    What about Dayz dev abuse?

Locking the server so only a handful of friendly players or clan members can run around collecting all the best vehicles and equipment before unlocking the server to everyone else is cheating. I don't see it all the differently than a player signing on with hacked files such that his weapon never misses or destroys whatever it hits with one round. Most of us need to be extremely careful when going to locations where the 'good stuff' is located because of the likely presence of others who will kill you on sight. Locking out that threat is no different in my eyes that using a hacked file. You are cheating by doing it. I understand that by hosting a server you are putting your own money into it. However, this is like becoming a franchise, a DayZ franchise. When you do so, there are certain standards you have to maintain or risk losing it. Why? It's very simple, without maintaining the standards you're damaging the product, the brand name. Imagine going to a McDonalds and asking for a Big Mac and being told there weren't any left. Then you come to find out the reason they're all gone is that the store was locked for two hours that morning and the employees ate them all. That's what's happening here. If McDonalds got wind that a Franchise bearing its name was receiving numerous complaints of this nature, they would shut that Franchise down eventually for damaging it's brand name, it's image.

Base Defenses ( Document included )

Ok, first off you didnt read my post well enough or you at least didn't understand what I wrote. Yes I understand that vehicles are often near large camps, but that is a risk that must be thought of and can be avoided, such as moving your vehicle not near your camp. The only thing locks would do is reduce your chance of you crap being stolen temporarily. Vehicles are rare, so it will much rarer for a single tent to be demolished/looted. Also, you should make large camps in general in this game. They should be spread out in a certain vicinity from the a each tent to avoid detection. I can't tell you how many times I've raided tents because they were large groups or vehicles with them, they were very easy to spot.

    What about Dayz dev abuse?

Given that the servers must connect to the hive to access the developer data for dayz players, it's fully within the dev team's rights to lock out and shut down any server that refuses to adhere to certain rules; rules like battleye compatibility, public access, and server specs. How is it unfair to shut down a server that's facilitating hackers or allowing clans to horde all the vehicles? Volate the terms of use and you lose your server. Nothing unreasonable or unfair about that.

    Carebear Quarantine Force aka CQF

They do appear to have alot of unoffical servers to play on , all with nametags so they can see people creeping up on them. Group has looted about 3 vehicles from them so far.

    OA Editor/SP broken after 1.7.2?

