"BattleEye initialization failed" Fix for clients unable to connect
XAM replied to Codus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
My game is crashing right after the first loading screen with all the vehicles. At "Receiving mission files page" to be exact. Solution? This happened after I manually tried updating. I even restored the old files, and I'm still crashing. -
Stole A Car, Found Something Interesting....
[email protected] replied to UkropyPrivyet's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
East grenade spawns in eastern military vehicles in arma2, guess the same thing can happen in day z. Also, congrats on the server hopping. Not a day goes by when a server hopper attacks me from behind, fails and then d/cs when I return fire. Such scum. -
The most intresting thing to happen in electro, ever.
A9Carlos replied to Soviet Santa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
UK1 is a Hive server if I recall. This operates its own database independent of the main DayZ one and has a great number of changes. The most obvious of which being an abundance of vehicles. -
Please explain the chat channels, i cant say friendly
hulkingunicorn replied to Hiding Zebra's topic in New Player Discussion
Strictly speaking, you can use text chat in vehicles and within 40 meters of another player (direct channel). Those channels also work for voice. -
Oh yes, the rareness of meeting someone outside the few major hotspots makes for very thrilling and tense moments. I have been playing for over a month and my heart still thumps every time I see someone not on TS with me. I play for these moments. My mind has me on edge all the time thinking there is someone over the next hill, behind the next bush...Someone farts to loud on TS and I jump. lol You should join our TS sometime. We have plenty of people who get lost in cherno, electro and Berezino. Yes they are fairly newer to the game but the time it takes to learn your way around the bigger towns on the map seems about right to me. Amen!! Or try gassing up at a little out of the way gas station. ( like the one North of Polana and east of Gorka) Bound to run into others wanting to do the same. Intense fights in the woods around this out of the way gas station happen more then I want when all I want is some gas! To me this is the kinda PvP that adds to the immersion. Seems realistic that people will be fighting over and killing for the right to have gas for the very rare vehicles that work after the zombie apocalypse. Not to mention the gaining of another ride if you win the fire fight!

I wanted to start a thread about something semi-related: Horror elements. When I first read that radio thread, I had chills running down my spine and I was immersed while reading on the forum. I also had similar radio transmissions running in YT to learn a bit more about those types of transmissions and the sounds/voices creeped me the fuck out. #1 immersive game so far for me has been Amnesia: Dark Descent, and I didn't even finish the game because I was too much of a nerve-wreck. Fear of the environment directly immerses the player into the world. I think DayZ has way too little horror in it. I was quite frightened by zeds when I was a noob, but after a few hours/days it all became "meh". I think it was my second or third day playing and it was nighttime--pitch black--and I was lying in the woods close to Rog or Zub castle. I couldn't move a mm because of severe paranoia and fear of roaming zeds and players, and it had more to do with the fear itself of the experience of meeting someone or something you do not wish to meet than it had to do with any kind of gear or whatever, that made me want to survive and stay hidden, safe. I can't stop playing this mod, but only because I constantly try to convince myself I can progress in the game by building myself a base or just being creative and adventurous. But in reality, alpha state considered, I think there should be more focus on atmosphere, all that comes with that, and more sandbox tools (the underground structures for example, or camouflage for vehicles and tents, a bigger and more dynamic world, shovels and a way to stack objects to create walls and structures, etc). I want Rocket to try and make the atmosphere as similar as possible to what is portrayed in the front-page trailer (just rewatched it, I had forgot how awesome it is) while giving as fundamental tools as possible for players to change the world within the game (hello empty plains). I'm a little tired, atm; haven't slept for a day or two, so sorry for any incoherence in my post. I have so many ideas, suggestions and observations about this mod I don't know what to do with my head. I'm just ecstatic about playing with this project that is created and developed by someone who thinks so much like me. Everything Rocket says in interviews and such is so hilariously close to what I want to hear (and I am mindful of the selective hearing phenomenon, lol) that I want to log in for another play-session every time I listened to him, even if I've been playing for nearly a full rotation of the earth.

I vote no on this one. Day Z has it's own variations of quests. Loot sem-dangerous towns. Loot more-dangerous Airbases. Find yourself a tent to gather loot. Find the downed helicopter for the uber loot. Find and repair the vehicles. Join with other players to build camps in safe remote areas. Go hunting for food. Go helping other players. Go Banditing other players. Put a group together and live peacefully in the woods hunting animals. Put a group together and go hunting bandits. Wage war on other groups. Other games have spoiled us by giving us the exact direction you we are going to take in the game, while limiting us from taking much direction of our own. DayZ leaves it wide open. It's not for everybody, But I'm glad Rocket is steadfast to the direction he's taken with this game. I'm don't mean to be rude or one of those guys that tells you to go play WoW, but almost every other game out there provides NPC quests, if that's what you are looking for.

