Don't hoard vehicles. Seriously. Enjoy them. Share them. Have fun. There is no point in storing crap in an alpha.
-
We don't generally frequent one in particular given there are only so many vehicles to each server and therefore only so many stashes. We do also lead the way to vehicle spawns that need repairs if we've given away all our stock Oh and if we need help we'll be in touch :P
-
Yeah exactly vehicles should be a lot more common given the map size and population of the towns/city's... Oh well
-
Name the server and we'll find it haha ;) It won't last though, bucko, the chase is now on. Oh, and one cheeky tent is no biggie. We don't mind that, it's actually quite cute. It's tent cities and multiple vehicles that get our jimmies going :P
-
the vehicles are very rare it sucks because te map is so big. i found a quad once and drove it 3 mins before i disconnected,i guess going fast is too difficult for the servers. i logged in and it was gone yet i was still alive :( i found 2 boats also, one with no gas and one with gas that went only 14mph....

Balance changes due for "high-end" items and more
ForcefulCJS posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'll try to keep this post succinct, some of the rare items need to be adjusted or removed as this game works its way toward beta: 1 - Ghillie Suits) There needs to be some downside for this item. The simplest and most agreeable change is that it removes the player's backpack or at least keeps the player's backpack visible. Right now Ghillie suits make it extremely easy for anyone to become almost invisible at 200m+ and Ghillie+Pine Tree = Easy mode concealment. There's plenty of reasons why everyone wouldn't want to wander around in bush-suits in a real zombie apocalypse yet right now these are the single most important item for surviving long-term against other players. While everyone else derps around with white sleeves that stand out from a long-distance, ghillies give an extreme advantage to those camping the treelines. Further changes could include the chance of "overheating" or "heat stroke" if the player runs long distances while wearing the Ghillie (another reflection of reality). Having the ghillie impair movement or vision are also viable options. All of these are far more realistic and sensible for gameplay than the current Ghillie with an invisible backpack and 0 downsides. It makes most observation, scouting, and recon pointless when you can't see any ghillie snipers until they take their first shot and you're already dead - at least give them some downsides to their loadout. 2 - L85A2 AWS) I think this one speaks for itself. Thermal vision destroys everything else that PvP in DayZ stands for. Slow, deliberate movement - concealment - careful positioning - etc. are all realistic and sensible things to do while trying to stay alive before the L85 was introduced. Now if you're up against an L85 user, the best thing you can do is run like a madman to shake up their 3x scope and pray that they can't line up a shot before you get out of range. I've used the L85 myself and everyone else I've played with agrees that it's utterly broken. I can spot any player outdoors up to the draw distance in just a couple seconds of scanning and hunt them down easier than killing most animals in this game. Going up against an L85 user is absolutely no fun and makes even the most stalwart player consider ragequitting. You are left with 2 unhappy options: Staying concealed and waiting for the inevitable burst of fire to kill you or keep moving and draw attention from other hostile players or the L85 user's squadmates. Advanced military hardware should make limited and sensible appearances in DayZ, a thermal scope is an example of something that just doesn't belong. 3 - NVGs) I think most players agree that night-time would be much more fun without the constant threat of NVG users. Night time provides an extremely interesting trade-off in visibility between flashlights, flares, and chemlights - each providing its own advantages and disadvantages. All that goes out the window once NVG's enter the picture. They have a massive edge over any other option and heavily discourage night-time play for those without NVG's. If you are wandering the map using flashlights, flares, or chemlights for visibility you are literally a massive neon sign saying "FREE KILL" for the first NVG user to find you. There's nothing the "regular player" can do to fight back. Flares offer some defense but they also draw zombies, plus any competent shooter will kill you before you even realize that you're being stalked by an NVG user. I think the night-game would improve dramatically if they just removed NVG's from the game, but an acceptable alternative would be to add rare batteries required to give the NVG's power and make the NVG's consume the batteries at a relatively fast rate. It would actually force NVG users to use other methods of illumination besides several hours of perfect visibility at night and even encourage them to put their neck on the line by going into towns/loot spots for batteries at night instead of just stalking treelines and never needing to expose themselves. 4 - M107 & AS-50) Almost every sniper rifle in the game does 8000 damage. The .50 cals do around 38,000 damage and the NATO round for the AS-50 does over 170,000 damage. I think the CZ-550, M14, DMR, M24, and SVD are all in a great place in terms of balance for sniper rifles. They encourage you to go for headshots, and at least give the victim half a chance to take cover when they get shot - encouraging snipers to be more tactical in their attacks. There is also something extremely important in requiring at least 2 shots to down a victim, since it means that non-headshot kills risk exposing your position with each subsequent shot. Shots to the legs/extremities with most snipers only does around 2.5-3k damage, encouraging you to at least aim for vital organs. Now let's look at the .50 cals, they do such obscene damage, one-shot anywhere will drop your opponent. This is HUGE. You have very little risk of exposing your position with just 1-shot, and there's absolutely 0 chance for your opponent to react against being shot at. Even shooting them in stupid places like the arms and legs will instantly kill your opponent. Again, I understand these are nasty weapons, but I think we can live with a game where a .50 shot to the thigh doesn't instantly knock me out and kill me. Keep the high damage of the anti-material round against vehicles but balance the damage of .50 cals so they aren't such massive noobcannons, the AS-50 is arguably the most out of place since it's actually quieter to players than any most of the smaller sniper rifles. If the DayZ team refuses to tone down the damage so only upper torso/headshots are one-hit, other methods should still be considered. Make the .50 cal sniper rifles slow down player movement considerably and give the weapons a more noticeable muzzle flash and smoke from firing the weapon. Consider making these two weapons take up 15 inventory slots or more when stored in a backpack. The presence of crashed helicopters has made these weapons practically standard-issue for all snipers - there needs to be more of a downside to using these weapons. Like the L85 they don't really fit the setting when everyone north of Starry is running around with a small cannon on their backs. Final Note: Pine Trees/Bushes, I just thought I should mention these as something to consider for Arma 3. Right now, with just a couple seconds of adjustment any player can sit several feet within the branches of a pine tree or bush and have nearly perfect visibility. This makes hiding/camoflouge in this game very monotonous when hiding in one of these two common plants is your best bet 98% of the time. Right now I can sit in one of these hiding spots and be almost completely invisible unless someone trips over me and still have an excellent view of my surroundings. For Arma 3, make it so that players can't sit in the middle of trees and bushes - covered by several feet of thick foliage - and still have unhindered visibility. This would go a long way to making camping a more risky affair from the current state where the camper will always remain unseen until he takes a shot. -
I think so but I have a similar situation at the moment so would like to know the answer too. You should be pretty chuffed that your van blew up a thief though. Now he'll probably be thinking that people booby trap their vehicles.

