CGU CLAN HAS RIGGED SERVER 450!!!
Tfortacos (DayZ) replied to Magnumpi99's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I doubt they cheat, we don't have 20x AS50 and shit like that but we're pretty geared up, 7 vehicles, I'm not a part of CGU by the way. Also, tents are having a pretty weird bug where every server restart the items inside of them dupe/tents dupe. it's weird happen to me twice. -
The function of the "Saving" with vehicles and tents is to provide the hive server with the data about where exactly that object is, along with its inventory. Due to the cost of having this information constantly being uploaded on the servers, it's set up for players to manually perform it when they have their object placed where they want. (i.e. hiding a vehicle, exit and save.) You currently cannot transfer tents or vehicles cross server.

[SAS] clan may be cheating on their own server.
[email protected] replied to dlp12's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Really now? Since when have we ever raided another camp/taken any other people's vehicles? -
you cannot take vehicles or deployed tents server hopping
-
So I have a vehicle and before I get on it there's an option to "save vehicle." I don't know what that does, although I've heard people say that this lets you cross the vehicle over to different servers. Is this true?

I just had the most amazing birthday present from DayZ. Well me and a friend had logged out in Myshkino after randomly finding a heli and being too excited from the adrenaline to do anything after looting it. About a week later we log in (my birthday actually) and make a plan. I know where Heli spawns are nearby so I plan to make my way through the spawns to the east and stop before the airfield, then circle around Lopatino and check Petrovka to check for player tents and vehicles. I was hoping that I would find a rangefinder or an NVG in a tent so I could avoid the dreaded barracks. In the middle of a nowhere field, I stop to check my location with a GPS. Being the cautious player I am I go prone and my friend follows suit. Not even seconds after I go prone I spot a player moving in from our right. If we had still been moving he most defiantly would have seen us. As it is we start freaking. We had rare gear an M107, DMR and FN FAL. As I had a sniper out I yelled for my friend to shoot him. The shots hit there mark and the name that marked him as dead showed up in the corner. We cleaned up our pants and scanned for any others before looting the body. We hadn't expected much, I mean why would someone with something good be wandering in a field of nowhere. How wrong we were. The guy had all the tools I had ever wanted, Rangefinder, second GPS for my friend and a pair of slick new NVGs. We freaked out in happiness. There was little point of going to the camps now, but I was determined to play more, the last time we had logged out after getting rare loot we had lost it all. We continued on our main path, getting our directions mixed up for a bit in our excitement. After about 20 minutes of running we were nearing the first Heli loot spawn on the map I was hoping to check. And holy shit, it was there. Two strokes of luck in a row, we were freaking out like little teenage girls over a twilight movie. I was determined to play it safe. I would get in a sniper position and watch as he looted, and if anything was worth me getting personally I would head down to pick it up. I would come for no less than a Ghille AS50 or M24. After scanning for snipers we decided it was safe enough and he began to loot. "Sweet get more mags for my FN FAL and HOOOOOLLLLLLYYYYYY SHITTTTTTT" "What is it" I said thinking of bandits. "Dude there's a SAW here." Now that was exciting, our group had never had a LMG before. He took it and continued looking in around. "Hey you said you wanted an AS 50 right?" "Yeah, did you find one?" "Yup." Not believing our luck I crawled out to loot it. After what felt like ages I made it to the Heli, and there it was, the most beautiful gun I had ever seen. I dropped my M107 and picked it up. We made it to the treeline and , not wanting to push our luck, logged off for the night. Thank you Rocket for the best in game birthday present ever :D