yes, I cant spawn men. Only vehicles and planes, chopper etc. But I can not spawn soldiers.
  6. I think the real issue with DCing is how cheapening it is for the DCer. Danger? DC. Well, if you want that kind of hand-holding, just load up any other shooter where you can spam F6 to quick save every step. The fun of Day Z is in the threat of losing everything you've earned. Found NVGs in the barracks? Well, now you have to survive getting out of the airfield. Got a treasure trove of loot? Now you have to hide it. Your tent will be found, your vehicles stolen, but you know what? You'll find other people's tents too, and steal their vehicles, so it evens out. That's the fun. I admit, it took me awhile to realize that. I used to sprint everywhere, picking up a zombie train, then log in/log out to despawn them. But the game got boring quick. Now when a bullet hits near my feet, I try to find the attacker and decide if fight or flight is the best decision. The tension I feel in moments like this does not exist in any other game, period--and that's what makes Day Z special. If you hack, DC to avoid death or re position, you aren't playing the game, you're cheapening it for yourself and others. I died the other day and lost everything. Coyote backpack. NVGs. Silenced m9+m4. But you know what? The moments before I died were epic. A 2v3 gunfight over a vehicle, blood spouting from the jeep as it drove before the passengers jumped out and died. They all had similar, maybe even better gear, than myself. In the end, my friend managed to escape with the vehicle and reclaim my NVGs, so I'm not naked again (and have regeared almost completely in under a day). Day Z is fun, and it sucks to lose loot, but when you know where to go and have backup, it's not too hard to re-gear.
  7. I'm trying to set up a server, just by renting. The reason? I have a group of approximately 12 - 20 people who compete against each other / which each other over several games and communities. It's no fun joining US 520 (for example) where every car is saved in a random location and being camped by people 24/7. I want all the cars to be in their spawns, there to be no tents and no one with base camps around my server.. At least not until every has a fair chance. I will open my server publicly, not locked or anything, but the first 20 or so people who will connect (a few minutes after it's open) will be my friends and fam from these other communities. We're probably going to disconnect close to vehicle spawns, so as soon as we log in we should be good to go. Some may find this unfair, but I find it unfair how certain people hide a vehicle then never log into that server again. It's ridiculous, and really frustrating. I hope that when I open my server we will be able to get set up. My small group (about 8 of us) who work together will be restricted to 2 vehicles. That leaves a shit ton for everyone else.
  8. Today was a very successful day, bandit-wise. And be warned, it's a long one. And it started rather crappy.... I got shot on my dirtbike....losing my entire kit AND the bike. A few hours after that, when me and my crew returned to our camp, our two vehicles and most of the stuff from our tents was gone. Turns out I had actually heard earlier, how the douchebags crashed our pickup outside of Gorka. The driver died in the crash, I gave the pessenger a .50 to the back...oh sweet revenge...I didn't know it at the time, I thought it was just a random crew with a pickup. Anyway we decided to change servers and find a location for a new camp. So we packed up what we cold carry and kitted up, and started our journey. At this time it was me (Pixel), BAEM and Paddy, who were moving through Cherna, all ghillied up and armed to the teeth. We soon made it up to Vybor, where we found an ATV, fully fueled and ready to go.At this point, Paddy was afk and several minutes behind. So BAEM and I decided to take the ATV for the time being and scout ahead...check a few known vehicle spawn locations and a find a good place for a tent. We found both. At first a nice little site, that we makred for later camping...and then another ATV, this time completely damaged and with lots of stuff in it (7 satchels, a MK48 with 5 belts and all the parts for the necessary repair, sans two wheels) Our goal now, was of course to find the missing wheels. At this time, Paddy was back and in bad need for food and drink, so he decided to go into Vybor, where we met him at the gas station. After a quick discussion, we decided that BAEM was gonna check Vybor for wheels, while I took Paddy to our campsite on the ATV (he had the tent) As fate wants it tho, I flipped the ATV going over the bridge in Vybor (damn you, Arma engine!). So now we had to flip it back, for which we need the second ATV, so we need those wheels. At this point Foxman, our fourth, logged on, he was still near our old camp. So he went back to that server, took our wheels out of the tents and made the long journey to the airfield on foot. In the meantime, BAEM, Paddy and I decided to make a run on the airfield, maybe find some wheels. We raided the southern barracks and adjacent buildings without incident...but also without wheels. But we saw zombies at the firestation across the field, meaning players! We moved to a overwatch/sniper position. BAEM was carrying a DMR, Paddy's got an AS50 and I quickly put my silenced M4 into my pack and took out the M107. We watched...and waited. Nothing happened, the zombies despawned. BAEM says he's gonna go to the other side, check the industrial compound for wheels. He moved over, we stayed. Nothing happened at first. He then aggroed a bunch of Z's and ran out of ammo for his silenced M9, so he had to use the DMR. At nearly the same time he fired, two other players fired on him, but missed badly. BAEM ran like a bitch and managed to evade without injuries. He retreated back to the damaged ATV in the woods, Paddy and I kept overwatch, sadly not seeing the two players. Things stayed like this for a while. Somewhere in between, I lost my ghillie suit due to a re-log error, so I was a little uncovered, but still in a bad position. Foxman soon arrived at BAEMs position, they repaired the ATV and moved towards the flipped one. So, at this point, Foxman and BAEM are far off the airfield and Paddy and I are on two sides of the same tree, hidden and waitiing....and now it got interesting! Pixel: "Hey Paddy are you walking around behind me?" Paddy: "No man, I'm still laying here." So I turn my head and whadda you know...two players, jogging through the wall and right by us (maybe 10 meters distance) like it's cool, without seeing us. Pixel: "Holy shit, don't move, two guys right behind us!" Paddy: "Oh fuck, why didn't I hear them?" Pixel: "Forget it, just get ready to run. Even if we take them out, we can't stay to loot after we fired our cannons." So I quickly slap the zero on my M107 to 100m....let them walk by..take a knee...and pray to god. I aim for the first one....BAM...center mass in the back, he goes down. I was shooting on my knees, so the recoil of the fifty was a bitch...It took me too long to readjust. enough time for the second guy to figure things out. he got off two rounds in my direction with his M4 before I center-massed him to the chest, taking him down too. I took a quick breath and then Paddy and I hauled ass, off the field and south, getting distance in. We decided to circle around and watch the flipped ATV, keep overwatch while BAEM and Foxman try to flip it (they werent there yet). I was going first, so I was also the first to see them: three other players. moving across the field towards a barn south of Vybor, not far from our ATV. I kneeled, guesstimated the distance and fired. I missed the first shot cause they were moving. But the last guy of the group hit the dirt as soon as I fired and started crawling and rolling, turning towards me, too. He had a DMR, so he needed to go. I readjusted....BAM..headshot, one down, two to go. The other two made for the barn and Paddy and me kept watch of the entrance, but we couldnt see the back of it.Lucky for us, BAEM and Foxman had of course heard about the commotion on TS and circled around it all, so they were able to get them from behind. We knew they were in a little shed off the main barn, but we couldn't get to them. What did we do? We used the old "scare the shit ouf of them tactic". Foxman grabbed the MK48 off the ATV and just bursted the shed with rounds. Sure enough, they ran, for the main barn. With the machine gun going from south and the sniper north, they didnt count for added accuracy from the south, too. As soon as they bolted from the shed, BAEM took one of them down with his DMR. The last one had made it to the barn, he was now trapped. He had a MK48 and a DMR pointed at the south door, an AS50 covering the north door...and I had moved to cover the west door. We wanted to take him down, too. I quickly grabbed my M4 out of the backpack and moved in, along with MG-Gunner Foxman and marksman BAEM from the south.I saw the guy in the small west door..and he saw me. I quickly moved from the line of fire and gave supressing fire onto the door, to keep him inside. While I did that, Foxman and BEAM moved to the main entrance and leaned around the corner... I heard one long burst and a few DMR shots and saw a couple of tracers fly out the backdoor, but most rounds hit their mark, he was now dead, we had taken him down without losses, without injuries, even. We had the sweet satisfaction of taking their loot...weapons, backpacks, night optics and of course....BEANS! Sadly...in all the goings on in Teamspeak..with the attempts of flipping over the ATV and the collecting of gear from the dead, we completely missed that our fifth guy, Melo, was moving in on us. So as I was moving some stuff around, I saw some guy a hundred meters north of us...and I called it out. There was a little rushing and shuffling, a slight panic...and then three DMR shots in quick succession. BAEMs murder count got up to 7...and Melo was dead. In the end, we got the ATV back on all fours, found a second tent on the dead guys (thank you!) and moved to set up camp without further incidents. Melo got picked up in Zelenogorsk, so all was good, as we had saved his gear, naturally. And I want to take this chance for something... You group of three people we took out: I do not know your names. But THANK YOU! Thank you for staying and fighting, you had several chances to cowardly log off (at least two of you did...) and you didn't! You chose to stay and fight like men, which is so rare in DayZ these days....I don't know if you had made the same decision had you known how many of us there actually were...but you made the decision anyway, which is good! Thank you!

