So, I've seen this thread called Vehicles Guide on the New player section and noticed that there were 2 helis shown in that thread that I never seen in game before, Mi-17 and the Littlebird. Anyways, my suggestion is, whenever the helis are going to be fixed, I reckon you should change the Hueys with Mi-17s, as it is a civilian version and would be more realistic to find it in Chernarus, instead of Hueys. And it wouldn't be that much powerful, what I mean is no, weapons stuck to it. Only transport and scouting areas, etc.

It's amazing how you guys hit the barracks enough to find 3 m107s but not one AT4. You can put them in your backpack you know :) Nice video, I've always thought it would be funny to donate vehicles to people on the shore.

Looking for people to join our small team

I play on Bretts server (GB#00 multiplay bretts server), we use skype. Edit: pretty full on people now! Will update if someone quits The server owner Brett also plays with us. We all know the map inside out. We have our own vehicles and camp. We are all from the UK. -
I like to carry around a Jerry Can of gas in case I run into any vehicles that are operational but out of gas. I also like having a smoke gredade they're great for surviving a sniper if you've got one shooting at you.

World too big for own good?
replied to Necrofix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed. Double would be awesome (and when I say double, I really mean quadruple area, as in: double the height and double the width of the map). It wouldn't need twice as many towns: You could just keep as many as there are now, but double the size of towns (even the "large" cherno and elektro are pitifully small, relative to real cities), and also double the space between them. This way, it would feel more real, vehicles would be more important, cities could have more personality, and you could flesh out the wilderness (hostile animals, foraging, etc). This is even more crucial. Imagine a 50-player server. If one in every two players has a tent, that's 25 tents that have to be hidden. But of course, a server's playerbase is not just the ones that are currently connected, as the time players access change a lot. Each server might have 200, 300 regulars. How do you hide 100 camps in a map this size? I think player interaction is just right, at the moment. If you want to keep away from others, you can. If you want trouble, you can find it. So double the size of the map (quadruple area) could house double, or up to four times as many, players. 200 players on a 900km² map? Yes, please. -
How to end Ganking, and support Honor [ v ]
DreamDragon replied to Arainasc's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
May I add something to this post that might shed some light about the experience of the victims of these violent players? Before I begin: I want to make it clear that I understands that this game isn't about PvP vs PvE, it's about the gamer, how he or she struggles to survive and to resist anyone making an attempt on your life. This mod isn't about punishing ANYONE because of their way of playing the game and conducting themselves in the world. The mod is about having players to decide how their experience should be and how they might want to impact the experiences of others. The events: This happened about five days ago. I had died many times, new player, by the hands of the infected population in Elektrozavodsk and Chernogorsk. But it wasn't hard for me to quickly grasp the basics of staying undetected from the infected. About then the first time I saw another player I was freshly spawned close by Elektrozavodsk, the player where running towards a office building. I was jolted, more aware of my surroundings as I moved closer to call out to that player - to ask for help of him. I was new so I thought that most players would not attack, therefore this player would perhaps be a member of that perceived larger group of kind players. So I darted between the houses into the alleyways so I could get close to the office building, protected by the shadows and walls to stop any bullets. I heard him shuffling about inside. I, for a short moment, hesitated to move into the building. I started to doubt my initial thought that just this player would be one of the good ones that doesn't shoot right away when they see anybody else. Then from the other side of the courtyard I saw moments behind a wall. It was another player, also newly spawned and unarmed as I was. That player didn't move as carefully as I did but instead he darted inside the office building to loot. I saw then a head popping up above the low wall on the balcony, looking down and around trying to detect that careful player. I retraced my steps so to conceal myself better. The first player moved into the building, raised AKM. I understood then that if he was a good player he would perhaps of called out "friendly" but he didn't so perhaps he was after easy loot. I remained reluctantly silent. Then the unarmed player, I'm quite sure of it, yelled out "Friendly! I'm Friendly! Don't kill me!" but was only greeted by two shots. I stayed hidden until the office building was empty. I did have a look on the shot player to see if he had anything on him, and he did: starting gear. That armed player killed for fun, as I see it. Scum. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This did happen about two days ago. I had survived for about two hours and found a V3S-truck at Stary Sobor filled with guns, ammunition, bandages, gadgets, food etc. I was ecstatic! I felt like I couldn't be touched by anyone. So, like the dumb moron I am, I started honking the horn. Loved it! I speed off to Novy Sobor, honking and behaving like I've lost it. I stayed at Novy Sobor to fill the tank to full. Rammed many infected without a second thought, one, a police infected officer, managed, somehow, to climb up on the floe of the truck. Didn't matter - couldn't touch me *Nana-nanana*. And as I neared Elektrozavodsk, still honking madly, I had this brilliant flash "hey why not just speeding through the town honking and attracting attention to show off >MY< V3S!? Brilliant"! Admitting that this is a stupid idea because many players will attack you without hesitation. They will unload everything if they got a change; I've even seen players throwing two or three grenades to kill just one poor unarmed player for the fun of it. But still