  1. Certainly on my survival check-list XD I kind of meant plausible devices (whatever they may be :s)' date=' i mean if the game holds onto sandbox features whilst exploring several different features of activities/interactions; so as examples including other threads ive come across, moding vehicles/weapons/skins(clothes), establishing and fortifying bases, foraging/bush-craft(survivalist creativity); with the intention of pushing sandbox interaction, it might also be the basics for exploring with economic mechanics. So the basics of what i was thinking were simple repairs to radio/gps/torch/vehicle radios(this would be along the lines of similar principles with weapon repairs, if included :s) The remote laptop device mentioned earlier (dunno whether by OP) also could be a very delicate rare item, which could be vulnerable in a fire fight, but repairable in an organized group. Expanding it further for the sake of sandbox, it could also include possible repairs to street lights/inner building lights(when/if buildings are opened up in arma 3 XD). An assortment of items could possibly create a sort of security(NV) camera to look over approaches to established organized settlements, aswell as the equipment for receiving visual feed created and established somewhere in the base (computers stripped from offices/schools). The camera could also possibly be worked in conjunction with one of the radio towers for distant observations of positions of interest (whatever that clans p.o.i might be) If bases were set up around airfields, maybe mechanics could be developed around utilizing the radar system in the ac towers? Which advanced groups who wanna monitor the (mist)hordes XD plan movements/retreats/evasion-tactics/camp lock-down tactics/ or a rid-the-world-of-zeds-campaign. Or maybe make the whole process even more of a challenge and make survivors de-construct the equipment and haul it back to base (along the lines of suggestions for stripping damaged vehicles for parts) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/25101-airborne-virus-v35/page__hl__%2Bairborne+%2Bvirus (If the mist was really damaging, advanced groups could of stripped medical equipment from hospitals to deal with those suffering the affects, helping new players to interact with the established DayZ community, and giving a risky dilemma to lone wolves and small groups on whether to approach and if they will need to offer/do anything for treatment XD) lol if (severe) environmental effects were considered more seriously you could even construct a small portable wind generator http://inhabitat.com...e-wind-turbine/ that'd be lighter and quieter than the portable fuel generator, but more unpredictable/vulnerable to changing weather. I dunno, like i said before im not sure on what the electric kit could serve for devices, maybe it would be purely for larger more complex arrangements repaired with a catalogue of various electrical components, mirroring the same mechanics to vehicles and their associated universal used items. But the sandbox element combined with the challenge of hauling and combining rare equipment/components/items could explore options for a basic economic interaction between established groups and small groups/survivors wishing to use facilities/equipment. Alot of this also depends on whether clans/groups could establish well fortified permanent bases without them being spit roasted by exploits/hacks as ive seen in game very large groups and large assortments of items/vehicles/perma-fixtures be destroyed by ghosters (or even a well placed sniper considering what cherno/electro looks like lit up with flares let alone street lights)

    Update came. Where helicopters?

Wow, someone who can actually explain this issue. I've been trying to get a legitimate response about this issue for weeks and have yet to get one. Thank you for that. The reason I haven't understood the issue is because in the vanilla game there are dozens of vehicles/air flying around the map at any given time and one helicopter breaks DayZ? I didn't understand that. So a bug broke it? Alright, that I can understand.

    Eliminate M107 and AS50

To shoot people, obviously. As to shoot vehicles.

