My two most fail deaths. -- The time I died of thirst, I had crawled all the way to a lake and then just ended up crawling up and dying next to it. BECAUSE APPARENTLY I NEED A CANTEEN TO STICK MY FACE IN THE WATER AND DRINK. -- Logged in, was in the middle of the wilderness, see a tractor. Proceed to get insanely excited over said tractor, not realizing somebody abandoned it because it was dangerously low on health (or whatever health is for vehicles) I bump it against a tree slightly and it blows the fuck up with me in it.

I am asking all willing players to become the Rapid Response team. I have been betrayed and so has my group. Another group [who we were allied with before this incident] has become the enemy. We shared a base with them that included a URAL, a VS3, two tractors, one hatchback, one white pickup-truck/ute, a van and some other vehicles. The loot includes all end-game equipment. We have at least one of every weapon. Multiple L58A2 AWS's, multiple M107's and AS50's, etc. So I ask of you, when I update in the forum including the server name, to put yourselves on standby if you want this equipment and/or vehicles. Wipe out all who oppose. If you would be kind enough, please make your character white or black with blue facepaint, so my group and I can differentiate between our betrayers and you. There will be blood, there will be tears. Some will go home happily equipped; some with nothing. People will die. So I ask of you, my fellow DayZ companions, to vanquish my ex-allies. Leave none alive. The co-ords are 064, 004. Operation Vanquish is at the ready, and I will notify you all when it is executed. The post will be titled "Operation Vanquish" and the tags will be the Co-ords and the server name, so you need not even open the post. I'm not forcing people to do this, and you are not my personal army. P.S. There are also 10+ ghillie suits and 20+ NV Goggles at the base. Enticing, eh? EDIT: One of the enemies in the group is also a server admin [lool] so you need to do it fast and stealthily when I update everyone

