1. server admin already looked for all the vehicles... if you have luck you can find some... or search for it. 2. no, vehicles are server side, you can't 'travel'. same with tents.

Oh, shit. I didn't realize a game that advertises survival, working together, survival, repairing vehicles(which is just an aspect of working together), survival, being wary of strangers after -meeting them and travelling with them-(Which to me hints that the mod might have been intended for pseudo-surviva-there'sthatwordagain-roleplay), survival, and, you know, -survival-, would be a player versus player game. I didn't know they had options like capture the flag, team deathmatch, domination, and ground war. Or respawning with a pre-picked gear set. Or respawning on team members. Or a kill-score limit that wins you the player verse player match. Oh wait, they don't, because this isn't call of duty. This is a survival simulator mod in alpha thats supposed to be fun for groups of players to have 'oh shit' moments as they get swamped by zombies while scrounging for gear before heading north to the Promised Lands, avoiding bandits(A system which, by original design, was meant to hint to players when they met strangers that hey, This guy MIGHT be an asshole, I should be careful around him. Which, again, brings us back to CAREFULLY meeting/teaming up with new players for, oh fuck. Survival.) and getting phat lootz. I'm sorry. I guess I should go back to playing my Call of Duty and build a house out of dirt blocks after defeating the evil undead dragon with my Master Sword. -

Really? Is CoD the only mulitplayer game where people kill each for no other reason than a score? I understand that that particular franchise has bred a younger, spazzier, more retarded breed of gamer than the lofty, elitist autism of EVE or...well....let me think....Arma, but if you require set missions to be laid out for you from on high, then perhaps you are playing the wrong game? Admittedly, mysterious bandits on rooftops in major towns, sniping with terrible aims is somewhat annoying, but hey at least they have set themselves a goal (of sorts). My small group divides into set roles and runs mini 'ops' into certain areas of the map for certain supplies; sometimes we go bandit-hunting to protect new spawns on the coast; recently we've set about hunting hoarders' camps with the sole intention of allowing the vehicles to spawn for everyone else. If we amass enough ammo and medical supplies, we take off to 'cleanse' a town of as many zombies as possible to let off steam, which is often hilarious. (PROTIP: Fire a FN-FAL in Electro in broad daylight (AMAZEBALLS)) Get with a group and get organised. It takes planning, coordination and many, many hours to perfect. -
it's part of the gameplay aspect of vehicles, ground or otherwise. When you use them they use fuel, in order to keep using them you have to find a jerry can, fill it with gas, and then take it back to your vehicle and refuel it. I think it takes a helicopter 30 jerry cans to fill the tank completely.

cool, i wasnt there unfortunately, so it's nice to see some quality images. Although I'm even more terrified now, after seeing your "infected friend." It makes me think that the sermon was just a ruse, orchestrated by an intelligent zombie so that he could infect other survivors with the virus and turn them into smart zombies too, who can now use guns and drive vehicles making their quest to destroy humanity all that much easier. Now that I think about it, maybe the church should have been bombed sooner if that was the case D:

We need more players! We need more organized squads. People who do raids. Competition! New players! People of all kinds. Bandits & Survivors. Server is very stable, and hasn't crashed once. It's located in northern FL and hosted by Vilayer. No getting stuck at loading or waiting for character to create. Load in time is practically immediate. We try to keep hacking to as much of a minimum as possible (We always have be-rcon running and are scanning server logs constantly for any scripts executing that shouldn't be and once we associate them with a guid, that guid gets banned immediately. Two have suffered this fate already and they were detected within about 10 minutes, luckily before they killed any unfortunate players). Also have a strict stance on ALT F4 or Combat logging in general. Do it once, if you come back in.. I'm going to notice and send you a nice little warning over battle-eye global(which everyone can see). Do it a second time, or if you ghost to reposition to kill your attacker, it's perma ban.. I know I could catch flak for that, since it's not on the list of reasons to kick and/or ban but it ruins the enjoyment of the players who call my server their home and that is of the utmost importance to me. If you're killed fairly, I can't help you. If I kill you, I obviously can't help you in that case either :P. If you're a fair player, who wants a fair experience, come find US1313 and join in on the slaughter. I cannot and will not guarantee your safety at any time :) Also, very important. If anyone who is already playing on my server notices anything fishy, hacking or otherwise.. I strongly urge you to send me an email at [email protected] with the persons name(If you can acquire it via looking at the player-list and narrowing it down, the time it happened(as close as possible to the actual time) and a description of what happened, and I will do my best to correct any issues and also send the GUID of that player to DayZ as well so they can add it to the master ban list if they deem necessary. Server details, for anyone who wants to know ahead of time.. For now with the numerous dupe bugs rarity doesn't mean shit. Find one and you can dupe it even if you don't mean to since vehicles, tents and characters all have trouble saving and keeping track of items properly. Last time I "duped" items was with an ATV.. I lost some satchel charges I put into it and they were replaced with road flares... a good trade. And no I didn't hack nor do anything illicit. All I did was take out road flares, drop them since they suck monkey butt and replace them with the satchel charges. Save ATV and disconnect. Next time I go online and check the ATV it still has the flares I took out but no satchels. Same applies to everything. Nothing gets saved properly. Maybe it's just the server I play on though. -