    teleport kill on US302

I kept playing on this server until a couple of days ago and I would be surprised if these NCR guys were doing it. I switched server because the the settings seemed to be changed by the server's admins (activated crosshair, map markers etc) Anyways. I think it was 2-3 days ago where me and my buddy finaly faced those NCR guys. I think they had a Camo Military Jeep which we engaged while they were getting some food from a goat or cow. They hauled ass. Dunno if the car was in bad shape or not but I fired about 60 rounds fullauto into it with my M249SAW. We went to the NE Airfield because we were quite sure that this was where they would go now. We came there with our ATV and Motocycle and got shot at. I ended up killing two of them with my M249SAW while I broke another one's legs and he got eaten by Zombies. Then one of them managed to kill my buddy but I finished this one off too. Gave me a nice DMR. There was still another one hauling ass or at least hiding somewhere I think. But I went back to our vehicles asap after I picked up the DMR and some other stuff. Hell, I even left the big CoyoteBackpack on my dead buddy. Didn't want to take risk. The point is that these guys put up a fight and manned up. None of them disconnected to save their asses like most pussies do and they gave me some nice loot. I really can't imagine that they're responsible and don't deserve your accusation. Anyways, I saw something like this coming anyway since the Admin made a total 180° with the server settings, so I left. Seems like I lucked out there :P
  5. First I'll start off with some basic information. -System Specs- OS: Windows Vista 64bit Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz Memory: 4094MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 -Display- Device: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip Type: GeForce 9600 GT DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC Approximate Total Memory: 2287 MB Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor --- Okay, so now a description of my problem. Today I purchased the ARMA II: Combined Operations Pack on Steam. It downloaded and installed without issues, although it did pause for a good hour when I decided to play L4D2 but I doubt that caused any issues. Everything worked well. I wanted to get the DayZ mod so I could play with some friends, and it looked like a lot of fun. I've always been a big fan of survival games. So after launching ARMA II, I went to launch Operation Arrowhead. I had some difficulty with that, some sort of strange errors. A quick Google helped me fix it by exiting out of Steam, and then re-launching Steam as Administrator. Now that I had, at that point, successfully launched both titles to their respective main-menus, I came onto the main website (as in, this one we're on now) and it gave me tons of different options to download. I had no clue which one, so I chose the SixUpdater US Mirror. I got the SixUpdater/Launcher set-up without problems. I checked to ensure the DayZ files and folders were all placed in their correct locations, and then I set a path to the mod by going to my Library on Steam, right-clicking Operation Arrowhead, Properties, and then set it to something like -mod@DayZ -nosplash or along those lines, I forget exactly what it was at this point and I'm too lazy to go check. I managed to find some servers with good pings and joined. A loading screen followed, with a picture of military vehicles lined up in front of some airfield hangars. However, I was already having some concerns. The loading bar reached about a quarter of the way, then zipped back down to zero and started back up again. After that finished in around 15 seconds, another screen popped up giving me three options. I believe the first one was Server Control, the second Disconnect, and the third being O.K. I clicked the O.K. button and a progress bar of some sort popped up, having to do with missions I think. Can't be sure, I didn't get a chance to read it all. That same screen popped up, with the military vehicles and loading bar, and then suddenly another loading screen appeared that was all black, and in the center was a completely filled progress bar with "Loading" beneath it. Five minutes later, nothing happened. Another five minutes passed and still nothing happened. Since then I've attempted to connect to many different servers in both the SixLauncher (which has been set-up correctly with the folder paths and everything, as well as verified and running on the most recent version) and also I tried doing it through Operation Arrowhead. Basically, I went back to my Steam Library, right-clicked, and chose Launch ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead. ANOTHER strange thing happened. The first thing that appeared was that same damn loading screen with the military vehicles and airplane hangars. It read "Please wait..." or something along those lines. That finished, and I was at the main-menu, but I'd never experienced that before. Anyways, I went to multiplayer, filtered out non-DayZ servers and tried connecting that way to no avail. The only problem I've been experiencing is that just before I'm in the game, it just freezes on that last, blank loading screen. Please help. I would just like to play. D:
  6. Hello, Im looking to start a little group of bandits that want to get things done. By get things done, I mean get vehicles, set up bases, raids, and get the best gear possible. Im looking for around 4-5 people. If you are intersted, please reply to this thread or add me on steam or skype. This is going to be a USA/Canada based group. Thanks for reading, and hope to talk to you soon. Steam: vinchenzo004 Skype: anthony_rayd

    Carry player with broken legs...