    Cant Refuel V3S

Some vehicles are just tricky to refuel, all i could suggest is just keep trying at different angles.

    Global ban due Fraps?

You shouldn't chat shit about what you don't know about. It's pretty easy for a hacker to disguise an overlay as a voice communication or recording software, and use that to get by a hack shield. That's why BattlEye is proactive at banning people who may have overlays. The other thing is that BattlEye has logs. If you've ever used hacks in anyway - spawning vehicles, weapons, etc - they can tell. They questioned a friend of mine and seized his base camp because they found a hacked helicopter. After less than 24 hours of searching, BattlEye cleared their base and gave them all their gear back minus the heli. Not to mention they also gave his whole clan free copies of Arma 2: CO. The moral? BattlEye are doing their best and you're just chatting shit, lol.

    Sick of BANDITS

bandits being the "population majority" is an illusion. generated by the fact they roam in large groups and generally make a lot of noise, either with gun fire or by seeking out High population areas to get player kills. The vast majority of players roam random servers in solo, or 2 man groups, while bandits stick to a single server where they have a massive advantage with stashed gear and even vehicles. This further increases the effect of the "illusion" that you "carebears" are out numbered. You are out gunned, but not out numbered.
  12. I did not see the metalhead was killed message and your body was not there at all. I did indeed hop server as yours had no map positioning and without GPS & compass I ran all the way to 014-044 before realizing I was lost. I admit that I hopped server but you should admit that while you were in the lobby discussing this with lolbroccolli the server "happened" to go down. As far as it not being fair on other players...you can say that again to clans that hoard vehicles at the edge of the map, admins that lock servers for personal gain and people that use hacks. Yes I was well kitted out thanks to the luckiest day I've had in dayz and the NVG I got from your truck. You don't need to warn me. I'm not going to log on to UK63 anymore :P

Banned from UK 25 for server hopping??

