enough that you wouldn't kill that another player? -11000 blood and broken legs? 3.This improvement is only realistic and would makes things a bit more complicated and intresting. And if NVG would be more likely to find, you couldn't use them much. Only minutes if you have low batteries. 4.We have our own server and we have 4 vehicles atm. We just drive around them cause they are invinsible against nature. Only another players can stop them. Its zombie apocalypse and you can find gasoline EVERYWHERE. Realistic? (Yes it's fun, but not realistic.) 4.1. Well I think its impossible to find spike strips if there is 0 police station. So those broken class and other spiky things would do it. 5. How awesome would motion sensor be? Just think the possibilities. Let your imagination do the rest. --- LAST WORDS --- Long post, I hope you had time to read those 5 ideas. If you like them, please comment and improve them freely! [ :exclamation: More comments = More likely to become true :exclamation:]

NOTE: This does not start out as a suggestion but evolves into one. Rant: I have realized (maybe some others have) that at a certain point, the objective of the game gets lost somewhere. Is there an objective? Survive? Done that, and died. Gotten geared up again, went to NW AF, killed some fools, then died a fool myself and started over with the rest of the people I just killed. Rinse and repeat again and again. Final "end game" is vehicles and eventually choppers that are going to add a whole new element to the game but it is hard to get there and you might spend days looking for a vehicle before you find one. Suggestion: Make dynamic objectives giving survivors a point to surviving or existing within this world for so long. They have done it in Evo and Insurgency for Arma2: OA. I do not see why we can't do it for this game. Example: You are in Chernogorsk and you get a mission to go to Green Mountain and investigate the dead soldiers or you find a crashed chopper with a file in it that contains information that leads you to another location. Very general idea at best, I will leave the writers to the details. I am just saying, at some point, you should have a point of staying alive in the game for days, weeks, months.

Abandoned trucks, ambulances and military supply vehicles.
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to 's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the sound of this, Military vehicles could drop ammo and only ammo, as weapon spawns are already common enough to fill out their rarity levels, in my opinion. -
You weren't banned for killing the admin. You werent banned for looting an entire camp. You werent banned for destroying a base including vehicles and tents. You were banned for disconnecting during a firefight when we had you and your clanmates surrounded on the coast and it wasn't until after you guys took multiple shots and were bleeding did you decide to disconnect. Please find another server as cowardly acts such as disconnecting during pvp is 100% not tolerated on my server and is a bannable offense. It's written in the motd and displayed every so many minutes.

Give Tents/Vehicles Inventory Space Counters
Time Glitch replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Cool' date=' well done, but that's still not in the suggestions thread. Thanks for bumping the topic though ;) [/quote'] It also has nothing to do with giving us an easy visual indicator of how much space we have left in our tents and vehicles =P -
Ok so im no noob to days(been playing for like 2 months)im looking for people to play with as none of my Friends currently play DayZ, Preferably people from the UK ... With the time zone, Ping & The fact that i mostly play in UK servers and so on, I have a mic, I have Skype, Ventrilo & TS3 available.(im open to other sources of voice contact too) Now im 32 years old & have a family & work so i can usually only get on after after 8pm(UK time)but after 8pm im usually playing for a good few hours most nights, I like to do all kinds in dayz, From looting large city's, Small town & villages and also just exploring the map in general looking for vehicles & deer stands etc. Now im usually a friendly person & would prefer not to shoot on site but if i bump into somebody i think maybe a thread i wouldn't hesitate to take them down. I'm from the north east of England, I'm a guy who likes to drink a few lagers on a weekend and play games(ATM its DayZ) ... I ain't gonna lie i swear quite a bit lol but im not a threatening kind of guy, Its just in general banter, I would much prefer to enjoy and have a laugh playing games than i would be serious. I would prefer you to be 18+ ... It would be great if we could get a little group going here, I would even be happy if i met just one person to group with lol. :) If anybody likes the sounds of this hit me up. Looking forward to hearing from you. ;) Oh & i also don't want people who are gonna complain about dying or moan about bugs lol.