I thought that they would avoid harming the V3S because vehicles are rare and valuable. So I entered Elektrozavodsk, early morning it was, with full speed. I drove down the street of the northern residential area, knowing that I would be driving extremely close to the office building and the grocery store and that was dangerous. And just as the front of the truck would get in height of the grocery stores gates, hell was set loose on the truck! From both sides and straight forward from the office building I was being assaulted with heavy fire. Suddenly I was knocked unconscious and could just barely see a wall approaching fast - the truck crashed to a sudden halt. Then suddenly a explosion destroyed the car and the players were laughing and screaming to each others. They killed for fun one could shortly explain it all. Of course I was being stupid but they attacked to gain another kill on their list, if they wanted the weapons they could of shot out the tires and killing me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one happened today. I saw a player close to Chernogorsk, whom did run away from me in fear - he was killed very shortly by two lowly campers that held the hospital under strict surveillance. All because he was afraid that I was going to kill him, as he surely must of been killed less then ten minutes before we saw each others and didn't wish that to happen again. I turned around towards the bar close to the church, crouching as I moved through the town. Often the silence was shattered by short bursts of gunfire and in correlation a kill-message would be announced - every time. The gunfire was very rarely answered, in short it was newly spawned players being killed for fun. I arraived at the church and entered it. Looted everything of value to me and was about the exit when I heard gunfire really close by. I backed into the church, hid and listened for movements. I could hear the players talking. They where discussing what they was going to do next. The other said that it was funny to kill players just for the fun of it and, of course, because of that little extra thrill you feel just before the shot. Therefore they should move to the hospital again becuase of the numbers of players visiting that place, the other claimed that the firestation should be guarded in search for easy kills. But before that they should search inside the church. I was unarmed, so you can understand me being nervours and scared. So before they could move I called out, stupid I know but I was trapped. I clearly stated that I was friendly many times, I even offered them something in return for sparing my life. They didn't even answer me but moved towards the gates of the church, so I threw a gas grenade. Obscuring the entrence I was going to make a dash for it! Yelling "I'm firendly please don't shot" I runned towards the opening just to be knocked down on my stomache by one single shot to the leg. It was broken. I stoped my bleeding - they stoped the shooting. They, somehow, did see that I was not armed. Instead they was mocking me and following me as I crawled down towards the hospital. They said that they felt sorry but couldn't help me because I where not their friend and other ridiculous claims. But they could at least guard me apparently because they killed all infected untill I got to the hospital. At the hospital they threw a road flare and shot two-three bullets to attract infected. Then they ran into the residential house right across the hospital. Laughing of course they sat there and did nothing as I was being consumed by the infected. I managed to ask them "why" and did receive the irritating answer "becuse it's fun". --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basically this game is runned by, sorry, a** h**** that can't find anything better to do then killing unarmed players and players that's declaring themselves as friendly. Of course I understand that this is the part of the game that players are being killed despite that they're declaring themselves friendly. But it isn't fun to be the victim of a few very well armed players with the patient to camp for hours in any given location, I've been killed in the middle of the forest so there's is no place to hide from them. It isnt't fun when the game quickly boils down to PvP and camping as the main events of the game. Of course this mod are in alpha stage and we surely will see more to do but now it's ridiculous that you can predict EXACTLY where to find a camper. It's ridiculous that they rather shoot then engage in some kind of diplomacy or bargaining with other players to further expand the experience and depth of the game. The lack of motivations to act in a more diverse behaviourism then only shooting are of course the main reason behind this narrow behaviour. -
This is something I thought about while me and my friends took in some vehicles to our base: 1. Making vehicles "hideable" under camo blankets/nets that would atleast add some sort of cover for them. Currently you can drive them into the pinetrees, sure, but that doesn't quite help with a big bus, Ural or any other "shiny" vehicle in the game 2. Paint. Adding paint for vehicles, like busses, Urals, off-road and other ones as well. this goes together with the above, but atleast it would make it possible for people to make it harder for others to see said vehicle. ofc, green and camo would probably be the rarest and hardest to find. 3. Keys & lockpicks. Would be an interesting addition to the game. If you find a vehicle ingame spawned, they ought to have keys in them since you're driving them (ofc, could be wired as well...) and as you exit the car, you could have the option to lock/unlock it so that other people would need to lockpick (say 10-20sec to get it unlocked) it before being able to get the "spare" keys inside and drive off with them. Lockpicks would, in that case, be about as rare as the toolbox, to make it a sought for item. Ofc, another way would be the need to have lockpick before you at all could get inside the vehicle. This would make lockpicks even more sought for items, and not all the vehicles would be hoarded as fast as they currently are. 4. Just came to think of it, but lockpicks could be used for locked buildings as well (who would leave a door unlocked in the zombie mayhem, if you are holing up in it?) just thought that it would add some more realism into the game