Ok what we have here folks is a list, compliled of many suggestions that have been made on the forum along with personal views of myself and clan members. I'll try not to make a wall of text here, but bring to light some of the topics we can discuss, and possibly provide constructive feedback and add any suggestions to what you would like to see DayZ become once it is a standalone product. Bear in mind, the views of I and my group are in the favor of realism, and we believe the game should stick to the "Zombie Apocolypse Simulator". But of course, any other feedback and suggestions are welcome. Lets begin... 1. Car keys, wheel boots, and hotwiring kits Do you like finding vehicles? How often does it usually take to repair it? Is it not a blast to ride around with your friends doing hoodrat things? Where do you hide your vehicles? Off the map? In the woods? Is it there when you log back in? These are a few of the questions that come to mind when I think about the current situation with vehicles in DayZ. With that being said, here are some suggestions that could make this area of the game better..Not enough vehicles/spawns as it stands, for one option we could ask that the amount of vehicles be doubled, or have methods of maintaining the vehicles we do find. See below... It has been brought up many times about keys for the vehicles because lets face it, if we are shooting for realism here, Im not leaving the keys inside my hatchback stocked full of AKs and Beans when I go to sleep for the night. The way to counter this however would be hot wire kits (rare spawn) Wheel boots or steering wheel locks would also be an idea to prevent others from driving off with your car and all the stuff inside, of course this could also be countered using the toolbox, OR have the ability to take parts OFF of a vehicle. To be honest if me and my buddies spent time putting the car together, you should have too as well. Vehicles should explode and immediately respawn when driven outside of map boundaries, point blank period. I know many of the trolls here will say "Well if I cant drive off with your vehicle, I will just blow it up!" Well sir, I say unto you....Good, because I would rather all my stuff explode in a pillar of flame than to have you and your group of ragtag idiots stumble upon my hatchback (full of AKs and beans) and take the magical skeleton key not listed in your inventory to drive off with others hard earned stuff. It may be the nature of DayZ not to get used to your gear, however lets shoot for the idea of realism. 2. Minimize loot to maximize loot points As it stands, it kinda sucks that not all houses are lootable. We all know what buildings to look for and whats likely inside those buildings. Maybe in the future of the game we could possibly see some of the suggestions below...All buildings can be entered, the loot however will not always promise a sweet new gun or that canned goods your so desperately searching for. Containers! Would definately like to see lootable objects (Cabinets, dressers, lockers, etc) Not too many points to add to this one folks, I'm sure everyone wants to be able to enter any building not just for looting purposes, but also to provide more cover from Zeds and PvP. This suggestion would definately make things more interesting. 3. Zombies are not a threat Run into a building to slow them down, spray bullets, ????, profit... amirite? Right now in the games current state, your biggest threat is other players. As a note here, I am fully AGAINST nerfing or punishing bandits in any way, your choices should be free to do as you wish. Instead of everyone beating the same dead horse about punishing bandits and the like, think outside of the box for a moment. Look very closely over these next suggestions, the end results may just get all you whiners your real bandit nerf, with some side effects of course...In most zombie lore, it is required to sever the brain stem in order to fully kill a zombie. In some cases, a well placed body shot can down a zombie for a brief period of time, or a shot to the lower limbs can dismember a zombie leaving them crawling. Right now there are some mechanics to this in the game, headshots are overkill even with a Makarov, and sometimes zombies are left crawling after a couple body shots. Cool, would like to see this built onto more, but without the body kills. No amount of body shots can truly kill the zed, only a headshot. Those in opposition of the first point made, perhaps you would just prefer the pathing to be fixed in the future to make zombies able to run indoors and uphills. I understand some people feel the zeds would be too hard with headshots given theire speed and movement patterns, but with the pathing fixed we would be less likely to see the zigzagging and glitchy zombies making it a little easier to down a zombie with 2 shots to the chest, and finish them off with one to the head. Of course we could bring up the point of a stamina meter that is effected by the weight of what your character is carrying at the time, any thoughts? Making zombies harder will prevent reckless banditry, who wants to take the chance of shooting a flashlight wielding shore humper when it has the potential to attract a boatload of "hard as shit to kill" zombies? I wouldnt even waste my ammo on them... It has been mentioned before about hordes of zombies in the fields and woods, just wanted to point out that I love that idea! Difficult zombies will promote teamwork! I like this suggestion here as well http://dayzmod.com/f...reased-numbers/ 4. Seasons Change Who wouldnt like to see some seasons and weather effects? Here are a couple suggestions to take into consideration!Weather effects to match up with time and date! If its January 5th 2013 lets see that tempature gauge go down, lets implement some clothing for our survivors to battle the elements! Heatpacks might become more useful, as well as campfires! If its mid July like it is now, we should be required to maintain our thirst a little more due to the heat. 5. Too easy to come by Everyt bit of loot is far to easy to come by. After a death, I can quickly scrounge up food to survive and weapons to combat zombies, as well as matches, backpack, and tools to survive in the wild in a matter of 10 minutes. In this section I will cover some of the issue with loot and possible measures to combat it.Making food and soda more scarce, but decrease the need to eat and drink. We as humans consume 2 to 3 meals per day and usually have between 5 to 8 beverages a day, given the climate and conditions we are under the need may exceed those statistics. Has anyone ran a 24 hour DayZ Marathon to test exactly how much a character eats and drink within that time frame? Maybe have a system where hunger and thirst persist through logout, not to log on and find your character dying of course, but to have to immediately find food and drink before that process can begin. Of course this suggestion is all just speculation, just seems like while playing, your character needs too eat and drink entirely too much, which would result an abundance of loot spawns to satisfy our tummies. Canteens should yield more than one drink as well. Making ammo more scarce could have a positive impact for all the bandit whiners out there, or could go in a negative way and cause more banditry, here is why. With little ammo loot spawns, one would not dare waste his ammo to kill another survivor and attract zombies ( See #3) given he only has one extra mag in his AKM, on the other side of the coin however, if you are low on ammo you could always hack another person to pieces with an axe or waste some Makarov mags to see if he's carrying any AKM mags in his backpack. This one is a bit touchy but all in all, my opinion sways towards making ammo and guns more scarce. More melee weapons plz!!! I should be able to use that hunting knife to do some stabbings! Which brings up an interesting point in the toolbelt, why switch out the pistol to use an axe? Can't I just holster the pistol, keep the AK on my backpack and use the hatchet to axe a zombie some questions? 