    Helicopter Hunter
  1. This feature has existed for over twelve years on Ultima Online. If you are within a one-tile radius of another player, you can hear their whispered text, but step away and it wouldn't appear on screen. This would be an awesome feature to put in place. Would be a great way to communicate in game when trying to maintain cover without being overheard, as well as a ton of other applications such as in situations like the one you described.
  2. Myself and three of my friends have been playing LaughingMan's Hive 3 for several weeks now. We'd had some pretty shady instances happen to us over the course of time, but nothing definitive as far as admin abuse or hacking... Until a couple days ago. We had a small base, very well covered, and in a remote part of the map (Guglovo is pretty remote, IMO... no one goes there). Me and two buddies had JUST logged in. Within 60 seconds of logging in, we were being shot at from both North AND South of us, and being hit accurately even though we were under trees, and with trees and tree lines between us and the attackers. We saw not a single attacker, only knew from which direction we were being fired on. Personally, I was laying down and under a tree during the entire event, and I was hit with the first shot that came my way... and there's no way it was legit. What followed after that was about two hours of struggling to return to our camp only to be fired on when we got even within 1500 meters of our tents. It did not matter what direction we came in from. They had chopper support for a good portion of this event, and somehow always seemed to know exactly where we were, no matter what. It got to the point that I literally stayed behind a rock while my buddy went advancing on their position knowing that after my buddy died they were likely to use whatever hacks told them that danger was near and come find me. And that's exactly what happened. My buddy died, and right after that I was suddenly being shot at although they'd have no way of knowing I was behind that rock. During this time I didn't not get close enough to even see ONE of these guys. Clearly they were abusing some sort of ESP hack. And let me ask this question... if you stalked us for hours so that you'd know the EXACT moment we signed in so that you could kill us... and then brought in chopper support extracting your buddies... why didn't you take any of the good gear we had in our tents? The only reason we could come up with is that people who spawn in their own equipment don't need ours. You know? We're hosting our own server now. TLM is a supposedly anti-hack, but it's a haven for hackers. They're just protected.

Character Name: Les Stroud Real Name: Justin How Long Have You Played Dayz: Over 3 months, 400+ hours What Can YOU Offer The Clan: I think outside the box. I can predict another team's movements in real time. I'm a good shot, I know the map extremely well, and I'm fun to have in TS or Skype. I'm also a badass. Just in case that helps. Are You Prepared sacrifice your items to save squad members: I always carry about two kits worth of gear on me at any time for that very reason. Time Zone: Eastern Age: 28 Additional Comment: I've played with a smaller crew for most of my DayZ hours, as well as lone-wolfing it for a considerable amount of time, but I'd like to be involved in a much bigger clan. For example... the kind of large-scale group that can effectively shut down a city if they so choose. The kind of large-scale group that can monitor all roads coming in or out of the coast in order to hijack vehicles. The kind of large-scale group that can get a found chopper up and running in a single day of playtime. I bring a lot to the table, and would be an effective member of such a clan. Steam name is MasterMindflavor. Hit me up if you're interested in bringing me in.
  4. This is like saying "I'm boycotting bicycles because the wheel has gotten people hurt in the past!" OP is a re-tard.
  5. You have my beans sir for three reasons: 1. EPIC VIDEO 2. You didn't alt-f4, you stuck it out. (me and some buddies did the same thing earlier vs a chopper hacker crew, had a blast) 3. Ultima Online is the best game of all time. Me and my crew still play, on free shards.
  6. I got to the ammo box, nabbed an M16, and shot down three people before I was finally gunned down myself. Anyone remember the guy who posted about wanting video games to play INSIDE DayZ down in his player made bunker? THUNDERDOME is the game that should be available for play.
  7. Oh, sorry man. My fix worked for everyone in my group, so I thought it would work for you too. My bad.
  8. Dude... just go into Video Options, then Advanced... then change your HDR Quality to something else, then switch it back to whatever you had it on before. Tada! Fixed!

    Taking a break from DayZ

You've been lucky, that's it. I said the same thing for the first 2 months of playing... but in the past 3 weeks I've been teleport killed twice, had a hacker swoop in behind me with a crossbow that shot bolts as fast as an M4 shoots bullets (followed by wiping all tents/vehicles on that server), and then just tonight a hacker teleported every player on the server to the NWAF for a shootout (I aborted, luckily). It's not region based. Hackers just go down the list of servers one by one by one. Or randomly. And you, sir, have been lucky, nothing more. Ha, and I thought Punkbuster was bad! BattlEye is a steaming pile of zebra shit.
  10. I'll ask my buddy when he's on next... he ragelogged after our primary server quit working on him again for this problem. Thank you for your insight, hopefully something you've said there can be used to fix his BattlEye issue. Just curious... you say "9 times out of 10 its the cpu overloading"... are you referencing that against problems with BattlEye? How much experience do you have with the problem I am facing, and how well versed are you in the fixes for it? You seem pretty strongly convinced it has nothing to do with the setup (which I agree with) and more to do with either his internet/computer or the server itself. It's not the server though, because I play just fine on it. My setup and his setup are exactly the same, but my comp/internet are better.
  11. Thanks for the post, SASR, but I've done all of those things, and the problem still persists. It showed BE updating to 1.67 I believe, and then shortly after kicked me for "BattlEye not responding".
  12. Steam. And I've done the following to fix the problem: -re-validated cache integrity on both Arma II and Operation Arrowhead -downloaded current BE client/server files from the BattlEye website -added those same .dll files to my BattlEye folder in my AppData directory -re-applied Beta patches I've done every 'fix' posted on these forums, and this problem still crops up. It does not do it on all servers. I don't know why this keeps happening.
  13. Has anyone found a solid fix for this? It's happening all the time... not specifically related to any particular update, or server. I've done -everything-.
  14. I'm going to help fix your answers for 1 and 3. 1. It's the terrain... make sure you're not trying to turn AND go forward at the same time, that will bog it down. and 3. Even if the server doesn't have name tags, sometimes those vehicles will show up on the map. In fact, that's how I found that same ATV this afternoon. It would have been better had you parked it AWAY from the Ural and hippie bus. But we saw it. And took it back. That's what you get for moving our trucks, lol. Enjoy Seattle 257.
  15. I'm more worried about the dope smoking Santa Claus in the smokestack in Vybor, personally. But that's only because I refuse to mention the other place.
