All Items in vehicles disappear after server restart
crusader_111 replied to KLM's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This could be because if the restart happened very soon after changing the load in the vehicles it could be possible it wasn't saved even if you used the 'save vehicle' action. Just like the server has a lag on the save feature the same applies for vehicles. After multiple server restarts it could be possible that after each restart you need to save the vehicle otherwise vehicle contents will be wiped. But this is not proven just a possibility. Hope I helped, CRUSADER -
I do like the notion, and they have them in Arma II. Maybe in a way that if you are far away they are unnoticeable, but up close they are easier to spot. Been saying the same thing to one of my buddies as well. It is somewhat easy to conceal smaller vehicles, but larger ones are much harder (as a given). On another out look of it, that might be what the game is going for you have to work harder to hide bigger things. Its a hard thing to call for. But I like the idea.

I explain you to DayZ beginner Tutorial in this Thread: 1. Where I find which Loot 2. Which is critical 3. As I find vehicles 4. Which for a DMG actually makes my weapon 5. Which keys are importantly thus come we to the first question: Loot such as meal, drinking, medicine, ammunition finds it? - Food gives it to natural in the supermarkets & buildings - Medizien such as Blootpags, morphines finds it in hospitals - bandages finds it in nearly all buildings - to ammunition can you in military places find and *allen* buildings most players use an assistance map on-line Link: http://dayzdb.com/map#3.113.081 finds to her everything here which it needs. Tracking vehicles and tents is different, since you can easily give them variables (in this case an id), but this does not hold true for things in your inventory. See the biki. Try changing the "evade left" and "evade right", as I believe the bindings for rolling and leaning are different. I might read your post if you bother including stops (including full stops).

Can somebody PLEASE tell me what the FU*K just happened?
Meak posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From the beginning... Being that tents are solid again (mostly), my buddies and I set up a camp. We had some OKAY stuff in there, 3 DMRs, a couple Mk Mod 0s, M4A1 Acogs, loads of sustenance, and a couple back packs full of tools. Well last night We were farming for vehicles, and then crash sites, and then players, and logged off... this is what happened about 10 minutes ago when I logged back on. I ran to our tent spot, and there are like 10 tents there. All empty except one, with the weapons. But now there are only 2 DMRs, both bizons are mission, and there are like 15 boxes of matches inside. At first I thought some assholes came and item # blocked our gear with matches, so I started to pull them out. After pulling out 10 or so, I noticed they were cloning more inside. I ran to the other tent we had set up, and put my m107 in it. I decided "fuck this, im just going to go part hunting with my bizon" I walk back to the other tent to clean out my inventory, and BOOM, the second I OPEN the tent, I have AS50, 5 guillies, tons of clips, range finder, and M4A1 CCO SD. A couple coyote packs dropped on the gound in front of me completely full of cooked meat. I was freaking out, had no idea what just happened, and about 3 seconds later, I got kicked because battle eye said I was scripting. I logged back on, and nothing had changed, still had the as50, guilles and everything. Now, as I'm typing this, I think I'm realizing a hacker was hooking me up. Maybe he was standing next to me or something and just fucking loaded me up. I'm dropping the AS50. I've played this game about 2 months now and haven't gotten that bad boy on my own yet. First time isn't going to be by a hacker. I'm DEF keeping all the guilles though haha. My group is going to blow me later tonight for that. Any idea on what exactly happened? Has anything similar happened to anybody else? -
Banned for combat logging
Austin Wigley replied to GhostHawx1's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
- Incorrect, sir. I said that if the server restarted and the truck my mates acquired from you disappeared, I was going to report your group for hacking in vehicles, because I said that was potential evidence. I don't have access to the logs, it wouldn't be up to me to go check them and see who spawned in a truck. :/ [Which clearly, you did not. My group was under the assumption that the truck may have been hacked in because it had no damage when I got in it, but it has been explained to me by RagoTag that the truck is glitched and autorepairs, like many vehicles.] -Also incorrect, sir. I did not once say something an admin told me to say, because I was in this thread of my own accord and forwarded the thread to SolarFlare to deal with when he logged in. :/ I was under the impression you were rightfully banned for combat logging, as that's what I was told - but I am now under the impression that I was utterly wrong. I don't really know what the issue in this thread is, now, but as long as people continue to post false information about US 88 [like, for example, user "Chernarus" or "James",] I will be there to shit that thread up. My offer for people to come play / talk with us still stands, but it appears that some users would rather stay in this thread and IRC where they can quietly try to get a server blacklisted. Hopefully we will battle again, one day, GhostHawk. See you around. edit: You have my beans. -
EU 291 server, just some minutes ago. We have been running around checking vehicle spawns for multiple days on multiple servers... today we got 'lucky' and found... a bicycle. Now, 'better then nothing' we said and sent one guy running all across the map to find real vehicles whilst our remaining footmen went to closer spawns. North of NE Airfield (Quad Spawn) our scout suddenly started shouting. A van, 2 quads. A quick check resulted that one of the quads was probably a spawnie (damaged), the other two vehicles were fully repaired and the van was full of supplies. Scout grabbed the van and made a run south. We already started planning our, now motorized, raids, when suddenly he heard motor noises and honks: Two guys armed to the teeth (he spotted 2 Assault rifles) followed him on a quad, constantly honking and apparently trying to make him halt. The 'chase' went on for quite a few minutes (~10) containing everything from road, offroad and even railroad chase. At some point, the motor noises suddenly stopped, he checked the backview and saw... a fireball. Followed up by a massive volley of gunfire. Apparently the two managed to run their quad into a wall, but (at least one of them) survived and attempted to bring down the Vans tires... we got lucky, no damage done and only a slight wound to our brave driver. In the end we managed to meet up and now finally got a mobile HQ again. @The two other guys: We assume you two are the guys we stole the Van from. Loosing BOTH your vehicles is your fault :o After discovering your little camp, we decided to merely take one of the vehicles, not intending to rob you of all your mobility. But no, you had to insist to get the Van back :P Btw, you could call yourself lucky as well, 5 minutes further ahead the road we would have gunned you down in a prepared ambush. ;)