6. Boarded Windows and Fortifications Lets face it, who doesnt want to make a fortification or hole up in a building and fight off other players and zombies. While the idea of tents are amazing, so we can store our loot, it is not a failproof way of stopping thieves or server bugs from eating all your valuables. Here are a couple points in regards to this that come to mind.Modifying spawn points for zombies so they do not spawn within 100 meters or on top of players that may use a building as a fortification. Implement hammer and nails (one time use for nails) along with wood or you gather using hatchet or scrap metal to board up windows and doors. Windows fortified so you cant get shot through them once boarded up, and doors so that the building cannot be accessed from outside unless the door takes damage from a firearm or hatchet swings. (SWAT Battering Ram maybe?) Setup your tents inside fortifications for added protection or place items in containers within the building (see #2) Park vehicles inside large enough fortifications. Garage doors can be fortified using scrap metal! Toolbox needed to take down metal fortifications, Axes and firearms to destroy wooden fortifications! 7. Shooting a shotgun while riding shotgun I'm gonna start spouting off a few minor suggestions here, because I want to leave this thread open for all to post suggestions, but c'mon man! Shooting while riding shotgun would be the ultimate high of this game, do some driveby zambie shoostings?! Of course you know all the suggestions named above along with this one would required some extensive work, but we can dream cant we? Shooting while riding shotty could provide a broad range of tactics and banditry. Circle towns honking the horn and blasting an 870 out of the passenger side while your buddies run in and load up on supplies...something so simple yet would bring so much to the table.8. Jerry Can + Empty Whisky Bottle = Molotov DUH! Can we get this please? It would be interesting to see some of that loot actually become useful other than distracting zombies that are just way too easy to kill anyway.9. Clunky inventory Hopefully in the standalone this will not be an issue. Items disappearing, the need to drop things to rearrange other things, etc. I think the inventory system as a whole needs a rework before anything goes live. If you have any reason to disagree with this one, I'd love to hear it.10. Servers as a whole Not 100% sure what the plan with the servers are but as it stand now, its one huge mess. Hackers, shitty admins, times not matching the server location, clans locking down servers and hiding all the good stuff, etc. It would be nice to see dedicated company run servers, and with the expansion of the map (fingers crossed) perhaps a higher player cap. Not sure what rocket plans to do with that, again this is just a suggestion, hold back the flames, you little trolls.11. Towing capabilities by thefishstick Some of the community would like the capabilities to tow vehicles as well, given that a hatchback isnt going to tow a Ural Civilian or anything like that, but I'm pretty sure the Ural Civ can tow the hatchback! This idea would also come in handy when you flip your ATV on the railroad tracks, hook up your vehicle to that bad boy using tow chains or a winch and give it some gas! Using one vehicle to tow a broken down vehicle would be a great way for teams to make sure there are enough seats available for travel, and lets admit, travel at this point is all about holding down that "W" key. (See #1) At the very least give us the ability to just flip ATV's over with our hands, I mean it is possible in real life.12. Fishing! by mark x I totally support this idea as well, it will give the bodies of water usefulness and lets not forget the boats! This is for all the folks out there that think you should have more animal spawns, why not just add some fish in the water! Fishing should require a fishing pole, bait, hunting knife, and matches and wood to cook it! Fishing also leaves you out in the open as well, so it could prove to be dangerous if there are bandits around. Not a bad method of finding food if you ask me.13. Character creation and clothing It would be kind of neat to be able to customize your character aside from the Male/Female option. Doesn't have too be too in depth but the ability to choose hair style, body type, or slap on a handlebar mustache for the kiddies. Also putting on basic clothing as well as finding additional clothing in game. I know the trolls might love to jump on this point here and start bashing but hey, what the hell could the system hurt? Maybe I want my guy to look like a bad ass bandit, maybe my clan wants to have our own bandanas and gang colors foo! When it rolls around to winter time (see #4) we may need some winter jackets and extra thick socks!14. Respawn button I know with the recent changes, the respawn button is disabled. I agree with this change for the sake of NOT being able to choose a spawn point, I just feel as if it creates a few more negatives that positive. Lets say for instance, my friends are in Berezino and I spawn in Kamenka...I'll run happily towards the zombies and sacrifice myself in order to see if I can catch a spawn at Three Valleys or Krutoy Cap. What if I spawn in debug forest? I just dont particularly see the resolution in this "disabling of the respawn button" other than more headaches. So below are a couple key points I would like to see happenVastly increase spawn points, to where at any given respawn you could spawn near any small town or landmark, not just the beach I know trolls, I know what you would say..."Well then that would just cause people to spam the respawn button over and over until they get exactly where they want to be!" I dont think you understand exactly how many places you could spawn on the map, but see below for another fix! After "Respawn" button is used once, cannot be used again for 10 minutes, ta-daaaa! I know...I's smart huh? If you end up in debug forest after that, then its your own fault...quit trying to find perfect spawn points you fackin scrub! If you would like to add or find a valid reason for removing any of the above suggestions then feel free to message me or reply to this thread in order to get your idea on the original post. Lets keep this going for the sake of seeing some of our ideas implemented into the future of the game!