Vertisce Hmm i'm sorry but you are mistaken, as i said i have only banned 6 in 3/4 weeks 2 banned caught on video. (Dev's were informed of this before banned) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/13769-two-cheaters-caught-on-tape/#entry154655 1 banned spawned a heli (Dev's were informed of this before banned) http://dayzmod.com/f...ng/#entry231477 can't remember the first 2 ban's but again dev's where informed before the ban's I don't ban anyone without asking in the dev's in admin channel first. Plus only MiniGoold was banned from this group who had these vehicles within there group. Due to server hopping, one main reason for the ban was server hopping as it was noted on Arma2 Rcon, But since we want to go down this road. What was not said about the raid on our camp was MiniGoold admitted being involved in the raid. when our first 2 guys went down. we grouped together 12 of us went to our base and 5 of them were at the base. we killed 3, MiniGoold name was not one of them that was killed. 2 Alt F4 on us. 12 members is proof enough for me and the fact MiniGoold wasn't one of them killed he had to be one of them who Alt F4ed and if i had to guess the other that would of been XslaneyX who has not been banned. You can draw your own conclusions if you want, but as far as i'm concerned i informed thoses needing to know before any ban was placed. We have nothing else to say on this matter and as said in my OP if told to remove the ban i will.
  14. Clan 101 was compiled by a group of friends who've been gaming with each other for various amounts of years throughout different games. We're based on the thought of creating a thriving and exciting gaming environment for members to enjoy their experience with. The clan has played through many games including: Star Wars: The Old Republic Diablo 3 Tera Guild Wars 2 (On release) Our community website:http://the101.eu/ Throughout these games it has been clear that the clan has grown into a great community including an interesting and innovative player base and have been playing Day Z on a consistent basis for a little over a month now. Day Z, however didn't interest all of our members hence the recruitment being open for social and experienced members who don't take the game too seriously, have a great sense of humour, however have the experience to handle and carefully deal with most situations put in front of them as a group. Initially, the clan started as a basic survivor squad, just attempting to gear up and explore to see what the map of Chernarus truly withholds, however among our journey many battles unprovoked by us where fought making us wonder, why should we actually take it so easy? Upon being cheated (as I'm sure most people have been in this trust reliant game!) we learnt our lesson and redirected our motives. Now our motives lie near being one of the most dominant, experienced and feared clans Day Z has to offer, trusting only our clan members and no one else. Currently, on various full (50/50) servers we have withheld Cherno for hours among hours, fighting many gruesome fire fights with a high success rate. We've explored a large proportion of the map therefore our navigational skills are exceptional and our tactical methods in combat have been refined due to an extensive amount of engaged fire fights with groups of players. We have access, and have had access to the best gear in the game including the feared M107 anti material rifle, a range of vehicles, high end assault rifles and other useful gadgets like the range finder so our experience with weapons isn't limited. What we expect from you: To know your way around Chernarus and be able to navigate efficiently. To communicate efficiently - this means highlighting any useful Intel and ensuring your position is always known by the players around you. This also includes the ability to take orders and to convey them without panicking. We use Skype and have a Teamspeak 3 server, and they are essential to join. To have a good sense of humour and to be able to actually enjoy the game - We really aren't looking for someone who will sit on comms with us saying nothing and being 100% serious 24/7, obviously in situations seriousness is needed but know when to apply it, and when to lighten up and enjoy a laugh. To have had experience with gear, it's obviously preferable if you have some type of relatively decent gear on you now, however it isn't compulsory if you've had necessary experience handling high end items as we've all died in this game! To be willing to gain our trust, as trust is a big factor in this game, and it's the basis of all team play. What we can provide to you: An enjoyable and experience Day Z environment surrounded by a supportive clan who want to make even bigger things happen. A tactically organised group who've encountered many unfortunate situations and have prevailed against the circumstances who could include you in our glory! Airfield raids, city raids, town raids, raids... raids... raids..! Lots of big guns! A higher rate of survival - With the player base we already have, it currently consists of 6 people, whom have survived a variety of dire situations, however wouldn't have done it alone. We provide medical attention, food and watering needs, ammunition distribution if anyone is running low, and of course - fairly distributed guns. We're a clan, a team - We're here to support one and other for our cause, not too pimp one person for their own enjoyment With the introduction of new players, organised and efficient strike teams can be set out to secure locations, survival resources and to tactically outsmart enemies in battle. The ability to experience vehicles - These are quite rare, however we've used various vehicles and versatile transport is key for a clan with our aims. To contact me add my skype at Cobrakitty123 - my Steam ID is - Cobrakitty