So, we (not everyone from our group, excluding me) decided to start over, basically respawn on the coast, with no gear. Before that, our Ural got stolen, so we decided to just get rid off our cars and start over anyways, because it was starting to get boring, because we had around 12 vehicles, amazing gear, NVGs, GPSs, Rangefinders, M107s/AS50s, M4 SDs, M9SDs, etc. So here's a clip showing, few of my groupies destroying all the vehicles we had. Short clip, hope you like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD7onKZTaA4

Hey there survivor people of Chernarus, here, are some helpfull tips to start you off on the right track! PLEASE remember this is MY way of playing, and i think it is a fair way to play, and these tips always work for me :) So please don't hate. If anything, suggest more useful tips to me and i will add them in, or if you feel one is incorrect or misleading, please approach me in a appropriate mannor :) Thanks and i hope these help! :) 1) Don't trust nobody. Infact if they have a weapon, and you do, kill them before they kill you, but only if YOU feel like they are a threat, You should watch them a little, make sure they are not tailing you, and if they are, take them out before they take you out( Thanks Bitey! ). ( Thats how i feel and it works just fine. ) 2) Choose your routes wisely, i don't suggest just wandering all around in the cities ( Elektro, Cherno ), keep to the outside looting areas ( Cherno: Apartment block, hospital, military tents, i always find an AK there, and also some of the little wooden shacks good for any civilian goods. Elektro: The 2 firehouses, excellent place to maybe find a decent fire arm early on :), the grocery store, and also little houses on the outside good for civilian loot. Some are enterbale some are not. ) These routes always start me off on a good track, if i go into the city's i'm normally killed unarmed by some asshole. 3) NEVER SWIM...Unless you REALLY have too. ( If you swim, you will loose your backpack AND your primary weapon.. ) 4) Always try to find a compass or a map. I preferably like the compass alot better, because not all servers will show you were you are on the map. ( I think it should stay that way, for more realism :) ) 5) Hunting: Things you will need; Hunting knife, Hatchet, Matches and a poor hopeless animal. First off you will need to execute the animal, a cow will offer around 8 Raw meat slices, a Lamb around 5, and the others i am not sure off :o. After that you will need to gut the animal with your Hunting Knife ( Right click on it inside inv and select Gut animal ). After that collect the meat slices and get to the closest tree/forest. Now you will need to right click on your hatchet next to a tree and select Harvest Wood ( You can also find wood piles from loot areas. ). Now that your wood is in your inventory, make sure the area around you is safe from players, because the fire will also acumulate some smoke. Now you want to right click on your matches in your inventory and select Make Fireplace. After the animation you will notice a small firepit on the ground, you now need to select it and click on Light Fire. Now all you have to do is select the fire and click on Cook Raw Meat. This will automatically cook all of the raw meat slices in your inventory. When you are finished put out the fireplace by selecting it and pressing Put Out Fire. Now you can either take the wood, or just leave it there. And there you go! You now know how to hunt properly in DayZ :) ( Also: Meat will also add some blood to your blood level, so if you are solo, and have some meat, just fill your face with meat, and you will be back to full blood in no time! :) ) 6) Getting away from multiple zombies. I find the best way to get rid of a lot of zombies, is to run into a building that has 2 entrances, to first let them come in a little, and then just crouch out the back and away from the building. ( You should also try your best to kill zombies with something silent like a silenced weapon or a hatchet. Thanks Zack4209! ). This always works for me, but i only do it when i am low on ammo, or i just simply don't want to fire my weapon in the town/city. 7) Engaging players. If you are in the north, and i'm talking about