Dude, you know what? I'm calling BS on the playing games for "20+ years".... Unless you are counting "Barney goes to School" or something of that nature. Even then, I would say that you didn't know enough about the game to say whether it was good or bad. I'm going to guess, considering you're telling the truth, that you are around 21-22 years old. Might I suggest spending less time being a "Beta Tester" and more time studying the english language. Yes, I know, this is a forum about a video game and I get that. I can handle things like "C u L8ter" and "IMHO" and things of that nature. But your comment is useless. Why? Becuase it is completely unreadable. Seriously, it gave me a headache. Let me try to understand what you are saying and possibly rephrase this for everyone else. 1. Barb wire, body bags (Haven't seen an actual body bag that isn't a background object.), and tents glitch because they are altered. You have made a CONCERTED (not EXCERTED) effort to be knowledgeable enough to tell other people that they don't know what they are talking about when they tell you that you don't know what you are talking about. (Did you get all that?) 2. You have been killed by zombies (Or Zobs as you put it once.) in a single shot. (Are there infected running around with firearms now? Scary.) 3. Infected should not be able to run toward your gunfire as easily. 4. Vehicles should respawn if not used in 24 hours. I think that just about covered it. Oh wait, one more thing. This is a period. ----> . This is a comma. ----> , Face palm.