  15. To start off with i'm going to apologise for the server going down but it was out of my control, the servers have been up and down all weekend (resulting in downtime for most of Sunday morning and afternoon) In total since the server started up at the begining of July there have been about 7 days of downtime due to the server going down with 'Status:Unknown' More Info before you accuse of restarts http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/31534-vilayer-hosting-issues/page__hl__vilayer As for this incident, i found the truck while running back in towards stary via devils castle (assumed it had been portal'd), and thats when your friend stated shooting at me.(didn't shoot your friend who was very obviously out in the open) Messaged him saying don't shoot, bandaged, and took the truck again leaving your friend be with whatever he'd taken. Then when i get back north. I gave him the choice of leaving with the stuff he'd taken but he chose to come back after me. On returning to our base there he was waiting for me, I had no choice other to kill or i'd have been shot myself thats when you server hopped in shot me and left me to bleed out. At no point did I disconnect, I had no bandages so I was screwed regardless. I have no idea how your friend managed to get from devil's castle to our base on foot in the same time it took me to in a vehicle... shame you're 'corrupt' footage doesn't show me respawning due to having 1500blood and sitting in the lobby for a couple of minutes discussing with lolbroccoli about the incident, As for the Server going from day to night, speak to Villayer about that, we have and we've yet to get any idea why it does that when the server restarts either... The Vilayer servers are currently messed up due to the ACP panel being screwed, thats the only information i've been given as to why random reboots and endless server downtime happens. (despite your video having no day to night changes) Oh and that loot you stole, was shit we'd collected through alot of time and effort which was gonna be given around to newbs on the coast to try and balance out the fact that bandits seem to like shooting new guys with no guns. Ask some of the noobs who come on the server, we always try to help out the new guy and after many bandit encounters still do not shoot on site, such was the situation with your friend, up in the tree's I simply drove away. You came chasing after me, weren't much more i could do that take him down. Like i said you're more than welcome to some free stuff at cherno when we head down that way, and the vehicles will be left scattered close by for new players, but accusations like this are uncalled for as it hurts both the servers and the admins who spend their own money to give people a server to call home. As for your friend server hopping to the rescue, we don't allow this sort of behaviour especially to gain position or advantage, if you have a home server, stick to it, don't go ruining other peoples servers just for gear that you would rather steal than work for
  16. Andrej we've lost around 15 vehicles on DE10, 4 different locations. Someone didn't simply steal a bus with no wheels and then kindly gave it back 2 days later. Of those 15 vehicles i'd say about 5 were stolen, it always happens when the server restarts.
  17. Looks like our community is well over a thousand servers now and still growing. Awesome energy behind an Alpha project, what great support for something that was originally designed as a test of a hundred or so players. The game is addictive and fun and I really look forward to the final release version in whatever for it takes! It seems though, that with such unprecidented growth, comes a lot of growing pains that causes frustration with the Admins and Player base, and the Dev staff I imagine as well. I jumped on the game in May and really liked what I saw, so I found some others I gamed with in WWIIonline and other games and invited them to try it out with me. They liked it and stuck around. We began playing on any low ping server, but then found the advantages in picking a server as a home base. Somewhere to bed down our gear and get to know the folks who played it, much like I'm sure many of you do. It was shortly there after that we found the server being reset a lot, down a lot, time changed to dark when the admin when to bed and other games like that. Eventually it was down hard and we gave up what gear we had stored there in search of a new home. In wanting to support the growth of this mod, as well as have a home for our little group, we decided to pay for a server we could call home. A home as in a place to lay our gear that we knew would be up when we wanted to play and wouldn't be managed in a way that is detrimental to anyone on it. An equal playing field per say. That server quickly grew to two 40 slot servers in case either host had box issues, we wouldn't be down. It seemed like a great idea and would add to the community. Our little group of folks play fair and expect the same with our server and those who join. We don't combat DC, dupe, hide vehicles, hack, etc... When we find another camp, we take the gear that we need and leave the rest. We don't run it over, blow it up or anything else that would be frustrating to others playing. I've died countless times over the weekend and never thought once to restart the server or DC out of it. In fact I'm begining to enjoy the unknown part of making it back to camp alive with little gear from the coast. Its an interesting part of the whole game. There's no win or lose on this game and we don't need the uber weapons to have fun. Running these servers has now begun to be a real pain. A pain because of the hackers, script kiddies, GB's of logs to review and making sure things run smoothly. All