Think of it this way... Lets start with the assumption that in Rocket's vision of the DayZ backstory is one n which there are few working cars to be seen. For that he has two options, either limit the number of vehicles or limit the amount of gas/petrol (I'd say that this would be the real limiting factor in any zombie plagued disaster) Since it seems that working gas stations are always full, or will simply refill on server restart, it makes sense to achieve the same effect by limiting the number of cars. Now unfortunately, this means that certain groups may have the advantage in repairing and hoarding vehicles, but that might be addressed in the future. This far into the storyline of DayZ, the incessant sound of engines should have been replaced by crickets, desperate gunfire and the sound of flatulence from all of the beans being consumed...

I agree that something needs to change to encourage people to use their vehicles instead of hoarde them off map. I would definitely want off-map entity's positions to not be saved. That seems like the most obvious thing to stop vehicles being hidden in a place they can never be found. I'd probably increase fuel consumption (or lower fuel storage in each vehicle) as well so you have to make frequent trips to a gas station. It may also be a good idea to make vehicle wheels take slow periodic damage based on distance travelled whilst they're offroad or in a forest. Make the damage less if it's an off-road vehicle like the ATV or land rover.

I'm all for regular database wipes. As long as everything goes, including vehicles, tents etc. (Not sure if servers would need to do some form of reset to remove tents etc?)
-
Hello This has probably been suggested a lot, but what about camouflage netting to hide tents and vehicles? They would be much harder to spot and people would not have to put their tents outside of the map (I don't but some do). The downside of them is they are very rare, a military only spawn, and require a long taking the netting off animation when you want to drive anywhere in a vehicle. Thanks for listening to my idea Cheers

First off, you may notice the formatting is very funky, currently for my test builds I'm linking directly to DayZwiki data. Until I know I'm allowed to use data from their site I'll be waiting to do any formatting. I do plan on copying most of the data locally inside the app to speed up load times. I'll also work on cleaning up the GUI a little bit. This is targeting towards ICS Devices (4.0.X+) but will work on any 2.2 device and up. Currently in the app: map loot table weapon stats vehicle stats & locations equipment info consumables info I know that a few people have already made a few DayZ apps that are maps and what not so I would like to create one that is more then just a map. Beyond an interactive map, what would you guys want to see in a DayZ android app?? Things I have planned: Map of course Loot tables (%chance of drop etc..) Possible server browser just to see how full servers are and stuff(haven't looked into how hard that would be yet) weapon table (with loudness range etc..) vehicle table (what vehicles spawn, what parts they have, etc..) I'd be very interested in hearing what you guys would want in a DayZ android app.

Emissions - forces players indoors every few hours
TheButtSatisfier posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Did a search in the forums to see if this idea was suggested before, and since I didn't find anything, figured it would be worth submitting to spark some conversation. If anyone has any valid feedback I'll try to monitor the thread and keep a concise list of updates here in the primary post. Furthermore, if this idea was already suggested please let me know and I'll link over to that thread to give credit where it's due. *** The suggestion *** First, watch this video. Now, here's the concept: every (X) amount of time, slightly randomized so that it's not clockwork, an "emission" occurs across the entire Chenarus map. The emission itself happens after a visible and audible warm-up period (usually rumbling and red skies) which lasted about a minute or so, and could be adjusted for DayZ appropriately for balance. The player would have to run indoors in order to avoid being killed. Now while the emission in the video above for Stalker was based on psychic emissions which can kill the player, that mechanic obviously won't work for Day-Z. I'm primarily concerned with the effect and not so much with the backstory, but we could call it a nuclear power plant ejection of fallout, some sort of plague-storm, I don't know - you get the point. *** How this would enhance the game *** While playing last night I ran into a building, and as always, was checking every room to make sure that I was alone. It occurred to me: what would happen if some environmental, map-wide factor forced all players to run like hell to a form of shelter? What if this happened in the NW airfield? All the sudden there's a massive face-off in the fire station or control tower or barracks as people flee the carnage outside. Or maybe they negotiate a cease-fire under those conditions over voice chat (unlikely, I know): but it would force people at certain times to group together in a very uncomfortable manner. People running through the wilderness would have to stick somewhat close to a form of shelter unless they knew an omission occurred recently. People running in terror would also attract a wave of zombies as they flee to shelter, so as soon as they get in they'd have to deal with the incoming horde in their wake. *** Some questions regarding balance *** - A tent as a form of shelter? - A vehicle as a form of shelter? (bicycles, ATVs, motorcycles, boats would not apply) - Airborne vehicles would crash once the emission begins? - Infected left outside die during an emission? (Would had an interesting "reward" factor to emissions, but with a twist - you could run to high-loot areas, but you'd probably encounter others doing the exact same thing) - As soon as an emission begins to warm up all players get the "shock" status applied to them to deter people from simply quitting to avoid the effects - The effect itself: maybe a ridiculous amount of lightning? I know it scares the bejeezus out of me at night when I'm not expecting it, so having it happen in high volume without any rain might be indicative enough to run like hell. *** Other comments *** None so far; let's hear what you have to say! Even if people think this is a shitty idea I'd love to hear something constructive and mature about why they think that; that way we can at least make a complete thread with all intelligent pros/cons for others in the future should they decide to revisit this idea. -
Is there no way to find the last played servers? explanation: first time i found a ATV but it needed gas, so i read on forum that you had to disconnect to reinterract with vehicles spendt then 2 hours to find the server again, but had to give up :-/ second time i was on my way to me dead body to get my gear back but my game crashed and again.. no way to find the server again.. if there indeed is no favorite/last played servers then there really should be