Rebooting should fix everything on your server except for players that died. Tents, vehicles, ect. should go back to the way they were prior to the attack. -

It's kinda obvious to see who voted for "NO". I do believe some of those servers could have been locked for a good reasons, but i'm sure most of them are being locked by admins and their clans to spot vehicles and good loot before everyone else. This is something to be considered, in my opinion. -

If there is something wrong with the patch, you shut it down. You do NOT lock it. NOTHING can be fixed while it is locked. If theres a problem you close it down. There are no rules saying you cannot close your own server down. Hope that is clear enough to you half brain celled idiots. This kind of thing is used to farm loot and vehicles before other players get a chance and is absolute bullshit. We all play one way and thats that. Those who violate the trust of dayz face the consequences. -

It saves me several hours of running, and it's always nice to have a backup.

hey there :D me and my buddies have just finished repairing our helicopter and have been flying a little around. Now we want to quite for today, and save the helicopter, like when you save other vehicles :) But my friend can't seem to ''save'' it, is it possible to save it, or does it not need saving? and do you have to fix everything? (we haven't fixed the windows yet)

Sounds like you would know? HostAltitude didn't even reset the server when it was purchased. Incidentally your car in Starry along with the other 2 hordes of vehicles and multiple camping tents were found and destroyed (so they could properly respawn for all players). So is the pot calling the kettle black? Additionally did I mention it would be SUPERLATIVE if HostAltitude would actually reset their servers when a new admin purchased them. This kind of customer service is akin to getting a half eaten pizza in what was supposed to be a fresh box. (Fair warning to all) Let's break this down so everyone has a realistic idea of what is actually happening here. > Ian2buckz refunds server 1345. > Server 1345 is purchased by a new owner. > The server is brought online during a major patch weekend. > Over the course of the weekend the server is reset multiple times. > The server is occasionally locked and unlocked (I played multiple times this past weekend). > The owners discover that the server was not properly reset (Nice one HostAltitude!). > Despite being in violation of the rules the owner decided to keep it locked until they can manually reset it, so everyone could have a fresh chance to play. > Spend hours looking for the cars. > Discover they are ALL horded (minus 1 PBX) in 2 different mega camps. > Destroy vehicles (manually resetting server). > Server unlocked today with all vehicles (including helicopters :D) properly respawned and available for all. > ian2buckz gets butthurt and sends email to HostAltitude. > HostAltitude never informing the server Admin of the complaint responds to ian2buckz stating they are suspending the server (Nice one AGAIN HostAltitude). > This misinformed thread is created. > What could have been a nice FRESH server is destroyed by some random impatient moron. To the players who like to report everyone and everything. Do you realize why people host servers? It's not so they can sit around and pander to your every whim. They are providing a free service a community of what appears like generally ungrateful jerks. As proven in this thread. The OP made zero effort to contact the server admin who has already posted in this thread (it's not me, check signatures). Instead he would rather run like a little wimp to the hosting company and cry. Last time my friends and I try and support the community by giving players a fresh start. I guess next we can just take all the vehicles for ourselves. -
Okay, basically the story is that me and my buddies were in our camp and we decided to take a hike and go to the Cherno hospital. Once we got there we saw a truck with a player inside, we shot at him and he disconnected to avoid dying I'm assuming, then we took the vehicle and started driving back to the camp, and the wheels broke off about a quarter through the drive, so we had to go back and search for tires. We searched the city for maybe 3-4 hours to get this thing in a condition where we'd be able to drive all the way back successfully, none of this time had we searched the vehicles gear slots yet. But eventually when we got it back to camp we were gonna load it up with some ammo and go to the NW Airfield, and when we checked inside to see what was in there we almost shit ourselves. It was stocked on good guns, lots of ammo etc. Guns like 5 M4A3 CCOs, a PP-19 Bizon, a few snipers etc. And then we assumed it was a hackers car, but the hacker must've disconnected and the person in the car when we stole it must've came along and just found it and just took it, because there's no reason a hacker would disconnect in fear of dying. I'm reporting this incident so server admins watch out more, I'm unsure if it was for SURE a hacked vehicle or not, but assuming all the gear in it, I'd assume it was. Now, we stole this vehicle fair and square, so I would appreciate it not get taken away as we did use a lot of time on it to get it set up well (Health wise) etc. Also, I believe the hacker whom may or may not have spawned it was named Mook, as he killed me and my friend with a M240, but we took him out with our final shots, and 2 minutes later ran into my friends near the NW airfield with a M24 (They killed him and looted his body, that's how I knew it was him).