of us in the group are over 40, have kids, careers and other things to attend to. We do our best to keep our server clean, respond to those posting questions, corrrect bans when they were not put in place properly and try and make the community a fun place to be. Each month I dig into my pocket to the tune of $50 for the Vilayer server, $35 for the HFB one and another $15 to have a Ventrilo server folks can contact us on (as well as a place for the players to use and meet. We got a note from HFB last night saying they were taking away FTP and File Manager access to our server at the request of the DayZ team.......WHY? How do you expect me to keep the logs pruned and managed? I know there are some servers out there that are being used to the advantage of the owners, and that pisses off the good admins as much as it does the player base and the Dev Team. There are also a lot of players running scripts, duoing stuff, DC'ing and server hopping, and that pisses off all of us as well. What can be done? I don't know at this point..... For the Player base: Most admins run a clean server for the benefit of the community. Its rather demoralizing to us to have the constant crap of all being lumped together under the title Admin abuse everytime something goes wrong in the game or in your life. Enough already. Enjoy the game, move away from the servers that treat you bad. Report those that are truly doing something wrong, but this mud slinging everytime you lose a vehicle or tent is old. You want us to run clean servers and keep the idiots and hackers out, well that takes some banning, some kicking and a lot of trolling through thousands of pages of logs. AMRA has a lot of holes, BE has a lot of holes, some things in the logs that look legit arent, other that may not look legit are. There's not many good tools we have to screen out the good from the bad. What is there often requires you to look at all three logs to compare and even then its a guess. You can't ask the dev team for help, they are too busy fixing and growing the game (rightly so) so there will be errors in bans that can be corrected. New server owners don't have a clue as to what to look for. They rely on word of mouth from other owners and that experience, good or bad, is what they have to go on. There is no set of tools or instructions given that say this "XXXXX" is a cheat and this"XXXX" is not. I don't expect the Dev team or server owners to publish that in the open either as it just helps the srcipters....so we have what we have and do our best with it. Support the admins out there giving you a place to play, a home for your gear free of trolls, scripters, idiots and those poor souls who were told growing up that you're entitled to everything in the world because you exist.......(democrats....sorry had to go there) Please, if we are doing such a horrible job in your eyes, step up and help out. Put your money on the table and try running one for just a month for the experience. Perhaps you won't come away jaded and really enjoy it.... Once again, we have no special powers. we can: Stop / Start / Restart Ban (our server only) Temp Ban (up to seven days while we look inot the issue) Kick Set Ping Cap Set Crosshairs on / off Set Map On / Off Set Third person On / Off Say Hi to you over global chat For the Admins: Lets do our part to keep the servers clean. If you only got a server to farm gear or keep it to you and your buddies, then drop the hive and go private. Don't be part of the problem and bring the rest of us down. For those of you running a good server within the rules as best as you can, I applaud you! Lets demand better tools to operate our servers with! Lets demand the Dev team make us part of the solution, not act like we are part of the problem. Let's work togther to weed out the morons, players and admins alike, and share our knowledge of what works and what doesn't. Help the new server owners with what we have learned so far and share the ways to find and ban the new exploits developed. We spend our hard earned dollars to support the mod and we expect a little help when we do so. For the Devs: Thanks for making a great mod. I get that you need to focus on improving the game and getting it ready for a hopeful Beta, then full release. I know you don't have time to answer every question the player base or Admins have. I hope to see this game really grow and be polished for its full release! Plase stop further restricting the admins who are here to help you in that effort. Stop taking away tools we have to monitor our servers and give us more that help keep it clean and free of idiots. Please don't act like I should be grateful that you let me spend my money to help you. We all want to help but we want to feel supported in our efforts. Without those of us willing to spend our money and time to help you and the players, there would be no servers. I seen none labled DAYZ Owned. I think its fantastic that you can get our community to step up and be involved, however I grow tired of being lumped in with the idea that "All admins are bad" so therefore we must further restrict what they can do. All players aren't hacking so we shouldn't lump them together as one as well. Give us some decent tools to screen our logs, not control access so we can't even FTP to them. I'm asking you to take some time to really work with those that are here to work with you. We share in your vision, so help us help you! I've vented enough, and kind of expect to be banned for what I have laid out here. I hope this mod does well and continues to grow. I enjoy playing it a lot and only wish I had more time to do so. As a bit of a protest in the Dev team instructing HFB hosting to remove some of our tools, I will be taking down my servers for 24 hours begining July 20th. I encourge others to do so as well. John

