Do servers that patch the game reset vehicles? Or did ours get Stolen
Smacked posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Instead of looking for my Offroad Pickup Truck for another 30 minutes I need to know if it got reset or stolen. What happened: So I parked my Truck in a spot in a forest then saved it. About an hour later I get in it and drive close to Povereka. Then the server admin states on Global Chat that this server going to update or whatever. I already hid my truck a bit and started to run back to save it but was too far away and the server got updated. So After a long ass run to where it was previously saved I can't really find it anywhere. Although the area where I hid it is pretty big. So now I need to know, is my vehicle gone for good and reset somewhere, or did someone steal it, or am I just not finding it? Server is US 607 Quick Edit, As I was running back the server DID restart once. -
- how do you get the goods safely to the island? Fishing boat (storage too small, no protection) - how do you organise the transition of goods from the truck to the island? The problem is - there is always a problem :) I think bandits are well able to raid armed trucks and ambush them properly. A Ural wouldn't have a chance against an army of bandits with military weapons, such as the M107. Armed vehicles might. And I have the solution for my suggestion. The BMP 1 or the AAV. It can swim, it has storage and is very difficult to stop and ambush. The main cannon could be disabled to keep things fair. Trades could even be done inside the BMP. You would have one vehicle as the carrier and one for the trades. After the deal is negotiated the goods are transfered from the carrier vehicle. Problem solved without introducing anything that isn't available right now or would add further to the lag problems. BTW, I don't see why trading should only be open to civilians. Bandits can trade, as long as they adhere to the same rules. Is there even a way to keep them apart? I never know how you can figure out someone is a bandit.

Whisky Bottle + Jerry Can + Matches = Molotov!
Zarozz replied to Zarozz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
not sure if the game engine makes it possible to combine items like this but it would be cool. Maybe the Bottle could be missing parts like vehicles... and we add matches and jerry can. -
New player looking for DayZ team mates (UK)
edandrew95 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have a group of people atm, we play on UK servers, we've got vehicles. Cars, vans, boats. Ghillie suits. But I don't know if we're allowing others to join us.. -
Vehicles spawn with random stuff in em alot of the time, as for the frags save them for the barracks, handy if someone is in there and you don't want him to be ;)
-
What do I propose? A very rare spawn vehicle tracker that can be placed on any vehicle. The location of that vehicle will be shown on your map at all times. What would this be used for? -Keeping track of vehicles that you or your friends use in case they are stolen. -Make sure broken vehicles are still where they spawned, or discover they were repaired and moved. -Placing on an enemy team's vehicle to track them back to their camp or stalk them. Thank you.

A reason why it works with the medics and not with traders is: someone who trades would need a great deal of storage. The coyote bags hold a maximum of 2 rifles and you would have to carry one more rifle and the mags on you. It is clearly more easy to carry medcine and blood, since they only take up 1 slot each. If a trader takes a truck he will get shot at and become one of the most valuable loots to bandits. What would be possible is a trading convoy that moves among the main roads every once in a while. I am slowly becoming less reluctant to using a non automated mechanism to establish trade. However, I still see it as doubtful to call something "more" realistic when you have to jump onto a forum and make an appointment with the medic/trader, so he will show up in game. That is not exactly the native solution I had in mind when starting this thread - but it is a compromise. I think trader vehicles should be recognizable (e.g MTVR or HMMWV), then this could work. It should also be commonly agreed that players who attack traders or interfere with trading will not be "served" in the future. This goes for bandits as well as civilians. Alright then, lets organise some kind of trade and ask Rocket, if he will allow special vehicles for the purpose. Those vehicles would only be available at a fixed date of the month/week, so trading could be done on sundays and after that the vehicles will disappear again. During trade in progress there is a seize fire and you can use the opportunity to chat.

Played for about a month, looking for a friendly clan. Solo gets boring and while I often find people to play with, I have not been part of a clan yet. Why a clan? I want to play with a lot of trustworthy people and I want a place to park vehicles. How hostile I am? I'm paranoid as hell, I will likely shoot on sight or run unless the clan discourages that behavior. I prefer first person only servers and I really like night time. I wish night vision was removed though. Anyways, my favorite Day Z weapons include the Lee enfield, M107, M240, M249, M24. Good weapons I can't tolerate: Most AKs...omfg I hate those iron sights. I'm on US east and I prefer to play in the evening and night.