Required playtime on ArmA II/OA before able to launch DayZ
Bukethead posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I see a lot of threads in the suggestion section such as can you use a different game engine, or can you change this or that about vehicles, etc. Basic pointing out about what they think are short comings that could/should be improved. A lot of these questions could be avoided if people would play ArmA II/OA before hand. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging but I have around 110 hours on ArmA II, that isn't much considering I haven't had the game since it came out, but I at least know how the original game feels, plays, etc. (I purchased Arma II before DayZ was even created fyi) That and I have seen countless DayZ videos on YouTube where some new players find a helicopter or manage to repair one and end up crashing it within 5 seconds of taking off because they lack practice on ARMA. If this was the case we might actually be able to get rid of the running joke which is "So I heard that DayZ comes with this cool mil-sim mod called ArmA II" -
Plea for allowing small private or lan servers...
Cypherdiaz replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The lack of ability, without going to some crazy means, to run a private NON-HIVE server is just plain stupid. Let me first say that any private/locked/etc server should NEVER EVER be connected to the Hive but instead just be locally saved. This would prevent them from gaining an unfair advantage. Now, as for hackers using private servers to test stuff out...uhm..yeh that's already happening and nothing can be done to stop it so that's not an argument for or against. Having a camp get wtfpwned by some hackers that spawned a helo and just gunned down the camp and blew all the vehicles up..is a problem. I love Dayz but i hate some parts of it. Total lack of security is one. Im sorry but if I was actually in this situation..camo tarps over vehicles, yank the wire from the battery to the alternator (so unless a thief had that right wire..the vehicle goes nowhere), id have traps set up that actually mattered, oh and id bury caches in the ground instead of tents WHICH GLOW AT NIGHT!. There's absolutely no security for your stuff in this game. Not saying you should be HANDED it, but you should be able to work your ass off for it (just like everything else in this game) to get it. Yah yah underground bases coming soonish, I watched the Rezzed video too. Ill believe it when I see it. Point is, not being able to easily set up a private server for you and your friends to just have fun on is just blarg. (also this would lessen the weight on the hive I bet, and the people could still do their jobs as testers) Either the devs get on board on make it so we can do private servers or....the community will still demand it and figure out a way to do it themselves because its what they want. You cant stop people from doing what they want no matter how hard you try, they will find a way and they will succeed eventually. -
Crashed Ambulance Car inland with medical supplies.
KyleAlexander replied to Auzkiee's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Maybe we could add armoured vehicles too? XD Like vans that have low-level weapons. More reason to go inland? -
New Weapon! Rotten Old Wooden Plank Weapon to knock a player uncouncious only, Allowing you to loot there gear if you came up behind them. Does not allow you to kill player. Because you start with such a small bag you can not carry all there gear allowing the other player to keep most of his stuff. BREAKS when used on player. So not usefull to use on other new players. (Preventing everyone from knocking each other out on beach) Wood plank + Bandage = Spalk for broken leg, allows you to hop around (bit faster as shift crouch speed) Incase you get a broken leg right at start this is really usefull. New Gear! Small Lighter A small lighter that still has some buzz in it. Wearable to create a small area of light around you creating a bit of visablity at night. Also a way to show yourself to friends when both joining a server at night for first time. a way for other players to regonize each other etc. And you can see a little bit of the player to see if he has weapons or not because the lighter lights himself up. I think the flashlight is too powerfull and to much fun to have at start personally. And should be something you would find in a house. Ontop of that it makes allot of light attracting bandits right away at start. I think the lighter is smaller and more humbling or i dont know how to say at start making you feel more vunerable. Lighter + Wood plank = A fire you can start at the beach making players who do this at first understand the risk of it and the fun of it and players will be attracted to it also creating quick interaction. player can then decide to not do that again next time. When looking at the map at night player lights there lighter to see the map. making themselves a little bit visible. 2x Bandage I noticed when you first start and get hit by a zombie you almost always get a bleed starting. Probably hard coded? And i think 2 bandages would be good and also better with the ideas i have above. 1x Painkillers I think it would be cool to always have the painkiller need effect after a bleed. Because it just makes you getting a hit on someone more effective and your escape is gonna be more difficult etc. Would also be nice if you walk and run slower if not taken painkillers. Some more ideas: Molotov Cocktail. We all know the whiskey bottle. it looks awsome but is not used much. (many dont know you can throw them) So i thought. What about making it possible to turn it into a more powerfull throwing weapon. Attracting people to the idea aswell to find out the possiblity of making one when they see it being used in action. The fire could have MANY good usages for tactic and killing etc. How to get: - Empty whiskey bottle + Fuel + Bandage = Molotov. Effect on players: - Trapping them in houses. - Diverting them to other directions. to make them move into a trap etc. - Burning them. lol - Blinding night vision users. - Also something to distract heat vision users. Effects on zombies: - A good weapon against a group of zombies. - A good weapon against zombie trains. - People could lure there zombie trains into the fire for amazing fun and good useage. - Vehicle can "Park" Itself taking 60 seconds to achieve. and then its placed solid with camo net around it. This gives it extra protection but it does leave it unmobile allowing other players to loot it and not allowing others to escape with it too quickly. - Vehicle can be locked. when player thinks about shooting it alarm goes off alerting ALLOT of other players + Zombies. (I think this is good because you almost never find vehicles. And if you do. others could find out about it also right away allowing every player to come and find it when you decide to break in one) This does not apply to all vehicles ofcourse. Different Types of Zombies: - Zombies that you know hear better. So that makes sneaking more important. - Zombies that you know are more aggro to flashlight. So you dont shine it at them - Zombies that run faster that you. so that you know you can hardly outrun them and have to use bushes etc. (i know they already do but i think they should always hit you not miss you constantly) - Bigger and smaller zombies. Physically bigger and smaller that is. Maybe a big muscular one that is strong and a scary kid one. - More scary effects given by these zombies like loud screams etc. so that you know where worse zombies are and allowing you to avoid them etc. giving more power to sneaking. Why different types of zombies? Because i think it gives you more interaction in the learning part. You will have to learn about the zombies making you feel more connected into the game. and other players could tell you this and it would spark more conversation in the game about zombies and different tactic ideas etc. creating more realism and conversations around the whole zombie thing. I really like the idea Rocket has about the game and the fact that you have to have knowledge yourself and that its based on the skills of the players and not leveling and all that kindof crap etc. its very realistic. So i also think this effect of different types of zombies would amplify that it is all due to knowledge you have about it and skills you learned that makes you and your team better at surviving DayZ! A funny story about this is that i was playing with my brother online. and my brother asked which way east was. My dad was standing in his room and he said. What time is it in the game. my brother told him and my dad pointed out which direction he had to go by the shadow. He is an old timer alright. My dad never plays games and he thought this game was very cool and interesting and he liked the fact that his knowledge imediatly had a big impact on this game. And last but not least: - The sounds for sneaking i dont find very realistic and are too loud. You can hear peoples steps wayyy to good. not giving a realistic idea about your sneaking. and making it really hard to sneak up on someone.