    US53 - Server Thread

Hey Denver Admins can't spawn anything. Hackers can, and with some screen shots they can be banned. When you say you found 3-4 vehicles randomly abandoned, it's possible that you just found them at their spawns before anyone else. As far as your Ural, I think you got robbed. As hidden as you may think it is, someone probably spotted it by pure luck. The only thing you can do now is hunt them down and take it back :D

    Vehicle despawn timers.

Vehicles seem to be a strange one for me, the first week of playing my group got about 4 vehicles, a GAZ, ATV, BUS, tractor and some something that looked like a Skoda. The ATV rolled for no reason far from our camp, we couldn't right it again so gave up and lost that one, the Bus got destroyed by a sniper killing two of us who were joyriding around inside. The Gaz and Skoda both disappeared around the same time that the server we were on had troubles with hacking. Someone was doing something to the server because all players were suddenly spawned 200m up in the air and dropped to our deaths, this happened twice. Afterwards both cars had disappeared and didn't respawn in their usual places. I suspect - although can prove nothing - that hackers stole the vehicles by examining database code and determining where they were, then they spawned and stole them. This has been reported before by the community but like I say I have no evidence and so both cars have simply disappeared into the ether. I also have a sneaking suspicion that vehicles are being stored off of the map, which obviously needs addressing if true, I'm half tempted to go north to the edge of the map and run east to west looking for a collection of cars, bikes and heli's. Of course both cars could simply have been stolen legitmately by other players, after all, I found one of them 'deep in the woods' which is actually a silly place to put vehicles 'cos they stand out a mile away when you are running though the forest, found the bus and tractor in the woods as well. Going for a bicycle next, cheap, fast, no fuel and easy to hide but if the hacking thing is true then don't store vehicles near your main camps, don't want some scumbag spawning onto your car then running over all your tents 'cos they were right in front if it.
  20. Patch 1.7.2 seems to have broken the single player component of OA and i was wondering if any of you guys know a way to fix this... The Editor still "works" but most of the units are missing and 90% of the vehicles that still show up in the list don't actually appear when you place them on the map. Scenarios seem to be completely broken now, as in you cannot even get past the loading screen in most, and if you can you spawn as a motionless camera 10m off the ground. Haven't tried the SP campaign but i think its broken as well. I only play DayZ, but like to screw around with the editor every once in a while and i wanted to try a few custom scenarios for shooting practice so it kinda sucks that this component of the game is just broken now. Reinstalling might fix it, but updating DayZ will probably just break it again so i wanted to ask here first if anyone has been able to fix this.