well populated areas like the Sober's and the NWAF ( North West Airfield ). I would highly suggest taking out ANYONE you see, nobody sits behind the tents in Stary Sober to make friends, they are there to pick off helpless noobs looting the tents. I would suggest checking ALL the treelines around Stary before going for the tents. Try not to panic if you see a player, when you see a player, you will be scared and it is heart racing. But you can not just fire away at him, you need to make sure you have a good angle on him, and when you have a sure-shot location take him/her out! Also make sure you add a couple more bullets to him, just to make sure you kill him ( Because we all know there are all the faggot alt-F4ers out there who can't take a death like a man.. ). It is the same in the NWAF, make sure there is nobody around in the hangers, barracks, treelines or anywhere. The NWAF is very dangerous, and there is alot of PvP action there! 8) NEVER let your guard down. Always check your corners, and everything around you, try not to run out in open areas, stick to hidden areas like treelines and such. Use the 3RD person to your advantage to look over walls, and see around the corners of buildings, and i would suggest using first-person in combat situations so you don't have trouble aiming. You are safe no where, you don't know were anyone could be, so be careful out there. 9) Flares and Smokes. Flares will attract zombies at night, they are a good way to lead them away from the location you are trying to get to, but you also have to remember, that flare will light you the HELL up and around the place you are in, this is what bandits look for, just so they can snipe you and loot your gear. Smokes are good for daytime to attract zombies, but they are also good to get out of sticky situations, like being cornered in a hanger at the NWAF by a sniper in the treeline, you can easily throw a couple of smokes in the front and run around the back away from the snipers line of sight. Be careful with the smokes though, because they sometimes agro zeds towards you for some reason :/. 10) Crashed Heli sites. A crashed heli site is self explanatory.. but it also has some of the best and rarest gear in the game! Things like the M107, AS50, NVG, L85A2 AWS and alot more! Approaching the crash site is the hardest part, you need to make sure there is no one around or that nobody is watching you. there can also be around 10 Zombies to spawn, so make sure you get alot of headshots so you're not being chased around! ( Thanks Fraggle: Use smoke grenades to draw the zombies away from the Heli, and then you can make your move! ) Most of the time, it will be looted sadly ); But if you get lucky you might find yourself the gun of your dreams! 11) Bleeding, Shaking, Coughing, Blood bags, Epi-Pens ad morphine. When you are bleeding you need to apply a bandage ASAP, you can tell when you are beeding by either seeing a stream of blood coming out of your body or see a (+) sign on your blood metre ( The drop on the bottom right above your hunger level. ) this will stop the bleeding and you can then either receive blood transfusion from another player, or nom on some meat! Shaking, If you are in first person and notice some vigerous shaking, you need to take some painkillers, they are not hard to find and you will also spawn with one set of them! Coughing, I am not sure what coughing meens for sure, but i'm pretty sure it means you are sick, and you will need to take some Anti-Biotics otherwise you will soon slowly start to loose blood. Blood Bags, Blood bags are for giving blood transfusions to other players, or you can give them one, to transfer blood to you. This will fully restore your blood! Epi-Pens, Epi-Pens are vital in a firefight, these will need to be applied to knocked out players and it will give them the ability to get back up with out having to wait for the timer to go down.Morphine. Morphine is used to fix broken legs, to either yourself or others, make sure you have alot of these, because this game is still buggy, and leg braking can occur at the randomest times, to see if you legs broke, you will see a Snapped leg on the side of your HUD on the right. You can only crawl with a broken leg but you can crouch if you stay still. 