Whoever the owner of the camp, First of all, I want to kindly inform that all your pretty GPS, 3 X Coyote backpack, M107, M4 CCO, etc is safe. If you don't mind it is in my backpack. Your ugly tents are buried back to ground by tracktor since it is ruining beautiful natural scenary. All your vehicles are properly scrapped in same reason. Thanks for cooperating with park management. Hope to see you soon again. Regards.

So I was on US 669 with three of my group members and we went to loot the Factory for car parts as some of our vehicles were lacking some. We did the normal strategy. I was overwatch [with my precious AS50 ;D], LostCause was my back-up and Dune and DrGanja went in for the parts. It was 10 minutes into the loot when I noticed another sniper on the hill directly nor-nor-east of me. I then saw his two other friends. Being the nasty fuck I am, I took three shots at each of them and the all died. Five minutes later, one of them on Side Chat say "u fuckin cunt!!!!!1!! i lost my cz550 cuz of u. CUNTT!!!" Needless to say, I think he was mad.

US 1046 - Admins kicking to protect their vehicles
Garful replied to Garful's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Note, kick is at 5:30. Obviously, Kyriel didn't cut the video down so its linear, but it's quite boring until the 2nd kick occurs. Basically, after the first kick, Atropa logs back in to their camp. Priceless doesn't because he was wounded and doesn't want to be on the ground with an hourglass, easy prey for the admin that kicked. Once Atropa is spotted in camp again, the 2nd kick occurs. Since we wiped all but one guy who showed up late, the admin just chain kicks us until his guys can get back to their vehicles. -
How long do cars last, and what is considered "off map?"
[email protected] replied to Mjolnir (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It happens, also "hidden" is fairly impossible in this game, there will always be people roaming around and bumping into your "hidden" vehicles. -
How long do cars last, and what is considered "off map?"
[email protected] replied to Mjolnir (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
hmmm, I rarely have this problem, all my vehicles are exactly where I let them on every server I hide one. I don't even save them as main (Hive) server save the last location Although I just lost a S1203 van from where (1.6Km North of the map border) i parked it... :beans: -
End Game - Things to make you group up.
MinxinG replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd love to see it. Currently my group have 11+ vehicles, around 7 FAL's, 1 AS50, 1 M107, 3 MK 48, 3 M249, 2M16A2 with GL, and a lot of more High/Medium Gears, and we have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do, we are actually trying to find a Helicopter, but it's god damn hard to find, but anyways. After that implementation of a New Map, because I think it's going to be needed for new Cities and stuff, needs to Reset the HIVE along with the servers, for a new beginning with more challenges. Zombies are too weak, too easy to kill, 1 shot with .45 equals death, and there is even a glitch that if you combine a mag and 're-combine' it again it goes full ammo again (I'm not supposed to tell this here but w/e) it's not funny, not any sort of challenges, in this FPS + Zombies we are more afraid of players rather than zombies, because they are the only things that can kill us if we make a mistake. Which is totally wrong. Comparing Resident Evil : Outbreak 2 to DayZ (not saying that has something similar), in that game we are actually afraid of zombies, because they can catch you and eat you alive while you can do nothing about it, rather than pushing him back (ohh jeez, good times). Some Ideas for more deadlier zeds: -Stronger (3 - 4) shots in body to kill, 1 in the head, this will prevent people running like retards in cities and waiting zeds to try to hit him and them shoot in their stomach. -They have a chance of holding you, once they hit you, they have a X% chance of holding you, and you need to kill him to escape, and while being hold your aim would suck (while they are hitting you) -Social Aspect, when a Zed see another zed running after a player, they automatically runs in the direction of the zed that made the first run, until they find the player. -More Numbers, A lot of people told that AI in this Engine requires a lot of memory so it will lag out, if It's true, maybe the idea of changing engines wouldn't be far away -Some engines that have been suggested already and sounds good to me : Unreal Engine 3 CryEngine 3 FrostBite 2(not sure) -
