if the downtime is longer than 7days do all tents and vehicles get wiped? Or does it not count when the server is offline? -
item duping hasnt been around since 1.7.1 with enough time and work, finding three DMRs and ghillie suits is entirely possible, just as is finding and fixing up 8 vehicles. Its not duping, just teamwork between 10 guys and alot of fucking gametime Item duping is around in 1.7.1.5

Limit vehicle saving to 1 per player
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Delta Smoke 01's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The idea that all camps are "miles" off map is a myth. Unless you have a helicopter, which are currently disabled on all but a very small number of servers, then it is completely pointless to hide your camp off the map. It requires enormous amounts of time to run back and forth, and consumes more fuel than even a storehouse of Jerry Cans can make up for. You would be spending 90% of your time in game traveling back and forth to your camp and 9 of the other 10% fetching fuel to make up for it. Then you're halfway back to the map and your friend logs in now you have to turn around... It's just not that common. Our camps are never more than 1000m from a road so we can access fuel and travel quickly around searching for players and loot. And many other camps are this way. I have stumbled across camps with 4-6 vehicles in them on multiple occasions. Stop crying about "hoarders" and get out there and start hunting for vehicles. They're not that hard to find. -
i'd like to see [fixed] perma death, player cannot enter same server for 15 minutes ? (kicked from server) after death, so to make sure player can not loot his own body. [fixed] player idle in server lobby, after x minutes player auto kicked from server for being idle/afk [fixed] out of bound parked vehicles and tents explode when player tries to save the position.

Limit vehicle saving to 1 per player

Absolutely not. Vehicles get stolen and destroyed constantly. So I keep backups. I have ~4 vehicles hidden in different places at any one time. "It's not fair," is bullshit. Go find my vehicles if you want them. I'm not online 24/7 and even when I'm online I'm not just camping my vehicles. Go find them. There right there. Over there in the woods. You can practically see them from the road. Use your eyes. Those wet balls in your face holes. Yup, those are the ones. -
Tents and Vehicles and all other sorts of storage do not actually SAVE anything. That's right. Anything you could ever work towards just disappears for whatever reason. Rocket, I haven't played in a couple weeks because, like you said, we should play this game not to have an all out battle, but to survive and thrive. How can I even begin to survive when I can't establish a camp, a base of operations, in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere? I had a car full of goodies, I walk maybe 100 yards from it, I come back, it's gone. I have tents full of goodies that me and some friends spent days gathering for. Somehow everything disappeared within those tents. If there is ONE single thing breaking this entire game for me, it is not being able to live a PERSISTENT life in the wilderness. You even said it's supposed to be persistent, but it's really not. Now I would understand this is happening because it's Arma 2's engine, but any form of assurance that this will be fixed in the future will secure me and about 10 others at playing the game later on. There is a trend after all - you play for a couple weeks, you learn how to dodge zombies, scour towns for goods/weapons, kill other players, dodge other players, etc. After a while, you want to actually SURVIVE a different way. But you find out you can't.. because the world isn't really persistent at all. Only your character is, making it so very unrealistic and repetitive and boring to have to scavenge town after town every single time you login. Easily fixed by having tents and cars WORK. Yeah it's drives me insane lol