Yogscast spawned weapons and Admin Help?
[email protected] replied to TiredEthan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Their videos were dishonest. Unless you're playing off peak with a friendly hacker giving you items and vehicles, the game isn't going to be anything like what you saw in the videos. -
I just thought it would be a nice realistic idea (If it's even possible to be done with the scripting and all) I would think that being able to shoot out of a van or bus would be a nice feature, it could add an advantage to the people in the car in a situation like being shot at by a group of bandits and instead of hopping out or risking driving away, they could drive as well as shoot making it an even playing field.

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
[email protected] replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I disagree that we shouldn't have heatmaps. Depending on how the heat map is generated, the entire map will show some level of heat. There is well over 50 servers, over 25k concurrent players, and over 100k in a day. This means that several 100k peoples data is going to be in there. I do agree that displaying tents or vehicles on a heatmap is retarded. And you probably shouldn't show alive people. If its by living locations: A few people with their predicted set of movements would be impossible to discern. The chances of special spots being revealed is somewhat possible if you spend more than 50% of the time there with a ton of people. Large camps in unknown areas with large amounts of clan members could be displayed. If its by human deaths: No problem here unless you hold suicide parties in camps. If so... wtf anyways :/ If its by zombie deaths: No problem unless zombies are nearby a camp? Probably not a good camp location if they are. -
I am haveing a lot of issues with my DayZ server. The first problem is ever since the last DayZ update the server has not been saving gear in tents and vehicles properly. Sometimes it duplicates the items, other times it deletes them. The second issue is the last Arma2 beta has totally screwed the server. There is now major desync to the point where it is almost unplayable. I have redownloaded all of Arma2 and the DayZ files in an attempt to fix the desync, however it only made it slightly better. My server was running extremely smooth with 0 save issues, 0 desync ever for almost three weeks up until these last three days. I have checked my dedicated box from top to bottom and can not find any changes that would cause any problems like this. I have reinstalled Arma2 and DayZ twice now, installed multiple betas hopeing to find one that works and nothing seems to fix the issues. I was thinking something went wrong with the entire box but all the other game servers, teamspeak and websites all work fine. Any suggestions as to what to check/do would be a great help.

With the whole class thing or getting skills after spawn as you play..... I would say the best would be skills are gained by finding things that can help teach you to read stars or hint on how to combine items to make a homemade trap or diversion tactics. I can see some skill set learned in the more traditional way but mainly focus on repairing vehicles or generators. Basically something that can make you more valuable alive verse dead.