Howdy. I have an appeal to file based on the past 48 hours of activity on US339 Chicago. To initiate this appeal, I will explain that this server is on Central time, I myself am on Pacific time, and all times indicated were referenced immediately to confirm the accuracy of these events. -- I lead a group of 7-10 active players, on a few pvp roams. We have encountered two players consistently that have established that they have the ability to add items into the game that do no currently exist and manipulate the uptime of the server. This has been demonstrated to myself personally and over voice communication 7 times in the past 48 hours. The list of these events is as follows. 1/. A player on voice communication logs into the game in a remote location (away from any landmark, lootable spawn, or player camp) and is shot and killed while loading. The players online at this time coincide with the players expected of these events. 2/. A total of 2 Toyota Hilux, 2 bicycles, 2 Offroad motorcycles, an ATV and a Tractor are all removed from our various bases (we have relocated a total of 3 times over the past 48 hours) and have some have been found at their camp after 'killing' one of their group. 3/. After finding their camp and succeeding at killing one of their members, we evacuated with two vehicles and travelled a distance of roughly 400 meters (out of vision range, perhaps 60 seconds) and all received 'No Message received' causing these vehicles to disappear upon re-logging in. 4/. We have killed an enemy player when the server consisted of 4 players total, three of which were friendly and accounted for on voice comms, looting an enemy camp at Novy Sabor some 7000 M from the coast, and been fired upon within 80-100 seconds by the same player without additional players joining the server while looting. 5/. Said player attempted to dodge death by logging out when were firing on them, and as this server specifically states dodging death will result in a ban, attempted to contact the admin of this server with zero feedback. -- (3, 4, and 5 are all the same event, occurred within a 4 minute period, and confirmed by multiple players over comms, at roughly 3:55am PST. Server restarts occur at 1am, 9am, and 5pm daily according to this server message upon logging in [see attachment A]) -- 6/. A pilot-able helicopter was located at their base and removed by our players, after firing on the same player as confirmed by the current player list. Attempting to take the helicopter away from their base with the intent of destroying it and the silenced PDW found in the Bus next to it was presented with an additional server restart at roughly 9:30pm PST. 7/. After waiting for the most recent restart, our team returned to a new, third base location and were fired upon by two AS50 snipers with accuracy that was impossible as the AS50 does not permit night-vision use and the server light being pitch black at highest gamma setting, and with both snipers being at the location of our 6 person squad despite our having NVG overwatch in an open field not observing these two players prior. --- So, to sum it all up, here are my conclusions: • The server administrators do not reply to messages regarding what their server rules pinpoint as a ban-able offence. • The server contains two players that have exhibited their ability to cover great distances after respawning from death without the aid of vehicles or maps to do so, or being visible during this process. • The server has always gone offline after these two players have been attacked, lost vehicles due to other players finding their base or firing upon them, despite the listed server times not coinciding with the time of these events, in such a way that always favors these two players. • The use of weapons without NVG without discrepancies in distance or accuracy during zero visibility night confirmed by multiple players with the sound and damage dealt coinciding with the non-NVG equipped BAF-AS50. And finally, my additional conclusion that the two players in question are the administrators themselves, and are both mis-using the server command functionality and the ARMA II client inappropriately to gain an unfair advantage over other players. I have provided two screenshots to corroborate my reports: A (Server MOTD showing scheduled downtime) http://i183.photobuc...3_22_11_247.png B (Player list) http://i183.photobuc...itchy/us339.png I would like to request that the times of this server restarting be investigated to potentially be found as abused to gain an unfair advantage over other players, as well as the administrators contacted as all attempts to do so have failed to identify if the identified players are in fact the administrators. If these two issues are investigated and found to be as claimed, I would humbly request that the server hosting guidelines pertaining to administrator abuse be upheld in this matter. Thank you for your time.

