Who's in for starting up a "border patrol" group to constantly sweep the west and north borders and destroy all vehicles we find on a numerous amount of servers just to frustrate the hoarders? Lol -

1: This is only my opinion but it's entirely a player behavior issue, the mod sort of capitalise on letting us decide what is apropriate or not. 2: Firing weapons from inside vehicles has been a feature request on arma2 and OA for quite a while, i'm not sure what BIS is waiting for, considering it's implemented in their military version of the game. As for keys? then you need indestructible vehicles because other players will destroy what they can't use. 3:I could see some improvements done there but it shouldn't make it a sort of inner sanctum, if you're leaving your camp unguarded for 24 hours, someone should be able to break in. Also building such a camp should take at least as long as it would take to undo it. 4: Kinda like a satchel basically? 5: I agree thermal scopes are a bit... meh. I could see thermal binoculars though, let you spot players, but you can't see much else or aim through it. 6: A zombie movie setting would need a hundred time more zombies, including large wandering hordes going toward the biggest noise on the map. But no game out there can handle this many entities i believe. 7: ok 8: The problem isn't that they aren't rare enough, it's that they never get destroyed, a good rifle is either picked from your buddy by your killer, or by a good friend. everyone ditch winchesters and lees left and right, but no one will ditch an L85. 9: Huh? 10: This is going to be an uphill battle, the Arma engine distribute "work" to the clients in order to lessen the load on the server, not sure how this will affect it. And people should stop assuming DayZ will ever gets out of the "mod" status, that's giving yourself false hopes, for now all that exists is there, and it's a mod, what it becomes in the future is pure speculation. -

A mate and me were looking for vehicles for some days. 3 days ago we found 2 ATVs and wanted to fix them (missing wheels and engie). While looting Berezino, we found an UAZG and laughed hysterically. Unfortunately, the server was shutting down for maintenance. We didn't care much, because we saved the car and it was hidden quite well (+ this spawn is not marked on any loot map). But as I joined the server again the next day, it was gone, hurray... Still, we are looking forward to find another car. Just don't give up ;) -
Servers with Sniper Rifles Removed

Freaky great idea and this would work rather well.Take away the rifles that blow people up and just have sniper rifles that need skill by a head shot or player lives is great for gameplay.Who cares about the ant-materiel attacks on vehicles.Put in a few spawns of rocket launchers with very low ammo to keep it sane. -
today with few friends we managed to put our hands on a ural civilian, we fixed it and all happy we started raiding everything in four, we even repaired another atv and so we had another one of us following the truck, it was like a little group of survivals like the one you've seen in resident evil: apocalypse, :D we had so much fun by going all around the map for half the day until we reached nadezdhino and we found it burned to the ground, we sincerely thought someone already took the chopper and went missile rampage on it... and so we went through on our vehicles... in the middle our ural lost one wheel.... the beginning of the end, suddenly zombies spawning everywhere around us, the heat was high and we slained as many as we could till the moment all our legs simultaneosly broke and all we could do was lay down.. seconds after we all four died and the epic day ended in the worst kind of way... we had so many plans... so many dreams.. p.s. i don't even have to tell you how many items we collected and how long we would've lasted with that setup. the ural civilian is maybe the best vehicle we found! 200 slots, 50 weapons slot, 10 backpacks, AMAZING! i hate you hacker, :P r.i.p. lil ural a screen of a friend of mine, when we first took the vehicle

I was thinking, a way to stop the hoarders from hoarding all of the vehicles in their servers would be to impliment a building that you could bring for instance, a certain number of scrap metal pieces to in order to build yourself the shell of the vehicle you are looking to manufacture, lets say a bike would cost 1 scrap metal (plus two tires as it would be just the shell), a motor cycle costing 3 scrap metal and so on and so forth, the bigger the vehicle the more metal it takes to make it. This would of course discourage vehicle hording because what would be the point in taking all the vehicles in the map and hiding them if you could just make them yourself? I also believe this would still be a challenge getting these vehicles because the parts for them are generally few and far between.

We are 1 Kilometre from a major city, the map end is another 1km away. It's just well hidden. We've worked this hard to get OUR vehicles so we're going to try to protect them. Low pop servers are the best bet to find vehicles, try a server with 5-10 players and check the vehicle spawns. -

occurred at around 12:30 GMT-8 whole server, a whole 5-6 people, including my group of 3, died instantaneously and all vehicles/buildings were destroyed. i knew it was only a matter of time before this happened to me...

douche bags , really if youre so worried about players taking your vehicles/equipment set you server to private 24/7, seriously i hate these loot then boot admins. cool i killed you and all your buddies, take the best gear , then BOOM struck down by the boot hammer. don't play on clan run servers they hoard all the good stuff and tend to be complete dick heads in these types of situations. -
DE 461 Apparently a new server, the three players using the [sPTD] tag on DE 461 decided to kick any other players that joined their server. I would hope fuel-less vehicles can become save-free.. it makes sense. must be much more of them also. it turns out there is also animations for the long canoe. they are OFP originals but theres a guy on a forum saying that it could be ported easily to cwc http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=9905

A kayak or canoe is an ideal survival prep, especially if you live near the coast. As a supplement to bicycles which are fuel free and super-awesome to ride in a zombie situation, it would also be great to have kayaks or canoes. Rowboats should be just sitting there on the piers. These sorts of cheap vehicles should be highly available imo i included a few pictures from row-ables in arma cold crisis, which could possibly be converted although i understand there is no animation for the long canoe shown.