Chernarus Map Guide App for Android/iOS
leblackdragon replied to leblackdragon's topic in New Player Discussion
Added a new map layer for possible Helicopter crash sites. Just click the vehicles button a second time. -
A few suggestions from the squad's quartermaster: 1) READ: INVENTORY WARNING! When an inventory store space is full, the game still allows you to drop whatever it is you're trying to deposit in, but it'll get eaten (or something else will, sometimes it's random). Now the item doesn't actually vanish, but is teleported to some random location. My team has lost some rather valuable items to vehicles "eating" them, or, worse, tents. Perhaps a mechanic that doesn't allow you to do this, or at least warns you? And if that doesn't work, maybe a small counter next to inventory names when you've got them open to show their current loaded status. For example, at the top of the menu it'd say something like "Ural: 0/10 3/50 17/200", first number's the packs it can carry, second is the weapons/tools, and third is everything else. This way a player can see if there's room beforehand. 2) Lockable tents. I hate tents. They're stationary, vulnerable, small, and compared to something like a Ural they're horribly inefficient. The main benefits are the low profile, frequency, and camouflage. But I feel there should be something more to it. Perhaps, when the squad mechanic is implemented, you could lock them up (bypass with a toolkit) to restrict access by players not in the tent creator's squad. Or there could be a set number of keys that can be traded between players for a specific tent. Then again, if I'm being practical, I'd just like a capacity boost for the tents, which would be much easier and keep with the vulnerability of all server side (and client side) items. 3) Keep the magazine, spend the ammo. What with the dozens of types of the same caliber ammo in different mags floating around, maybe it'd be easier to require players to take loose ammunition and fill magazines themselves. When a full mag is emptied, the empty mag goes back into their inventory, and must be refilled or discarded. Magazines should then be somewhat more difficult to find than ammo, particularly for rarer items. This would solve the issue of there being five or six types of ammo of the same caliber. I'm not sure how this could be modified to prevent it from negatively impacting the mass-storage inventory system, where each individual round would take up a single slot in a tent/vehicle. Maybe putting them in stacks of 5 (a common denominator for all that caliber's magazines)? C&C appreciated.

Empty all tents and vehicles every X days
Sol (DayZ) replied to tobiassolem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How about.... fix the shit instead of taking it away? I'd prefer that. Until it's fixed though, yeah a reset now and again might be okay... having said that, why should I lose my hard earned, legitimate vehicles/supplies/weapons just to deal with some kid who duped 10 night vis goggles? ~Sol -
Sorry for being obtuse, but just to clarify... I found a van in the woods and took it. I drove around and filled it up with sweet loot, then stashed it on a remote ridge where I thought nobody would find it, and clicked "save." Then, I died by zombie. If I start a new character today, will that van still be stashed with my stuff? Is this why I never see repairable vehicles?

"Sorry you may have been a friend, you just weren't worth the risk"
Swineflew replied to Gogster (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh come on, minor safety increase? It's easier to get loot, heck clans are able to build tent cities and hoard vehicles and do whatever they want. There are benefits to team play, just not to trusting strangers. -
Well, that lasted two days. Server restart this morning and all vehicles are gone again. Sent a ticket to the host to double check we're running Hive 0.7.2

OPs main post was a wall of diarrhea. There are tons of stuff to do once you get "gear". 1) Join a clan or play with friends (game is way more exciting when playing together) 2) Search for tents and vehicles 3) find a good location for a base (making a small tent city is my current goal and it is harder than you think) 4) hunt server hoppers. ( the high profile spawn locations are a great place to stake out. Hide in the treelines and wait for people to login to the spawns this is how you get some really awesome gear) 5) Help other people (it may sound risky but you can and will actually find decent people in the Mod. The mentality is shoot first ask questions later but, that doesn't make people bad. Itchy trigger fingers aside the most fun I have had in DayZ was teaming up with randoms it adds much realism to the experience.) You are only limited by your imagination.

Servers rolling back vehicles completely?
Taso (DayZ) replied to chaR's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Our server has it, but we're experiencing the same problem with vehicles found after the update- including the Huey. -
hey guys DayZ is good but as is far as i can tell its not the barbed wire that mainly causes the Grapical glitch is object texture error caused by trying to alter them the objects ive noticed that cause this glitch some wrecks sometimes barbwire or bodies but mainly body bags and tents ive experimented with them and i get the worst errors tears ect aound BB's and tents just thort id let you guys know as ive been a beta tester for many games and make a excerted effort to find and locate the problem have a lil knowledge in locating errors in textures and stuff also so plz dont say we know or no your wrong i may not know the technical phrase for something doesnt mean i dont know what im talking about ive played games for 20+ years and liek what your doing with arma good work but theres alot that needs fixing ive been oneshoted by zombies a few times and the reaction time of zombies to noise needs to be dulled ie a gunshot will grab thier attention but unless they have a direct LOS they should only start moving any your direction not come spring at you or your position and ontop of that the number of zobs spawning should also be fixed as in a max count for a area and only resets after u leave that area die or log out also vehicle i think should respawn if they have not been used in 24 hours this would cause groups to remain logged in and allow those that need the vehicle a chance to use 1 or maybe vehicles be logged to those that discover them and save them to their profile with a max of 3 vehicles per person that way the can find a vehcile and save it then log and will respawn a new vehicle wen thy are not on the server just a suggestion to think about well thats my 2 cents