What is there to do..?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wander around the north parts of the map and stumble onto vehicles, tents, camps, maybe even other survivors. Sneak into Cherno and loot some buildings, even if you don't need anything. Being in a high risk area like that plays with the emotions. Find a boat and check out the islands. Collect as much ammo as you can and then declare war on the infected. You're only limited by your own imagination. -
First, it's going to be a long post, if you're looking for a fight and can't read more than 5 sentences in a row, go to one of the whine threads. Second, I am well aware this is an alpha. But giving feedback is what testers do during alphas. Third, this is about gameplay, I'm going to ignore all the bugs, hax, disconnects and whatnot. The gameplay looks sort of like this. (stage1) You start the game, you don't know really what to do (especially if you haven't played arma2, you might have a problem with controls), you aggro a lot of zombies, you spray bullets at them, you can't really find anything good and you constantly get either eaten by zeds cause sooner or later they break your legs or you get shot. Probably by snipers in cherno/electro. Then you figure out how to sneak and where to look for the things you need. After a quick snoop you stay away from the coast, you get some decent guns and know how to survive. (stage2) You get a handle of things and are pretty comfortable with the game although paranoid of getting sniped. Your last attempts at being friendly resulted in getting shot in the face so now you just shoot first . You visit stary and maybe even NW airfield. You set up a tent(s) and start bringing things there. (stage3) You and your group has been hauling military loot to your camps so much that there is no point looking for more. (I have a frigging list of servers with coords of camps and vehicles noted.) Now a question arises. Since you don't need anything else what do you do? Fight zombies? What zombies? Those skippy trifling things that pose no challenge? Why? They don't have any loot and killing them is just annoying. It's like fighting moskitos. And most of the time you treat them just like that, if they are following you, you just keep going and loose them. Once you get a hold of how they work, you don't ever have to shoot them (the only thing they are good at is indicating if there are players in a town you're approaching). If that's not a challenge then what? I know, PvP. Lets raid stary or cherno or electro. And that's the final stage of the game, PvPing without caring about dieing since you have a ton of weapons stacked in camps. But it gets dull. I mean the firefights might be more intense because you're actually penalized for death but, you could be just playing arma2 or some other shooter. The gameplay in the endgame is like taking quake, making a very large map, putting weapons, health and armor here and there with some really weak bots guarding them, and that's it. Is it really that different gameplay-wise? Just deathmatching in hotspots. It can be so much more (and I hope it will). Right now there is no social interactions in this game. The only way we're communicating with strangers is by sending them bullets. And that's because there is just no reason not to kill everyone on sight. Not only you get their loot but they can't kill you if you kill them first. If you don't want quake on a large map there has to be an encouragement to group up or/and discouragement to kill everyone you see. Wouldn't it be much more interesting if the game would mostly be about survivors grouping up against bandits who are constantly hunting and infiltrating them? And I know it's a sandbox. But "sandbox" implies you can do what you want, you have multiple choices and all of them viable. I know we should be making our own story. But here aren't many things to do here. People do what benefits them the most. And right now it's killing. Not only it's challenging but it gives you better gear. The point is: there needs to be something to do other than mindless pvping once you no longer need to look for loot. The game feels empty in the end game. I've heard there are going to be camps? How's that going to work with being able to change servers? The standalone is looking promising, but in order for camps to work the characters would have to bound to the server and the server would have to be much larger. I just feel that the gameplay is boring and not really satisfying after you get good at the game. Is it me? Is PvPing on a large map with scarce weapons and supplies really good and I'm just expecting too much? You know, I signed up for a zombie apocalypse survival, not Free For All Deathmatch on a large map where zombies are barely affecting the gameplay.