Base Defenses ( Document included )

The helicopter being pinched while you are logged off is exactly the same as you being asleep and your camp being raided and that is possible, although you would have people taking turns to guard your camp (which obviously isn't possible to have someone logged on at all times) So I think camouflaging would be a much better and realistic option, nothing should be completely safe in this game,I think if turrets and similar ideas are implemented the game will just end up being another online shooter with zombies. Camouflage and burying items and have a map generated of the position so you can go back and retrieve it (which if your killed or robbed another player could try to find it).But stopping players from server hopping etc would make a major difference, the game is supposed to be about the experience you have trekking half way across the map to the airfield for example, you might get killed you might not. Also barricading houses and using locks and broken vehicles to block off and protect is far more realistic than finding automated turrets. This is supposed to be a very harsh difficult game world and that's what makes it so refreshing and enjoyable, don't take this the wrong way ZombieGrin but it sounds like your annoyed about one of the things that make the game so different it's realism, the fact you have to constantly worry about losing your gear and starting again, but even though I don't like your turret idea I think it's great your taking the time to go in to detail about new things to improve the game.
  22. Hi, i've been playing for a while now and have some tips for all newbies. When I first started I sneaked around Cherno and Elektro, looking for the stuff I needed to survive a trip north. I always ended up dead when I had everything I needed for my trip. Lately I discovered that you only need a weapon, so now I run like crazy mother****** through the town thats closest and loot evry building with no care of others, a couple a dayz ago I ran in through the firestation in cherno and a guy was camping it with an rifle. I said friendly and he answered: then you can leave. Just gonna loot real quick. Ran past him and looted the whole tower and ran out again. Wtf was all I heard. It's when you stay and hide, waiting for the right moments you die. In the tower I found a rifle and now I was ready to head north were the fun is. Now I loot all the deer stands and towns in (almost) peace and quiet. I think the towns and roads in the middle between cherno/elektro and north east airfield is the most fun. You always encounter bandits on their way to the airfield, often there is cars and other vehicles you can ambush ;) So in short to all newbies. Don't sneak around in cherno or elektro til you got everything, you will die every 10 minutes. Run through all buildings and loot til u find a gun, maybe some morphine for those broken bones and then get the hell out. Head north, loot the deer stands until you find some other players. Ambush them and then loot their bodies. They often have everything you need for survival or else they wouldnt be there :) This is the way we play and its been the funniest and easiest way. Yesterday we managed to find 2 cars, one quad, two bikes, a bus and maybe six crash sites :) Good luck For you who never left the coast I have to say
  23. I realize that you're busy trying to fix and tweak things that are currently having an effect on users, however, something else is going on - your customer's experience is being tainted by hackers. As an example... Last night, two of my clan members were at our vehicles. Suddenly, a gentleman appeared, and killed one. Our VS3 and URAL were taken. Seems like it's pretty normal, huh? After he was killed, his body was starting to get dragged by an invisible entity. When he got onto the ATV after logging on, and reconnecting later, he was being "chased" by another invisible player, whom seemed to be running at a speed equal to that of an ATV. He could hear the footsteps running along the ATV as he was going at ~45 km/h. He said after he had gotten off, he was shot. 20 minutes later, they were at a camp that was by one of the lakes. They had the same experience. Another experience was a few days ago. I had parked a URAL for a brief five minutes to investigate something, when all of a sudden, I heard the door open/close, and it disappeared before my eyes. I never found it in that location again, even after saving it. ANOTHER experience was about 1.5 weeks ago. I was laying down UNDERNEATH OF A GROUP OF PINE TREES, clearly hidden. An hour went by, and I heard footsteps approaching from behind, suddenly. A gentleman appeared next to me, looked at his map, then looked down at me and blasted me with his .50 cal. I was wearing a ghillie suit, and it blended in quite well. This issue seems to be the least addressed. I think more measures need to be taken against these hackers, and soon. Cheers.
  24. The thing is that I dont think that this would mess with the games environment since if your going for the more realistic feel there would be no endgame since in real life you would just stay low hidden in the forest however in dayz a end game challenge is of need because there is nothing left to do when you have a tent and some vehicles. I know I know it's a sandbox game and you make your own challenges but I still think you need a goal, something to aim for if that's going to be possible. Of course you can modify my original idea, maybe the seeing blood status and so on is a bit too easy for dayz but being able to create a group and having some basic goals and some more advanced that won't directly effect how powerful the group is would be excellent. And if it doesn't bring any sort of necessary end game solutions then simply delete it in a future patch, no harm done :) And as someone said you can easily accomplish these goals alone, then make them only achieve able when in a group, or only put in harder goals? I really think there is a lot to this idea we only have to figure out the right ingredients to put in it. And please write WHY you think it's a bad idea!

    Vehicle Hoarding Suggestion Fix

Having five vehicles in your camp also greatly increases it's chances of being discovered.