I'm not sure about loading them into vehicles. I honestly never tried it in the original Arma. In the Arma training theres a section about carrying/dragging/medics ect. But nothing about putting them in vehicles :(
  8. Restarting server because of a few people saying their tents/vehicles disappeared. Hoping the restart will fix this issue. Unless its bugged from 1.7.2. Will be back up in a few seconds.
  9. Hey guys. First off, Im not bitching for my camp being raided/attacked. I just want to sharea sad story. =( Me and my group have built up a great camp for days. We managed to get 4 vehicles and a lot of stuff. Saddly we was attacked while everybody was offline. But what made me sad wasn't the fact that we lost most of our stuff, that we spent more than 2 weeks gathering. What is really awful is the disrespect of the bandits who did it. I just got online and saw how the f*cked up we were, and when I switched my map on, I just saw map markers(don't know the exact name) saying where the camp was and some words like: "DEAD BUS FUCKERS" , "DEAD BOAT FUCKERS", not to mention some other. Finally, if they or he, or whoever just looted, destroyed everything, it would be ok, we can get all the stuff back with a little work. But why the fuck do such a thing? Call us fuckers? Mark our base on map? I don't even kill players, Im peaceful, with who is peaceful to me. I think I should stop being a survivor and become a bandit, at least I will have what is deserved. Because this game is turning into a big fucking Deathmatch Arena, where players fuck others up for nothing. Sorry for anything, guys. Just need to put it out. And please, don't do such a thing. If you rob someones camp, be respectful, they can get their stuff back anyway, no need to be such a duche.
  10. Kharne

    Disrespect in-game sucks.

Yeah man, I mean destroying your vehicles and flattening your tents is fine. But that stuff on the map is a bit over the top. Like everyone said, no attachment and just learn from your mistakes (if you can name any). Space your loot out, don't keep all your eggs in one nest, reduces the chances of all your stash being taken/destroyed. I have killing in-game, but there are those rare moments that teaming up is very rewarding. This is one of them moments, you lived an excellent life, now time to rebuild. Think it as the GFC. Global Fuckwit Convention. You'll live.
  11. gravitytr1

    Props to Williams

Yup, I'm glad there are real gamers in our midst. We also got people in our clan who stole our vehicles lol
  12. vision1776

    Cropduster?

    Add more vehicles... period.
  13. BUGS : Zombies Attacking through walls Flip over vehicles Running through windows/buildings and falling to death. ADD : Forest Branch snapping idea. Headlamps and Batteries for Electrical Devices Build-able Metal Walls (requires Scrap Metal and Chopped Wood. )
  14. Choose the top three things you desperately want to be fixed, and three things you really want added. My three bugs: 1. Log off exploits. 2. The various duping exploits. 3. Helicopter permanently leaking fuel bug. My three features: 1. Even more vehicles around! Respawning vehicles! Vehicles are fun. 2. Survival made far harder; environment effects and zombies ramped up. 3. More base building stuff.

L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme

For a game that isn't supposed to have balancing, Rocket sure loves buffing snipers. It isn't about balance, it's simply about facing a sniper being such a binary system. People open up with "well if you are fighting a sniper" You don't fight a sniper, you don't see one, you can't plan for one, and you can't find one. You die, one shot, every time, while they sit up somewhere in perfect safety. They can log in and shoot you, log out and find another server, rinse and repeat. They don't have to worry about missing, or pulling zombies, and they're completely self-sufficient, whereas the survivor can't do so much as cough without dying. If there is a sniper, you are dead and they are perfectly safe. The only way to "outplay" a sniper is to simply never go near any form of civilization, and I can play THE ARMORY for that. I've been saying for years that snipers ruin FPS games, and at the end of the day my argument has been proven right every time. Games with them become all about sniper warfare. It's impossible to force people into a middle ground unless it's constant close quarters (ala Call of Duty) or there are vehicles (Battlefield) and even then, mass snipers becomes a chronic problem. (Strike at Kharkand, bridges down, line of 30 snipers) Get rid of scopes, ditch the NVGs, and watch DayZ become fun again. That's not balancing, that's a gameplay shift. If someone kills with an Enfield, rock on dude, but an AS50 as 800m? Why? If long range sniping and killing people without fear of being shot at is what you want, there's Sniper: Ghost Warrior for that. It's time the sniper rifle left the FPS, and if DayZ is going to become the WoW of FPS games (talking about popularity/everyone comparing to it) then this is vital to gameplay. Think about it: If Rogues could one shot kill everyone at long range and be able to vanish easily, would anyone on WoW play a Paladin?