What is there to do..?
[email protected] replied to BuddyMcFriend's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Problem is when he logs off people can get there. Most AWESOME thing ever would be making a base with about 25 players, and make sure there are ALWAYS people in it guarding it. That way you have an epic base where you park vehicles and have tents, lol. -
So me and a few guys i play with were playing on nz20 the other night and we had been paying for a period of about 4 or 5 hours in electro pvping, which includes dying and we all waiting for our mate to get back to his gear. Anyway we finally all get our gear back and decide to go to cherno, on our way we get ambushed by 3 guys with silenced m4s and we got smashed, dead before we knew what happened. So i decide to see where i spawn if it is in a good position i would play for a bit longer, i ended up spawning about 400 meters from where we were killed. I crept up too where our group was killed to find out how we all died. As I prone towards the area 2 UAZ's pull up next to me, then 2 guys in ghillie suits got out and told me to pvp with them and they gave me a silenced m4 from 1 of their UAZ's. They then told me to loot one of mates bodies so i obliged thinking i can just get it back to my mate later. As i was looting him a 3rd guy in ghillie suit drives up in a bus. I get told to get in the bus and we drive away. I took this opportunity to alt tab and open my fraps and this is the rest of the night. (this is where all the hacking took place and our realisation of it by the things we find and see. (also a couple of dayz earlier i saw a big cloud of smoke above cherno i went to investigate and it was the remains of a crashed a-10. I forgot to mention while we were in electro the same night as these events there were 3 small boats,1 pbx and an ammo crate in between the 2 fire stations in the field.) Link to Vid of night - Unfortunately i don't know the names of the hackers, but i believe one of the guys in ghillies had the name GTE-noscope.

How vehicles work: The server is restarted (sometimes, I think, by arrangement so the people in the know get the vehicles) Then the vehicles spawn, and people grab them and go hide them. Looking at the supposed spawn points is almost useless. Look in the woods, particularly along the west edge of the map.

Are Hackers only seen by PVPer's?
[email protected] replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Saw a guy by the name of Sketty today. He shot our friend in our campsite, as two of us were just coming back from a supermarket run, so we changed course and approached from a different direction where we'd have a good overview of what was going on down there. My friend and I see nothing moving down there, we scan our vehicles, when one suddenly drives off. We jump in our jeep and try to cut him off. We "succeed". Succeed in that he finds us. My friend unloads close to a full clip of M107 with the AS50 into the drivers seat, and we both see blood. But the truck keeps moving so we shoot it apart whilst he is in it. He gets out, but we have no other visual confirmation for this but the fact that we see moving blood spurts, so we just go trigger mad. Predator style. All of a sudden, our jeep starts driving off. We shoot that up too, and blood spurts come out again. The server restarts. Phew, all our stuff was still fine when we got back, but that almost sucked major balls. Sorry for terrible punctuation and other forms of literal suckiness. -
I have been trying to find a vehicle for a while now and the only I did find disappeared from a server restart. I have checked like 8 different spots on the dayzdb map and some of the spots I checked on a couple different servers. None of the servers had vehicles in any spawns and even one of the servers was a brand new server and all 6 spots I checked had nothing. How do vehicles work in this game? Do they just spawn at their spots on the dayzdb map and stay there till a player takes them? Do they respawn? Finally, If I really want to get a vehicle and have all the parts needed where is a definite spot I could go to in order to find one?

Biggest/best camp you've found so far?
Izithel replied to mind_grenade's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Damn, I should hunt up north more often, but I just don't have the patience for it. I got no pics but the biggest camp I ever found was at the middle western part of the map on top of a hill, 2 vehicles and a shit load of tends, not all filled tough. Damn, I wish I could have one of those M16A4 ACOG guns, or the M4A1 SD... -
I've been playing on one particular server for a few days and I've found some nice stuff (vehicles), so needless to say I'm quite eager to play on that particular server again. The issue is that now when I join it, my FPS is very low. Like, in the 1-5 range. Normally I get over 50 FPS when out in the woods, which is where I am, and when I was playing on the very same server earlier today and yesterday I was getting perfectly fine performance. I've joined other servers and I get fine performance there, too. Does anyone know what is going on here and if so how can it be fixed? Obviously it's quite impossible to play with such lag. It is simply very unpleasant and I've grown rather attached to my ATV and all the stuff inside of it. I'm running the steam version, and launch the game using six launcher. Windows 7 64 bit, nVIDIA GTX 250 GPU. Thank you in advance (hopefully...)