can we make it so clan groups dont just rape everything ?
jubeidok replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't see a problem with this, as long as they are legitimately hoarding. There's plenty of gear out there for the groups to hoard and for the lone wolves to stumble upon. The biggest issue is holding on to the vehicles you find. Mans gotta sleep unfortunately. =) I think a cool feature to have would be needing a toolbox(screw driver) and a dent puller in order to steal a car. Maybe the owner has the keys or not. Maybe if you happen to kill an owner the keys will be in his inventory. Another cool feature for vehicles would some camo netting that you can find and cover the vehicle with. This would give you a much better chance at keeping that precious time saver in your possession. -
Someone's already suggested Whiskey brewing (are you going to wait the 12 years :P ) This is more to help keep vehicles going and add another aspect to the game.

Alternative use: Military area - Safe haven for the good, hell for those with bad karma? I mean, this is how we could also use the KARMA SYSTEM. Good peeps can enter and have a safe spot. More or less. If you attack them, you lose the advantage and they turn hostile. But zombies and / or other players could attack. You could help them, and basically reap rewards, such as using the vehicles, or so. Why zombies that may attack? Well, you can actually do something then, unless you want to wait for players who aim to raid the area. People with bad karma / murderers would not be welcome and hostile, KOS order. You could gain karma there by helping them, say, defending the area when it is under attack (alert triggered by zombies and / or players with bad karma entering or attacking the area, if you kill hostile entities - bandits - you gain karma). With a certain "good reputation" you could then use some of their vehicles freely, perhaps. Implementing / synching this with the karma system may also prevent "senseless killing", since people who avoid or help other people actually have some sort of actual gameplay advantage, or at least a possible advantage, whereas most murderers may have a disadvantage. If they want to get big loot, they have to fight their way through an army. On the other hand, you could say this: BUT WAIT! People could just run in without a bad rep and loot, then go! That is correct. Two options here: - Looting without good reputation turns them hostile to you (you take their gear without authorization) - You can't even enter the area without being shot at UNLESS you have a certain amount of good karma (which you may get by helping other survivors by healing, or so Just some more thoughts!

Other things to do... 1. go to the coast and counter snipe the very people you complain about 2. camp stary or NW airfield waiting for server hoppers to kill. 3. look for camps 4. look for and repair vehicles. if none of these things entice you and you're looking for some hug it out session with complete strangers who have no reason to trust you, and no real threat to defend against other than other players, you're playing the wrong game. The ever growing list of servers and continued success of arma 2 sales contradict your claim of failure, and even if that were true, so be it. The game is a sandbox. Stop trying to impose structure to it. Its not about structure, and never will be.

can we make it so clan groups dont just rape everything ?
Goldfish (DayZ) replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just loot the clan camps and vehicles when they're mid mission. Be carefully they haven't posted guards etc. I've got a fair bit of high end tech, and I haven't ventured anywhere near the NW airfield. I was killed today (glitch of death) so had to run back from the south to retrieve my body. I came across 2 seportate camps less and half a mile between them. Took what I needed and left them some lovely meat and ammo (I thought two meat stakes was a good price for NVG) They had some pretty nice stuff in there but I didn't need it, retrived my DMR from my body so I'm happy anyway. To whome a brokerd this incredably fair deal, Thank you, but you didn't need 3 pairs of NVG's. Also, joyriding clan vehicles is rather amusing, especially when you start getting shot at and write them off :D -
Same problem here... Got version 0.7.2. on and tents/vehicles are not syncing/despawning! Tried to save them more and more, waited up to 60 mins, but it doesnt work! I read other posts here where all works fine....?!?!?