ITT: OP drives like an bloody idiot and complains about vehicles breaking too easily afterwards

    Vehicles break too easily

Vehicles are too weak, I've driven literally tens of thousands of miles on Dirt Bikes and ATV's and those things are pretty fucking tough, on Dayz they are a joke, driving through a waist high bush breaks the dirtbikes.... Rocket needs to watch Topgear and see how tough a Hillux really is! LOL

    Chicago 29???

I have lost tents and vehicles in multiple area lately, the server went down and many tents disappeared. What is going on? its been 2 days since they vanished. Are they gone for good or does the server need a reboot?

    Vehicles break too easily

you bumped into a ton of stuff. these aren't military vehicles, they break easily just as in real life.
  22. VLG Castiel

    Carry player with broken legs...

Can drag a player if they're unconscious and even load them into vehicles, pretty neat feature. +1 for being able to carry people with broken legs as well.
  23. I can't believe they are still fucking with the infected aggro range. Why do we keep going back and forth on this? The only people who bitch about it being easy are the assholes with silenced weapons that don't remember what its like to spawn with a fucking flashlight in banditsville. My experience with the game so far is that if I can last long enough to get a decent weapon, I last for days. When I die, I typically have 3-10 deaths trying to find basic gear or a server that isn't just picked totally clean and trapped all up. With more difficult zombies, fucking "bear traps" (begin rant =1 seriously who the fuck asked for this? how retarded would it be to try to trap an animal with this instead of just putting a bullet into it? why mention that in the patch notes. Lets call a spade a spade here its so that people with gear and shit can put them at the top of ladders and entrances. Just one more way for us to fuck each other over, like we are short of those.) I would like to see the team focus on things that ruin the fun, like shit disappearing from my bag, bugs that cause me to die, or lose all my gear that I spent HOURS for. I love the fear of bandits and zombies I get that, the fear of the game fucking up my shit is the only thing that takes away from my desire to play. I do appreciate the effort to curb vehicle hording. I've played for months now and can still count on one hand the number of vehicles I've actually seen where they spawn. I love the game and I know its in development, so please, fucking spare me the "alpha" comments. I just want it to be even better than it is.

http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles You just have to look around in the area that it tells you, vehicles are rare tho so dont get your hopes up

L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme

I really don't understand the debate. If the L85 is a powerful tool for survival, get one. Find one at a helicopter crash or find someone who has one and chew their windpipe out with your teeth and the take the goddamn thing while they choke on their own bloody vomit. What's the problem? I don't understand why it's taking so long for you people to come around to the notion that maybe this game isn't meant to be perfectly well-balanced in favor of all possible styles of play, items, load-outs, team configurations, and dietary needs. Certain combinations of certain weapons are going to confer a strategic advantage over your opponents. Long-ranged weapons will allow you to attack from long range. Camouflage equipment will permit you to camouflage yourself. Vehicles permit travel at rates far greater than foot. And, yes, maybe having someone in your group of friends (you do have friends in the game by now, right? You're not engaging in a discussion about high-end weaponry when you haven't even taken the step of making a couple friends in the game to watch your back, right?) who carries an L85 maybe might be a good goddamn idea. Maybe even required for long term, consistent success? Maybe that's okay? Maybe it's not so bad that you need to get off your lazy asses and get the fuck out there and find one if you think it's so important and critical to your success in the game. "Oh, no. It's really powerful. Better take it out." Like, okay, if we follow that rationale to it's logical conclusion we're all going to be riding around on fucking unicycles shooting each other with slingshots. The gun is good. Okay. Established. Now go get it and put it to good use, you whimpering lack-wits.