"Save Old Bike" doesn't do shit...
athrins replied to austendude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've never been able to keep a vehicle for more than a day/play session. Tents sometimes save, sometimes wiped of contents and sometimes they just disappear completely. The only items I've ever been able to keep for more than ~2 days are the ones I'm carrying with me, but even then they sometimes just disappear. Kind of makes me want to log off and just wait for the standalone. I want to survive, (re)build and settle down in the game, not just running around looking at the same trees, houses, loot spawns and the occasional bandit every time I play. My play sessions nowadays consists of running and running for hours on end just looking for the rare sight of survivor camps and vehicles, because it's more dynamic than raiding the supermarket for the 354468413th time, picking up the same loot from the same spawns and using the loot for the same things every. single. time. Eating beans, drinking cokes, throwing cans, ignore the rest because I already have all I need to survive. I'm trying to be creative, but playing alone really doesn't allow for much exciting experiences when all there is to do is jerk around with friends and organizing events. Organizing my one-man-army isn't very rewarding or challenging, not to mention the conversations between me and myself are growing thin when there isn't much new information to be process around me. I'm just hoping for the few dynamic mechanics there are to be more stable and reliable. Building a camp of tents, wires and sandbags(of which I haven't found a single one in over 200h of gameplay) is better than to just keep running around trees. tl;dr: I'm bored with the game, but too stubborn to accept the sad truth that the game is too static and repetitive in its current state. -
The expedition to kill 2 people
TheLoneRanger (DayZ) replied to MajesticShitstain's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yep. Hacked vehicles are more common that the regular ones. Last night hackers spawned a tractor, UAZ, 4-5 A-10s, a dirtbike, and a Huey at Elektro on a server, then left (or were banned). Also my buddy found a UAZ earlier near Elektro (different server) that was out of Gas (we thought it was legit) that disappeared with most of our stuff on a server restart. As for the OP, I guess you're wanting confirmation that you're a douchebag, because I don't know what else you're looking for. Congrats on using the hacked vehicles too. -
DE10 - Server Thread <(^-^<) <(^-^)> (>^-^)>
Trowa replied to caspar's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Unplayable lag tonight that's only effecting the zombies. I'd shoot a zombie with a 1911 and instead of killing it it would just agro, in that particular case i shot it twice more at point blank with all 3 shots hitting and showing a blood splat, zombie then knocks me out and I die with my friend not able to do anything. Previous to that a zombie absorbed 5 shots before randomly de-agroing my friend and walking off, I should have logged off then. We also had a zombie agro from far away, run all the way up to us, take a shot to the chest making a noise, then turn around and walked off. On the bright side my long trip back to base in a straight line made me stumble into a players tractor which I filled up and stole, the jerk then fired a bunch of shots at me hitting me for a whopping 1k blood. :D A few minutes later I found a helicopter crash site with a 3 mag FAL and a M249 with 1 mag, so all I have now is a fine collection of vehicles and some heavy weapons, no food, no water and no equipment  -
Saturday 7/21: Today's play saw Four return to Chopper Alley. Heading west through the Old Fields area, he hit a deer stand south of Prud, where he located a DMR. This is a very nice long range weapon - like the M14, only featuring a magnified sniper scope. I couldn't resist. I headed Four into the trees, where he changed into his camo clothes, then discarded his old civilian clothes, STANAG SD mags (*sigh*), and a dose or morphine. Then back to the stand to claim the DMR and one magazine. Four carries three primary weapons once more. From there he continued west south of Kabanino to the deer stand at Veresnik. Still no choppers! Chopper Alley wasn't living up to its name today. From Veresnik, the plan next was to head W-NW toward the trees lining the western edge of the map, cutting between Vybor and Pustoshka and taking a last look about for crash sites in the process. But upon breaking free of the treeline surrounding Veresnik, I spotted a tractor parked close by in the fields. At first I just noted its presence and kept Four moving, but after a few more steps I stopped him and turned about. Why not? Four's entire life consists of jogging around at a crouch with a pack full of military hardware. He deserves a break - he's probably got the mother of all blisters on his feet by now from so much moving about on foot. Besides, the open ground between his present location and the trees at the western edge of the map eliminate any sense of secrecy or stealth, so I really wouldn't be adding much risk by throwing in a little noise to boot. Four hopped in. As has been his experience with all of the other vehicles he's encountered, this one had fuel and was in workable condition. He started it up and headed west. This was more like it! I made sure to give anything resembling a building an extremely wide berth so as to avoid any zed aggro. After crossing the road between Vybor and Pustoshka, I needed to veer a bit left to stay in the clear. There was a wooden railing situated next to a line of small trees which began where the railing ended, but it looked like I'd be able to squeeze between the end of the railing and the start of the foliage. There was one very small shrub there, but running over that shouldn't present any problem at all. Wham! Whoops. The shock icon appeared on screen, and the engine stopped. I'd lost a couple thousand points of blood. Evidently that shrub was more of an obstacle than I'd imagined. A tractor killer, even. Oh well, so much for the joyride. I activated the mousewheel menu to get out, and noticed a "shut engine off" entry there. Four's accident had killed the tractor, but did I still need to turn the engine off? I was considering this when it happened. BLAM! The tractor exploded. Four was now outside of it, bleeding, ~3.8k blood, and promptly passed out. A long one too - that hourglass was filling *very* slowly. Oh, man. All of the things he's done, the places he's been, the equipment he's salvaged, and it's going to end like this? As I watched the hourglass and his blood level steadily declining, trying to determine which out of a return to consciousness or death from blood loss was more likely to occur first, I began to eulogize Four in my mind. How would I spin this? I couldn't, really - this was a moron's death. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. ...to be continued Health: 3800 and dropping fast Zeds/Survivors/Bandits killed: 451/0/0 Future goals, in order of priority: Be less dead.