DE57 Hacked, Sven_Gewalt and axle are hackers

He was wearing a ghili west of elektro in the Forrest he we shot him behind his back in the head, in front of him beside, him and he killed 9 of my clan members without taking any damage the i watched them spawn vehicles for themselves. There names are axle Sven_Gewalt ARE HACKERS on de57 right now -
I play on this server and when i logged in today our vehicles and tents were gone. They weren't raided as we have a few spread out and none of them are there, not flattened, etc. I assume a server restart will fix this. Also, grats on owning us yesterday after we took shots at your helicopter. Would love to hear what happened on your end. EDIT: fixed with restart, thanks

I bought DayZ a week ago and so far I've adored the game. From it's free roaming and scavenging to its KOS'ing bastardized community. This isn't meant to be an OP thread, complaint thread, or anything or the sort. This is just a community based thread to kinda see how people would react, or even just to get some ideas. Now as I said, I adore DayZ for what it is. Sure it has more problems than an algebra book, but there's some charm in that. The one thing that DOES get me in this game more than most others is the atmosphere. The oppressing loneliness when you're running along the shore. The deafening silence when you're in the woods. Flare lighting at night, the "ghost behind you" feeling you get in the dead of night. For all DayZ has wrong with it there are a ton of things it's doing right. I won't go into PvP, PvE, Looting and the like, this thread is all about atmosphere. Now, considering all that I do like about this...I can't help but feel, even if it's "alpha", there's a lot of missed opportunity here. I'll give a few examples. The first point I'd like to make while trying to avoid the talk of pvp and the likes; in terms of atmosphere, NVG and Thermal break immersion. Being forced to run in the dead of night, unable to see anything with only flares, flashlights and glow sticks to illuminate your path? Imagine running through a town, only a handful of glow sticks to light your way through the darkened zombie infested settlement. The nighttime flare animations hitting a tree line or building are beautiful and haunting. Honestly if you haven't, get a thing of roadflares, run to a forest/field area and throw one in the forest and in the fields. The lighting effects are beautiful, but noone has the chance to use them due to infinate thermal/night vision. Even flashlights with their directional lighting adds a lot to this game. Even keeping the NVG/Thermal IF you had to constantly power it with super rare batteries would be fine. Another point that bugs me is the audio. Zombies sound rather....bland, there's no creepiness to the audio. The way they move is fine, honestly when they glitch I'm not upset, the jerking and shaking just makes them look more terrifying. Back to the sound however, the zombies have some wierd... nasally sound. There's no projection to the screams, heaves, and grunting. It may just be me nitpicking but as I said, it seems nasally and forced. One huge thing that bugs me, and I mean HUGE...the lack of community input for the game. This one is a lot more broad, I'm not talking about weapons, vehicles, and the like. What I'm talking about is we have an extremely creative community overall, a "mod" that only grows with player support, and the game draws a lot of RP'rs into the community. There are tons of creative minds in this forums and they could be put to use. One of the things I'd like to use as an example is "Green Mountain". The entire "lore" of that mountain made by the community if phenomenal. The thought of something that's "Neither survivor, bandit, nor Zed" keeping watch and guarding that area is amazing. Keep in mind I'm not asking something put in the game like zombie bosses, or even let's say physical ghosts to see. What I'm saying is this in basic terms: You run up to Green Mountain which opens a 3 part path 1a: Zombies Spawn as normal, nothing happens (90% trigger) 1b: Nothing spawns and as you pass through the game, all ambient noises disappear. No more wind/birds/ect. Just your footsteps, breath, and add ambient heartbeat.(5%) 1c: Nothing spawns and your vision goes black and white as you're forced into first person mode and your character view starts shaking. (5%) 2a: Nothing - normal shit. 2b: As you get near the radio tower faint growling sounds echo around you. No discernible direction. 2c: As your vision sways and shakes your breathing gets heavier. If you look in certain areas you might see let's say an "apparition" for lack of better term. Basically you would see a "figure" but since you couldn't focus your sight as soon as you turned back to see it, boom, it's gone. 3a: Again, still nothing 3b: Growling gets louder and more ferocious until you leave the area, even then it follows you for a little bit. 3c: Eventually your vision returns to normal (lets say after 5 seconds) This is the kinda thing i'm talking about. Those would be simple triggers that you could complete with already implemented tools in the game. While the "C" path may effect gameplay, you could easily do "B" path with no issues. Christ, you could even add the radio item, go to certain spots to have creepy audio. Again, using green mountain as an example: I like the game and this thread is all but guaranteed to be ignored by "Rocket", but at least in the community I'm sure there's a few people who can/would be interested in this kind of thing. Sorry for a bit of a rant, but yeah...I'd just like to see something ACTUALLY happen with this game and I feel atmosphere could be this game's strongest card.