Limit vehicle saving to 1 per player

Not sure why this is an issue, find their camp and steal it (: I've found 2 vehicles so far and they were both in camps, killed someone for one once... exploring is profitable :D -
Limit vehicle saving to 1 per player
suiside replied to Delta Smoke 01's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
vehicles are more often used for storage than transport, which is kinda lame, maybe make them break down when not being driven so they have to at least start the engine every day or move position , now i see most being used as lockers. -
Day Z endgame suggestion (Warning: long post)
Turnipski replied to oebus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Great post Oebus. Totally agree that Day Z lacks a solid end-game. Once you have good equipment there is nothing left to do except kill other players. My team found a boat and decided to visit the island in the very south-east of the map. There we found plenty of animals and a water pump so we could have lived there forever if it wasn't so mind numbingly boring. So what do we do now? We murder... I think for new players the game already has a pretty crazy amount of stuff to learn so I think it's varied enough. There are a lot of skills players must learn such as map reading that can take quite a while to master. Throw in bandits and it's a good few deaths before you really figure out the game enough to be ready for end-game content (of the difficulty I would like to see) Yes. We need a goal to achieve. Fixing up Vehicles is a decent step in the right direction but once you have them' date=' what do you do with them? This chain of thinking could continue forever so you need one 'end-game' goal/challenge to which all other goals in the game help towards. Yes please, incredibly tough zombies would make a great end-game challenge! Making the zombies more of a threat the further north you go would give people the option to choose what difficulty they like to play at. In my opinion the northern barracks should be absolutely swarming with zombies that take 6 body hits and sometimes 2 headshots to kill. Mowing them down with an M240 would be so much fun, but you would need a team with you to defend against those that make it into close range. This kind of planned operation or 'raid' is what we need to keep us challenged. Personally I can't wait until ArmA3 underground buildings - I hope they make a huge underground labyrinth that rocket can fill to the brim with nasties and loot! It seems to me that guns are a good motivator for people to go and loot. I would love to see a stalker style weapon modification system where the only weapons that spawn are the most basic i.e. no silencer / scope. Survivors would need to find the parts to create the more advanced weaponry. Being able to load magazines with ammo would also be great and would be nicer than the fiddly right-click conversion between ammo types. Also, everything in the game could be 'consumable' to force the hunt for loot to never end. Matches should definitely be consumable, that's just crazy that they aren't - guess it's an engine thing. Weapons / tools could degrade and break forcing you to find replacements. -
ahh cool, yea noot bad idea, tbh its something that should be expanded on massively, not just the variety of possible lootable vehicles/storage objects but also randomising their position. The stationary spawn point of fixable vehicles is also a problem i think :(

In DayZ your CPU is doing bugger all and SLI makes a big difference to Arma, especially in DayZ. DayZ happens to be one of the least CPU intensive Arma missions you can play. If you where to play Warfare, or Domination, or a mission with a view distance over 2k and masses of vehicles and AI, then you would see less advantage from SLI as your CPU would be the bottle neck. But for DayZ? SLI allows you to turn things like Postprocess and Object detail, Shadows etc to their highest settings. I'm running: gtx295 and q9650

Buying Private Military Company DLC for Day Z?
Th3Z0n3-85 replied to Henyo10's topic in New Player Discussion
DLC are only for the Survivor, Sniper,Camo skin & for high textures of vehicles and crosshairs -
Let me preface this by saying: if you're on the coast killing people for sport you're not skilled as you think and you're breaking the game. You're the bane of this mod, and honestly, you're kinda stupid. You, coast griefer, are a loser. You're life is so broken you have nothing better to do than to ruin other's fun as easily and quickly as possible. That being said... If you hang in the north, rebuild vehicles, set up camps, kill zombies, and guard high end loot spawns killing anyone "stealing your" item drops you might just be a real bandit with some actual chops to show. - The person with the most zombie kills and the longest life while living in the north is the most skilled. Hands down. If you have any real talent you leave the coast for good save for that occasional hospital visit. Fact is, there aren't enough real bandits out there. This is why I propose a time wait of one hour on pvp for all newly spawned players. Quite simply what that means is all newly spawned players would have to wait one hour before they could shoot, or be shot by another player. This could be marked in some way to show others who's new and who's not. The benefits of this feature would go both ways. For survivors: The elimination of coast griefing as a thing. Gives the chance for new players to learn the actual game. For bandits: This actually would benefit you the most. Now when you kill someone it will actually count for something. Survivors heading north will be armed, which means you could actually boast skill for those murder counts, and they'll probably have something you need (food, water, ammo, gear). Best of all, they won't be able to return quickly to exact revenge which means you're safer to loot their bodies and change positions. I'd like to note: I do not need this. This is not a suggestion to help me out. If I'm ever killed on the coast I simply respawn until I'm close, find the nearest axe, and slice the motherfucker down. Then I simply switch servers so he can't do the same (because fuck you). However, had I not started playing DayZ until after this recent patch I'd probably have quit after 3 days instead of getting 7 friends to join the game also. Imagine what that means to Bohemia Interactive: $30 to play and I quit after a few days of frustration and either speak negatively of it, or not at all. vs. $30 to play and I love it, recommending it highly equaling $210 more in sales plus long term support plus we will all likely move to Arma 3 if the mod takes off well enough equaling even more sales. Not to mention the discussion of paying for severs...I got a map...it goes on. See the difference? And I know this applies to many others as well. Coast griefers should get bans based on this fact alone. They're sucking the soul right out of this project. ----- ALSO, Zombies need to be harder. Way, way, way, way, harder. Hits should deal 200-450 damage instead of the puny 80-100 they're doing now. Bleeding should start being possible under 9000 blood, broken bones under 4500. I'd also like to see more of them in random areas and the main cities (the ones with hospitals and/or military drops). Perhaps lower their vision, the increased number will balance this. People should sometimes have to regret taking that shot. Melee should take a front seat. (Bayonets? Duct tape + Rifle + Hunting Knife?) And can we please have the ability to struggle and throw back zombies off of us or push them out of the way? Maybe throw a few punches? I feel if all these were implemented together they would offer much balance to the game... I hope others do as well.