Suggestion To Stop Boredom (Idea from Ammo) "Degrading Weapons"
[email protected] replied to ChinWooMan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Anything that forces me into going somewhere I'd rather not, whether it's for a new box of matches, a clean rifle that won't jam on me the next time I fire it or for a fresh canteen because my current one has become unusable because I filled it at a contaminated water hole or it's just developed a hole in it, is all good to me. Having the need to maintain or replace weapons and equipment, rather than just vehicles and ammo would be good. -
After my friends finally bought the game *waited on the steam sell* I decided I would make haste to go find them from my nice little hidey hole. My buddy had made it to cherno and up on a ladder at one of the cranes. The zombies were absolutley crawling around it. All I could imagine while he was talking to me over vent was the Benny Hill theme song.. I had not realized just how big a crowd he drew. I began taking them out slowly with the M1911 I had acquired saving my main ammo from the combat shotty for anything big later on. Cleared them and went up top. I gave him an extra makarov i had as well as other aminities. Everything was peachy so we decided to climb down and go inland to camp... Well I happened to hit V as i was on top of the ladder by accident.... By this time I was already yelling NO!NO!NO!NO!NO! over vent many times in succession. So having fell to my death(I had 9k blood) I told my friend to get my stuff and come meet me... He could not find the ladder down part walked to far forward broke a leg and had a bleed out. The second time comes from a trip we decided to take and grab supplies. After a god run we happened upon a car. Took it and on the way back found a broke bike. I was like holy crap were coming back for that. So took the car to camp and came back. Got side tracked on the way back and found a van. Double score. Took the van and said ok were not walking another 30 mins again just to get back to the bike. Went in town found some items fixed the bike drove to camp. So 3 vehicles in the matter of 3 hours of adventure not bad at all. I decided it was ADVENTURE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! We took the bike and like a merrily gay(happy) couple we were on our way, After a 10 min drive south east of Stary we find a downed helicopter. Hell it was my first time seeing one and he was still faily a noob. Going against my best instincts and being that only 15 people were on the server at the time I decided to check it out. Cleaning up the zombies he got hit and went down having his leg broke and knocked out. We both figured it was just the zombies but it turned out that a sniper had hit him. However it was not until I heard the gun crack and I myself was bleeding out that we knew what happened.... Goodbye motorcycle. I loved you so much.