The only thing preventing you from enjoying DayZ is you! Just look harder for camps, I found 2 vehicles over the last couple of days hidden randomly on the map. Stop blaming people for taking the vehicles just look for them, the maps big but not that big! ;) Good luck hunting! -
Removal of Sniper Rifles and Silenced guns.

Snipers and top notch utilities and silencers and NVG are the only end game we have so far other than building vehicles. and its so rare to successfully build a vehicle when playing solo, meaning that the only thing to aim for is a sniper rifle and all the shit to go with it. without that, the aim of the game would be to get a weapon that can shoot just about 3ft infront of you so that you can go into the woods all day munching beans and soda untill you run out, then go into electro to loot the supermarket of all its food and drink so that you can go back out to the forest by yourself again -
I have read some threads concerning clans hoarding vehicles as well and read this thread and came to another solution to that issue. In conjunction with the idea of soldier AI's, military grade vehicles should have some sort of AI defense with them. Meaning, how likely are you to find a helicopter sitting in the airfield with no one in sight. Another would be a military transport just sitting there. These vehicles should have some AI in them that could deploy out and defend the said vehicle. So disregard my post of having AI roam the wilderness but rather have AI roam the streets inland in said vehicles. Longshot idea but have a military helicopter keeping cover over airfields and they will have to land periodicly to refuel. Again, just a thought on how much further the idea could be expanded.

i can't find any vehicles either, and i've hit about ten spawn spots for them in one life. nothing. i wish i had a bike, though. quiet, and doesn't need fixing. also quite handy. -
Yeah, he was in our server spawning helicopters, enabling godmode, teleporting vehicles and himself. He is banned from our server now.

I think this game could do with some long challenges with persistent rewards that carry over lives. Types that would not bring harm to other players, but things to keep you playing with miniature survival incentives that collect into something overall decent. No murder-related challenges however; not everybody wants to be a killer and shouldn't be punished for it. Here are some hypothetical examples. Tweak the numbers how you please, they arn't the focus. Eat 250 tins of sardines - Sardines now replenish 50% more blood. Perform a blood transfusion on 100 unique players - Can now perform a blood transfusion on yourself. Start 100 fires - No longer need matches in dry weather. Kill 100 animals - Able to recover 1 more meat per animal. Install 50 vehicle parts - Vehicles repaired by you have a little more resilience to damage. Kill 1000 zombies - Slightly easier to avoid detection by zombies in crouch/standing stance. Attract 1500 zombies to your location with gunshots - Every unalert zombie over half the audible distance rolls a 50% chance to ignore you every time a shot is fired. The thing is, it's hard to place in lasting, non-grindy challenges into something that isn't specifically team based. Every reward has to benefit yourself, but being able to achieve them so easily by pestering players at the beach will mean that the challenges won't last. The main point is that each challenge requires finding some resource to expend. Which means travelling and exploring, perhaps grouping up. I like the idea of quests. But they'd need to be heavily diverse to prevent them from becoming bandit ambush routes and nothing more. Of course this whole post is without consideration to the amount of work required for all this.

Is their a source, is this a bug with 1.7.2.4? or what. And is it the same with vehicles? I've had stuff in tents go missing, along with vehicles. I highly doubt people took everything in the tent because some of it was junk trololol.

On server US952 a friend and I recently stumbled upon a damaged helo (Thought they were currently removed from the game) at the NWAF. To our surprise parts were nearby and we were able to repair her within minutes and get airborne. After an amazing couple hours and a tour of Chernarus by air we decided to find a spot to land and hide the newest member of our team. As we searched for a location to land we discovered a camp with 5 vehicles and a tent surrounded by wire and tank traps. We quickly landed nearby and set upon the camp looting and destroying the vehicles. Rather a dick move but I felt that hoarding vehicles at the top of the map is also a pretty dick thing to do. After we leave to find a safe place to hide our helo and log off. Login back in the next day and our chopper is still there, then I lose connection. I immediately log back in to discover the server has been reset and our helo is gone. I make all haste to the camp that we sacked to discover everthing is there again and intact, the server has been reset back to a point almost 12 hours ago. My friend and I decide to exact our revenge and wipeout the camp this time stealing 2 of the vehicles. Within half an hour of our second attack the server goes down for the second time and I get banned. Pics of the camp http://imgur.com/a/xqmj2

Oh dear, These creeps again. *sigh* I too have come across these imbeciles in the last few days and there is no doubt of foul play. I experienced them on one of the US servers a few days prior to this post. They were walking blatently down the highway coming in to Elektro. Naturally I fired a couple of DMR rounds into Stradh I believe. My shots didnt miss they were direct hitting his head and torso however he didnt drop. His firend Santiago was a different story. He immediately after hearing my shots started firing directly at me. This was a little suspicious seeing as i was quite some distance away. Fortunately he shoots like a blind retard and I counter fired killing him easily. This is where the foul play becomes obvious. After killing Santiago I refocused on to Stradh who had taken cover behind one of those burnt out husk vehicles. Literally 2 minutes after killing Santiago and seeing his death on screen he was back with full gear wearing a ghillie suit. Theres no way thats possible. After noticing I was dealing with hackers I abandoned my position, jumped on my push bike and flawed it out of the city only to find Santiago shooting at me 2 miles up the coast in front of my bike. He didnt have a vehicle and theres no logical way he could have outrun me. I met my end that day.