12) Looting. Their are 4 different kinds of loot; Military, Industrial, Residential, Farm. Military are high tier areas to find good Tier 2 weapons like the M24 sniper rifle, AK/74u/74/M and various other rifles. Industrial is mainly to find parts and gasoline for vehicles, things like; Engine parts, Scrap Metal, Jerry Cans, Car wheels and more. Residential looting areas are in towns and cities, they hold all of the basic necessities like food, drinks, hunting gear, pistols ( M1911, Makarov, Revolver. ) and some rifles/shotgun ( Lee Enfield, Winchester, Double-Barrel Shotgun ). Farm areas are good to find some low tier rifles like the Lee enfield and the Winchester, but also can spawn a CZ 550 hunting sniper rifle, Jerry Cans, Crossbow and now Bear Traps. -This is also kind of related to tip N.2 This is my favourite video for a awesome loot guide for Elektro, Made by Sacriel42. Link: http://tinyurl.com/75pmmtj Chernarus map ( DayZ ) With all loot locations! Link: http://tinyurl.com/cl8jz5e 13) Weapons; Whats good, and whats not. All weapons in DayZ are awesome, Why? Because they kill shit! But there are some things that can change in the guns that can make a big difference wether you are fightin zombies or players, things like Sound, Range, Spread, Recoil. A good example is the M107 and the AS50 both are rare and tier 3 sniper rifles, both with the same power, but I prefer the AS50 because it is so so so quiet to players, the recoil is very small, and the Zeroing is alot further. Same with the DMR and the M24, The M24 is alot more accurate and has a farther zeroing range, Yet the DMR is stationary at 400M and is better for closer range, but also has a magazine of 20 rounds, while the M24 is 5 per clip. Pistols also have a big difference, The Magnum is a 1 hit kill but same with the M1911, The M1911 has a 7 round mag, yet the magnum has a 6, and they both have reversable ammo to fit either pistol ( Right click on either M1911 Mag or .45 ACP ammo to exchange either way. ). Next is the Lee Enfield and the Winchester 1866, They are both good starter weapons, some people prefer the Enfield some people prefer the Winchester, I myself prefer the Enfield, The ammo is alot more common and it is also a one hit kill at almost any range ( Zombies are, Not too sure about players, but when i get a kill with the Enfield it is mostly one shot with it. ) The Winchester has a spread because of it's use of slugs, which makes it a low-medium range for one hit kills. And i find the ammo is alot more rare for some reason :o. Please comment if you want to know about more weapons! 14) A friend. Someone you need, someone who will be there for you, this is the best thing you can have in DayZ. Playing solo is fun and all, trying your best to rely on yourself, instead of feeling like you need someone with you to take care of yourself. But having a friend is very handy, They can spot for you, help you when you are bleeding/passed out/low on blood. I think the best part is that they can watch your back, while you take out that bandit over there. Please comment if you found this usefull, if you think i should change soemthing, or if you think i am wrong at some parts. But please ask me nicely to change otherwise i will just ignore you. Sorry if their are other posts like this, i just felt like helping out the DayZ community! See you around! DayZ Commander. And all servers have vehicles.
-
Hi, I have a question, that I have been unable to find an answer. We're renting a server from MultiPlay, that they finally just now, managed to get up and running with fridays patches. Or.. at least thats what they say. The server browser tells us its 1.61.94878 of Arma II OE. But there's no way to tell which version of DayZ it is afaik. MultiPlays own system says its 1.7.2, which also the server name reflect, but their customer support just says that their naming template haven't been updated. But I'm not too enterily convinced since they need 2 days just to apply a simple patch. Is there a way to actually tell what version any given server is running? Is there an ingame command or something? Oh and another question, should all current servers have vehicles, or must one turn on some tags in server config?