DE 461 Apparently a new server, the three players using the [sPTD] tag on DE 461 decided to kick any other players that joined their server. One can only assume it is so they can gear themselves and take a large number of vehicles on their server. http://i.imgur.com/V7wyO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mKzq1.jpg DE 620 Previously a normal server with standard player caps (40 I believe), this server has recently dropped to being capped at the number of players present - currently 3/3. http://i.imgur.com/PurG7.png

I kinda want four things mostly to make me stay on one server..... 1) Fixed Tent so that items dont dispear sometimes when servers restarted by admins. 2) Ability to set a Tent being ur respawn, So if you die, you can respawn at ur tent or option to respawn randomly along the coast. 3) Ability to Destroy Tents with Crowbars/Hatchets. (just explosives is kinda pain to find sometimes) Than items from tent all burst around the place were tent was destroyed + Player loses their respawn place. (Ability to pick up destroyed enemy's tent as ur own) 4) Make vehicles not dispear or despawn after server restart or/and respawn rate of repairable vehicles being once every 30mins, byicles 1h+, helicopters once a day in random location. I had ATVs couple times now after hunting them down despawn on me on couple servers and taking them to safe location, after putting alot of work searching for them. (usually do it to pick up my friends along coast and take them to my tents to re-equip) Also couple of my friends unable to play at dark due to their bad computers, so sometimes we have to move around looking for day light server. (while i enjoy playing in dark in DayZ, i like playing with my friends more) 5) Fix Item not spawning on ground glitches, their alot of servers out their that dont spawn items on ground, or just backpacks. I mean if i see nothing, even empty cans in a gorcery store their a problem.... (in Bastnio only one gorcery store usually has items the other one is glitched with nothing in it)

The expedition to kill 2 people

How the hell do you people find so many god damn vehicles ? I call bullshit on that, i barely found a dirtbike and a gaz and stole some other vehicles from obvious camps. But to find SO MANY CARS just sitting around fields and streets, i can't really believe that.