i respect your opinion here, but in reality in a real apocalypse situation, especially one with zombie/infected, a perma tent wouldnt really work. your not likely to stay in the same place for long enough to utilize that. you arent going to be storing things in a tent. unless you can get some kind of stronghold, in which case you wouldnt need a tent anyway, you will likely be on the move for the foreseeable future, taking with you only what you can carry. fuel would run out rather quickly. even a siphon would have a limited viability, as fuel goes bad after a time.my vote goes to eliminating tents all together. it sure as shit would make dying horrible. no 30 min regear. would change some play-styles to actually try to survive. -but keep vehicles and storage in the vehicles. also, a body should despawn once the player respawns and becomes alive again, on the same server. its stupid that you can loot your own body. so having 10 clanmates guard your dead corpse so you can "reclaim" your gear would be gone.

Yes I run a dayz server, and I login to admin using #login password , and using #restart to restart the server. But my issue is every time I restart the server I lose items like tents are either gone or the items in the tents are gone, and vehicles that was found and saved are also gone. Any ideas why this is happening?

Realistic weapon drops and amounts! Hunting rifles should be more common than AKs!
taffer replied to hulahuga's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see less military weaponry. I'd like to see less spawns overall. More importantly, I'd like to see COMPLETELY random spawns so people aren't all forced into the same places. edit. that doesn't sound right. I mean I want it to be possible to find all the same things anywhere, so there's actually a reason to look at the little buildings, the little towns. Also, some more vehicles ffs. I can't find any. -
Thank you very much. But I have one more question: after not using vehicles or destroying do they dissapear? when after that they respawn?

The radar was revealing the positions of tents and vehicles.

]TPG[ Total Punishment Gaming - Community Recruitment
ctrl-alt-DESTROY! posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
]TPG[ is a casual, community-based gaming clan. We were started as a CS:S and TF2 clan, but we've since evolved and expanded into many other games, including DayZ. Of the games we play, we take DayZ the most seriously. That being said, we're about having a good time and surviving - not about being douches, We operate US106 (NJ3), a 40-man server based in New Jersey, and there are many members and regs playing throughout the day. While our community hails primarily from the USA's east coast, we have players from Canada, the UK, Malta, Belgium and Australia (and perhaps a couple more I forgot) We try not to shoot first and we generally respect anyone's coastal declarations of friendly. We like to work as a team to raid towns for gear, find and fix vehicles and the like. Most of our players have 6 or more weeks of experience, but we are happy to welcome anyone regardless of skill, experience or geographic location. So if you're looking for a group of active, mature, team-centric DayZ players to check out and maybe run with, point your browser to totalpunishmentgaming.com, join US106 (NJ3) (209.222.93.90:2302) and hop in our public teamspeak (209.222.93.90) to say hello - we'd love to meet you. If you aren't interested in joining our community, but are looking for a well-administered and constantly patched server I invite you to pop in and give our server a test drive. Our server auto-restarts at 8am/2pm/8pm in order to keep time desync and loot staleness at bay. If you would like to contact me about this post, or really anything at all, please feel free to do so via pm here (fair play - i check it fairly infrequently) or via steam (where you're much more likely to receive a quick reply). -
1. Cars are the best loot in the game (I'm sure you can guess why). Once someone finds a car, their mission is to repair as quickly as they can and get the fuck outta there. They drive the vehicle somewhere off in the woods (most likely at or near their camp) and use it when they need it. You have a better chance finding vehicles in the middle of no where, the good thing about this is that they will be fully repair and full of gas. 2. From what I've read or heard... if the car gets destroyed or is not used in 24 hours, it respawns at the original location. 3. No, cars are saved just like tents.

Anyone else running the 95310 build? The server I am playing on just wiped all my vehicles and tents. They didn't come back after a couple of restarts... wondering if 95310 has broken something as well... ~Sol

Looks like choppers will be returning in the next patch. That's awesome. What will you be doing with yours? I just know everyone wants one and has plans to acquire one. Only 3 or so per server? hmmm... someone will get left out lol. For someone who plays alone it doesn't make a lot of sense to even have one. What could you actually do with it? IF you managed to acquire a Huey how would you hang on to it for more than a few hours? I believe there are cheats that will allow people to snatch all the vehicles on the map so whats the point of getting one? So what's your plan for your shiny new bird?
-
nice, disagree with alot but what the heck :D but i kinda miss the part where vehicles shud be more abundant, zombie apocalypse? so, more vehicles, prolly with dead battery, flat tire, no fuel, its ridiculous to run around with 4 wheels, engine parts, scrap metal to fix one up, all i have found up to now is and shaggy old volkswagen, and u can't outrun zombies with that on rough terrain, ridiculous :) well, got lots more, what id like to see in this game, maybe i shud summon it up in the suggestion thread how much is even possible, considering the limitations of the game?
-
I like this idea with NPCs, but they should not be friendly. for example a camp would spawn on every restart (like helicrash site now) at a different location, mainly far north where hoarders make their camps, so it would fill out the void where basically nothing happens, there are only hoarders jerking over their collection of vehicles / tents. The camp would be guarded by 4-5 elite npcs with automatic weapons and sniper rifles so it would prove to be a challange to get in. The camp would spawn the same loot as barracks do, only with slightly increased chance for NVGs, Range finder and GPS.