HowTo restet vehiles on server? (server admin)
domistyle replied to rfjack's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The vehicles are saved in the Hive database. There is no way to reset them beside hosting a new server. -
Ever thought about the fact that you are not the only one on the server? Your vehicles could either be stolen or destroyed and your tents could be dismounted (by driving over it with a vehicle e.g.)

... implement a feature that prevents people to DC in combat. I'm not a dedicated player hunter/killer but I don't shy away from PvP, especially around the hot zones. But over the last couple of weeks I've noticed a trend that every single time I engage in PvP my opponents simply DC. When I started playing in early May I had plenty of epic shootouts with other survivors, and greatly enjoyed this aspect of DayZ. As it is right now, PvP is completely borked. I know: Alpha. That's cool, I know that rocket is working hard on this baby. Still: PvP and the player interaction is the very core of this game, and this core at the moment simply doesn't work as intended. I couldn't care less about vehicles, body temperature and bear traps as long as the PvP is just not fun. So pleaaaaase: implement something like a 20-second timer that freezes a player once he DCs from the game. AND a 20 second freeze on entering. Sounds harsh? Well, don't log off/in in the middle of Cherno or in the airfield barracks...

I was wondering. Im playing on DE(Germany) Servers, but i never encountered an Vehicle, not even a Bicyle by the so called spawn points. But i find a lot of car parts to fix a Vehicle. Are they disabled or something, because in the Changelog nothing was written about the vehicles would be disabled <_<

With how easy it is to spot tents and vehicles from a ways off that belong to other players, even when they try to hide them as best they can despite the placement bugs, I was thinking... What about some type of camo netting? Not solid as to completely block your vision of the object, but just something to break up the outlines of the tent? By now, no place on the map is safe for a tent unless you go outside the boundaries and we all know that's not allowed and is completely retarded, but if we had some way of further breaking up a tents outline while placed in cover, our valuables could be a lot more hidden from tent hunters, and other bandits. I don't know how it would work, it would need to be placed around the tent, but I think rocket may have the capacity to do this. Anyone else think of this?

I've had enough dying. So now I kill.
Warhog (DayZ) replied to louist's topic in New Player Discussion
I got murdered two times, while i was playing alone. The 3rd time i already had my buddy in Skype and we wen't surviving together. We wen't to Staroye to the long building and met two other players. I said we are friendly through my Mic, the other guys already had firearms and we only had a hatchet and a crowbar as weapons. First my buddy was shot in a corner, while picking up a water bottle, i saw everything and asked "Why?!", the answer was from the other guy: "Because you are fair" -.- Since them we avoid other players, even if they are unarmed or they even yell friendly, we back up and say "Stay away from us, we don't want any trouble" and go away. Never trust anyone in DayZ, only your close friends on Skype or Teamspeak. OT: Are the Vehicles disabled in DayZ? Because i never say a working vehicle or even one to fix, or all the Vehicles in North kept by Pro Players? Finding Vehicle parts isn't a problem :/ -
I have not died to a zombie or a player for a very long time, probably weeks, all I have been dying to is simply the fucking server I've lost INFINITE amounts of high tier weapons, vehicles, stats etc to simply fucking logging in and being put at the beach with no shit, no body for my teammates to loot or anything, no option for male/female, just put on the beach with a box of fucking painkillers. This is really annoying. /endrant.