the vehicles are gone though

It's a known issue by the admins. Apparently there's a hole in the arma 2 engine that allows cheaters to run any script you can imagine, which leads to the most common hack: spawning vehicles and other things from arma 2 into dayZ. Like a Battleship: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23386
-
To clarify this, the chopper is now in the possession of the admins, but they are holding off joyriding this bitch around until we get an answer. The chopper is the correct model (2x 240, green) of the huey that *should* be in the game. The server has not been up long enough to have helicopter vehicles EVER spawned historically. This is why we are leaving it, we do not want to be seen as abusing any rights etc, until we know this is legitimately spawned in.

Yep. Sometimes tents bug out even if they are saved and pull a houdini after a restart. And Vehicles always despawn after a server restart so never store anything you really want to keep in vehicles. Unless you are the server admin and you control the restarts.

THE PVP QUESTION- fixed with earned perks!!!
zipper replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Tell me then, what exactly is the PvP problem? You being shot on sight? You pose a threat to the person that you stumble upon. They have no idea what your intentions are, they do not know if you are there to kill them, so they are defending themselves. Bandits are a real thing. How you think this wouldn't apply if a real apocalypse happened boggles my mind. Gangs already exist in the world, and there are already some places you can go to in major cities where you can be shot on sight for any number of reasons. Some are just groups of people forming together, others are some of the most cutthroat people in the world. They do not care about you. This mimics the shoot on sight "problem" perfectly. PvP is not a problem. Why you guys keep saying this I don't know. If you find yourself constantly being shot, you need to re-evaluate what it is you are doing. If you spawn on the edge of Electro, instead of running into Electro, go the other way. Stop running straight into towns without observing activity in the town first. If you don't, you are bound to find someone and get shot. Those of you that think that PvP is a problem would be among the 99% of people who would have become infected if something like this ever really happened. You group together with a couple people you know, and you stay together. You don't take unnecessary risks like finding everything you need to move north in a grocery store, but still wanting to check out the corner store across the street. If you ran into another survivor who was unarmed, just asking him if he is friendly isn't going to tell you anything about him. You have to watch him and monitor his behavior. If you managed to build up a sizable camp on a server, would you take someone you had never met before straight to its location and log off leaving them there just because they said friendly once over voice chat? For all you know they could take all your gear/vehicles, and destroy whatever else was left there. You wouldn't bring a stranger there. You have to build trust among people you do not know. If you do not do this, you are just asking to get shot in the back every time you see someone. Mind that you are playing a extremely difficult and cutthroat game based on survival. People would kill because they can in a post apocalyptic world, there is nothing to punish them for doing so. They aren't going to go to jail. If anything they are gaining something out of it because they know it is one less person they have to worry about. So again, for those of you who think there is a PvP problem, what exactly is the problem? You are trying to establish rules in a world where no rules exist. What you currently see as wrong, could be completely changed through an event as traumatic as a zombie apocalypse. In order for you to be completely immersed, you have to accept the storyline/events given to you in a game. It is no different from when you go watch a movie or read a book based in a fantasy world. The sooner you accept the PvP aspect of DayZ, the more enjoyable your experience will be. You say there is a PvP problem within DayZ. I say there is a lack of people who know how to minimize their risks. DayZ has a pretty steep learning curve, but that is what makes the game so fun. There is not a PvP problem in the game. People just have no idea how to build trust amongst each other. Stop posting about your mistakes and start learning from them. If you do this, the only person who will be mad is Rocket, because the average life expectancy will start to go up again. TL;DR - Stop being surprised every time you are shot on sight, and start being surprised when you meet someone who doesn't. -
So me and some friends just raided a tent city with over a dozen tents. We also found 2 cargo trucks and a pickup near the city which we took back to our base with us. Upon arriving at base we began unloading some of the gear into tents. We were doing this for easily 20+ minutes. Then, the server restarted. When we had returned, as soon as the server was unlocked, all 3 vehicles were gone. We checked tents to verify that the loot we had gathered was still there, and it was. So 2 questions, 1. What happened to the trucks? 2. What happens when you flatten a tent?