typical asswipe thought proccess. "im a douchebag' date=' so everyone else must be a douchebag". i've had cars, and everytime I hid them within the game zone, and used them until somoene found them. hoarding shit outside the map is on the same level of douchebaggery as alt+f4'ing to avoid death, and server hop farming/flanking for PK's, and no excuses and trolling will change that ;) [/quote'] Hording will forever happen aslong as people are greedy and want stuff for them self. i dont think hording is a bad thing. if you gonna use vehicles The worse part is the people driving em so far off the map. just to get them away from the game cos they think no one should be able to use vehicles at all Note: All our shit is within the mapzone =) so much baawing over vehicles being moved away, come on guys :p please explain. how would you use a car\crossbike if you were going offline mate?
-
What an accomplishment to host a server, instantly hoard vehicles, place them off-map and then take screenshots. Shit. It is, it is indeed.

My group has found 4 ATV's, 2 bikes and a van over the last week or so. We weren't pussies about and said, "OMG, we have to get this out of the map ASAP." We actually used the vehicles. One such instance was a raid on the NW airfield which resulted in my death and the loss of an ATV. We also used the van to raid Cherno. After that, we parked the van and the ATV at different locations, INSIDE THE MAP. The van was either eaten by a server error or taken by a player. The ATV is still in the same spot, at least it was last time I checked. Vehicles are meant to be used, not taken outside of the map and hoarded.

.. what is up with all the extremely easymode servers lately? 3rd person, crosshairs, nametags and map position(!)? Really? Here's a couple of things to think about: 1.) Just because you look around corners in 3rd person, doesn't mean someone else is not doing it also. 2.) Just because you can fire any weapon from the hip with crosshairs doesn't mean someone else is not doing it also. 3.) Nametags don't only give away your position to anyone who has a scrollwheel and looks around regularly, if you press space and look around you can find vehicles, tents, etc. 4.) What exactly is the purpose of map position/magic gps enabled? Do you also want to be handheld on your way in the woods? Seriously, a few easy places for beginners are alright but 70% of the populated servers seem to be running these settings lately.

Securing bases without imbalancing gameplay
Avean (DayZ) replied to Avean (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well it cant be an anti game as its a game with limited space. Its so easy to find hidden tents and vehicles. There should be a way for people to save some of theyre stuff safely so they have backup. -
The biggest reason for the shoot on sight mentality seems to be that even though someone says they're friendly, they can still shoot you in the back as soon as you turn around. I personally don't have a problem with this, I avoid strangers. However, I'd rather a simple fix be pushed through before we start having penalties for people playing the bandit. What I suggest is for you and another player to be able to flag each other as "Friendly". What this would do is make you unable to damage each other through melee or gunfire, things like grenades would still work of course. It wouldn't be instant, maybe taking 60 seconds after the confirmation before you are unable to damage each other. Of course you would be able to remove the friendly mark between you and another player whenever you want. Though again a wait period before it's actually confirmed may be required. This could also be implemented towards fixing loggers. Simply put, if you're within X radius of another player (or zombies even) and they are not marked as a friendly, you cannot abort. Alt F4ing would perhaps cause you're character to simply hang around for a few moments. Though in my opinion Alt F4 should be in the in-game unbindable key for suicide. I understand that betrayal is a big appeal to people in Dayz, but I'm finding a lot of people aren't even using it maturely. We aren't even getting to the point where we can betray each other anymore. Would you rather say friendly and then shoot someone in the back for a can of beans, or confirm friendly gain their trust and have them lead you back to their vehicles and tents. Our biggest hurdle is everyone who is playing who'd prefer to act like idiots. The amount of betrayals "for the lulz" is the #1 reason players shoot on sight. They know that they aren't killing a real person, as such they don't feel it worth taking seriously. Idiot open fire because they just want to kill another player in a video game, and serious players open fire because there is no way to ween out the idiots. The maturity of the players involved directly influences the success of this mod. Immature players to no surprise, act immature when dropped into a sandbox. They could care less about the social experiment.