Definition of the word ENDGAME
Jack Dant replied to Delta Smoke 01's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't really like the word endgame either, but please explain the difference between DayZ and an instanced MMO. What DayZ needs is not endgame in the WoW sense. People playing the game as if it was WoW with the sole purpose of getting "rare weaponz" won't ever be satisfied with the sandbox. The closest thing to good "endgame" we have now is vehicles. You find them, you repair them (usually in a group), they get stolen the next day, then you steal them back, and so on and on. Something like that, but played over weeks instead of hours is what we need. Something you can do over and over but it's never the same (this requires a PVP factor to it, because AI is always the same). -
Definition of the word ENDGAME
Drblodski replied to Delta Smoke 01's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In the Arma world it is very easy for the devs to add little new things here and there and nuance what is already there. They can do it without too much testing - like for example moving some of the vehicles spawns to new locations. The could lower the spawn rates on the crashed helis and barracks say and introduce a 6 man AI spec op team that arrives by patrol boat once every 2 hours or so and makes its way to a military location across the land (random destination each time). This would be a danger to survivors if the AI were set to shoot anything. They might succumb to zed themselves. It would provide some more lootable weaponry. It would give the endgamers something new to do. This is a lame example above but I reckon the devs are well aware that in one of the next updates they should add a new dynamic to give old timers something new to do (worry about) ;) This idea doesnt even include new content like mini missions or quests. That would be fun. As long as nothing is forced on you i say its all good. -
No, if anything it need to be much bigger, I think to support the game beyond a few weeks play it needs to be at least 4x the size. You forget that when you've been everywhere, have or have had camps in each area of the map, and have a clan with several vehicles... the map suddenly seems very small indeed.

Yeah, I know how bad the cartel situation in Mexico is, even on the other side of the world it makes headlines here... What I'm wondering is why on earth it's offensive to link to a google images link for "narco tanks"?That's a question directed at RoboSheriff, for being the one claiming offense.... P.S. home-made armoured vehicles fit perfectly with a zombie apocalypse, so +1 for the OP ;)

URGENT: Two flying choppers?!!!?
IReaperI replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Read the DayZ wiki. UH-1H Huey helicopters can be obtained occasionally from Airfields or from roofs of hospitals. There are 3 Helicopters hidden somewhere on every server. On low-populated server you'll most probably find one at it's original spawn location, waiting for repair. On a high-popluated server those might have been already taken and people often hide their best stuff on the bounds of the map, if those are vehicles, If you search for campsites and camping tents with a load of goodness you might want to check places far away from civilization. -
-game purchase only -studio developed with some community input (too much and it will ruin the game) -both community and studio servers (although studio servers shouldn't really be necessary) -i'd donate a little if you did a kickstarter thing (yes to kickstarter) -also, later down the road, you could do 1 or 2 DLC's with a new map for each plus different vehicles and/or guns. $15-20 (USD) would be a fair price for each

This game won't be popular at release
drewmaw replied to mkrrr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LOL I like how the late game activity is merely injecting another person's successful game... Minecraft. Another question, why would building an underground bunker be fun? So you can sit around with all your awesome gear and just masturbate to it? No, your going to use it like how people use tents and vehicles, you store your shit, then you go kill people... This is a horrible end game idea. I'm starting to think Rocket is a one hit wonder. I agree with OP, me and my mates are already starting to get bored. In fact, we're already looking forward to other mods in ARMA. Better ones than this already exist. Surely someone else can make a better DayZ mod. -
Hello, I was thinking if you guys can set the terraingrid to 45 or 50 atleast to help some players to reduce some of the lag and also set the scenecomplexity to a setting that doesn't lag. Also keep the view distance where it is at 1600 because people with a more powerful system can have a massive advantage over a player that doesn't have a powerful PC to handle a great deal of view distances. I also REALLY REALLY want to see the Food & Water hunger to happen alot later than way to soon atleast base it in real time like atleast every 2 - 3 hours they will be hungry or thirsty. Before anything you should be thirsty before you go hungry. Hunger should happen maybe at 3 hours and being thirsty would happen at 2 hours but base it in real life like depending on outside temperature and such. I also want to see something to where the owner of a backpack to be able to lock so no outsider can just grab stuff out of their backpack. I also would want to see a option to be able to lock your Cargo box or gear box in your vehicles so the passengers can't go grabbing stuff out of the cars when they are inside of it in case if some undesirable enters your vehicle.

lol @ the trolls commenting here putting down the server owner If you think the 3 vehicles are suspicious and you have not seen them on the server before you as a server admin/owner have the right to KICK but not ban (until you have proof of hacking). The rules state that you can kick but to a limit, this seems like a legit kick. Btw, did they come right back or just leave forever?

A few days after I got dayz I found an ATV. Not knowing anything about vehicles in Arma II, I drove all over the place. Then my atv shoots 30 feet in the air and does 5 backflips and I land ontop of myself and break my bones. Zombies were all over me and I crawled to a gas satation to die due to lack of bandages and morphine.

:) well it isnt is it really, to be honest i think a better word would be sensitive. Seen a couple of threads go off topic on sensitive issues. But yea i think it would be kinda cool, especially if shooting from vehicles is introduced as ive seen petetioned for before on the forums. Also provides good protection for small groups in a server with other established settlements.