contents of my tent has disappered
Sparky250 replied to haag963's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had this happen to me several times, but usually only after a server crashes or restarts. It only seems to effect tents though because all the loot sored in my groups vehicles was fine. Personally I will not trust tents again untill the next update at least. -
I hope not, it hasn't happened before although sometimes items stored inside vehicles disappear on a server restart. I know where a couple spawn if you want to team up some time :)
-
I've been playing DayZ for about a week getting quite good eq and exploring whole map. My problem is that i didn't see any car or bike to take (except one car that killed me). I know there are some threads about vehicles but i couldn't find clear answers for my questions. So please, if someone knows 1. Why couldn't I find any car during my game (I played on several differend servers)? 2. If someone takes car/bike from spawn will this spot spawn a new vehicle (in what cases)? 3. After a server restart do vehicles spawn on all spots immidiately?
-
Ok for years I have conceptualized my dream zombie game and this comes pretty close which is amazing just a few suggestions that I hope get added. 1. Some sort of ghillie netting that allows you to cover your vehicles making them almost unnoticeable from a distance. 2. Some way to show/gain/get trust from people, playing dayz there is nothing more I want that not feeling the need to blow someone's brains out everytime I see them, just saying friendly doesn't get any trust, not sure how to do this part to be fair, I suppose the beauty of dayz is you have a semi sandbox style game to take what you will (me personally am hoping to set up a trade outpost for people to come trade items i.e engine parts for things like food etc, we all need what others have got, obviously id have some friends with snipers with a clear headshot lined up for any funny business) 3. A party/gang system, you make buddies you want to add them to your party so you can just chat to your party and even respawn nearer to them (obviously disable party respawn if zombies and other non party players are nearby) 4. Equally to number 3 having custom spawn areas like barricading up a house somewhere and then it is your "safehouse" 5.As just suggested in 4 possibly having doors being barricade able and breakable (zombies smash through doors rather than opening/glitching through) I have many more thoughts and suggestions as well but for now lets hope this games becomes more amazing, time for me to sign out because im trying to get my hands on two ATV's.

look for vehicles or heli crash sites. AKM with 4 mags is far from "geared up" btw.

I was running around Chernogorsk when I saw a chopper flying about, not long after I got teleported to the debug-forrest along with everyone else and we were all goats, then we got tranformed into cows then into snipers. There were vehicles spawning and after that everyone spawned as snipers but with weapons, most of the players died in the chaos. Legitimate Victimization Thread / AKA Legitimate Bandits/Sociopaths
Cool Sam replied to Cool Sam's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I digress, the thread is/was geared for others to share their perverse tales. Apologies if it does not agree with your sensible palate. No need for personal attacks, sir. A bullet spent on a slave is not a wasted resource, and a kill count is an arbitrary distraction. The thrill of the hunt is what counts. Bearing that in mind, a small story. We captured two slaves last night. Lucky catch really. Drove along Cherno in the Slave Wagon...found two fresh spawns running along the coast. All their running and racket caught the attention of nearby Zeds. We did what any sensible slavers would do, we feigned rescue. "You guys sure are lucky we found you when we did." "Holy shit thanks. Where are we going?" the slave asked. "Taking you to our base. Get you guys geared." So we drove back to Bolota, parked in Hangar 1. We slavers always feel its proper to at least give our newest acquisitions a fair and honest rundown of their disposition once they're in our possession. "We have good news and bad news. The good news is that you're alive and in our care. The bad news is that you're our slaves and we will not hesitate to kill you for disobedience. We'll fix you up, and if you're good, you'll be fed and watered. If you're bad..." Our driver tends to be a little rough on our vehicles and we do our best to maintain them to the best of our ability. Sometimes this necessitates checking the suspension. "Lay on the ground. Both of you." The slaves laid parallel to one another. The vehicle purred back to life and promptly rolled over our slave's legs, breaking them. "You have a choice, crawl to away into uncertainty or stay here...to dance." Neither crawled away. After a quick patch, they were up dancing to 'Kung Fu Fighting'. Then their friends arrived...