As the subject says I'm looking for a UK group or just other people to play with. I'm 21 and have been playing dayz for a month or so now. I'm currently just north of Stary Sobor and have a Bizon SD and an FN FAL and most of the toolbelt supplies. I have got bored of playing alone or with my few friends that have Arma. Really want to start fixing more vehicles setting up small camps etc.... Please reply below or PM me your details Cheers, Alex

Tent and Vehicle Storage - How not to glitch?
Maverick1701 replied to skillet (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It seems to be that the first time you place them, they will not save your items; they need to be respawned by a server restart and then their inventories will persist. If you had cloned a tent by placing it a few times, only the last position seems to "work" after the restart, the previous tents will still drop items. I don't store critical items in them still, but you can at least store some supplies. No idea how it applies to vehicles, though. -
Who defines realistic zombies? They aren't realistic, so in the end it all comes down to how creative you are. How can a zombie be unrealistic if it's something fictional? Basically you want everyone and their mother to have a vehicle. I like the fact that this game is actually a... yes, you guessed it, survival game/simulator. It's easy as it is now. You're just not trying hard enough. Learn to live with the game mechanism like the rest. I've been playing this game since its early release and I haven't had a problem with "veering off in other directions from your friends". So communicate? Why do you want to approach every single little thing by implementing shortcuts to everything. You want this game to be Left 4 Dead 2? Zombies going through doors, gates etcetera is a bug. File a bug-report if one is not existent (which I very much doubt) Remind you, it's Alpha and bugs are prone to happen. It's a privilege, not a right to play this modification. Be glad with what you got and help the developer team by filing bug reports and feedback (such as this... to a certain extent) Don't know about machine-guns on vehicles. I can imagine how people will just ride through cities easily and mow down everyone in split seconds. More vehicle/vehicle models would be nice but I think I read somewhere that's going to get implemented soon enough. A reward-system for increased stats? Are you insane, person? That was most possibly the worst suggestion I've ever heard. Mind you, it's a realistic survival zombie game. There's a reason why you waltz around the airfield/strips/barracks/stands for gear. There's a reason you venture north and explore the landscape. If you want to get rewarded for kills and stats, try Battlefield or Call of Duty, I think their "reward system" will fit you a bit better. Sorry if I came off as rude but this is my genuine reply to your thread. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions, always nice to see threads like these. Shows people are interested in shaping up the game to what it'll be like in the official release. Cheers.

I had Cheat Engine on at the time, I was in SuperPowers in Chernarus with my friend Matty, who also plays the game. I was spawning myself guns and vehicles, I deleted the scripts and script folder however before changing to Day Z, but like an idiot, I left Cheat Engine up >.>. I am going to have to ask the server admin for US 10 Chicago to help me out specifically lol. Please do not comment calling me a hacker etc. I use it for non offline games so as not to interrupt online integrity and immersion, not to mention BattlEye has a say in it too :P. - spence0892 Thank you for your replies by the way guys, really helpful. If you want to check out me and my friends team(when and if i get back to us 10 chicago) we are a decent team. We recently had to start over due to heavy losses but we are back on track. spence0892 Ad-Man, Matty, Jazz, P-Rock, Camo.

Thread needs more pics. Also, if I had those vehicles, I would no sequester them in my camp, I would be using them to run down survivors and raid cities. Show off my awesome power and display my might to my rivals. Riskier? Definitely. But more rewarding. ;)