When i first started DayZ I thought WOW! Battlefield 3 was a total failure with 1km/1km (if lucky) maps and it seemed to take ages to run from Cherno to Elektro. Now, a week later I have logged 67 hours into the game (steam claims so) and the map is starting to feel VERY small (especially after I have stolen 5 vehicles now). You can run from Cherno airfield to the NWAF in 38minutes flat and 1 hour from cherno to north end of the map. Were there any plans to expand the map or anything of that sort?

I hate ATVs in Arma 2, they are anything but "All terrain Vehicles". You only have to drive them over a matchstick and they will flip over....

Me and friends have been on this server for a while and tonight hackers came in spawning vehicles and weapons. Ruined everything.

Ten Reasons why Kill on Sight is 'Realistic'
pooky (DayZ) replied to Rogo Ignoscant's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The ability to respawn changes the perspective on everything, in game each player is effectively a nobody. They have no past, no mother, no family or relatives and you know that when they die, they will come back to life sans their items. You can't recognise them as a person, most people look the same due to the engine and lack of customization, and after all we all consciously know this is just a game. Is it really that hard to get back items? It's just a matter of time, maybe a few hours to get some good items again. Furthermore, when you have accumulated some nice gear what else are you going to do than start picking fights? Wander aimlessly collecting water and beans? That's not much of a game, and eventually the zombie aspect becomes greatly trivialised. And really, due to respawns death really has very little consquence for the dealer or the receiver. In real life people are thinking about the future, how they want to live, how they can be safe and how they can protect what they care about. In this game, the loftiest goal is finding some rare guns or vehicles and keeping them, and knowing that it doesn't matter if you die because you can always find another. Stealing and killing are things that do happen in real life, and when presented the opportunity it's surprising what people will do when they think they can get away with it. However, in general people tend to try to avoid trouble as it often has a funny way of blowing up in your face. What we are seeing is really the result of having an online game, with a primary focus of guns, where there is not much left for players to do in the end game, and the survival aspect of the game is actually rather easy. Of course people start going around looking to PvP, what else is there to do? It doesn't reflect much on what would happen in reality, because it is nothing close to it. -
And he means lightly lol. I'd hate to hear about you blowing up two vehicles while trying to fix one.. It would make a funny story though. :D

[SAS] clan may be cheating on their own server.
Kashus replied to dlp12's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Of course you don't care. You have 2 helicopters to fly around the map and loot all the tents/vehicles since they pop on the radar. -
I think that having an armed vehicle would be way too ... unfair? I mean, I get that the game has no balance in mind whatsoever. But it would just be mayhem if you and a friend could drive around in almost complete safety (most players couldn't hit the side of a barn in a real fight, let alone a quickly moving target) shooting and killing absolutely everyone you came across. No. Pickup trucks without guns, sure. Armed vehicles? No.
-
You popped in and out from the lobby right after server restarted first time. You were in the game at the time, then the minute we got back in to use our vehicles, the server goes down again just before we could get away, and that "clan" that came online and fooked ur base, was us. then right after that server is messing with us. Videos beeing uploaded as we speak. Regards Peew P.s - the unfriendly attitude is not appreciated, douche.
-
Sigh. You do realize you were never meant to traverse the whole of Chernarus on foot right, you'd be doing it in vehicles as it is a military simulator. Also an idea like this might put of more casual users, that aren't used to mechanics like this, I get what you mean though OP.

Team of 5 disconnecting in the middle of firefight at DE 373
treshold82 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Team of 5 members disconnecting when fired at :D Super hilarious, too bad nobody from our team had Fraps on. Basically we spotted stash of vehicles in the middle of the plains. One of us went to check out them while others were overwatching and all of those vehicles were in need of some repairing and lacked of gas. We were thinking of most convenient solution as single survivor approached cars. As we decided to take him out, more people appeared and suddenly there were 5 survivors humming around vehicles. They were clearly repairing the V3S truck and few of them were prone and watching so we started firefight. Some of them were dropped and rest of them were running and POOF, all gone :D V3S got badly hit and was on flames so we decided to get out of the server since most probable those dudes woulda server hop behind us. Firefight started intense and it was pretty lame experience since it ended up like that. Well lesson learnt - headshots only+make every bullet hit hard :)