Admins cannot kill players, spawn vehicles or anything of the sort... -
So I got my server from Vilayer and finally had it succesfully start but every time anyone joins they get stuck at Waiting for Host. It also claims battleye is not required to enter the server. Dayz Current State is Game Over
Igor (DayZ) replied to Gumpnstein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I got bored. So I decided to snipe. And die. Look for sniper and snipe. And die. Look for another sniper and snipe. And die. The pattern continues and I've only taken a 4-day break because of rage-quitting once and got sucked right back into it. Maybe if you didn't play so much, you would see how fun the game really is rather then playing everyday with everything you need. Go South, help some newbs, give away vehicles to dedicated players, and find a daily DayZ hobby. -
Was just about to post this idea. Aside from the timeframe, I disagree with you completely. Patching this in would mean a vehicle that cannot be hidden. Ever. In the current climate of hoarding/hiding vehicles, this is huge. Yes. Trains bad, handcarts good. No, god no. Everything in this game must be player driven.

Admins cheating on their own server? You decide.
Rayth posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So, a server that I have been frequenting lately which shall remain nameless (let's just say it's in Chicago) has had me thinking.... I know for a fact where the admins base is. I've seen the tents, I've seen the vehicles. Here's my question... in some of the tents, there are as much as 100+ item slots worth of equipment in a SINGLE tent. As far as I know this isn't possible through any legit means, as they only hold around 55 slots. So are the admins cheating? Is it possible to hold more than 55 slots in a single tent?? Not to mention WHAT was inside those tents. Rangefinders, NVG's, ghillie's, top-tier weapons and ammo, etc. So what do you think? Anything that can be done about this? -
hackers ruined it for me, such a shame
Kiro (DayZ) replied to satanicgamers's topic in New Player Discussion
No. There are some real "hacks" that teleport players, instakill everyone, god modes, spawn vehicles and weapons... If you get killed twice a day by hackers, I don't think it's possible to appreciate the mod... -
A friend and I were really digging the game, then hackers ruined pc games for me again. We were playing on us78 nwo server, had a good spot, campsite, water source, off the beaten path. My friend got lucky and found a motorcycle. A day later I was playing and a shortage of vehicles was being discussed in chat. I mentioned "they are out there because my friend found a bike", then an admin types, "who the f are you and why do you have a bike?" Then the server suddenly reboots, I log back in and whaddya know, the map has changed to pitch darkness and full rain, completely blind for everyone. I actually managed my way back to camp and was about to jump on the bike and take off to prevent the theft when suddenly I am spawned nearly off map in the middle of nowhere. Just tonight I tried another server, us 383. I was going for the heli in rog por, NE of electro and found that interesting castle and decided to explore. Walking up the steps I thought I must have bugged out and fell, breaking my legs. Luckily I had the needed supplies. After patching up I decided to head up the castle steps again, found some loot, and on my way back down I heard footsteps. I could see there was no-one inside so I crouched aiming at the only entrance. Then I hear, "boo" and an invisible player shoots me standing right next to me. I was really enjoying the game but the sociopaths have struck again. Is there some kind of xbox conspiracy to make people hate online pc games? Or are there really that many losers who will sneak around by themselves for hours just to get one hack kill, and get to say their epic little one liner. I think the most profitable pc game could be the one that somehow can fully prevent hacks, but how? Video streaming based? Best they could do with that is some shape or color recognition hack. Oh well, sorry for the downer winy story. I'm bummed man, was having alot of fun. Oh well, hail satan I guess.

Admin Abuse, false accusations, and grief caused by US 1038 TX Server admin
Stings2pee replied to redsoxandy7's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nothing can be done about that. It's your word against his. You claim he reset it for his own self-gain and he'll deny it and say it's a coincidence. One of my friends owns a couple DayZ servers and (as much as I hate him doing it) he'll reset the server when it's convenient for him to do so with little to no warning. I've lost several vehicles when he abruptly restarts the server to "reset the item spawns". He'll even camp at the military barracks at NW airfield and keep resetting the server until NV goggles spawn. It's absolute bullshit. But what can you do? NOTHING! As a community, all you can do is boycott those servers and play somewhere reliable that has specific server restart times.