Can confirm that it will start leaking(Albeit slowly) when damaged, have yet to repair it enough to stop. For those of you telling us to, you can't repair the fueltank on the Huey. Huey also seems to be desyncing a whole lot, but not more so than other vehicles - seems to be on par, it's just very weird to see the helicopter go upside down for a few seconds, also makes shooting things very difficult. A patch to fix vehicle desyncing in general would be very welcome. Vehicles desync depending on the amount of players, usually 30+ will cause the vehicles to desync very often - as in going off-course and through buildings, sometimes up in the air. This has been around for long, and is annoying - but not really gamebreaking in itself. Although I can confirm that desyncing can get you killed, a friend of mine desynced and got killed(Teleported to where he died split-second after he actually died.), most likely some other guy saw him standing still on his screen - and shot him, thus he was killed. This occured on a highly populated server, with the Hatchback. Seeing as vehicles are one of the biggest features of DayZ, I'd love to see them getting some love. Example of issues; • ATV unreliable, likes to flip over when off-road(More common when uphill). Also gets stuck on bridges. • ATV goes airbourne if pushed when flipped over or stuck on a bridge. • DayZ specific objects seem to cause extreme damage, can ram trees and houses no problem. But if you hit a roadblock and your tire gets flat, the vehicle will blow up(V3S and Tractor is great to re-produce this issue with.). Edit: Am surprised yours even started. You can ferry items over to the island no problem, your gear should not disappear(This have yet to be confirmed whether its disabled by Server Admins or DayZ Devs!). Vehicles respawn on server restart. -
Just a suggestion of mine. I've seen some of the "generators" or whatever is it, I don't really know, I'm not into that stuff. Would be quite interesting if you could gather some stuff, like fuel, maybe scrap methal, maybe some... cabels, whatever, and make it working. And let's say if you could actually repair the generator and start it, you would have electricity in one, or in a couple of villages. Would be povered by fuel just as vehicles and stuff, so you'd need xyz fuel to run it for xyz time. While the generator is running, the street lamps and all the lights in the cities/villages would be fully working, lighting up everything. I just don't know if those things actually are in the game as I haven't looked for them so.. Would be great to have some source of light at night times, also would kinda add a little protection from snipers etc, because you could just hide up in the building for the night, and they'd actually have to come into the town to kill you, which means you would see them as well. Or they would be able to sabotage your generator and get you in the darkness with their NVG. Please read, think about it and post your opinion. Don't do the "go play cod/l4d/whatever" thing please.Thanks :)

yeah that's about right for me, too. but then, I live on a militarized rock, not in a post-soviet republic with its attendant declines. I think it might be difficult to find shoes let alone military vehicles.

kind of agree with much of what the OP says. keys for vehicles is a no no though. I'd like to see less scoped rifles and more aging soviet weaponry please. CZ550 should be only sniper ingame. much of the serious military gear should go.