After five days of playing this, I have determined that DayZ is a marathon simulator.
Ssgt_Perez replied to wildstars's topic in New Player Discussion
Having to run everywhere in this game has made me appreciate the in-game vehicles more than any other game. The first time I started an engine in DayZ I felt more excited than the first time I drove a car in real life. Sad as that sounds. -
Nice, I went back there a little bit ago and it looks like sweet justice has been served. All the tents were flattened expect three and there was only a working tractor left. All other vehicles were shot to shit or gone. I took the tractor and flattened the last three tents and rode out. :)

More weapons, vehicles and not full clips ahhh and Mi-8 crashsite
borntobewild posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see more weapons from arma 2 in beta or full ver of the mod. More civilian vehicles would be nice too. And you can add not full clips like in Eagle Wing campaign. Ahh and there is Mi-8 wreck model so it could be eastern counterpart for western UH-1Y crashsite and it could spawn eastern weapons. PS:I know it's alpha..:) -

My game is crashing right after the first loading screen with all the vehicles. At "Receiving mission files page" to be exact. Solution? This happened after I manually tried updating. I even restored the old files, and I'm still crashing. -
Stole A Car, Found Something Interesting....

East grenade spawns in eastern military vehicles in arma2, guess the same thing can happen in day z. Also, congrats on the server hopping. Not a day goes by when a server hopper attacks me from behind, fails and then d/cs when I return fire. Such scum. -
The most intresting thing to happen in electro, ever.
A9Carlos replied to Soviet Santa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
UK1 is a Hive server if I recall. This operates its own database independent of the main DayZ one and has a great number of changes. The most obvious of which being an abundance of vehicles. -
Please explain the chat channels, i cant say friendly
hulkingunicorn replied to Hiding Zebra's topic in New Player Discussion
Strictly speaking, you can use text chat in vehicles and within 40 meters of another player (direct channel). Those channels also work for voice. -
Oh yes, the rareness of meeting someone outside the few major hotspots makes for very thrilling and tense moments. I have been playing for over a month and my heart still thumps every time I see someone not on TS with me. I play for these moments. My mind has me on edge all the time thinking there is someone over the next hill, behind the next bush...Someone farts to loud on TS and I jump. lol You should join our TS sometime. We have plenty of people who get lost in cherno, electro and Berezino. Yes they are fairly newer to the game but the time it takes to learn your way around the bigger towns on the map seems about right to me. Amen!! Or try gassing up at a little out of the way gas station. ( like the one North of Polana and east of Gorka) Bound to run into others wanting to do the same. Intense fights in the woods around this out of the way gas station happen more then I want when all I want is some gas! To me this is the kinda PvP that adds to the immersion. Seems realistic that people will be fighting over and killing for the right to have gas for the very rare vehicles that work after the zombie apocalypse. Not to mention the gaining of another ride if you win the fire fight!