Would that explain all the vehicles and all 4 tents being gone?

FR 10 - Chopper Battles and Jets
Greg-UK4 replied to Calgon (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
"I think the admin of FR10 is cheating buy spawning vehicles and teleporting/spawning everywhere." Don't be silly, server admins cannot spawn vehicles without using "hacks", in which case it doesn't matter if they are "admins" or not, they are hackers. please can you people stop making unfounded accusations against the people hosting servers for you to play on! "ps: the Hummer with remote control and the 2 black heli with gatling (same type as crashed heli) can't spawn without a command, so there is someone cheating, and if the admin is not blind he IS the cheater." You would be suprised at how little is actually logged in regards to cheats. You need to know EXACTLY the command they are using to spawn the vehicles in order to catch it. It got easier with the last round of hacks because they were made publicly available, as defenses increase in complexity so do the hacks. stop being a child and accusing the admins ;) -
I guess that depends... If we don't have any vehicles on '64 we can make a straight transition to '104' date=' but if we do have vehicles we should go ahead and plan this run on '64. [/quote'] And by that he means Seattle 64. Still running for 2 more hours!

THE PVP QUESTION- fixed with earned perks!!!
TheProphecy replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I will agree that there is a PvP problem, although it's not nearly as bad as the whiners make it seem. I do not agree with your perk based solution, however. I believe the PvP problem stems from a couple of things that can easily be fixed. 1. Military loot - There's too much of it, and I don't know how anyone could deny it. Remove military loot spawns from fire houses and deer stands. Lower the spawn rate of all other military loot spawns by 50% or so. 2. Giving players a reason to explore - Right now, we have 0 reason to run around in a forest other than the hope of finding a group's camp. The fix is simple. Use a crashed helicopter-like event that drops supplies not only in forests, but around the entire map. Threads have been made suggesting loot washing up on shore, crashed food trucks/ambulances/military vehicles/boats, etc. Also in this category would be giving players a reason to go into small towns. Small towns are a waste of map space right now. It's been said in many topics, but just add some loot spawns on the road/in front of buildings. This way, if someone is looking to hit up a town for food/water, they don't have to bypass 3-4 small towns in order to hit a medium/large town. 3. Give geared players something to do - So, here's a situation that many players find themselves in. I have a good gun, plenty of ammo and food/water/medical supplies. I don't need to hit up NWA/NEA/deer stands or Stary unless I want to hoard loot and put it in a tent. If I don't want to hoard, I can either wander aimlessly in search of a vehicle, run around the wilderness and enjoy the view or go and kill people. Killing people seems to be the popular mindset of most players. Give geared players something to do and you'll see less DMR wielding clowns sniping freshly spawned players near Cap Golova. To recap: Less military loot floating around means more time finding it, which in turn means less geared players hunting people down in Cherno/Elektro. More loot spawns in small towns and random events across the map means less geared players hunting people down in Cherno/Elektro. Giving geared players more reasons to stay away from Cherno/Elektro is self explanatory. -
1. You saved the vehicles when you arrived at your camp? If not, they probably respawned back where you stole them. 2. The tent is destroyed, but I believe the gear inside it stays on the ground for a while then despawns. Before the recent patch, levelled tents would respawn back intact, but I think that's fixed now.
-
A few more vehicles w/faster respawns (if destroyed) and somehow keeping them on map would make it a hell of a lot easier to find.