I wanted to start a thread about something semi-related: Horror elements. When I first read that radio thread, I had chills running down my spine and I was immersed while reading on the forum. I also had similar radio transmissions running in YT to learn a bit more about those types of transmissions and the sounds/voices creeped me the fuck out. #1 immersive game so far for me has been Amnesia: Dark Descent, and I didn't even finish the game because I was too much of a nerve-wreck. Fear of the environment directly immerses the player into the world. I think DayZ has way too little horror in it. I was quite frightened by zeds when I was a noob, but after a few hours/days it all became "meh". I think it was my second or third day playing and it was nighttime--pitch black--and I was lying in the woods close to Rog or Zub castle. I couldn't move a mm because of severe paranoia and fear of roaming zeds and players, and it had more to do with the fear itself of the experience of meeting someone or something you do not wish to meet than it had to do with any kind of gear or whatever, that made me want to survive and stay hidden, safe. I can't stop playing this mod, but only because I constantly try to convince myself I can progress in the game by building myself a base or just being creative and adventurous. But in reality, alpha state considered, I think there should be more focus on atmosphere, all that comes with that, and more sandbox tools (the underground structures for example, or camouflage for vehicles and tents, a bigger and more dynamic world, shovels and a way to stack objects to create walls and structures, etc). I want Rocket to try and make the atmosphere as similar as possible to what is portrayed in the front-page trailer (just rewatched it, I had forgot how awesome it is) while giving as fundamental tools as possible for players to change the world within the game (hello empty plains). I'm a little tired, atm; haven't slept for a day or two, so sorry for any incoherence in my post. I have so many ideas, suggestions and observations about this mod I don't know what to do with my head. I'm just ecstatic about playing with this project that is created and developed by someone who thinks so much like me. Everything Rocket says in interviews and such is so hilariously close to what I want to hear (and I am mindful of the selective hearing phenomenon, lol) that I want to log in for another play-session every time I listened to him, even if I've been playing for nearly a full rotation of the earth.

I vote no on this one. Day Z has it's own variations of quests. Loot sem-dangerous towns. Loot more-dangerous Airbases. Find yourself a tent to gather loot. Find the downed helicopter for the uber loot. Find and repair the vehicles. Join with other players to build camps in safe remote areas. Go hunting for food. Go helping other players. Go Banditing other players. Put a group together and live peacefully in the woods hunting animals. Put a group together and go hunting bandits. Wage war on other groups. Other games have spoiled us by giving us the exact direction you we are going to take in the game, while limiting us from taking much direction of our own. DayZ leaves it wide open. It's not for everybody, But I'm glad Rocket is steadfast to the direction he's taken with this game. I'm don't mean to be rude or one of those guys that tells you to go play WoW, but almost every other game out there provides NPC quests, if that's what you are looking for.

Hello there! Me and a friend were playing the other night and we thought of a couple of ideas.... 1. Camo nets Use to cover vehicles which then camouflages the vehicle. Useful when obtaining those red and shiny 1970s cars you see in game... Would adding this feature make it too hard to find the vehicles? I do not believe so simply because if you see a car-shape or a huge bus in the words, regardless or what color it is it does stick out.. However this is just an idea... any feedback is useful. 2. Spray paint & [rare item: camo Stencil] This can be used to leave messages for other survivors such as directions on trees, city walls and if the stencils are found patterns can be used. This has some blatant issues, as users may leave rude or abusive messages on walls, if spammed it would reduce performance (Therefore it might be an able to have sprays disappear after 2 days? due to things like rain, writing over or simply wiped clean (Ink wouldn't be that GREAT!). 3. Helmets [Helicopter crash site] Seeing as how the downed helicopter pilot zombies have helmets why can't we? and perhaps some variants such as a camo version to match the camo skin.. Just a thought. :) 4. Safeboxes This boxes are locked using keys and can be hidden underground, Basically treasure chests! These can be forced open by using crowbars and the user must obviously dig and then place the safe box in the whole and cover it over! 5. Additional traps I am somewhat on the fence with this, because we already have bear traps, barbed wire fencing, sandbags, tank traps etc but perhaps pitfall traps? How about allowing users to make wooden stakes for camp defense? Just some random thoughts, feel free to provide any criticism you can come up with.
